I really like the format of how the author organized and structured this book, that, and it also reiterates the key ideas over and over again so that the topic is clear and easier to understand. i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND, to anyone wanting to know how to improve their relationships in their lives and deepening their relationship with God as their ultimate source of refuge, strength, and love!...more

I would stay away from books/writers like these just for that reason...that although it sounds good or accurate, but things can be taken out of context. John Ortberg should include where he gets his bible verses from not just piecing things together to make it sound good from the exterior. I would NOT recommend. ...more

The photographer in me began BUBBLING to the surface. It was once a shadow of something dark. These arms may be skinny, but they held a lot. Some pretty harsh ribbing at school. That’s really the first time I had any idea that life wasn’t supposed to be what it was. That’s an even measure of give ‘n take in my opinon. She would play and it would sing.
Sometimes my curiousity gets the best of me, but that doesn’t mean I should stop while I’m this far ahead. That leaves you some pretty big footsteps to fill, mister. Best you come with me and eat some eggs…I want to look into those eyes of yours. I think you’d better take a trip around the bases buddy…thatta one was OUTTA HERE!
If beauty has a face in the morning, it was staring me in the face.
To answer that question means I have to swim under the surface and I’m not sure I want to do that..no when I had already drowned in it once.
If it’s as good as you make it sound, sign me up! Everybody needs an anchor “Here, for later.” (bandaid) “Many times in our lives, we act like He’s still dead. But several times today we’ve testified that He’s not. So which one is it? Why say one thing with your mouth, but live another way with your life? If Jesus is alive, act like it. He either is or isn’t. You can’t be half-alive. Walking into the tomb, many scholars have tried to find where our Lord Jesus lay..but why would they be looking for Him there? When like me, thousands of years ago, He walked out. And the stone was rolled away. That response alone deserves a response and we can choose how to act, by the demonstration of how we live our lives.
The waves were combing the beach during a rising tide.
You can’t rake up the rain or box in the sunshine or even plow the clouds, but you can love. And I hope my example has been a reminder.
You don’t let me live in that fantasy for long, do you?
“Where does a man find healing amid so many broken places? How does he find love in the ruins and vine-wrapped pieces of his own soul?”

In this book, it is more of a story of love...young and tragic that envelops in the sense of a loved one's loss. It is a scary thing when we know where the end is coming, but we still struggle to meet the "river's end"....slowly but surely we all meet a death to everything in our lives...whether it be people or jobs..whatever it may be. This story is about opportunity that comes with the inevitable and grasping everyday to its fullest even when others may not approve of our actions! It is about following your heart's end...and realizing that our hearts don't have a final beat until we are swallowed up too and taken.
*Sidenote* Every main male character is always so romantic and giving of his heart to the woman he loves, that Charles Martin writes about....which I love! :))...more
