I love how at the beginning Snyder does a brief recap of Inside Out. During the recap she does use the ISBN number for Inside Out which I totally loved, it was just plain genius!
At the beginning I found Trella to be a bit more childish. After all that she did in Inside Out I would expect her to act a bit more adult like...however Snyder does remind us that she is only 17, and I had to keep that in mind. After all I also did some pretty childish stuff at 17 too. Trella does grow in this book too, she realizes her faults and things she did wrong and tries to correct them.
I know this book is marketed more towards the young adult category, but the relationship between Trella and Riley develops more. Just enough that I consider it a bit too mature for some of the young adults that read, although it wasn't extremely graphic. With that being said I am one that firmly believes that parents/guardians have a much better clue of what is appropriate for the individual child and their maturity level.
While the story line continues with life in Inside, it doesn't repeat itself. The problems are different, so it is just a continuation of what happens after the rebellion and the problems that occurred. It also expands and continues with the story line of Dr. Lamont and Trella, which adds to the book and the problems later on.
I am a big fan of Snyder's and honestly can say this book is just as well written and entertaining as her other books. So I give this book my rating of: LOVED IT!!!! I can't say enough good things about it! ...more

Nolfi asked me to read and review Second Chance Grill, and I immediately jumped at the chance. The reason is that I have loved her previous books Treasure Me and Tree of Everlasting Knowledge. Plus Second Chance Grill is the prequel to Treasure Me, so I wanted to return to Liberty and experience the characters and charm of the town.
Let me just say that if you haven't experienced any of Nolfi's writing you are missing out! She is very talented in drawing the reader in and holding the attention until the very end! Also you connect with the characters to the point that you experience the joys and sorrows that they experience.
Second Chance Grill is another great read! All the elements that I love about Nolfi's writing is here. The story drew me in quickly and I just wanted to keep reading. In fact at the end of the story my e-reader died, and I had to let it charge just enough that I could finish it. I was that involved that I was not happy that I couldn't finish it right then. Especially as emotionally charged as the ending was, even though technically I knew what happened, I needed to experienced it!
The characters are great! Having Mary and Anthony narrate the story is great, since both have things in the past that needed to be revealed. Blossom, while had to deal with a lot for a teenager, has the typical teenager mood swings. Plus all the other native characters you grew to love from Treasure Me make their appearances as well.
So if you can't tell you really ought to pick up this book and the others by Christine Nolfi!!...more

Nolfi is a wonderful story weaver!!! I was sucked in from the first chapter and wanted to know what happens next. Even when I had finished the story I wanted more! The story is told from several perspectives and Nolfi does make it clear pretty quick who is talking. I enjoyed seeing what was going on from other characters, which it also gave me a fuller picture of what is going on. The different plot lines were tied in very nicely too, and didn't take away from one or the other. There is a lot going on that the pace of the book moved quickly, but not too much that I felt like it was over the top.
The characters are also strong characters. I loved all the characters! Even some of the minor characters, which again shows Nolfi's talent as a story weaver! I even felt sorry for Sweeper as he became a victim himself from his surroundings. It doesn't excuse his actions but there is one point you can't help but feel sorry for him.
So if you haven't figured it out yet I LOVED this book!! I believe Nolfi is quickly becoming a favorite author! ...more

I was asked to read and review Work in Progress. The blurb caught my attention and unlike other books lately I couldn't find anymore about the book. So I took a leap of faith and decided to read it. I did enjoy it, and it was a quick read.
It was interesting to me to read from the point of view of the main character since he was depressed. He joins a group therapy session to begin a new life. These meetings allows him to meet the author, musician, artist, and nurse. I also felt that the meetings had also given him the strength to deal with other issues that came up later in the book.
I did like most of the characters as they were quirky, and had different issues of their own. However I did not like Carrah, the ex-girlfriend, which is due to a personal issue. I didn't like her treatment of Danny since it resemble a past relationship of mine. Otherwise she might have been ok, although I still don't think I would have thought the world of her.
I had contacted the Kelvin O'Ralph to review the book and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I must say that II had contacted the Kelvin O'Ralph to review the book and I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I must say that I haven't read a book from the male perspective only recently so it was a nice change from my current readings.
The male lead is Stephen, and he seems to be able to wrap his mind around things a bit more easily than his female counter part Lisa. Lisa is hot tempered and doesn't appreciate her gifts at first. Stephen takes to them right away. The change that both Stephen and Lisa experience is quite unusual. While I wish that O'Ralph went a bit more in depth with the powers and how Stephen was able to understand them more easily, however it doesn't detract from the story.
I did enjoy the romance aspect of the book as well. I was able to get more of the later portion of the book as it was very identifiable for me. The ending is definitely a set up for the next one, and has me wondering what is going to happen next.
I have so many unanswered questions that I am just hoping will be answered in the upcoming book(s). Unfortunately laying them out here would be major spoilers, so when the book comes out, pick it up and read it!
So overall I give this book my Pretty Good rating: ...more

I was approached by Christine Nolfi to read and review this book. Reading the synopsis I was very captivated. When I read the book I wasn't disappointed in the least, it was absolutely a great read! I honestly can't think of anything that I found lacking in this book.
I found Birdie easy to identify with, she was a thief but also had the desire to quit it. She just didn't know where to start even though she knew what she needed to do. Seriously that is me with several things in my life! She also was fairly hard emotionally due to her occupation as a thief and her relationship with her mother. She just needed the right connections to help her understand what was more important than money. I love that the treasure hunt that she was on became so much more than gems, and the real treasures she found came at the right moments!
Theodora Hendricks is quite a character! She has a good natured side to her, but seriously don't cross her...after all she packs a pistol with her! Her interactions with Birdie is very interesting, sometimes motherly but other times a bit harsh. She has a good heart and totally is one of a kind I think.
There are more things I could add, but I don't want to give anything else away..it is a great read!! I give it my Loved It rating!...more

Aradia is entertaining to me...she is a teenager and has all the sass and fire that comes with it. She also stands by what she feels is right. She does make mistakes, but seriously what teenager doesn't make mistakes. Obviously she has special powers, but it is something she always knew about so it wasn't like it appeared out of nowhere. She also had learned a few lessons the hard way about her powers, however it had taught her to control them. She is a great character, and her relationship with the other characters are great as well.
The story line is great, I love that Aradia doesn't really know what she is and slowly finds out about the vampires, werewolves, and fae slowly..after all it would be too much of a shock to find out about all of them at once. She does notice somethings but when it all comes together she isn't totally freaked out. Although considering she knows she isn't normal, her reactions are probably more appropriate than what a non-paranormal person should be.
With that being said there is a point when it became a little too much like Twilight, romance wise. Jones makes a joke out of it, but that is when it became painfully obvious and it detracted from the story a bit for me. I think if she didn't joke about it I probably would have never noticed it. Don't get me wrong I don't hate Twilight, but I didn't want to see parallels to it. However the story does redeem itself and my disappointment didn't last as long as it could have.
This is the first book in a series, and it does end on a cliffhanger to get the readers looking forward to the next one(s). Overall I give this my Pretty Good rating....more
