Secrets. We all have them. We want to reveal them but when we try things just become more complicated at times. In Finding Our Forever, Cora decides to go in search for her birth mother. While on the search she has to tell her adoptive family a small white lie. This most times causes problems. Cora went looking for a teaching job. She finds herself at a boy’s ranch. While there she meets the ranch manager Eli. Chemistry then kicks in and although most people would think things happened fast it really didn’t. Eli wasn’t very trusting because and Cora needed to find out that her mother would be open to a daughter she had given up.
I found the story while not one of my favorite Ms. Novak’s, still a very touching and heartwarming story. The characters were very real and personable. I found Cora’s quest for her birth mother easy to relate to. I just don’t know how she could keep it quiet. I would have blurted it out.
I really liked Aiyana and I got why she did what she did. It was touching that she was able to adopt all those boys filling their lives with purpose and love; while giving that same purpose and love to the others at the ranch. Eli because of his past has had issues with trust. While being intrigued by Cora and attracted to her, he couldn’t help feeling that there was something that she was holding back. He had problems with that and just when he was beginning to trust her ex steps in and fills his head with doubt. Eli despite his past you couldn’t help but feel for him.
The story line was different than a typical romance…Ms. Novak gave us characters with real pasts, ones with real problems and issues. She showed us what it is like to go in search of something while questioning whether you come out with why you are really there or do you leave things alone. I liked that her adoptive family was a big part of the story also it added depth and another twist or look at things.
I really enjoyed this book about family and the journey to find out why we are who we are. Does that make any sense to you? An enjoyable book that opens your eyes to what some adoptive people go through....more

Contemporary Romance, really any kind of romance to be honest, is what I love to read. Give me a great story with lots of grit, steamy romance, and an entertaining plot, and I’m hooked. This book didn’t disappoint and I love that I get to discover new, at least to me authors, whose work I haven’t read before. I don’t think an avid reader has too many authors to stalk, oops I mean follow.
This is book two of A King Security book series. I didn’t have a hard time following the plot of the story, and I didn’t have a hard time following the secondary characters, so I think any readers who might want to give this book a try will be able to follow along fairly well.
This was an emotionally fueled book; Ms. Fife knows how to bring the angst to a story, in a very good way.
Gray and Zoey are both tortured souls who have endured a lot of “stuff”. Their pasts deeply affect their futures and created who they were to become. This happens a lot in real life as well. Tragedy strikes and it forever leaves a stain on a person’s life, good and bad. It’s a shame that it has to happen. I think Ms. Fife handled Gray and Zoey’s personal, emotional trials and tribulations with a lot of sensitivity, care and tact.
I love the nickname that Gray had for Zoey, Butterfly. It’s such a charming and adorable nickname. It’s really ironic because I HATE butterflies. I really do. I think it all stemmed from a set of sheets from my childhood. I know, I’m weird, but this has already been established.
Even though they both have been through a lot of traumatizing “stuff”, they found each other again and were able to reconnect with each other. The love they had for each other was always there, they just needed time to heal, mature, and find their way back to each other and make it work again. ...more

This book was heavy on the heat, bondage, and punishment, but light on the character connection for me. I thought the romance between Talia and Tomis was lacking and found I had to wade through a lot of sex to try to find a solid story. I wanted to see a deeper bond grow and see the world in more detail. Their attraction seemed to be more crystal base than it did from the heart, which left me … feeling a bit disappointed.
I have to say; I didn’t realize when I choose this book that it was one in a series, so it could be all of this was established in previous books. If you’re looking for a quick, set your knickers on fire Alien erotic read, this will fit the bill perfectly....more

I've been meaning to read a Darcy Burke historical for ages now. But for some reason it just hasn't happened. When the request to review this title came through my email, I jumped on the chance to finally try her work. I'm glad I took the plunge. My only regret is that I picked a book in a middle of a series. That said, the book does stand on its own. I don't believe that I was really missing anything by starting at this point. But I am curious enough to go back and read earlier books.
This is a second chance story. Nick and Violet met when they were young, before Nick inherited a title. They fell in love and then circumstances broke them apart. They never expected to run into each other at a house party and yet here they are. Trying to figure out what to do when they're face to face with the one that got away.
Nick, the Duke of Ice, is an interesting character. He's not had a very good life since he and Violet parted ways. He's lost many people that are close to him and he feels he's cursed. He's determined to block off all feeling and relationships. Yet he starts to thaw when he sees Violet again.
Then there's Violet. She ends up in a loveless marriage and regrets what happened with Nick. She sees this chance reunion as an opportunity for forgiveness and perhaps reconciliation. But the Nick she meets isn't the carefree young man she once knew. Violet wasn't as complex a character, but I do like that she wasn't some cookie-cutter young miss in a Regency romance.
The romance was well developed and there were enough twists and turns to keep things interesting. I enjoyed the house party aspect of the story. I felt that the story went a little of kilter once the party ended. Attitudes just changed a little too fast for my tastes. I know we need to get to that happily ever after, but it almost seemed too easy.
But all in all, I really did enjoy the book enough to want more in this world. I'm excited to read more about Nick's best friend, the Duke of Ruin. He was a scene stealer and a great supporting character. Well done, Ms Burke, you have a new fan....more

This is a fast-paced, heavy-hitting read! Full of tragedy, tough situations, and fully fleshed out characters; this kept me turning the pages to see what happened next.
I appreciated Kyra. She went through a lot, but it didn’t’ break her. Seeing her stand strong, remain kind, and succeed made me adore her. While I questioned some of her choices, especially involving Jared, because they were risky, I wanted to see her find happiness so badly, I couldn’t help but want things to work out. Jared was strong and sexy, but he had some control issues brought on by his past. It made for one intense romance between the two.
I was fully immersed in the world she created, and the characters. Her purple prose did throw me off at times. “Magic Stick” acts like cold water in the midst of a sexy scene. I’m also not a fan of cliffhanger endings, so that knocked this down a star for me personally. ...more

I simply fell in love with this new author to me. The way she presented a subject that is still hard for adults to deal with let alone teenagers; it was so tenderly written. I know small life and how hard it is when everyone out there knows you. Georgie and Will made the sweetest couple. Best friends who would do anything for each other. Will’s cousin Beau re-enters their lives which puts things in a tailspin. Georgie is in love with Beau and yet she still pretends for Will to be his girl. It was hard to watch Beau as he stayed true to being that southern gentlemen and watching from the sidelines. I wanted to shake Will and tell him to come out.
I liked how Georgie wanted to and was willing to help Will to any extent but she needed to be happy also. I found Will to be a little insensitive at times. It was all about him but that happens in relationships and Ms. Ellison nailed it.
I enjoyed that this was written in the south it seemed as if things were more gently put. It gave us a gentler way of looking at how hard it is to come out and showed us that it is really simple in the end. Your family is either there for you or not wherever you live. I loved the whole old fashioned vibe to the story. The strong family ties…. The vivid imagery though out the story…it simply felt like home.
The characters right down to the secondary ones where are so well written it was easy to find yourself fitting into their lives and caring about each of them. It was easy for me to feel for them, care about them, love and yes hate them. They became family and as I was finishing the book I didn’t want it to end.
The charm of this writer in taking something that is hard for teens to share with others for fear of the outcome… and making it somewhat easier and even laughable when it is out because what Will and Georgie just went through seemed silly to have done in the first place.
However it was all done because they were best friends and best friends like that will do anything for each other…They will even pretend to be in a fake relationship while jeopardizing their own love. Old and young alike will enjoy this delightful, heartwarming, southern charm story of Family, friendships, romance and coming out. ...more

I did enjoy this story. Like most regencies it revolves around trying to catch the most eligible bachelor of the season. It makes him a better catch if he has a title and money. It is about the dresses, the parties and the scandal. Because yes there always seems to be scandal this adds that something to the story to keep us wanting to find out more.
Ms. Ashford gave us all this and more.
Lord Randolph came to find a wife to help him but as with real life you can’t help who you happen to fall in love with and in this case he falls for Verity who lets it be known that she wants more than country life. She wants adventure.
There was chemistry for these two but it wasn’t strong…it didn’t take long and the sparks began to find these two. There was a lot going on with these two. Verity found some girls to hang out with but to me they were very immature compared to Verity and it made for a little bit of a weird dynamic because Verity when with these girls seemed to become rather immature also. To me it was just off.
I enjoyed all the characters; especially Randolph’s parent’s and brother’s they seemed to round out the story and make it much more enjoyable. (I think his father was my favorite.) His mom seemed to run the show with dad seeming like a simpering dog but he came on strong at the end showing he was a force to be reckoned with.
Over all this wasn’t a bad book but I felt that it tended to drag on a little too much also Ms. Ashford tended to use a few to many words that the average person would either skip over or have to look up. When you have to disrupt a story you may just give up.
Good storyline along with well-rounded characters make this a story to try if you can get past the words and the drawn out story. ...more

It is always nice to have a HEA at Christmas…Ms. Mason packed a lot of good things into this short little story. Her characters are strong, likable and easy to relate to. Her storyline is fast paced and easy to follow. She slips in some characters from some of her other stories making this story feel like you have come back home for a visit.
Charlotte is sent to close the hospital in Christmas…Instead she ends up meeting a sexy doctor by the name of Matt who not only changes her mind but also helps her and the townspeople work on trying to save the hospital.
This little novella has it all…Faith in Christmas, the Christmas spirit, small town magic…I think you get it…Oh! Did I mention a sexy Doctor…?
I really enjoyed all the complexity that Ms. Mason put into this story. I was captivated once again. It was also fun revisiting the eccentric bunch of characters that are in Christmas. Ms. Mason gave us a fresh look at an overused storyline.
I can’t give too much away without spoiling the story for you. So just pick up this little gem. You won’t be disappointed. ...more
Well Wiley didn't disappoint me as I read book three, Love's Glory, in the Wilderness Hearts series.Reviewed by JoAnne Book provided by the author
Well Wiley didn't disappoint me as I read book three, Love's Glory, in the Wilderness Hearts series. We're back in Kentucky with Sam and his family and his brothers and two nephews make an appearance too. But this time it is all Little John's story - but he's not so little now that he's all grown up! His love interest is his cousin, Allison, but they're not cousins through blood since he's the adopted son of Sam and Catherine and she's Catherine's niece. There's an immediate attraction since they are no longer children. We first meet Allison on her plantation in Virginia and I watched with interest as she traveled from there to visit her family in Kentucky.
Wiley reeled me in once again with her wonderful descriptions of the land, the people, the horses, Sam and Catherine's home and nature in general which were so vivid that I felt that I was there. Of course there were the wonderful Wyllie family members that we're reunited with albeit just a short time with Sam's brothers. Missing were all the women and the children but I hope we get to meet up with them again and again since there is still so much story to tell. I liked how the author brings up events that have happened in other books that is like icing on the cake but even if you haven't read any of her previous books it just becomes additional background information. Rory was a nice addition to the story as was Little John's dog, Happy.
As I read there is good versus evil and spirituality with the addition of Baldy, the traveling preacher who also studied medicine, anger, fear, hysteria, mob mentality, death, sadness, injuries, lots of food, family and friends, servants, happiness, laughter and love. I loved that we make a return to Cumberland Falls. The story flows nicely with a depth to the characters whom we get to know a little at a time. There is nice closure with the epilogue that takes place a year later and a few happily ever afters but with enough loose ends that left me wanting more. I enjoyed the Inspirations and Facts Behind the Story which provided relevant information to the story from the author's perspective..
Wiley has fast become one of my favorite authors. I love that she sets her books during the westward expansion of America - one of my favorite periods of United States history. I can't wait to see where she takes us next. ...more

I would like to start by saying this is not generally a book I would have chosen for myself…However once I started to read this story I found it hard to put down.
Last Rights deals with traveling in the year 2224. Fallon is sent by her sister to obtain her nephew’s clone. He is needed to save the originals life. For me usually I get lost when reading something that is unfathomable for me to grasp. But to tell you something I was able to follow this story line and it made sense. I found myself to continue to read just to find out what was going to happen to Fallon and Jamie (the clone).
They ended up in John’s room that was in an induced coma in order to heal. He comes out of it and feels the urge to protect these two as they are running to save their lives.
For me the pages just needed to keep being turned to find out the outcome. I guess you could say it was all about the chase, the suspense which was constant.
The morality issues on cloning and organ harvesting was well researched to where you were able to actually understand both sides. It made it easy to understand the characters views; making them all the more realistic. I was able to put myself in the shoes of the characters making it easy to relate to their plights.
While laughing and crying Ms. Bradley threw in some hot and steamy love scenes. They may not have been very long leaving a lot or maybe not much to the imagination whichever way you want to see it.
So if you want something a little different that keeps you on the edge of your seat and is very entertaining give Last Rights a try. You might find a new author and be pleasantly surprised. I know I was....more
When I saw a chance to review one of Mary Calmes books, I latched onto that opportunity and went with itReviewed by Lori Book provided by the publisher
When I saw a chance to review one of Mary Calmes books, I latched onto that opportunity and went with it. I’ve read her work before and I loved it, and Parting Shot is no exception. This is book 7 in the A Matter of Time series. I didn't have a hard time following this story, so I don't think having to read the other books is necessary, just more books to read and obsess over.
This is a gay M/M romance, just in case that’s not the readers’ choice in romantic fiction.
Aaron and Duncan remind me of Eve and Rourke by JD Robb and Ric and Davin by Jessie Gin. Their relationships are similar; The wealthy billionaire who wants someone who wants them for who they are, not because of their wealth, connections, or any freebies anyone can get from them. They want the man underneath all the wealth and power and his love and devotion. Even though those aspects of these stories are similar, Parting Shot is not a cookie cutter romance. The story moved fast, it was funny, and it entertained me, which to me is very important.
Aaron and Duncan are both not looking for love or a relationship. They were both happy with one night stands as their careers aren’t conducive to being out of the closet. However, when they meet and begin to want to be serious with each other, they are willing to come out and make their relationship known to the people in their lives. I loved that they were willing to do that for themselves as well as each other. It’s important to be who you are and not be ashamed of who you love. It’s hard to do and I understand that. If it’s possible, and you’re willing, I say go for it.
Duncan is sharp, funny, humble, and just too adorable for words. Aaron is funny, arrogant at times, very vulnerable and he’s just too adorable for words too. Together, oh MAN!!! (Pun intended). They tore the pages up with their emotions, passions, words, and feelings. Not to mention when they got together physically, oooh, the reader better get a fan.
I love it when a book can give me the feels, and this one did it. Check this book out and give it a try, I think the reader will like it. ...more

I really don’t know where to start with this story. I liked everything about it. The story, the adventure, the characters, the imagery, the research, the dolphins and sea lions , the hot sex and so much more. I may have found a new author to follow. Even though this book is part of a series (I have to admit I haven’t read the other books) it works as a book that stands alone (but I am going to read the others because I can’t say enough about this book).
Kerry is a marine mammal vet; Leaper is a Navy Seal when they first meet the sparks fly. Chemistry is instantaneous. It was nice to see that things can happen fast in most stories you can tell that the chemistry is there but it takes half the story if not all to get the two characters together.
Each of the main characters in this story have lives that revolve around very important jobs yet Ms. Elizabeth made it to where the jobs interacted and it worked for the story and also for the Kerry and Leaper. Loved the dolphins…
There was never a dull moment in the story the action kept you interested along with all the action within the story. The story kept me entertained…I was never bored and I wanted more when it ended. All the added touches made this book truly magical.

It was nice to return to Montana, the Cahill Ranch and the Cahill family once again especially since it's Reviewed by JoAnne Book provided by NetGalley
It was nice to return to Montana, the Cahill Ranch and the Cahill family once again especially since it's around Christmas. Cowboy's Legacy is Flint and Maggie's story but showcases the sheriff's office, his ex-wife, Flint's family, the town they live in as well as some of Maggie's past. The book drew me in from the first page to the last and it's like I hadn't left the small town of Gilt Edge, Montana. The story also takes place in Wyoming and North Dakota and not a beat was missed. The book had many story lines going on, some dark and some light, but were woven seamlessly together and picked up where Outlaw's Honor, the second book in the series, left off.
While there were mysteries to be solved about crimes committed, especially who abducted Maggie, both Flint, the sheriff, and Harp, one of the deputies, were not supposed to be involved in the police work for different reasons. Throughout the book, Flint's love for Maggie showed through and he did everything he could to find her before it was too late. Harp and Vicki were back with the continuation of their bumbling romance and even Jenna who had disappeared for several months was key to the plot. It was nice to see the Cahill family always there for each other and the support they gave to one another.
The descriptions of the lands, the snow, the cold and the mountains were breathtaking and made me feel that I was there. There were crimes committed, abductions, shootouts, family and friends, along with tears, fear, horror, angst, sadness, disbelief, happiness, laughter and love. The story flowed nicely and the characters had a depth to them that we uncovered a little at a time. There was nice closure and several happily ever afters with the chance for several more. I can't wait to be back at the Cahill Ranch since there are still three brothers that need their stories told. I for one can't wait for more.
I need to read the first book in the series, Renegade's Pride, as well as the 2.5 novella in the Cahill Ranch series, Cowboy's Reckoning. Cowboy's Legacy is only the fourth book I have read by Daniels but I have added a few of her books to my always growing TBR pile. ...more

I have to say, I was quite glad that I had read book one in the series before reading The Inn at Blue Hollow Falls. I don't think I would have been lost, but Stevie was introduced in that first book and it just made getting to read her story more satisfying. It was the same with the setting. Most of the story takes place within the inn and very few of the townsfolk make appearances. So, all that said, it will stand on it's own.
Stevie had a slightly unconventional upbringing and without any family around, she's not really interested in Christmas. She decides to go to Blue Hollow Falls for a working vacation with her bestie Sunny. And then there's Noah. He's the local innkeeper, fulfilling his life's dream. Both are a little gun shy when it comes to relationships, but there are sparks between them... and those sparks lit up the pages.
There honestly wasn't much of a plot other than bringing these two together. And for a short story, that was all that was needed. Ms Kauffman, did a great job of character development as well as really showing the reader the romance between Noah and Stevie. I enjoyed watching them both get over their misgivings and give in to the chance at true love. Ms Kauffman had me laughing and then crying as I eagerly turned the pages.
After reading Blue Hollow Falls, I was eager to return to this series and couldn't wait to get Stevie's story. And I love Christmas novellas, so this book hit all the right notes for me. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Ms Kauffman is one of my go-to authors when I need a solid read. I love stories set at Christmas and Linda Lael Miller's fourth book in The Carsons of Mustang Creek, A Snow Country Christmas, didn't disappoint with the festive atmosphere, gift giving and winter activities. I would have liked the Carson family to be more front and center in this book but it was all Raine and Mick with Raine's daughter, Daisy, too. I didn't feel the chemistry between Raine and Mick although they did and their romance wasn't as intense as in some of her other books. I did like their playfulness and how they got along even coming from two different worlds and having different work interests too.
There were family and friends, the land, the homes, good food, celebrations, the animals, reminisces, laughter, hope, happiness, lots of heat up the sheets loving and love. The book flowed smoothly and I liked that Raine's grandfather's cabin and his books played a major role. I could hear his voice coming through even when Mick was working on finishing the story but he made it look almost too easy. I felt her grandfather's presence in the cabin, with his unfinished manuscript and with her new found romance with Mick. There was nice closure and a happily-ever-after but I'm hoping the series continues since there's more story to tell with the next generation.
Miller is one of my go to authors especially when it comes to western romances. At the back of the book were two chapters from her next book, The Blue and the Gray, set during the Civil War, which is a departure from her usual books. I look forward to reading it since what I read only whet my appetite for more!...more

This is a contemporary romance with a mystery edge to it. This is a series of five books, and the story continues within each book. I suggest that the reader start with the first book and work your way through the series as things will not make sense if the reader skips a book.
This series was written by two authors; Lily Danes and Eve Kincaid. Each book was written by either Ms. Danes or Ms. Kincaid, they weren’t coauthored. Books that are coauthored can be a wonderful read that is so seamless that the reader doesn’t know who wrote what, it’s a cohesive story. Or, the book can be a hot mess, and it feels like the reader is reading two different stories within the same book. I really dislike that.
This was a fast entertaining read and I really loved this book. The writing was sharp and kept me immersed in the story. I loved the main protagonists Gabe and Maddie, but I also loved the secondary characters as well. I liked that they were introduced to the reader and then they are seen again within their own books. They were Maddies’ best friends, but they knew when to get involved in her life and when to butt out. There is nothing that turns me off more than best friends that don’t know when to stay out of something that is none of their business. I get so irritated whether it’s within a book or in reality.
Gabe and Maddie, oh how I love thee, let me count the ways. They are both such strong independent characters, I loved how they grew to need each other to depend on, even though they hated it. Gabe and Maddie both had a lot of stuff happen to them and they learned and grew from each of their experiences, and it made them better people in spite of their hardships.

Alert: Sex, Lust and Steamy… Ms. Conkle gave us some characters that you might not expect to be in the Georgian period.
Genevieve for one…when it came to sex she knew what she wanted when it came to sexual pleasure and was open about it as she wasn’t afraid to let her partner know. You think Georgian period and you think prim and proper. It was refreshing to know that it was possible for women to know that they want during any period in history.
Genevieve and Marcus both needed fresh starts that second chance…Marcus was born into money and was very scandalous. He needed to settle down, to actually be the adult that he is. Genevieve needed to reinvent herself to get rid of her questionable past.
Ms. Conkle’s characters were nice…you could tell that she did a lot of research. She paid a great deal of time on details. I however felt it was a little long. If you enjoy the historical part of the story then you will enjoy this story. I am not one for this much history. The plot though was interesting as it was different like I said previously to find someone so open about what they enjoyed sexually during this time.
I found that the characters had that chemistry and Ms. Conkle brought Genevieve into the story as an equal despite coming from a lower class and even though at times Marcus may not have liked her being so outspoken deep down I think he liked it.
Heart and Dagger was not at all what I expected especially since the book takes place in the late 170Reviewed by JoAnne Book provided by the author
Heart and Dagger was not at all what I expected especially since the book takes place in the late 1700's and early 1800's both in London and at sea. It has childhood friends who drift apart when they are young and their lives are not what they anticipated while growing up. Although Armand and Charlotte grew up in London society together with their siblings, Henri and Eliza respectively, she runs away to sea to prevent an arranged marriage from taking place and he becomes a magistrate on a small island so as not to follow in his father's footsteps. How might their lives have been changed if Armand and his family didn't sail back to India so his dying mom could say goodbye to her family and if Armand continued to keep in touch with Charlotte? How different might their siblings lives have turned out as well?
As captain of her own ship, Charlotte now feared as Catalina Sol, has a reputation but not all of it is true. She does kind acts for those less fortunate but that isn't something others know about her. When she and Armand cross paths again it's because he needs to hire Catalina to rescue his kidnapped brother from a band of pirates. Imagine his shock when he finds out who Catalina really is. As they get reacquainted it's not all good but they do still have chemistry and it was fun to watch as they got to know each other again and didn't know where each of them stood with the other. The characters are complex and we get to know them a little at a time. There are family and friends, London society, pirates, weapons, the less fortunate, tears, anger, fear, hurt, sadness, injuries, loving and love. There are vivid descriptions throughout of the land, the sea, the ship, the businesses, the homes and the friendships. The story flowed smoothly and gave some closure with the epilogue. There were enough loose ends to bring us to the next book in the series which I look forward to reading.
Rae is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more of her books. This book was reminiscent to me of the Malory series by Johanna Lindsey and also the Heiresses in Love series by Marie Lavender. ...more

When tragedy strikes neither knows that tragedies have befallen each of them and thus the it brings an end to their friendship and connection. She becomes a damaged recluse and he becomes a playboy who will bed anyone but half the time doesn't even know their names. When their meddling grandparents get involved in the present day under the guise of charity, look out! This is a second chance at romance book and what a second chance it is!
As we get to know Margot and Bentley a little at a time, there's a sadness and defeatist attitude and each has to break down the walls of the other. When they reconnect, against each of their wills, there's still a charge between them but will it flame into more? She lives in her house in the dark and he's known for all his sexual and drunken shenanigans. Life just isn't fair sometimes but can they help each other even if it's what neither of them wants or do they?
There were lots of family and money, romance books, flowers, whispers, gawking, hurtful comments, hurt, tears, anger, sadness, fear, injuries, lack of communication, secrets, untruths, laughter, happiness, pets, romance and ultimately love. There are a lot of burn up the sheet moments and teasing. As Bentley does his best to get Margot to live again he's fighting his own demons. Their playfulness was heartwarming but they weren't always on the same page at the same time. Their feelings hit highs and lows throughout but didn't always match the others. Their inability to talk about themselves, their lives, the missing years and not be sarcastic was often heart-wrenching. There was nice closure with enough loose ends for Bentley's twin's story. There was a happily ever after in the offing that left me wanting more.

Christmas and historical romance. How could you go wrong? When I saw this title available for review, I knew it was right up my alley and jumped at the chance to read it. And I'm glad I did. This is the first of Anna Bradley's books I've read, but I'm going to have to rectify that. This is the third book is a series, but I didn't feel lost. In fact, I'm not entirely sure how this book fits into a series... but on to my review of this book.
Ethan is one of those heroes that was really hard to like in the beginning. He has demons from his past that are plaguing him, but they're slowly revealed. So, his early behavior didn't win me over and I was really wondering what I was getting into. As his past was revealed, I began to understand and cheer him along. Considering this was a short story, I found there to be good character development and growth,
Then we have Thea. She's a strong willed woman. She and Ethan were childhood friends and she's surprised to have him come home. And she's determined to "fix" him. Thea was definitely easier to like since her backstory wasn't shrouded in mystery and she was more of an open book. I won't say that Thea's character wasn't as developed, but she definitely didn't have the same growth as Ethan.
The romance between the two relied heavily on their history. There wasn't really any wooing or that "dance" around each other than typically happens in a romance. In this, I was a little let down. I felt that they both kinda had this epiphany that they've always loved the other and *bam*, they're in love. I'm not sure if this was due to the fact it's a short story and a focus on character development.
All that said, I did enjoy the story. If you're a fan of historical romances set at Christmas time, you may want to check this one out....more

This was a fun, interesting, and unique story there kept me turning the pages. Poppy was a different kind of heroine. Independent, self sufficient, and bold, she stood out from the women of her time. I liked her from the very first introduction, and admired her even more as her story unfolded. Leo is her childhood best friend back from seeking his fortune abroad. I liked him, he has pluck, manners, and issues I found relatable and believable. It made for the best kind of Duke.
They both have situations that need taking care of, and he has the perfect solution to there troubles, a fake engagement. We all know things never go to plan when emotions get involved.
This wasn't your average Regency read, and it checked all the boxes: humor, adventure, romance, and uniqueness.
Please be aware that this is a reissue of a story originally published in the The Dukes of Vauxhall anthology....more

Ms. Locke has written a Christmas Romance that is filled with characters that tug at your heart. A perfect read for the holidays to bring a little magic and hope into your life.
Alice and Hugh are perfect for each other. To me it was another beauty and the beast type of story. Alice is a very strong woman; just as strong as any man. Hugh thinks she is a mistress to the king when in fact she is a spy; just as he is a spy… Alice has a very kind, gentle and loving demeanor. Whereas Hugh is rough, surly, and unwilling to trust. He has had a hard time since he was a child…issues.
I liked their love/hate relationship from the beginning as it made the story more realistic. Also put a strong focus on the interaction between the characters making them more likable with real flaws that one can relate to. Ms. Locke brought us danger, love, hate, emotions and real issues. With the story and characters being well written I could feel the energy/chemistry between Alice and Hugh.
I enjoyed the strong woman (Alice) that stands her ground… This is a story that will make you think. It will also have you realizing that there is more to people; everyone hides things which just may make them angry or surly towards others.
I would recommend this read not only for the season but anytime. I loved it. ...more
This is the story of a young girl named Emma. She was a very beautiful girl who fell upon a bit of misfortReviewed by Robin Book provided by the author
This is the story of a young girl named Emma. She was a very beautiful girl who fell upon a bit of misfortune. Yet she found the strength within herself to overcome the many obstacles that she encountered and found the will and the hope to persevere. Through everything she went through she also found love.
Emma was raised in a family full of love. She had twin siblings that were only four when her parents where struck with cholera and died leaving Emma with little money in which to survive and raise her young siblings. When the money ran out she was forced to go work in the work house (which in most cases was almost like living or being in prison). She did find friends one in particular who helped her fit and help take care of her siblings.
Emma was sent to work in the textile mill under the rule of a lecherous man. Ms. Snow didn’t candy coat what happened to women and children. They were exploited, abused, humiliated. Life was one big nightmare. But in order to survive you do what you have to. You stay strong and hope…
I had heard of work houses and the condition from history. But Ms. Snow took it one step further and placed me, the reader, inside of Emma head. I felt all the emotions that she felt. Ms. Snow took us on a journey to the darker side of life during the Georgian/Victorian Era.
This book had a lot going on. It was very well written and held my attention maybe a little too well as a tissue was close at hand when my emotions got the best of me. I wouldn’t recommend this story for anyone that was too young or not strong enough to handle all the emotional parts within the story.
I was angry at the men that took advantage of the women and children…the way they were treated. I had a hard time with the children.
But it was really nice that after all that had happened Emma was given an HEA. She found that strength deep down and was able to RISE UP!...more
This is the second book that I have read by Ms. Bliss. I simply love this author she is inspirational not oReviewed by Robin Book provided by NetGalley
This is the second book that I have read by Ms. Bliss. I simply love this author she is inspirational not only in her personal life but through her stories. She shows us that size doesn’t matter. Love finds you no matter what size you are.
From the beginning of Valerie’s story I learned a hard lesson. One I have struggled with, that we have to be happy with our own self. I loved that Valerie loved who she was. I loved her sassy spirit. She showed us that curvy is beautiful. This is an author every teen girl should read.
Val and Logan…know each other because Logan is Val’s brother’s best friend. He has moved back to town to help his mother out. They have a bar and need help. Bartending…and this is where Val comes in.
Just let me say that Logan soon falls for Val. His feelings are real-- he loves her for her, curves and all. Logan along with her brother is a little overprotective of Val because of her size. I get it, they don’t want her to get hurt but they don’t realize that this beats her confidence level. But this shreds her confidence.
The whole story shows that by embracing who we are anything can happen.
Once again I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the fact that Ms. Bliss didn’t dwell on the fact that Valerie was a plus size. Instead she showed how to embrace who we are. We are shown how to become proud of us as women imperfections and all. Grab onto life and enjoy it. We are beautiful curves and all. If we only show our confidence we can accomplish anything.
I loved that Ms. Bliss writes about normal women. She writes about women that tend to be easy to relate to. Even when it becomes hard to stay positive don’t become negative. Valerie is a strong woman for the most part. Showing her strength shown through and good things happened.
I realize I didn’t write much about Logan but he was there and he fell in love with Valerie. It was a sweet slow romance which I did enjoy. But to me I was drawn to the story about Valerie.
I do feel as I mentioned this is a must read author that writes from the heart. I found this book to be inspirational and something every young girl (an older ones also) will find something that they can relate to in their life. The cover was beautiful showed someone with curves a real woman. As this book is part of a series it doesn’t have to be read in order or together. This book stands alone although I think you will enjoy Ms. Bliss’ other books as well. ...more
I think when I read anthologies I seem to always find one that makes me fall in love. I am not saying that Reviewed by Robin Book provided by NetGalley
I think when I read anthologies I seem to always find one that makes me fall in love. I am not saying that the others aren’t good it is just that one stands out for me all the time. Always one to enjoy those Hot Scotsman; while all where unique and I wanted all of them to come to life, I found that the last story had to be my favorite if I had to choose…With each of these being short and well written I don’t want to send spoilers your way. But I know that you will enjoy them as much as I did. Although you will just have to decide on your own which is your favorite.
A Highlanders Hope by Terri Brisbin Iain and Robena show that when loves hits you, it makes no difference who it is that you fall for… because love is simply love. No bounds; no conditions. Robena is the village whore. She took over after her mom died. When in the area Iain comes to her. Christmas is in a few days and fate has stepped in bringing these two together. Not only have they fallen in love but have also been given the gift of a child is left at Robena’s door.
I found not only a sexy Highlander but also plenty of romance, suspense and sadness along with happiness. Regrets always…but the characters got past the regrets…You do what you have to when you need to survive. The characters were easy to believe in and easy to feel what they were going through.
Ms. Brisbin wrote a really well rounded story that although it was short provided a very HEA.
A Highland Christmas Wager by Lecia Cornwall Boys will be boys but in this case those boys are men. Do they ever grow up? A snowstorm brings Meggie and her grandmother in need of a place to wait out the storm. Of course, the place they stop at belongs to someone from her past. He makes a wager with his two friends about getting a kiss from Meggie. He considers her easy. He stole her virginity in the hayloft years ago but married someone else.
Ms. Cornwall gives us characters that are both easy to love and hate. Everyone has a story good or bad. The past tends to finds its way out at the most inopportune times. While in this case a certain man shares the past with others as he brags of his conquest. All in all Meggie ends up falling for Hugh. He loves her; he is willing to give up the wager.
I liked Ms. Cornwall’s story. It wasn’t a favorite but it was cute.
A Scot for Christmas by Bronwen Evans Emma it seems has been in love with her brother’s best friend Dougray forever. She has decided to settle on being a spinster as most men in London are short and at 5’11” she towers over them. She has decided she wants to spend one night of passion with the hottest man she knows…Dougray. This way she can go into spinsterhood knowing what it is to feel passion. Things backfired and love intervened. Emma got her night of hot sex and passion and so much more. Spinsterhood was not in her future.
Ms. Evans gave us a story filled with characters that were very easy to like. I enjoyed this story although short it was easy to want to keep reading to find out what would happen despite the trickery.
Leftover Mistletoe by Lavinia Kent Chemistry…things tended to happen a little fast but the way Ms. Kent wrote this story it worked. Robbie took off with all of the horses, men, and just everything to keep James from stopping Robbie's wedding to James's sister. Robbie directed him to a nearby cabin where provisions were left. Meanwhile Emma who had been sharing a coach had lost her maid. She's a little high-strung not used to doing things on her own. When James and Emma arrive at cabin…cold, hungry you get the picture. Things tend to go fast…virginity lost…Christmas greens along with a lot of steamy sex with a hot Highlander. Fate gave Emma someone to love.
And Ms. Kent gave us characters that worked making me want to learn maybe a little bit more about them.
Sweet Home Highland Christmas by May McGoldrick Last but not least is Ms. McGoldrick’s story. While I thoroughly enjoyed Gregory and Freya’s story I have to say that there would still have been a story but I found that Ella, a very precocious five years old, stole the story. Freya is Ella’s aunt; they were on their way to meet a cousin that Freya would marry so that Ella would be able to stay with Freya. Gregory is their guide to get them through the Highlands safely.
I found this to be a very entertaining story and all the antics that were within this story made it very special. I found that I wanted more…for me it was much to short even if all the elements woven within this story were finished and completed; I wouldn’t mind if this were a full length book. It was a magical Christmas story filled with lovable characters that tugged on my heartstrings....more
I've been in a western romance kick lately. When I saw that Cathy McDavid was looking for review crew memberReviewed by Jen Book provided by NetGalley
I've been in a western romance kick lately. When I saw that Cathy McDavid was looking for review crew members, I decided that it was a good fit considering my reading habits of late. I got this book about 6 months ago, read it and then totally forgot to review it. I failed in my review crew assignment, but now I'm catching up. After a quick re-read of the book, I'm finally ready to put my thoughts online.
If you've ever read my reviews in the past, you'll know that I'm not a huge fan of the surprise pregnancy / baby story line. As it says in the blurb, "will she think he wants to marry her only because of the baby?" It's a really hard hurdle to jump and make it believable. So, I went into reading this book with some wariness... is Ms McDavid going to be able to pull it off.
As the blurb tells the reader, Aaron and Melody have been having a no-strings affair. Melody comes from a local family and is the town's veterinarian. Aaron recently moved to town with his daughter and his late wife's mother. The two have been seeing each other on the sly, but they're both starting to have feelings that the other isn't aware of. Throw in a surprise pregnancy as well as family issues on both sides and it's obvious they're going to have a bumpy ride to their happily ever after.
I liked Aaron and Melody, but I certainly didn't like a lot of their choices. Neither of them wanted to confess feelings and both of them were letting family issues and the past get in the way. While I can't relate to losing a spouse and what it takes to get past it, I didn't particularly like how Aaron's mother-in-law manipulated him and he pretty much let her. I suppose that probably happens, but here it just made me feel that the "hero" of the story wasn't that alpha male I tend to expect in a romance. That said, I liked Aaron, just questioned some of his choices.
When it came to Melody, I felt that she was a bit of a jerk to a new family member. But I totally understand wanting to keep this person and Aaron at arm's length, wanting to protect herself from disappointment and heart ache. But just as I said earlier, it was a real reaction... and pretty much if she's done anything else, I would have been whining that this wasn't realistic.
Throw in a horse thief mystery as a secondary plot line and I found myself turning the pages wanting to see how everything was going to resolve. If you enjoy westerns and especially if you like the surprise baby trope, this may be the book for you. ...more

I was sitting in my comfy chair reading and I couldn’t figure out why the characters in the story sounded so familiar. Here I was not realizing I had read the first two books in the series somehow missed the third and found this one. I canna just pick one and say that it is a favorite because although these books can and do stand-alone they also fit snugly together making them something to read and enjoy.
Hamish and Elizabeth were meant to be together right from the start. Ms. York once again gave us characters that were easy to like. Ms. York gave us family instead of characters in a story. This story gives us four sisters being introduced to London society thanks to their newfound cousin who happens to have grown up without family. Since he's found his cousins, he is only too happy to finance their debut. When it comes time to start the season he doesn’t want to leave his wife as she is close to delivering. So he sends two other Scottish men to watch over the girls.
As this is really about the romance between Hamish (one of the Highlanders sent and really HOT) and Elizabeth. Believe me when I say they had a chemistry that flew off the pages but Hamish tried hard to hold back but, he finally…Oops I almost spoiled it for you. This story is also about the other sisters. By the end of the book all the girls found someone just right for them and none were from London society. Well I take that back one was. Three got…no can’t tell it might spoil it again for you. I guess I can say that you may just have to read this story for yourself.
I have to say that there is a lot that goes on in within this story yet I found it easy to follow and with each twist and turn I fell in love with the characters that made not only their debut in London but in my heart as well. I laughed out loud, I fell in love. The love scenes were hot, yet not overdone. They were sensuous…
You might want to also pick up the other three in this series and settle in for a magical read. You will love the romance, the adventures, the Highlanders and perhaps even the Londoners. Along with all the twists and turns…Well let’s just say if you haven’t read Ms. York’s books before you may find a new favorite author.
Can't Walk Away immersed me in the sounds of Nashville and left me wanting more. Savannah goes from wReviewed by JoAnne Book provided by NetGalley
Can't Walk Away immersed me in the sounds of Nashville and left me wanting more. Savannah goes from waitress to successful country singer and some of the fame and problems that go along with it attach to her. Brad, a former songwriter called The Hitman, doesn't recognize her when she plays at an Indie night where he's the manager and owner of the restaurant/bar with two of his friends and where Savannah waitresses. When they "meet" sparks fly but lack of communicating doesn't have them on the same page at all. There is definite chemistry but will Savannah who's a single mom be able to tame playboy Brad and does he want to be?
Brad seems to measure all women against his deceased ex-wife and it's not all good. He has a reputation as a womanizer that dogs him and hasn't written a song in several years but is hoping that things turn around when he finds himself attracted to Savannah. Watching their one step forward and two step back approach was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Her daughter Caroline was a whirlwind and had me getting tired just reading about her abundance of energy. It was interesting that she played such a large part in the story. Brad's friends help ground him and I can't wait to read more about both Ethan and Russ. There are family and friends, exes, secrets, hurt, anger, tears, fear, happiness, laughter, amazement, parties, agents, lawyers, lots of loving, romance and love. Savannah's parents are a great support to her and she and her best friend, Jos, have a nice relationship. Savannah's ex leaves a lot to be desired.
The characters are multifaceted and I had to dig a little to really know them. The story is fast paced and flows nicely but sometimes jumped ahead that I needed to look back to make sure my Nook hadn't skipped a page. There is good closure and the epilogue was a nice touch. I look forward to reading the next two books in the trilogy and hope I don't have to wait too long.

I've been a faithful fan of the Elemental Assassin series since book one. And now we're at book thirteen. HReviewed by Jen Book provided by NetGalley
I've been a faithful fan of the Elemental Assassin series since book one. And now we're at book thirteen. Has the series been perfect? No. There's been a lot of repetition. And let's be honest. Thirteen books in, it is to be expected. Bad guys start to blend together. Fight scenes aren't as fresh as they were in the beginning. But when I'm in the mood for something action packed with a paranormal twist, this series is where I go.
Gin Blanco, the Elemental Assassin Spider, is now the reluctant queen of the Ashland underworld. This time around Gin's enemy is a metal elemental. One of my favorite parts of this series is how Ms Estep plays around with the different elements. For example, Gin has ice and stone elemental magic. She can harden her skin with the stone magic or she can create ice picks with her ice magic. Over the years, Gin has fought against fire, acid, ice and so on. Metal magic was first introduced with Gin's significant other, Owen, who wields the magic and uses it in his weapon making. However, our new villain has much stronger magic. Here's a short excerpt that illustrates how powerful her new foe is:
"Did he just..." My voice just trailed off.
"Use his metal magic to reshape that spoon into a dagger?" Owen finished my thought. "Yeah. That's exactly what he did."
"Cool, " Finn chimed in.
Owen and I both turned around in our chairs and gave him a look.
"What?" Finn protested. "It is cool in a completely sneaky, underhanded, deadly sort of way. I admire such things."
Gin has to rethink the way she's going to challenge a magic elemental. She can't go running in with her daggers and hack and slash her way through a fight. It was a refreshing change and made for some interesting battle scenes.
Once again, the flashbacks that Gin experiences tie the current situation with something that happened years prior when her mentor was still alive and shaping her into an assassin. And all the supporting cast are accounted for and helping Gin along the way.
This book is meant to be read as part of a series and not a stand alone. Ms Estep does not really spend the time re-introducing characters or settings. I feel she is assuming you've been following the series and don't need the recap. So, if you've not read other books in the series, you might feel you're missing important information. But that said, this was a much needed change in the series and I can't wait to see what comes next....more
This book was easy to follow; but it would be more enjoyable if the reader was more familiar with the otReviewed by Lori Book provided by the publisher
This book was easy to follow; but it would be more enjoyable if the reader was more familiar with the other stories as well as the other characters. It would be easier to follow along with the secondary characters and how they fit into the story and the main characters lives. This is a gay BDSM book, just in case the reader doesn’t know, and isn’t into this type of genre.
Neal was a strong and very tender Dom. He has lots of experience as a Dom and has a lot to offer the right man. He was more into Way needing him to guide him through his difficulties in his life. He wanted him to depend on him so that Neal could support him, emotionally. He eventually wanted to move their relationship into a d/s dynamic, but trust needs to be earned and given freely. Without that, it isn’t going to work, and Neal and Way both want it to work.
Way was young emotionally as well as chronologically. He was used to doing things for himself and not depending upon others so depending on Neal and asking for support was a very difficult thing for him to do. He’s very new to the lifestyle and needs to be trained on protocol so that he doesn’t embarrass himself or Neal.
Their courtship into a relationship seemed to happen already as they are at the beginning stages of their relationship. This book was about their journey into trusting each other, depending upon each other, and respecting each other not only as a Dom and Sub, but also as each other’s lovers.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I like reading about a sub learning the ropes of the lifestyle and their Dom teaching proper protocol and manners within the lifestyle. I also liked how their relationship grew throughout the book. Neal and Way learned how to depend and communicate with each other. I love that.
Give this author a try, his work is very good....more
