"I would rather love a coward than mourn a legend"
This seems like a hyped book right now and as soon as I found out it is thirty pages long, I got it immediately and read it. I am going to consider this a recommendation from my friend Khadidja since she made me discover it.
I am not going to talk about the story itself because it is just better to go and read it. But Harrow wrote a whole story in just a few pages with excellent writing, great characters and an intriguing plot. I almost never read a short story that has all of these elements but this one had, and it made me respect the author even more. And it is unique as it is written in 2nd person POV.
I did not read the rest of the books in this Amazon short stories series and I don't think I will because this seems like the best one and I am happy with what I read. ...more

It Ends With Us was the first book I read by CoHo and I have read all of her books written after that and none were as good as that one. In fact, it is one of the few books that I gave five stars because it hit all the right notes for me. In fact, most of her books also received high ratings from me due to them being fun reads with important discussions like infertility and abuse among other heavy topics.
The first book resurged again through TikTok which I am not a big fan of. The author decided to release this sequel for the fans, and I was equally excited -I preordered a Hardcover copy- and scared because the first book felt complete, and I did not want it to be ruined for me. The closer we got to the release day the more I questioned the decision and my decision to read this entry.
The last few books I read by CoHo were a bit disappointing and I think she is losing her magic on me and many other readers on the community. To cut things short, this was obviously an unnecessary fan service sequel that proved my fears right.
The writing itself is not as great as I would have imagined. There were not many quotes that I highlighted but it was still gripping, and I finished the book within 24 hours. But one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to sequels is when things change suddenly in a way that makes no sense and also kind of disturbs the first book. I am mainly talking about Ryle here and although he was in no way perfect in the first book, he felt human to me who is flawed but also has a good side. In this book, he turned into a ruthless dark lord in this book which was stupid.
The story line also focuses heavily on the romance between Atlas and Lily and then we have characters that were added to the story, and they show a sequel was not planned.
I mentioned in my instant review after finishing this book that it was not worth destroying Z-Lib for and I obviously meant it as a banter and some people took it too seriously. I don't believe this was the reason the site was taken but it is a butterfly effect for me, and it certainly helped in that.
Summary: Hoover herself said that It Ends With Us was the hardest book to write for her and she was not planning to release a sequel for the longest time because it wasn't written as a book with a sequel. TikTok kind of encouraged her to write this which resulted in a book that feels like an after though, a cash grab and is written for fan service. It ended up being a disappointment and it kind of ruins the halo of perfection I have in my mind that surrounds the first book. ...more

I already read all the books in that world so this does not add much, we already know this story and it did not add anything new to the world. That being said, I only discovered it a few days prior to its release and there was no way I was not going to read it.
The illustrations are very beautiful and fans of The Darkling will certainly love this one. The funny thing is that it works well for both new and old readers of this world....more

I recently saw a rave review and for some reason decided to give it a chance. I mean it is under 100 pages!
My problem with this one is my problem with all novellas. It was too short, the pacing was too fast and there is not enough time to care about the characters. At this point I believe I enjoyed Novellas that are part of series because the author doesn't have to explain the world and magic and everything but when it is a series of it's own like this one, I think it is impossible to do so in such a small number of pages.
Part of me believes I don't understand the story though because I am seeing a ton of positive reviews and I feel like I am missing something. The book even won the world fantasy award but I am cursed with usually not enjoying books that won those fancy awards. I may still give the second book a chance depending on my mood next month....more
