A Cry In The Night

Oh dear! What a disappointing book! The 40ish male detective and his younger female sidekick are unconvincing, spend far too much time obsessing about their mental problems, and are not very interesting. The plot is risible. A couple of children are abducted, and the boy's body is subsequently found floating in the local lake. Their mother is a prime suspect, and most people are determined to find her guilty. Questions are legion. Why on earth is the older detective so eager to have sex with a local teenager? What does she see in him?? The denouement is ridiculous with the villain reappearing, together with proof of guilt, in front of the police, when they had no idea what or why anything had happened. Don't bother!
