The author's vast knowledge of ancient biblical mysteries and archaeology was evident as the plot progressed. We were taken on a ride through the suburbs of Washington, DC, to the Middle East, and finally to Argentina. I had not heard of the Book of Enoch before I read Proof. I am now curious to read more of the Old Testament, and I look forward to reading the sequel once it is available. ...more

Ryan Carlson has written an imaginative story featuring animals in the roles of people involved in the JFK assassination. This novel will be appreciated by animal lovers, and perhaps a teen audience. I was entertained by the novel, but occasionally thrown off track by some typos and repetitive uses of character names, which is why I am giving it a 4 rating instead of 5. However, I would still highly recommend this novel for its creative use of plot and animals as human-like characters. Well done!...more

This fast-paced story takes us on a wild journey from Ireland through the South of France, encountering a rouges gallery of hoodlums and gypsies along the way. The head-hopping between characters, once I got used to the writing style, was reminiscent of a James Joyce novel, but in an all-to-real tale of criminal mischief. Vivid imagery throughout the story made me almost feel the punches and subsequent delirium of Broady. A well-written novel I will not likely forget anytime soon!...more

My favorite two lines, which in a sense capture the theme of the story, are: "We all fall in the shit many times during our lives. The trick is pulling ourselves out again."
This is one of the best books I've read in a while. John Boyne's excellently crafted novel kept me turning pages well into the night. Highly recommended!...more
