And their "game" of not giving their real names. Instead Rafe became Lord Bodyguard and Anne became Mrs. Dazzling. I totally enjoyed how interesting both Anne and Rafe were. They were complex, had depth and kept my interest. Rafe had it right when he later said that she was fearless. She was also honest in what she wanted and wasn't afraid to go after it. She constantly surprised Rafe, who becomes enthralled by her against his will. He did NOT consider himself a good man and felt she deserved better. Rafe had a lot of secrets but he had done what he had to in order to survive. Not only his survival but that of his sister, Selina was always one of his main focuses. It had been a grim life for both of them for many years. Beatrix was almost like a sister to Selina so she became the "pretend" sister for many years. She added to the story as did Anne's sister, Jane Pemberton. There were a few times where the story seemed to slow down but it didn't keep me from continuing on. There are several mysteries and dangers in the story. But it all comes to a dramatic confrontation and a H.E.A.
On a side note, I probably should mention that there were several heated love scenes that were well done. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that there was plenty of humor even with some of the serious things that are going on.

The part about the women who made up the Red Rogues was an interesting part of the story. They had dubbed each other to be like The Three Musketeers, for life. Francesca was one of those bold ladies; probably the boldest of the three. She'd also learned to be tough, shrewd and ruthless when needed. She had to become that way with added physical skills in order to deliver the revenge she was after. She definitely developed into one fierce, little warrior. Someone who was often underestimated because of her gender and her size. This was no brainless "little woman". Chandler was quite the mystery in the beginning and at other times throughout. He had so many secrets too. None that I plan on revealing in this review. It's too good to spoil for other readers. One thing that did become clear as the story went on was that he was after revenge also. Among some of the other good secondary people was Serena, the Romani woman. She added a lot to the story. She was there in the beginning of the story and I liked the phrase that she used about Chandler and Pippa. She always used to say that Pippa had the soul of dragon and Declan Chandler had the soul of a tiger. There is plenty of action, and dangers in this story. One of the biggest dangers comes from the "cult" leader of the Crimson Council. He's one nasty piece of work and that leads into at least one "R" rated scene. The "romance" was just as unusual as the whole story. I liked how things got worked out after a whole lot of pain and quite a few secrets get exposed. It kept me involved every step of this intense story.

To be honest, it almost felt like it was taking over the story itself. Don't get me wrong. The scenes were well written but they also were way too many for me. And several issues kept being gone over time and again. That I didn't care for as much either. By the time where the dangers were coming from was exposed, it felt a bit anti-climatic. Although there was a surprise secret that I wasn't expecting from Sallie. I just wished I had liked the story more.

Although she loved her family, she needed peace and organization. That mainly keeps her on the road with all of her travels. In all of her travels she never found any place that was like home until she was there in Santa Rey. And that really scared her. She still hasn't unpacked any of her bags though because she kind of has one foot out the door.
What's not to like about Jacob? I liked how it was explained that he told her what was on his mind and expected her to be mature enough to deal with it. Things were sizzling between them even when they were supposed to stay apart during the murder investigation.
Eight Dates in Eight Day was an intriguing idea. It's interesting how things developed from there. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil it for other readers.
Willow is probably the first BFF that Bella has had. Because she let her boss/ friend in closer than she's ever let others. Willow also brings in some humor but there is also other times that things made me smile.
There is a definite danger and it took me quite a while to suspect a specific person and a possible motive. But when it's revealed I went, "Aha, it was who I thought and why." The story has a really good ending too.

It just didn't draw me in as much as I had hoped but that might also be a personal issue. I mean both of the main characters were 30 years old or close to it. And each one of them is being controlled by their parent? I hate stuff like that. I wanted them to get a backbone and fast. Especially since they were so successful in business. But I also understood that they had been raised up in this and it's going to take some time.
There is plenty of writing that makes it easy to visualize the places, clothing, homes and other places. That was well done. So was the feelings and emotions of the main characters. H.E.A. included

They went from friendship to love and stayed there, planning their future. That is until Lily makes a bonehead decision, in my opinion. I understood the why of it but it had me shaking my head. It made me smile that Lily had a couple of nicknames fro Maverick. The best one was probably Moosh. She came up with that because Maverick was mushy with her and she was less so. She noticed that also tended to be the same with some of the other family members. The men were softies with their women and the women were not exactly like that. The love was there for all, the expressions were just a bit different. The book had a somewhat slower pace than I normally like but it does take the time to establish what both of the M.C.'s families were like. And also the Club "family" because that's what they were, included into the part of the family. All these people made for good secondary characters but without being confusing. The Club family was a bit different in their dealings than I expected. But in some ways they still didn't give information about Club business unless you were patched in. The dangers that were facing Lily were real. Because most of it was aiming at her, it soon also included others that she loved becoming targets. The main person behind it was a surprise and so was the twisted reasoning too.

I have to admit that the Prologue with Emmett's thoughts had me raising my eyebrows.
Both Emmett and Jenna were good main characters though. It was made plain throughout the story that Emmett was always doing what was expected of him but almost nothing of what HE wants. Jenna wants a baby in the worst way. She is an independent, strong woman who is running the business of her dreams; which is struggling.
So, the story had plenty of sex because remember Jenna's goal is a baby, right? Good main characters, hot sex, a struggle to trust, a secret they didn't know about, some humor and a H.E.A. There is a good Epilogue included.

It was emotional and both of the main characters had really good depth. They also had a deep history between them as well and shared some of the pain from the misunderstandings and lack of forgiveness. They both just kind of put their past in a box and refused to look into it. Just to survive.
I loved how tight Zack and Tyler (Sarah's son) became. They made a connection really quickly. They were two "guys" who got each other. They also had a lot of fun. It added humor to the story.
Along with the humor there is the danger that Sarah is in and she isn't even sure why she is. Zack is keeping secrets especially about that. But he really has to. It really makes it tough on both of them because the love between the two of them never really ever died.

Beer is not George's friend. He drinks it and doesn't remember much after that. He is also kind of a wimp who is constantly being run over by other people and I didn't enjoy his "loser status". His friends are generally unlikable as well, especially Lennon.
And Minty "The Princess"? Whether or not she was a real princess or not, I just found her totally obnoxious.

But with a heart of gold that often gets her into trouble. Hence, being felt up by a really hot agent. She cracked me up with all of her attaching names to different "moods" of Jude. As she got to know him more she saw him in "Jude Fury", and "Slow Motion Jude", to name a few. Of course this is all a conversation in her head you know. Even as an independent woman who makes her own decisions, she finds herself agreeing to things that she hadn't planned on. She concluded she must be in a Jude induced coma or fog, a place that she often finds herself in. But don't be thinking that Jude gets his way ALL the time. Because that's just not happening. I also enjoyed Gabby's dual "jobs"- one in accounting and the other as an unofficial decorator. Both which she works to her advantage. There's a fair amount of information on her decorating flair. Jude, well he was hotter than James (her ex) according to more than one person and that includes Gabby's way of thinking. The difference in their communication styles was funny too. Jude was a man of few words while Gabby was a ramblerHer insecurities often pop up. No matter how many times Jude tries to reassure her, she just can't figure out why this hot guy is into her. And Jude has some depths to his past that he hasn't shared with her yet. Yes, you know that's coming out in the worst possible way, right? Gabby has a huge, loud, loving Italian family that adds a whole lot of drama, chaos and fun. They all are on over-protection mode when it comes to Gabby. That includes her cousin, Tony who even admits he is closer to her than even his siblings. We get a quick peek into his story in "Beautiful Life" excerpt at the end of this book. That one is looking good too. I just might have to check that one out. I will say that there was a time or two when the story seemed to slow down a bit. A bit more than I normally enjoy. However, the dangers do start increasing again, coming from several different directions. Also the intimacy between Gabby and Jude definitely increases too. The Epilogue was must appreciated. It was sweet and smile-worthy too. What a good way to end the story.

Even the family dynamics of Danyal's (Danny) family was a surprise but a welcome one at that. They were as close to a normal family than what you usually see in a story about a Sheikh. And I enjoyed that immensely. It goes without saying that I liked Jayne and her feet on the ground but also some stars in her eyes too. Her son, Noah was a hoot and the connection between Noah and Danny was so special. So was some of the funny conversations between the two of them. Noah was one smart little toddler. Danny was one charming, people pleasing person. Some of those actions kept getting him in trouble. He also used humor as a cover. Making people laugh was not only pleasurable but it also diverted people from different things Danny didn't want noticed. As the story goes on we get to see that there is a whole lot more to that part of his story. A fair amount of depth to be sure. I also got a bit of education along the way because I had never heard of Parkour. This story has all the emotion that you could hope for and has a H.E.A. Danny had some growing up to do which he finally does. The Epilogue was also a special touch, looking into their future.

Coll was an interesting mix of sheer physical strength and intelligence. Most people got sidetracked by his size not seeing how smart he was. But Persephone Jones does see it even more so over time. Persephone is hiding in plain sight and is adored by many. She had quite the interesting routine that she used to hide her identity when she left the theater to go home.

Mainly because I don't usually give them to a story that has what I consider a slow pace for such a long time. BUT.. the characters just made me want to go there. Both Ellen and Calum won me over and kept me going. And so did some of the secondary people, like his Grandmother often referred to as Lady F. I liked her and her unorthodox, bossy ways. I wasn't sure at first about her but it didn't take long to see who she really was. Add in an odd dog named Tzar, and a flamboyant "cousin" who dresses and acts dramatically. Another oddity is the house itself which was a surprise touch as well. Ellen has a secret. One that her abusive brother has held over her head to try to control her. I would have liked to have seen more of Gwen although she did show up more towards the end. No reason was ever given for Calum's slipping into his Scottish accent v.s. his Oxford English. But it wasn't too hard to guess that it was probably something that he had to adjust when he went to England. I liked that his Scottish speech was something that Ellen liked though. I also enjoyed the "dislike to kind of a friendship to romance" that got hot at times. They both kept kind of switching back and forth as they tried to find their way. The story was emotional that was well done. Also the ending with a sweet H.E.A. was a plus that made me smile.

We get to see a whole lot more than what we have seen before. And I liked it a lot. In fact, I would say the story is Outstanding, Stunning, with fast moving parts. It was also emotional at times with a smart plot. Oh and, Angus gets his chance to heat up the sheets. We always got to see how smart he was in previous books if you have read them. But in this one, we get to see that he is also a complex, hot guy. A wounded warrior, who draws women to him even though he's not really paying attention to that. So many people are against him when it comes to Lassiter. They think that he is obsessed with a dead man. Also that he is an alcoholic nut. You can imagine how many clashes that sets up. Even some of his team members try to get him to let it go but he just has to know for sure. Speaking of those team members, they were an interesting eclectic group of what others called oddballs. But they worked, they had their skills and had each other's backs. Even Roscoe, adds his unique characteristics and skills to the story. That would be the sneak a drink dog who "belonged" to Angus. The stuff that Nari, (who I liked a lot), has had to put up was the first of several surprises. There will be plenty of those though. Plenty of action, danger, surprises and the ultimate surprise towards the end. Loved it. Enough to give 5+ stars on Amazon when it opens for review. There is also a teaser for Rebecca Zanetti's next book in her Dark Protector Series (Rebel's Karma). And yes, that one looks pretty good too.

It was nothing like what I was expecting but that was also a really good thing. I remember thinking, "What?". The emotional parts also had great depth without being sappy. About the time it seemed like things happening in Lexi's life was clear that's about the time another curve was thrown. It made for an intense and a"grab you" kind of story. I also joined in with the laughter of Gavin's team of friends. That was when it came to the obnoxiously named drinks that Lexi was sending Gavin in the bar. Every time he made a misstep with her, he got a drink like "Pain in the Ass" or "Duck Fart" just to name a few. Hilarious. The other people in the story added without overwhelming. I feel that even if this is the first story a person has read in the series it would still be a good standalone. The story kept me involved all the way through. The terrorist plot was a bit of a surprise and had some elements of what our world is facing right now. While that made me a bit uncomfortable, the story was just too good to miss.

This story starts out with the danger clearly shown. It makes for a good start. Then things slow down a bit for a while. A lot of that has to do with This story starts out with the danger clearly shown. It makes for a good start. Then things slow down a bit for a while. A lot of that has to do with Hazel as she is being hidden by Heath and we get to know his family. Hazel only gets to see snippets of his family as she is hiding. That part is sweet and so is Hazel getting to know Heath. Don't worry though, the danger to Hazel is still out there and there will be an uptick of it towards the end. Hazel has a fair amount of British slang which I felt might have been a bit overdone. And even her mother says she has a motor mouth. Heath is an overworked businessman who is honorable all the way through. It doesn't take long for the two of them to be strongly attracted to each other. It's a clean romance though, just in case you were wondering. Austin, the Strong family youngest brother was ten years old and added quite a bit of fun and humor.

This has a strong Christian theme with plenty of scriptures and asking for guidance. I didn't have a problem with that. I did however have a problem with all the manipulation going on. And it wasn't just from James, although it might look like it at first.
It was good to see the strong family unity from Neka's family. But it also irritated me on how much pressure they put on her to see things their way. Even her sisters get in on the act, that made for way too many opinions. Okay, her parents were protective but they also still treated her like she was 10 years old. Her mother and father in particular I began to dislike a lot. They kept telling her to look to Jesus for guidance. I know your supposed to honor your mother and father but it began to feel like obedience to them was more important than obedience to Christ. At times it felt like they were using scripture to have things go the way THEY thought they knew best. Not a fan of that at any time.

It was an emotional story with good main characters that I wanted to like a lot more than I actually did. It just felt like a bit too much angst and rehashing of several major points. And it was over and over. Like Caleb and his guilt about wanting his best friend Clint's wife. Clint and Caleb had been like brothers. And while Clint had been a good man, Caleb felt/knew he fell way short of that. He also knew very well his other shortcomings. He didn't even really see his good points.
Ellie and Caleb were slotted firmly in the friends category. He had been there for her in the tough, dark days after Clint's death. But she also hadn't moved on. She was just surviving for her daughter Amelia. This was also another spot where it felt like it lingered too long on. Then she comes up with an outrageous wish list that lead to some HOT scenes.

I enjoyed this book. Both Ethan and Julie/Juliet. And not forget feisty Luna, the tiny toddler. She was a hoot.

It was filled with tenderness, humor, danger, action and a romance that starts out carefully.
There is a good secondary cast of people who add to the story. There is even a Russian gangster, Viktor who plays more of a minor but I found interesting part. I wouldn't mind reading his story as well.
Everything comes to a active ending with surprises but also a H.E.A. and Epilogue....more

I liked that Foster was NOT the expected hunk that some stories feature. It was something different and he also had some self-esteem issues because of his less than stellar ripped body. He did however have tenderness, honesty and caring along with his very skilled vet skills and youthful face. It just made me like him all the more. It didn't hurt to find out Cinn was a gorgeous, talented woman who cared so much for others. She often put others before her self when it came to taking care of them. The author strung me along for quite awhile before revealing the "stomach issues" that Cinn had. Mabel who refused to be called Grandma was a whole other bundle of interesting. Slowly over time, we get to know more about her even though she is now dead. Definitely a character with depth. I had my suspicions about the harm that was going on at the shelter and I guessed correctly. HOWEVER, there was so much more to that part of the story and I enjoyed the twists that came out.
I liked how the story ended and the Epilogue was sweet as well. ...more
