I know that Reich is an intelligent man, so I often wonder if he is pushing several of his points as a political agenda, or out of ignorance.
There were just so many flaws in the first third of the book that I couldn't make it past the half way point.

Overall I really enjoyed it, and particularly the audiobook, which the author narrates. Much of it is filled with personal anecdotes from the author's life, including the loss of his mother to cancer at a young age, breaking his leg during SEAL Hell Week, and then returning later to complete it.

Engaging from the beginning to the end, and the authors do a great job of citing their sources along the way, which is essentially when challenging commonly held beliefs in society today.
The other reviews cover it better than I could, but I'll say it is one of the best reads I've had in the last year.
This book synthesizes the teachings of many disciplines to illuminate the causes of major problems besetting college students and campuses, including declines in mental health, academic freedom, and collegiality. More importantly, the authors present evidence-based strategies for overcoming these challenges. An engrossing, thought-provoking, and ultimately inspiring read.” —Nadine Strossen, past President, ACLU...more

Whether you are a brand new to aviation or have plenty of experience, you'll understand exactly what the author is discussing, as he assumes no prior knowledge.
It was refreshing to hear the view points of other individuals involved in the program over time as well. Despite being 25 years old, I found the content to be relevant even today. ...more

I enjoyed that the author took times to see Concise yet detailed explanation of how the nuclear arms race begin, and how we got to where we are today.
I enjoyed that the author took times to see all arguments around nuclear arms (should we have more? less? somewhere in the middle?) and explain why someone would feel that way.
The author repeats himself a bit, but I actually found it very helpful when understanding some of the more complex topics and parts and how they tie together. ...more

It had that, and so much more.
The author goes into enough detail around the physics of each weapon, from spears to the atomic bomb to teach you something, without diving into the minutia.
I finished this in two sittings, and I originally planned to only read on chapter. I'd highly recommend it for anyone trying to understand the history of, and physics behind, many of the tools which powered militaries across the centuries. ...more

My only concern is that there are --too many-- characters, which makes it extremely difficult to follow. You often have 10+ people from each of the many banks involved in one conversation.
And if you didn't have any context as to who these people were --prior-- to reading the book, you'd really be lost.
It reads like a novel, which I really enjoyed, but I found it difficult to follow along. The audio book is ~15 hours, but I felt it would have be a better listen at around ~10 hours, due to too many unnecessary details being included. ...more

At times I found it difficult to follow however, because sometimes the context for the letter comes prior to the letter, other times the author gives context following it.
Perhaps it was just an issue with the Kindle version, though. ...more

I found it to be useful whether or not someone has a deep understanding of finance, as the author explains not only definitions, but where many of these terms originated. Key reading material from some of the more well known economists are highlight as well.
In the end, the book gives an overview of how some of the best financial advisers became the best, and why everyone else cannot emulate that kind of success. The author finishes with a framework for success, which I'm confident anyone could follow. Typically I find these to be not very helpful, but it was thoroughly explained here. ...more
