It is Reading this on kindle left me wanting it in hard copy form. It's the kind of book I would keep on my shelf for future reference in my studies. It is a bite-sized Bible study with more depth than many other much longer studies in the same genre. I love the scholarship of Lois Tverberg and feel as I read her books that I can trust the veracity of her writing. This short study just confirms that for me. If you find yourself wanting to get into the Bible more but struggle in understanding some of its meaning, this author will help you gain a greater understanding as you read. If you're ready to dive deep into the Word, this will provide your springboard. Highly recommend!...more

I believe this Bible is a great tool to overcome those obstacles. This is a Bible for children of all ages. Not a storybook type of Bible but a great study Bible for children with the tools and features that will instill in your child a great wonder and love of the Word of God. I can't wait to give my review copy to my grandson!...more

This Marigold Leather-touch edition feels like butter. So smooth and soft to the touch. And of course...yellow! How can you go wrong with my favorite color?! Yellow is a happy color, so if you want to infuse a little more joy into your Bible reading each day this is the Bible for you.
I would not consider this to be a 'study bible' as there is no cross-reference system within the pages. I love to compare scripture with scripture as I study. But it does have great introductions to each book with both big picture overview, summary, key verses, and timeline to place you fully in the context of the situation and time each book is written. And it is great for note-taking and journaling as you read with its wide columns on each page.
I think the biggest drawback is the fact that it is a bit heavy for me to take along to church or on trips. However, It will be great for my morning Bible reading and journaling. So I do recommend this beauty to you.

When I have the opportunity to read and review a children's book I like to run it by my grandson, Judah. He's 9 years old and loves to read the books for younger children, the read-aloud books, and give me his review. I love his insight! Here is review of The Stories of God (and Kiki): Very nicely done. Very creative art. This book teaches people how they are like God, but they're not God. I think it would be a great bedtime story for toddlers. I can't wait 'till it comes out! He rated it 4.9 stars...so I'll give it a 5. ...more

For some, or perhaps most, it has had a very traumatic effect on the heart and soul and we have been left feeling bone weary. How do we pick up and continue on...where do we get our strength to be refreshed with renewed heart and vigor? I think that we have cultivated a culture that lacks resilience...I'm 65 years young, but I hurt for a younger generation that seems to not know how to have the resources to bounce back from any trauma that occurs in their life. And it is affecting us all...we all, young and old, need to know how to recover our joy after turbulent times. I believe John Eldredge points us to the only resource that can provide that relief...the supernatural provision of the Holy Spirit given through Jesus. But these are not just words pointed at us, but a direction to take, as he gives us clear steps to regain peace and clarity in heart and mind. I will be keeping this one on my shelf to read again and again. ...more

It's one of those books that grip the head and the heart. Joanna Weaver's book, Embracing Trust is a beautiful illustration of an almost lifelong journey taken to fully realize the, "already and not yet," truth of the Kingdom life we are called to live.
Joanna shows us that in seeking first the Kingdom of God we have to learn how to let go of our own kingdom, and grasp hold of the love and goodness of our forever faithful God.
I love all of Joanna Weaver's books, but this one is now my favorite. It will be one I will keep on my shelf to refer to again and again.
If you wonder what it looks like to fully trust God, to be fully loved by a good and gracious God, let this book be the light that illuminates your path...back to God and His Word....more
