This book is unique, in the way that Mr. Walker used talk-to-text to transcribe it, as you can tell by some of the typos. Nevertheless, it's a great look into their lives, how they met, where they grew up, activities they participated in and their work life. They also share information about their own children and grandchildren, which I found helpful, since they occasionally feature some of their family on their IG account.
Being a fan of British TV, the landscape and other features, I really enjoyed the mention of certain areas, landmarks, and housing developments Mr. Walker talks about. I can imagine my husband will be researching many of them, once he takes his turn reading this book.
Overall, a delightful look into two of our favorite people on Instagram. ...more

This book is funny, of course, but it's also filled with real-life moments that made me cry. In this new book, she gives great insight into her life as a rancher's wife, a mom, a daughter-in-law and friend. She also gives tiny glimpses into her faith, which I loved.
I learned a lot about her personally, through this book, and it made me realize just how down to earth she really is. She shares her introverted tendencies and preferences, which is kind of surprising, because she seems like a people person.
Ree shares a lot about her life as a mom in this book, which I could relate to, especially saying goodbye to her girls, when they left for college, and the role each of them played in the family. It made me realize that moms are universal in their love for their children and we all grieve when it's time for them to fly away. Of course, she turns the fact that she's left with all men in the house, into some funny stories, which I could definitely relate to, as well.
Overall, I loved this book from front to back and will gladly read it again in a few years.
It's renewed my love for her cooking show and imagining what the behind-the-scene moments were all about, which she also shares in the book.
If you love Ree, you'll want to add this to your bookshelf!

In fact, I feel like it could lead into a #2 book, to continue the story, because the characters didn't feel finished yet.
The other reason for the 3 stars is the language. In fact, I won't even keep this book on my shelf. It's going in the give away pile (though I hate to pass on that language to anyone else).
I'm so done with good stories being ruined by the continual and ridiculous use of the "f" word. Some places didn't even make sense to stick that word in the sentence. I think it's extremely lazy writing.
That being said, if she continues to up her filthy language game, she's off my list of authors to read....more

I bought her first book by chance, while on vacation, looking for a quick read. I was a fan, ever since!
This book was excellent! It kept me guessing to the very end, which is what I enjoy. The fun part is trying to figure out who did what, getting to the end, looking back and thinking...."Oh! That's why they did this!"
I am giving it only 4 stars due to the unnecessary use of the "f" word, which I will continue to say is a lack of vocabulary skills, but it's almost unavoidable in secular fiction these days. Geez. I would personally hate to be around people that talk like that all day! But, the story was worth reading if you want a good mystery....more

The mystery wasn't all that mysterious, but it did keep you wondering until the last chapter.
I got a little bogged down by the thoughts of the characters as they were on the run. I sometimes think it's a bit unrealistic for a woman on the run to be thinking about how handsome someone is or a potential love connection, while someone is trying to kill her. But hey, I've never been on the run, so maybe it could happen.
I found myself skipping over paragraphs that were more of a sidetrack and wishing there was a bit more action.
But, overall, it was a decent book to throw in your purse for some easy reading.
And, I did love the faith element and the cleanliness of the characters and language....more

This is a great book and by the end, I had come to love the characters. The only drawback was the ridiculous use of the "F" word, which the book would have been perfect without.
There is a twist at the end, that makes it that much more interesting.

It gives some great insight into the real feelings that go on during the show - as in - when the lead has to carry on with multiple dates, even though he's already found the girl for him early on in the season. I love to read these books and then go back to old videos of the show and pick up on the intel their sharing about these scenes.
Other than some stupid language (totally unnecessary), this is a good book, but I have to say that I was never the biggest fan of his (on Becca's season) and still am not a huge fan.
Also, if I were Cassie reading this book, the way he describes his feelings for the other girls in the latter months of his season, would make me very uncomfortable.

The book is kind of a mix of random stories of her life and basically just a way to get to know her better. There isn't really a cohesive theme, other than her just choosing random experiences to share. You definitely walk away feeling like you have a better sense of who she is, which being a listener of her podcast, helps me. Overall, it made me laugh. If you're looking for any Bachelor insider info., you won't really find it in this book. She is a writer who does recaps of the show, but really has nothing to do with the inside workings. ...more

I've not read it entirely, but skipped back and forth to different topics, as I felt I needed to. I don't like the way it refers to God in different terms, such as "Universe", etc., but that doesn't take away from the very practical information that I was looking for in the first place. I didn't buy this book for spiritual guidance and therefore, I can glean what I want from it and still know that God is my ultimate source of knowledge and guidance.

If leadership is going to invest in any book for themselves, this should be it! The local church is full of leaders who think staff should blindly "obey and submit" to them. This is not biblical! When Paul wrote about submitting to authority, it was in reference to men who cared for souls; men who were speaking life and truth over their congregations. This scripture is so misused and with the purpose of leaders lording their power over staff and members.
The principals in this book can be applied to other relationships, as well. Abuse, control, micromanaging, requiring blind and complete submission - these are all characteristics of abuse - whether in personal relationships or the church.
The book gives great advice about how to know when to leave or when to fight it out.
I highly recommend this book to anyone on staff in ministry who feels they are being bullied.

Though I've seen movies portraying her books, I've never actually read any or knew about her life. This book is told from the perspective of her best friend, Anne Sharpe, and it leads to the big mystery of Jane's life......did she die naturally or was she murdered?
The author does a great job of painting the picture of the Austen family and the relationships that take place amongst the siblings and in-laws, which includes illusions of adultery.
The assumed killer isn't revealed until the last 25 or so pages, but in order to fully get the reason behind the alleged murder(s), the book has to set the scene.

Honestly, I felt angry most of the way through it. I'm glad Jeannette wrote her story, but surely she had to know it would stir up emotion in most readers.
The Glass Castle is eye-opening to an entire culture of people who choose their lives - for better or worse and give no care about how it affects their children.
As a parent and now a grandparent, I found it hard to stay non-judgmental at the injustice Jeannette and her siblings endured at the hands of her very selfish and self-serving parents.
I also found it very interesting to read about the West Virginia culture of coal miners and the children that suffered through the daily grind of that way of living.
I was cheering as each child found their own way and totally disheartened to read of their parents following them to their new lives.
Everybody has a story to tell and I'm glad I read this one. It made me want to be better as a parent and certainly as a provider. ...more
