I first discovered this book through the many literary awards that it has won. Intrigued by its amazing cover, I immediately downloaded it and began reading. I was taken by surprise when I discovered that the language in the book is as beautiful as the cover. The author does not only have great talent in storytelling but also creates sentences and uses words in such a sophisticated way that the book can easily be enjoyed by adults as well. This story about a handicapped boy with magical powers is both magical and sad. The writing is so beautifully structured that I would consider it a piece of art in literary fiction rather than a simple novel for entertainment. Anybody who loves the English language will be fascinated by “The Improbable Wonders of Moojie Littleman.”...more

The second part takes you into the chimneys. Holly finds a locket and travels with it through the chimneys. This book is even better than the first one. I found it to be more consistant and better developed. Every page is exciting to read and it takes you into a different world. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store for me. These are wonderful twists on ancient Greek stories. Besides beautiful illustrations the author takes you back to the myths of ancient Greece. Kids learn some facts about the Greek empire and at the same time have fun with the two kids Taki and Toula. "Aphrodite finds her inner beauty" was my favorite among them. ...more

As a writer myself, I enjoy when authors are creative and build new worlds rather than stick with what is right in front of their nose. Jo-Marie not only builds a believable world but creates characters, like Ari, who are loveable and realistic. Despite the magical setting the plot is also about friendship and confidence which is something everybody encounters in a real world. Well done! I am looking forward to the second part of the saga!...more

When I started reading it I realized that the story is as good, if not even better than the graphics. It is about the girl Dotty who ends up in a giant house all alone in the countryside in Britain. Strange things start happening there, until she discovers that the chimneys of the house have some secrets to reveal. The story is well-written and fast-paced. I loved it and couldn't put it down. The ending is exciting and leaves room for the next book in the series. It is magical, the characters are realistic and believable and it is perfect for middle grade. I can't wait to read the next volume, and I would recommend it to everyone. ...more
