This became my first exposure to a movie "princess" there was no Disney VHS when I was a child. I fell in love ❤️ with Prince Christopher along with the mermaid in the story. Little did I know that not too much younger than I had been, my daughter would do the same thing with a Prince Eric. This story is timeless and guarantees to touch every little girl's heart. This author did an excellent job of now reaching our more adult ones'. I could read this again and again and feel the anguish, cry the tears, stare in awe, celebrate and turn to foam. I loved it!...more

The narrators were superb. This was such an intimate story in letter format of a burgeoning friendship through hardships and unrequited love. I greatly enjoy retellings of fairy tales, and this one has become one of my favorites. It's told from the point-of-view of Tinkerbell and tells the story of the relationship between Tiger Lily and Peter Pan. It begins as a friendship between a tomboy who refuses to meet her future within her tribe and a boy who refuses to grow up while still leading his tribe. It eventually leads to love just as Lily is to be wed to the bully, Giant and Pan meets Wendy, a charming girly-girl Lily's exact opposite who charms the Lost Boys who are all looking for a mother. A modern aspect is Lily's loving father Tick Tock, a transvestite who is challenged and disrespected by his tribe's members. Lily loves him with all of her heart, but she learns her love is not enough to protect his shaman's heart. It's a beautiful yet tragic subplot. Hook and the other pirates play a part in the story as well as the crocodile. I recommend this story for all readers who want to be a Toys R Us kid. ...more

This wReally a 3.5 but the audio version bugged me because I had a hard time following the jumps on the time line. There are no warnings or headings. This was not only a bio on Gypsy but also of June and the history of vaudeville and the rise of burlesque. Very interesting information with a great story line Rose was an overbearing, delusional general who lived vicariously through her daughters, whom she refused to view as anything but children. She used everyone in her path. And the fact that these girls never brushed their teeth until they were in the double digits was absolutely astounding to me, but it seems that it was an action many viewed as destructive. I had no idea! June was a major moneymaker, but saw zero profits, finally running away from her controlling parent for a more anonymous lifestyle. Enter Gypsy Rose and her tantalizing training, which was still instigated by her mother. She was under that woman's thumb until the day she died. Gypsy's affair with Mike Todd, Sr is deeply decked into; it's just segmented , so it's hard to follow. I really enjoyed this book. The author wrote from valid sources including an interview with June herself. I recommend ...more
