I find myself wanted more details and depth to the relationships and interactions. I mean he goes about he and Rice mean so much but there's no real details building that narrative out. He says this is written as an account for his kids and I guess that's what it's written to. Much more a summary with some "what I was thinking" than a true story with depth and that draws a lot of empathy out front the reader.
