I liked the process of the h/h learning to love instead of the insta-love even with the attraction including the reasons they married to begin with.
These historicals Balogh writes are a relief from many other genres because its not always the instant swoon, instant love, instant everything without a single thought to creating a foundation for its main couple. If Wren and Alex had been all over it from the get go I don't think I would have stuck along for the rest of the book but Balogh didn't fail me.
I love the cover art, I love the story and the characters Balogh creates in Someone to Wed there are just a few things that kept me from completely falling in love that I felt were more of a me thing rather than an issue in the book which kept me rating it with more stars however that doesn't take from how much I enjoyed the rest of it.

The past verse present lay over dialogue was a tad complex for me as the reader as well as poor Leah.
I still enjoy the new concept as the whole reincarnation thing isn't often used in romance I would like to see more of it in the future.
Confusion aside I felt Davidson did a much better job bringing the reader in this time around, making it worth a revisit to this series. My interest in the third installment is also piqued....more

I vastly enjoyed the differences between this installment verses the first one however its closing for the book was a mirror of the first which was kind of a disappointment since I assumed that it would be different from the first due to the fact that the book for the most part was different. Still I really enjoyed our h/h - the secondary cast is great I loved their personalities I loved the plot which was ten times better than the first in keeping my attention and my enjoying it. Lyons continues to improve and provide us as readers a fantastic series to love. PS Love the car scene. *wink*

But as her quest turns to sizzling chemistry and inescapable danger, she'll soon discover the thrill of being caught in a dragon's claws.
I thought it was really refreshing getting a historical paranormal rather than a futuristic or current day one I especially love the Highland Dragon. Yum. Two bumps for the author both for her writing style and author voice, I highly enjoyed it. I favored the character and plot development which was long in detail however considering its the first book starting a new series for the Highland Dragons I thought it was a great start. I think I really needed something fresh in this paranormal romance genre that didn't feel as if it was cut and pasted fill in the blank formula that many books these days feel they've been doing. I really needed this book at this time. Thanks Miss Cooper for a great read.

Chasing Red was an okay read but I would suggest maybe slotting the book as an NA rather than Adult romance due to some of the more immaturity and mentality of its h/h which kind of reminded me of a West Side Story type of romance for the younger minded readers working their way from teen to adult period. Opposites side of the tracks kind of relationship for those who really like those type of love stories Chasing Red totally works. But I felt there could have been more character development that brought them further along as a couple and as individual people.

Not knowing whom they can trust, and with war hanging in the balance, the survivors must go dark and scatter around the globe.Marine ecologist Annie Henderson joins her new boyfriend on a trip to the Western Isles of Scotland to protest a hazardous offshore drilling venture. When she realizes that she may be swept up in something far more dangerous than she'd intended, there is only one man she can turn to. . . . She and the mysterious but sexy dive boat captain haven't exactly gotten off to the best start, but something about his quiet confidence makes her think that he's the kind of man she can depend on. Because he's gruff and guarded, she can tell Dan Warren has secrets. But she could never imagine how high the stakes are for him to keep his cover, even as he risks everything to protect her. .
Crazy busy, could have used a glossary or some kind of diagram of how everyone is connected and could have focused more on the main h/h but McCarty did spend a lot of time world building which she does so great. The romance kind of took a back seat while the world building and character building began taking form to build the plot for this new world. As a start I am quite impressed with how well McCarty has done transitioning from historical romance to contemporary. Readers also get more than one romantic involvement which sets up some couples for more installments in the future for our Lost Platoon guys. I look forward to reading more books in the future.

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it’s not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman—it’s the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite. Now, someone has put a bounty on her head…Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael’s private guard, and he’s as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly’s. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself—because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening…No one is safe.
A lack of romantic interest both for the h/h but I think the story was less about the h/h and more about pushing further the world for more books rather than focusing on any intimate purpose for them to be in the book. It did have lots of Singh's talented action and crazy great plot but it lacked in the character building I typically enjoy in her work. Still a decent read but it felt like a juncture to continue or possibly create a new jump off series connected to this one.

Alone, bereft and faced with a mountain of debt, Nina quickly loses her life of luxury and she begins to question whether she ever really knew the man she married. Forced to move out of her family home, Nina returns to the rundown Southampton council estate—and the sister—she thought she had left far behind. But Nina can’t let herself be overwhelmed—her boys need her. To save them, and herself, she will have to do what her husband discouraged for so long: pursue a career of her own. Torn between the life she thought she knew and the reality she now faces, Nina finally must learn what it means to take control of her life. Bestselling author Amanda Prowse once again plumbs the depths of human experience in this stirring and empowering tale of one woman’s loss and love.
I thought the Art of Hiding could use some extra information in some places but I really enjoyed this book despite being so short and lacking some information because it touches on the fact that not everyone realizes that once you've become someones wife and mother of their children a part of a marriage and a family and a social group that you can sometimes lose who you used to be in the middle of it all, and trying to find yourself again is more difficult than you think especially when you learn that some things about the man you were married to weren't on the up and up. Trying to find who you are and how you lost your way is only half the battle and I wish we'd gotten a deeper exploration of that. Still, its a great read and a great book.

We continue the new mix up that the bad guys aren't really bad guys anymore and that the real bad guys are evil or assumed to be evil must be conquered through love which is brought in by the women who don't actually do a whole lot or serve much of a purpose other than to empower the men who don't really fight anymore.
There's a lot of old dogs learning new tricks, men waiting for their child brides to grow up so that they can mate with them and be whole, crazy cameos, and some ackward not so thrilling circumstances that put it all in motion. Whats the most obvious is that despite this series being so long in installments Feehan obviously doesn't plan on stopping any time soon. This book spends a lot of time building up connecting her worlds and expanding them for more future series and installments but over all it was an okay read.

I really felt for Angel.
I felt for Angel when she revealed to the Mackay's her mother in particular and the group her secret and she was treated the way she was. It was awful. I actually cried. It broke my heart.
Even after she left and was forced to come back and deal with them after the way they acted it was like her feelings didn't matter what so ever to any of them.
It didn't matter at all what Angel needed or wanted emotionally or mentally after that experience all that mattered was that the Mackays didn't want to feel guilty for the way they treated her, so to make them feel better about themselves she was forced to come back despite how she felt and was manipulated into it. I hated that.
Its insensitive, its cruel, and everyone dismissing it as if it didn't matter upset me.
What's more is that I was insanely disappointed in the Mackays because of how they acted toward her. Where did all that cruelty come from even if was to protect Chaya? They're harsh and cold and the whole situation made me sad. The whole thing dominated the story for me beyond the intense plot and the love story because I was stuck on the interaction that started the whole thing. I liked the story and everything was really great but that one thing really effected the way I've felt about the Mackays this entire time....more

The rating for this one was mainly my fault I think or well, it was actually bad timing. Oddly enough I had just finished watching the news on television when I started reading this book. The biggest thing that kept being played was a special about a guy in prison having a sexual involvement with a female guard who worked at the prison he was at and how she got in trouble because cops that work in the prison aren't supposed to have inappropriate relationships with the prisoners. Then I go and pick up this book and essentially get the same thing except the female is a parole officer etc. So the entire time I'm reading this book that's all I can think about is seeing this news report on tv and my mind just kept going there. Redemption is written fairly well and its characters are good and I liked the story but at the same time I wish I hadn't watched the news prior to reading this book. So sorry Rhodes, that kinda affected how I mentally saw this book play out in my mind. It was too odd a mesh between fiction and reality. I may have to come back to this one later on.

Beat had some good parts and... it had some other parts... Most of it was drama involved other was the whole broody vs angsty vibe. I'm not sure which kind of got on my nerves more. After awhile I kind of felt like okay, I get it. Along with the sweaty panty sexual not so sexual attraction obsession which leads to some hot not so hot encounters and a questionable scene which didn't quite sit well with me. There was a lot of wish wash non investment with the h/h and after awhile I didn't really care if they overcame their issues which - cliffhanger - ugh, never really is answered. The year is 2069. Sixteen-year-old Derry and her brother live in perpetual fear of capture. They survive underground on a post-apocalyptic earth overrun by gangs and clones, and hunted overhead by mysterious hoverships. When her brother goes missing, Derry’s only hope of finding him is to strike a deal with a group of cutthroat subversives. Desperate to save her only sibling, she leads a daring raid to uncover the secrets behind the Sweepers’ hoverships, but she soon finds out the world she knows is a lie.
So it wasn't bad, it wasn't great. I felt like I read it before but most YA dystopian books are nearly interchangeable these days. Cut and paste most of the basics change a few minor details and you basically have the same story with the same character traits and plot lines. I think Immurement stands a better chance with someone who isn't burned out on these kind of reads. But as for me I think I might have gotten a little too much of the YA teen angst love angle involving a young heroine who is supposed to be a lot braver and stronger than she actually is who is willing to sacrifice what should be important for a more than obvious compulsive obsession with a boy.

M.J., her partner Gilley, and their client, the wealthy, de-lish Dr. Steven Sable, are at his family's lodge, where his grandfather allegedly jumped to his death from the roof-although Sable says it was foul play. But the patriarch's isn't the only ghost around. The place is lousy with souls, all with something to get off their ghoulish chests. Now M.J. will have to to quell the clamor-and listen for a voice with the answers...
Its taken me a long time to put in the effort to read and write a review for self proclaimed psychic and author Victoria Laurie's book What's a Ghoul to Do because when I bought her books I wound up stumbling onto the whole Amazon/ DAM/ Reader vs. Author / Blog drama when I looked up her social pages since I wanted to know more about her.
I didn't care for what I learned. So I shelved her books and forgot about them for awhile.
I wasn't fully convinced that I was eager to read books with the Zombie/Ghoul themes since I'm not a big fan of the whole zombie movement. I mean no insult to fans of both. My fault at the time for not knowing that there actually is a difference between the two. Eventually I found my interest was piqued by someone who turned me onto Diana Rowland's Zombie series. I read the books and was forced to admit that I rather enjoyed them. A lot. So I figured since I still had Laurie's books on my shelves I might as well give those a go now that I was willing to give the undead a turn and now that Laurie's whole I'm out to punish all negative reviewers escapades was over - just in case I didn't like them either.
What's a Ghoul to Do was interesting - not really for me when it came to her portrayal of her characters personalities. MJ kind of felt too childlike/ valley girl for me to feel interested in her. I'm the complete opposite of that so its hard for me as a reader to relate to that kind of character. Most of Laurie's characters felt like on one hand they were described as this fascinating person but on the other, the moment that character actually did or said something it reversed everything that had been built up about them that made me interested in them to begin with. I do think that there is potential in this series being really good with some minor changes I just didn't think as the first installment to a series that it was all that great. It probably would have been better suited as a YA book if Laurie took out the more adult content (its not explicit just adult geared) and kept her characters young since the maturity level of her characters feel more like children/teenagers than an adults.
The biggest reason I wanted to read the books - my wanting to get into the zombie/ ghoul thing... I have to admit I'm a poor candidate to judge the level of ghoulishness of this book. The only thing I have to compare it to is Rowland's books and unfortunately What's a Ghoul to Do doesn't even begin to compare. I hate that because its not fair to Laurie but that's all I have to base it on right now. In my mind What's a Ghoul to Do just felt more like a clever title than actual ghoulishness in the book. In the end I think I was the wrong reader at the wrong time for this book and this author. But I encourage you to give a try. See what you think. Could be maybe you'll enjoy it more than I did. I'd be interested in hearing what your thoughts are if you have read it.

I loved Grace to the Finish, I loved the cover art, I loved the characters, the story, I pretty much loved it all which really kind of bums me out because now I want to start this series from the beginning and read it all the way through and I just found out that the author is bringing the series to an end. Sad way to meet such a great book is when its coming in on its last leg. If you haven't read the previous books in this series the author makes it fairly easy to slip in and understand what's going on enough to be able to follow along without too many plot or character gaps which is always great but there is definitely story on both ends that I want to know more about. Grace to the Finish is fun, its well written, its one of the best cozy mysteries I've read in a long while.

From the streets of Dallas to Austin’s high-tech business world, Drew and Shelby play a game begun twenty years before—a game they will win, or die trying.
Alright so Revenge is the third book in the Lawless series if you haven't read the previous books I highly suggest you start at the beginning this isn't a journey you want to start without knowing where it all began. The whole family involvement is heavy and complex so pay attention because details are important in Revenge. Shelby and Drew were great together and I liked that Blake really tried to go out on this series with a major climax but in some ways it sort of went a little beyond which sort of crushed my belief in some of the things that came up... but when you're trying to make it go might as well go all out. So hey, I give Blake props for that but it made me conflicted about how many stars I wanted to rate this book. I must confess I'm a little partial to the series and seeing as how I was wanting to know what the final reveal would be I uprated. Revenge is a great read.

As family and friends gather for a wedding, Taylor starts to imagine a permanent life in Baltimore. But not if the real monster gets to her first..
Monster in the Closet is a crazy intense book. Rose is amazing, the multiple character story lines and the journey she takes into the mind of Gage and his justification for what he does and who he becomes is seriously disturbing. I have to give Rose mad props for creeping me out the way she did in this book. Poor Jaz was valiant and amazing and despite being broken by what she witnessed she managed to carry the more delicate emotions of the reader. I really liked getting to see the journey the cops took, the one Gage took and the journey of the victims in this book took. There is so much going on and it really sucks you in right from the get go. Monster in the Closet is disturbing, its dark, its emotional and very well done. I have to give Rose credit for the places she must have had to go mentally when writing this book more than just a romantic suspense this book is a serious suspense write but it also pens a journey that tells how dark family relations can go when one of them goes scarily wrong. If you haven't read these books before I highly suggest it!

Billionaire playboy Ricco Ferraro knows no other life. Being a shadow rider is in his blood - but so is a haunting desperation stemming from the secrets of his dark past. His recklessness puts not only his life at risk, but also the future of his entire family. To save them all, he must find a woman who can meet his every desire with a heat all her own...Just when Ricco has given up hope, he meets her - a mysterious woman whose shadow connects with his. She's someone looking for a safe haven from the danger that has stalked her over the last several months. In Ricco's embrace, she finds one. But the darkness in which they so often find sanctuary can also consume them.
I always know when I'm reading a Christine Feehan novel, the characters always come from a traumatic past, they've been victims, they have serious complex issues, the men are mirror images of eachother and the women are always doubly emotional creatures dependent on the love from the men who are obsessed with them and its almost always instant love from the get go and the entire story revolves around them having sex while the rest of the plot simply takes place. Shadow Reaper was fairly good and felt much like coming home with Feehan's typical formula so I kind of enjoyed it although as the second book in the shadow series it wasn't as good as the first one which kind of bummed me out considering how much I was looking forward to reading Mariko's story. I was hoping she would be just as strong willed as she was in the first book but she felt a little overly too sensitive and a little less independent this time around. I do like the concept of how the riders use the shadows - I do wish we had spent a lot more time using them. I look forward to reading the next book in the series and hope our riders gain victory.

Internationally acclaimed crime writer Jo Nesbø’s antihero police investigator, Harry Hole, is back: in a bone-chilling thriller that will take Hole to the brink of insanity. Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf. Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother—and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn in an increasingly terrifying game whose rules are devised—and constantly revised—by the killer.Fiercely suspenseful, its characters brilliantly realized, its atmosphere permeated with evil, The Snowman is the electrifying work of one of the best crime writers of our time.
The Snowman was my first Nesbo book and even though its the seventh book in his Harry Hole series (interesting character name choice) it wasn't difficult to follow along. Even though I have a feeling I was missing some bits of information that may have carried over from previous installments I don't think it was mandatory to know them to invest in this story. I'm rather surprised with the graphic detail that was written into quite a few of the more.. disturbing scenes (dark muse alert) but it wasn't hard to guess the who and why when its pretty much given away close to the beginning of the book. I did get a laugh from the intimacy scenes - honestly, some men shouldn't write about sex. That little failed nugget aside I'd be surprised if this author hadn't killed someone before because he taps into the mentality almost too perfectly. Hole is an odd character that makes references to a lot of things in a cultural sense that I don't think he really understands which makes some of the things he thinks or says feel a little disjointed yet despite that I'm a little intrigued by this odd man. Determined Hole uncovers a connection to an on going killers spree he has to prove isn't just random but part of an entire slew of murders tied to the Snowman. Its a tad creepy at times a little boring in others but Nesbo manages to tap into some dark spectrums of detail few writers are willing to explore. All in all The Snowman was a decent read.
I read The Snowman after receiving a recommendation from Tigus.

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that’s exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater Bears, brings with him.Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence—her mind clear of all emotion—Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That’s what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious…and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan. Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed..
It kind of cracks me up how Silver Silence is one big tale of smothering someone who doesn't have the feels with love and affection until they open their heart and mind to the possibility of love. The whole "I'm killing you with kindness" thing amused me through most of Silver Silence. The book can be read as a stand alone entry into the new series that connects to the Psy Changelings without being lost but it can be read as a part of the on going series to the Psy's if you're already a fan and deep into it. I have to admit I've never been a fan of the bear-shifters, bear wares etc in romances - I just couldn't get into them as an animal that would draw some kind of romantic image yet Singh manages to indulge her readers in some honey licking fun anyway. :) If you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend it.

Vicki Nelson, formerly of Toronto’s homicide unit and now a private detective, witnesses the first of many vicious attacks that are now plaguing the city of Toronto. As death follows unspeakable death, Vicki is forced to renew her tempestuous relationship with her former partner, Mike Celluci, to stop these forces of dark magic—along with another, unexpected ally…Henry Fitzroy, the illegitimate son of King Henry VIII, has learned over the course of his long life how to blend with humans, how to deny the call for blood in his veins. Without him, Vicki and Mike would not survive the ancient force of chaos that has been unleashed upon the world—but in doing so, his identity may be exposed, and his life forfeit.
Okay, so I need to clarify a little bit something I discovered which is the fact that the original books and the tv tie in books are just a teensy bit different. The changes aren't drastic but they are noticeable to those who have read the original prints. I didn't know there was a difference when I got my copy of Blood Price but once I discovered the tv series I was curious and found out about the different books. Both I want to say after reading the different editions are great books both for their own reasons but if you prefer the tv series the tv tie ins will probably appeal to you more with the minor changes they included to follow more closely to what viewers saw in the show and those who didn't care for the show or watch it will probably favor the original book. Blood Price original is much slower to gain momentum when it comes to plot and character relation between Vicki and Henry which is supposed to be a main focus since they mostly drive what's taking place in tv tie in but its not that way in the original. It becomes more complex in the original but its more passionate as far as attraction in the tv tie in. For me personally I liked both versions and I thought they all had their own merits but if you want to be more focused on the plot I'd go with the original version but if you're more interested in the character development then I'd suggest the tv tie in. I read Blood Price after receiving a recommendation from Chris' Fish Place.

Major Calbourne Rutherford returns to England on the trail of an assassin, only to find he’s become Lord Ashendon, with the responsibility for vast estates and dependent relatives. Cal can command the toughest of men, but his wild half-sisters are quite another matter. They might just be his undoing. When he discovers that Miss Emmaline Westwood, the girls’ former teacher, guides them with ease, Cal offers her a marriage of convenience. But strong-minded and independent Emm is neither as compliant nor as proper as he expected, and Cal finds himself most inconveniently seduced by his convenient wife.Emm knows they didn’t marry for love, yet beneath her husband’s austere facade, she catches glimpses of a man who takes her breath away. As pride, duty and passion clash, will these two stubborn hearts find more than they ever dreamed of?
Funny, sexy, sweet, Marry in Haste is a great read. A little slow at the start but once I got into it I was sucked in. The amusement of Cal's struggles to understand and the constant clashing between him and Emm were totally amusing. Made me enjoy the slow build of their relationship instead of making it an instant got it all involvement. I liked that both they and we as readers had to work to a happy ending, past their tragedies to open their hearts. I really enjoyed Marry in Haste from beginning to end.

Allison Trent doesn’t look like a hacker. In fact, when she’s not in college working on her degree, she models on the side. But behind her gorgeous face is a brilliant mind for computers and her real love is writing—and hacking—code. Her dream is to write a new security program that could revolutionize the tech industry.Hotshot FBI agent Liam Scott has a problem: a leak deep within his own department. He needs the skills of a top-notch hacker to work on a highly sensitive project: to secretly break into the FBI servers and find out who the traitor is. But he can’t use one of his own. He finds the perfect candidate in Allison. Only, there’s one problem—she wants nothing to do with his job and turns him down flat. What Liam doesn’t know is that Allison is hiding secrets that she doesn’t want the FBI to uncover. But Liam will do nearly anything to persuade her to join his team, even break a few rules if that’s what it takes. A temptation that could put his job—and both of their futures—on the line…and longing for more .
If you haven't read the previous books in this series it won't leave you feeling left out or unable to follow along. Wired reads like a stand alone without so many entanglements in previous plots. It wasn't difficult to relate to the arrangements of Liam and Allison's relationship but after awhile it got a little old and the flip into sudden love felt a little rushed. I would have liked to have Ali be stronger than she was but she felt like a push over when it comes to everyone she's involved with. She has a lot of brains and strength but she just lets everyone shove her around and dominate her and tell her how to think and what to do and makes excuses for everyone and their actions. I wish we had gotten more from Liam too because he felt a little too hollow and one sided. Despite the fact that I disliked Ali as a character the story itself was okay.

PR agent Annika Lund can spin any disaster into a win. But revamping the reputation of a notorious Swedish hockey player will take every trick in her arsenal, especially when his agent insists that convincing everyone he’s no longer a playboy is top priority. And that it requires a sham relationship—with Annika playing the part of loving girlfriend. On fire in the rink and in the bedroom, Axl Hammerquist couldn’t care less about being anyone’s golden boy. So when his agent forces him to play nice with a new publicist, he takes satisfaction in being as much of a pain as possible. But the more time he spends getting to know Annika, the more Axl starts to think that being Mr. Nice Guy might be worth it if it gets him the girl.
I'm caught between three and four stars but the cast and their personalities carried All You Need and carried me as the reader through the opposites attract relationship between Axl and Anni. I liked that James opened Anni up to the sports equation and Axl to some normalcy. It wasn't just the h/h that carried the weight of All You Need but the supporting characters had a lot to do with it as well. As many know that is something I like with the books I read is heavy character involvement. Lorelei James wrote a fantastic story that I really enjoyed. Sports and all.
