Another job well done.
I was taken by the positive spin this book put on the future. Then as the story went on and I learned more of their Community, I saw that I wasn't quite right. And that's where the story really takes off.
Jonas is the son of in a family unit of four. One Dad. One Mom. One Son. One Daughter.
There is no pain. There is no discomfort. There is no choice. Even your meals are chosen for you. Life is perfect for Jonas.
That is until he is given his Assignment at his Ceremony of Twelve and everything changes. Or, you could say, becomes more colorful.
I loved this book more than I could imagine, more than I can describe. I recommend highly! ...more

Where'd You Go, Bernadette? is one of my favorite books so my hopes were high, but the reviews for Today Will Be Different were so mixed I kept my guard up in effort not to be let down.
Turns out, there was no need for all of that. While I respect the opinion of the reader who dissented with the love of this book, I could disagree more.
Today Will Be Different carried on in the rhythm and style of Bernadette, which is what I loved about that story. I loved Eleanor from the moment I met her, she is a total hot mess just trying to get through live. And Timby is adorable, I loved that he was along for the ride.
The main story line takes place over the course of one day, with meaty flashbacks to give voice to what made Eleanor who she is.
Best of luck in your next adventure, Eleanor, Joe, and Timby. You will be amazing where ever you land. ...more

I had a very hard time putting it down once I started reading. This book can be read before the first book as they are not true sequel or series. There is one main character that is in both books, and if you do read this book first, you do learn how the first book ended but besides that, this book has full character development and the details that are often lost or redundant in a sequel. The name Shoe Addicts Anonymous is not accurate however; I do understand the want to tie this book to the first. Maybe, The PTO Club would be better! The story is funny and keeps moving along at a quick pace. It is predictable at times but most Chick-Lit tends to be that way. I look forward to reading another Beth Harbison book in the very near future! ...more

I am not a huge fan of romance novels as I usually find them to have a weak story behind a lot of smut. But I picked it up anyway and I am so glad that I did!
The characters are well developed. The story line is deep and goes well beyond hot sex. I really enjoyed this book and found it very hard to put down. ...more

Until one fateful night that sends the next week and the rest of their live in motion.
Kate is freaked out that she is finally meeting the girl she has been in love with from a distance. So she runs.
Mark is out on the town hoping tonight is the night his best friend will realize he loves Mark back.
The two cross paths and we are off in a wild ride. One week. Pride week. The last week of school. So much can change when one is open to that change, and Mark and Kate are the perfect characters, simply because they are both so flawed, to show us that change really can be a positive experience. ...more

This book is 5 chapters long, each chapter telling the story of a small group of characters on the same evening in the same restaurant. There are 5 more stories/chapters in another volume that I am looking forward to reading.
Since they are short stories the character development is limited, but in reading them all we learn more and more about each person. I do warn you, brace yourself, these are dirty stories!...more
