I love reading nonfiction novels. And Fighting the Devil, by Jeanne Walker is one of the best True Crime Novels I have read in a long time.
This is Jeanne Walker's fear, courage, strength and tears in the fight for Justice, for her ex-husband, Texas Millionaire, Jerry Sternadel.
After Jeanne and Jerry's divorce, Jerry married LouAnn. A life of love and happiness, was far from what Jerry faced, while married to LouAnn. As LouAnn showed her unrepentant colors, Jerry found out just how much love and happiness LouAnn had for him, as he lay strapped to the hospital bed being poisoned by the one person he vowed to spend the rest of his life with.
He suddenly found his life encompassed with a malicious death wish by non other than his wife LouAnn and his bookkeeper. Laying helpless in LouAnn's demoralizing world, Jerry blurted out the truth on numerous occasions, only to be further sedated and unremittingly poisoned until he ultimately lost the will to fight.
Jeanne Walker writes of the heartbreaking true events, court records, conversations and witness reports, in a vow to bring Justice in the murder of Jerry Sternadel.
This novel left me wanting to read more, wanting to know what happens next, what is going to happen to LouAnn and the bookkeeper. I never expected to read the ending that I read. But I know even though Jeanne Walker and her children found themselves victims in the Criminal Justice System, Jeanne is proactive in this fight for Justice, and I feel the ending we all wish to read will someday be told.
