At first, with all the drama and action I thought this could be an interesting (if dark) story. But then it went like this: - Hey, you are tiger shifter. --> *faints once* okay. - Oh, and all those years you were all alone treated like shit in the foster care system, we all watched you but didn't want to help you until we knew you were a tiger for sure. --> okay. - Oh, and we are gonna move to Alaska. ---> Okay! (my only friend was just murdered, but rather than deal with it I don't want to think about it so I'm just gonna run away to Alaska with this dude I just met!) - Oh, oh, and you are actually my mate. ---> Oh, okay. - And I'm an alpha so you will be an alpha too. ---> Oh, okay. - And oh, you are actually a princess, the most valuable female tiger, and the continuation of our whole race depends on you!! ---> Oh, okay.
If it wasn't for the weird insta-mate/oh okay and the 'last tiger princess' crap I'd probably continue reading. But this was too much. ...more

This book is either incomplete, or was hastily scrapped from parts of different book ideas, or I don't even know. At the very least it does this weird thing when you start reading one book, and then half-way through find yourself reading something completely different and wondering what the hell happened. It starts as an interesting story with a heroine running away from danger just to end up in a shifter town with a broken car and no money, where she meets a 'protective growly dark and handsome' bar owner with tragic past. Then suddenly the whole mystery of what happened to her and how her problems are going to be resolved get flushed down the drain with some simplistic explanation and bunch of people dying/gwtting caught behind the scenes, we get a couple of weird timeline skips, and the book turns into 'idiotic relationship angst' with some completely moronic character interactions that make 0 sense. Oh, and also there is the tiger drama thrown in on the sidelines that leaved like a dozen of question marks and makes you feel like you are reading an incomplete book or a random book from the middle of a series, but this book is not even listed in any series as far as I know.......more

But no, there is insta-mate shit and also unfortunately the heroine is extremely annoying. She is called 'sarcastic' when she is outright confrontational and rude, constantly angry and self-righteous. Saying shit like 'well you should have trusted me' when they literally just met and don't know her, and shit like 'I am always right', and gives advices on how the alpha should handle his team. I don't know, I kind of really didn't get any of the interactions or emotions in this book. They are all randomly angry and rude and say childish things to each other that make no sense. ...more

Although, overall, it's just not very thought-through at all. There was exactly 0 reason for the main character to want to be a field agent. She doesn't want to train, she can't do physical exercise or shoot, she can't think like a field agent or follow procedure, the only thing she can do is literally her psychic thing, and it would have made 100 times more sense for her to be a consultant when she can't pull her own weight in the field. The whole set up didn't make much sense. ...more
