I really, really enjoyed this book, I enjoyed that it covered two main periods of time, during and just after WWII and 2011. Anyone who knows me or follows my blog will already know I am a fan of historical fiction and crime fiction/psychological thrillers so this was definitely a book that drew my attention.
I really enjoyed the plot and the characters were great, I really liked the characters of Teresa and Fiona and how they dealt with what happened to them in the book (I don't want to give any spoilers). The book is clearly well researched and the writing style for the book is great. I loved the pace for the book and everything worked really well together to make it an excellent story.
This is the first book that I have read in this series and I loved it, it is absolutely fine to read as a stand alone as I did - five stars from me - very highly recommended!!...more
This is the fifth book in the Thomas Bladen series but it the first one that I have read. As I haven't read the previous books I do think that it works fine as a stand alone but I am intrigued now about what happens in the previous books so have just downloaded the first in the series so I can catch up!
This book starts with a bang in the form of a terrorist attack and it is sadly current with the recent terrorist attacks that we have had in the UK. There is just the right amount of suspense in the book for me, it was set at a great pace, the plot was genuine and well planned out and I thought that the characters were great.
Four stars from me for this one - a thoroughly enjoyable read, highly recommended!...more
I am a fan of this author and have read quite a few of his books now and I have to say that they have all been really enjoyable reads - so as soon as I saw that this book, his latest was being released I knew it was one that I would want to read!
I thought that Mike Nelson and Lena Overton were great characters and I loved the relationship that they had, it really helped carry the plot forward. I enjoyed the pace, plot and writing style and I thought that they all worked really well together to make the book one I would defiantly be recommending.
Four stars from me - it is another great book from this author!...more
This is a great story and a really good historical fiction novel. I love the setting and I am a fan of that period of history and crave reading anything by new authors to me.
The plot in the book was well researched and it was historically accurate for the period. The writing style and pace is spot on for the book and I loved the characters and their interaction. They work so well together to give an excellent book all round.
The Soldier’s Return is the second book in the Heaven’s Pond Trilogy, I am yet to read the first book and did not feel at any detriment from this so I would say that the book is fine to read as a stand alone.
Five stars from me for this one - a really enjoyable read!...more
This was a genuinely funny book that I really enjoyed!
It is a very easy read and the characters are great - it is a steady plot that keeps you engaged and I flew through the pages doing my normal just one more chapter at bed time until I realised I was very near the end so might as well finish it!
This is the second book that I have read by Anna and will definitely be looking for more of her books in the future - this is a really enjoyable, light-hearted read that took me away from the day to day tasks. 4 stars from me - highly recommended!...more
I do love reading books set in places that I have visited and love and this is definitely one of those books for me! I also love finding out new crime genre authors and I was delighted to have found Val Penny - this book was brilliant!

I really loved this book, it is dark, gritty, gripping and had me hooked!!
As you read the book you feel as though you are the centre of attention with them, it is fast paced and the plot is so well written it makes it very hard to put the book down. As soon as I started it and read the first few chapters I knew I was in for a real treat.
You go through an awful lot of different emotions reading this book, the suspense used is brilliant and it makes the plot work so well. Every little thing about this book worked for me, right from the cover to the end - it is brilliant!!
No hesitation in giving it 5 stars - an absolutely fantastic end to the series!!...more
The Secret Life of Mrs. London is a heart-wrenching story and I loved it, it really tugged on my heart-strings and I am delighted to have been able to read the story.
The writing style in the novel was excellent, it really helped bring the characters to life and you feel as though you are transported back to the period. It is a very engaging story that is really well told.

Anyone who follows my blog will know that I am a huge fan of Alice’s books so it is probably no surprise that I read this one as soon as it landed on my Kindle!
I love the Highlands and spent my first holiday with my husband there as well as our honeymoon (and other holidays since) so it was lovely to read a book set in the same area! The book is only a short read of 100 pages so it doesn’t take too long to read and I read it one evening happily passing a few hours.
The book centres around the upcoming wedding of Flora, the Receptionist at Glenduff Castle who is marrying her fiancé Joe – I thought that they were both great characters and the supporting cast is just lovely and really helps bring the story to life and show what it is like living in a small village where the whole community gets involved!
I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series – Summer! You can grab your copy of the book on the link below and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did – no hesitation from me in giving this one five stars!!...more

This is the first book that I’ve read by Scarlett Cole and I have to day I thoroughly enjoyed it and I love the cover!!
The book is set at a great pace and I loved the main characters. The plot is well planned and the writing style is great, it is as very easy read.
This is the second book and I haven’t read the first and I do think that put me at as slight disadvantage as the story runs straight on but there is enough detail about what happened to still make it a very enjoyable read. I’ll be reading the first one at as later date now to see what I missed!
Four stars from me for this one, highly recommended!!...more
I do love historical fiction and I was intrigued by the blurb and cover for this book. I have read a little bit about this period of history so was keen to get started on the book.
It is a very well written book that is well researched and accurate in its portrayal of what was happening in the area at that period of time - the characters and believable and it certainly makes for a really good story.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and the second that I have really enjoyed! This one works well as a stand alone but if you want to follow the series you are best to start with the first book as you learn more about the background of the main characters and this runs through in the background of both books.
This has a really good plot with some twists and surprises that I didn't see coming - I really enjoyed going back in time to read the story and catching up with the characters. Five stars from me for this one, the series is getting better for me! I am looking forward to more from this author!!...more
