Book two picks up where book one left off. I am keeping this spoiler free because spoilers suck.
Callie learns more about herself and her new found witchiness. The guys continue to rally around her. They begin to figure out their roles in her life. Feelings emerge that none of them know what to do with.
I appreciate that the author doesn’t make this all about the romance. She continues to make the focus of the story about Callie’s emergence as a powerful witch, but she gives us more insight into the guys this time around. I like that he author didn’t just jump right in. She’s doing a great job at building the series one book at a time, giving us just enough to leave us wanting more.

4 Stars!
I have much love for this book!
Brighton is a wealthy 20-something who has been under her parents’ overprotective thumbs for most of her life. They have plans for her future, but Brighton wants to make her own choices. In an act of rebellion and independence, she gets a tattoo. Her tattoo artist is Madden Ransom, the strong, broody, sexy man from the wrong side of the tracks.
Much of the plot is typical of this trope, but it is the hero and heroine who make the book. Brighton is just dying to break free and Madden is afraid to let people in. Neither are over the top. They are written in a way that draws you in and makes you feel invested.
But, there is more to their story than just opposites attract. They share a connection that threatens to ruin their happiness.
Good book with lots of feels and a perfect little twist that adds drama but doesn’t overdo it. ...more

I am so glad I stumbled on this books and series. I will admit that I was initially drawn in by the promise of a YA reverse harem, because really those two things should not go together. However, this book is pretty tame and clean.
Callie is a dichotomy. She is strong and yet afraid at the same time. She is trying to make her way in a new situation. She meets five boys who quickly become her closest friends and protectors.
I love that the author takes the time to fully introduce the reader to Callie’s world and later on the guys. The book does not rush, but it doesn’t meander along aimlessly either. The situation is introduced and slowly built upon.
The main characters are all endearing. Secondary characters add plenty to the plot. The town itself and its surroundings are almost present as characters.

A broody billionaire and a down on her luck single mom strike an illicit deal that leads to more than either one could imagine.
I think I expected more from this book. Before you go and "boo" me, here's the thing... Bennett's Wicked Horse Vegas and it's predecessor, the Wicked Horse series, are billed as erotic romance and they are, for the most part. They are super steamy, sexy books with good plots and characters. Wicked Knight definitely drops down the scorcher scale to more steamy and less en fuego. Don't get me wrong, there is talk of threesomes and machines and sex that certainly doesn't fall into vanilla, but that's the thing, it is mostly talk or in this case implied. Save for a brief scene in the Wicked Horse early on in the book, the rest of the sex is essentially implied. Some of you may like that. I often do. However, in a series and it's spin-off where I have come to expect that, it was a bit of a let down.
The story itself was good. Asher Knight is a brooding billionaire who spends his night at the sex club instead of forming real relationships. Hannah Madigan is a single mom who is working three jobs to save money to get custody of her child back from her skeevy ex-husband. Asher offers Hannah a deal she can't refuse. (I'll let you read it to find out, but I'm guessing it won't be that hard for you to figure out.) Things begin as all business, but as in any good romance, things begin to change. I was left a bit unsatisfied. There was no real climax in the story. Sure, Asher made an assumption and screwed things up, but it wasn't a heart-breaking, left me gasping climax. The ending was good and the epilogue was satisfying as it tied up loose ends and Asher and Hannah got their HEA.
Let's just get down to brass tacks, shall we? My real issue with this series, this book in particular, is the clinical nature of Bennett's writing. I get it. Sawyer Bennett was a lawyer. She is probably super smart and extremely well-spoken. That is all fine and dandy, but I need the character's voice to match the character's background. Asher was written as cold, bitter, rich and well-educated. It fit him; although, he too was almost too clinical. Hannah came from a poor family in South Carolina and yet she was written with a richer vocabulary than I have and I have three degrees. The clinical nature of the writing took away from the steaminess and emotion that was meant to be there. This kind of writing fits some of her other series, it just doesn't fit here.
All in all, I enjoyed the book and the characters, but I was left wanting more where emotions and sex were concerned.

Kip Carmichael is hands down the best hero Ney has written! I dare you not to fall for him.
Teddy is a sweet girl with a confidence problem. Kip is a rugby player with an attitude. When he sees her standing alone several weeks in a row at a house party he decides to help her stand out and get a man. The more time they spend together the closer they get.
This book is like a modern, college take on Cyrano. Teddy and Kip are great characters and despite any flaws you find yourself rooting for them. Kip has a secret that isn’t as big as he thinks it is and when Teddy finds out she couldn’t care less. Their relationship develops organically and the story flows nicely without being rushed.

A fun friends to lovers romance written in Emma Hart’s signature snarky style.
Two friends come home drunk on tequila after a night out, sleep together and in the morning both pretend not to remember. Why? Because it was the worst sex they ever had! This leads to some funny moments on their way to finally admitting the truth to each other.
I liked this one but I didn’t love it. My biggest issue with the book was the stereotyping of the male MC. He is Latino and I think he and his family were portrayed too comically. I don’t know. Just my opinion.
Overall, the plot was good and there were a lot of funny moments. Could have been better.

I love fake BF/GF romances! This whole series is that trope and Lila Monroe does them well. This one is great. I loved the moment when they both realized it was more than just fake. I loved the tentative tip-toeing around their feelings. There was just enough angst to keep me interested without being over the top. The ending was sweet and perfect with a satisfying epilogue. ...more

This was really great! Preston is a hot hockey star for his college team. Bex's father coaches Preston's hockey team. There is one rule, stay away from Coach's daughter. You're about to see how well that works! They literally run into each other in the locker room and sparks fly from the get go!
Parker and Bex are great characters. Both are strong, but a little insecure. They can't deny their attraction to each other, but they both know the other is probably not the best choice. Despite that, the chemistry is too much to deny. They break the rules and stop fighting things. It's great! Of course, things happen to throw a wrench in the system, but with some creative machinations, Parker manages to win his girl back!

When You Became Mine takes the reader on a journey that spans 20 years. Two friends, as close as siblings. Piper loved Hampton her entire life, until a tragedy brought secrets to light. Lawson loved Piper, but could never compete with his brother Hampton. Lawson left town and now eight years later, he is back and Piper is his roommate.
This was a good read. I am not usually a fan of time progression books, but I liked how the author did it here. She progressed through important times in the characters’ lives without over doing it. Then brought it all home when Lawson returned to his hometown. I loved how we, the readers, could see Lawson’s feelings for Piper, but Piper never realized it. I think it allowed their relationship to progress organically. Nothing was rushed. There was even a little mystery in the book that was a nice addition.

Where to start? Gah! This book was so good!
I love a good boss-employee forbidden relationship. Add in the enemies to lovers and I’m sold! Rome and Peyton were pretty close to perfect.
I love this collaboration between Meghan Quinn and Sara Ney. Their writing styles compliment each others nicely. This book is fun, frustrating and romantic.
Rome is a stickler for the rules, because he makes them. He owns a successful company and he lives for work. He is rigid and regimented and his employees find him harsh and unapproachable, but Peyton sees his vulnerability and she wants him and wants him to notice her. So she tells him in an anonymous email.
So, my favorite part of this book was the emails between Rome and Peyton. They were real and open in those letters and it allowed each of them to see the other’s vulnerabilities.
Seriously, a good read! I was sucked in and could not put this book down!...more

One of Kendall Ryan's recent best! This story of second chance love is pretty great!
Weston and Jane were high school sweethearts. But, you know how it goes... they go to separate colleges, football becomes more important to one of them, they end badly. That's what happened with our Weston and Jane. Weston broke Jane's heart in more ways than one. So now, we fast foward 10 years and they are suddenly reunited when he gets the starting QB job for the team Jane works for and who Jane's father, Weston's former mentor, coaches. Can you say awkward?!
I am a huge fan of Kendall Ryan and I enjoy all her books, some more than others, of course, but I enjoyed Dear Jane more than most. Ryan seemed to get back to her original writing roots with a simple story without a lot of fillers and fluff. A good old second chance romance with just enough angst and a good back story. I flew through the pages taking in every word, not wanting it to end and yet wanting that HEA so much. I loved the secondary characters, the story and the H and h!

Sam and Val.... sigh! These two just swept me up in their story and I rode the beautiful waves to their HEA!
Val is strong and independent, but self-conscious. She has no real luck with men. Sam is handsome, funny and kind but a player. He doesn't do relationships. Ah, sure you don't, buddy. That's what they all say until they meet their "Val."
Their story was sweet and romantic, with some ups and downs, but nothing too traumatic. I loved seeing Sam's transition when Val knocked him off his playboy pedestal. But, I really loved reading along as Val became more confident. The book is steamy... the sex scenes are rockin'! But it was more than just the sex, it was their overall interaction from the very first chapter!

Jackson Bishop’s story was so worth the wait! The perfect ending to the Bishop Brothers series!
I have been chomping at the bit for Jackson’s story. As we got to know him over the course of the series, he was portrayed as the hard-partying, one-night-stand-having, sexy cowboy. Jackson Bishop has a lot of flaws. There is no doubt about that. BUT, what we didn’t get to see in the previous books and what we finally learn in Keeping Him is that Jackson Bishop has the biggest heart and even though he doesn’t think so, he deserves all the happiness he finally got!
This book is a slow building, slow simmering burn. It will pull at your heart, move you to tears and after it has torn you down it will build you up again!

This is a story of more than enough chances romance. Finally, they got it right!
Machlan Gibson is one frustrating hero. Like bang you head against a brick wall frustrating. He’s got issues stemming from his childhood and a pretty hue secret he and Hadley have been hiding. Hadley is good girl who is a glutton for punishment. Over the years she gave Machlan so many chances. She’s returned to Linton to finally decide what to do about Machlan, the boy she’s loved forever.
The dichotomy between Hadley and Machlan is complex and filed with a storied past. Locke doesn’t dwell too much on what happened in the past, but gives us just enough backstory to fill in the gaps and move the book along without those pesky flashbacks. (A big thank you for that, by the way)
All the Gibson Boys make an appearance along with the feisty Nana.
Lots of emotional angst in this one that will keep you turning page after page. ...more

I know you’ve all been waiting for Maebh and Cord’s story and you will not be disappointed!
Cord is and always has been a playboy. He has no desire to settle down and loves his life the way it is. He works hard at his bar and plays hard at well... his bar. These are my favorite heroes to see fall. They think they are above it all and then BOOM along comes that one person to make them change their mind.
Maebh is a sassy Irish woman who is opening a restaurant and bar right down the road from Cord’s Place. From the moment he sees her, she catches Cord’s eye and he is a goner, even if he fights it tooth and nail.
The book moves fast in the beginning, which worried me a little. When I say fast, I mean Maebh and Cord are saying those three little words by like 40%. But, don’t you worry your pretty little heads. There is plenty of story to fill the remaining 60%. There’s a little of everything - family interference, outside interference, insecurities. All of these little pieces fall together to make a picture-perfect ending!
Oh, how I love this family and their stories! Cord and Maebh were pure book goodness!...more
