A moody little tale of sane lunatics and their obsessive self-appointed caretakers, set against a background of past wars and dark sexuality. Well told, full of carefully constructed detail and allusions to many conflicts past and present, large and small. That said, it felt heartless and cold to me: a clockwork with characters fulfilling their assigned parts rather than becoming themselves..
