really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk

THIS is exactly the type of Middle Grade novel that people of all ages can enjoy!

The magic system is probably the best thing about the book- basically, "mapmakers" can record things into certain media to capture different aspects of places. For example, things captured into glass are memories of people. And the way to read a glass map is to hold it under light. There are different methods of reading maps made from different substances- most of which I can't remember, to be honest. So complicated but so awesome.

Overall: 8/10
