In Pretty Little Mistake by Micalea Smeltzer, Lennon and Beckham, two individuals with a shared past, reunite after years apart. Working together at a magazine, they find that the chemistry between them is still strong. However, a single impulsive night leads to an unexpected pregnancy, forcing them to confront their traumas and consider a second chance at love.
I had such a blast reading this book! The banter between the characters was on point and had me hooked the whole time. Beckham, the brooding bad boy, had a major chip on his shoulder. He tried to scare her off with his rude attitude, but she wasn't having any of it. Gotta admit, I'm usually not into office romances, but this one didn't bother me at all. There wasn't any unnecessary drama, and the characters grew so much throughout the story.
It took a while for Lennon and Beckham to finally admit their feelings, but when they did, it felt so natural and real. The author really took their time to build up their relationship, and I appreciated that. And let's talk about the surprise pregnancy twist! Seeing Beckham all protective and stepping up was absolutely heart-melting.
All in all, this book had it all—funny banter, character growth, and a romance that hit all the right spots. I was totally invested in Lennon and Beckham's journey, and I couldn't put the book down. Highly recommended for those who love a good dose of sass and swoon!...more

A Ship of Bones and Teeth is an amazing book that captivates readers with its dark and fairytale-like atmosphere. Karina skillfully weaves a tale that combines elements of romance, action, suspense, horror, and fantasy, creating a unique and original retelling of The Little Mermaid. From the very beginning, the prologue sets the mood, drawing readers into a world that is both enchanting and chilling.
“You’re a fever in my soul, for which there is no cure.”
The character development in the story is exceptional, particularly that of the heroine, Maren. She starts as a meek and scared princess but undergoes a remarkable transformation into a fierce, empowered, and ruthless syren. Her journey is captivating, and readers will find themselves rooting for her every step of the way.
“I make no false claims when it comes to you, luv, you belong to me body and soul, heart and spirit.”
The relationship between Maren and Ramsay, the male lead, is a highlight of the book. Their banter is fun and enjoyable, and their chemistry is palpable. It is refreshing to see their bond develop before delving into the physical aspects of their relationship. The author wisely avoids overpowering the plot with excessive sex scenes, allowing the characters and their personal growth to take center stage. Their love developed organically and I enjoyed seeing them together.
"I've never had an addiction before," he says hoarsely. "But I think you'll be mine."
The story is unpredictable until the very end, keeping readers on their toes. Karina's attention to detail is evident, creating a rich and immersive world that enhances the overall experience. The love, loyalty, and sacrifices between Maren and Ramsay are beautifully portrayed. The absence of unnecessary drama and the logical thinking of the protagonist contribute to a well-paced and satisfying plot.
“Stay with me,” he whispers. “Don’t go back to the deep. Stay with me at the surface. With the sun and the moon and the stars."
A Ship of Bones and Teeth is an exceptional book that takes readers on a thrilling and enchanting journey. Karina's storytelling skills shine through, delivering a complete and well-crafted tale. The character development, intricate plot, and unexpected twists make it a standout read. This book is a must-read for fans of dark fairytales, romance, and fantasy. It is one of my favorite books of the year and I hope Karina will decide to write more books in this world....more

Kings of Carrion is the conclusion to the Juniper Unraveling series. First of all, I am so happy that the author decided to include Wren and Six' POVs (main characters from book#1 Juniper Unraveling). So we have Cali and Valdys' POV and Wren and Six' as well. Everything came together in this book. It wasn't easy to read because I already knew my heart would get destroyed. This book is about survival and sacrifice. This book was dark and brutal, and it hit me even harder because of the bond I created with certain characters. I knew to expect the unexpected and Keri Lake definitely delivered. I loved the twists and turns in the story, and the growth in the characters.
"In a world of monsters, love makes us human."
I think this book was the perfect ending to this series. Would I want more books set in this world? YES! I love the world Keri has created. It is very intricate and super intriguing. I hate saying goodbye to the characters but I don't want them to go through even more. This was such an emotional roller coaster, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. It was so suspenseful and heartbreaking, but also very beautiful and uplifting. Kings of Carrion is one of my favorite books of the year, and I look forward to seeing what the author has in store next. If you love dark, twisted and brutal post-apocalyptic/dystopian romance, then look no further because this series is in my opinion one of the best.

Calico Descending is the sequel to one of my favorite reads of 2017: Juniper Unraveling. That stand-alone didn’t feel completely finished so I’m happy that Keri decided to dive into this dark dystopian/post-apocalyptic world again. Keri doesn't hold back and really does a phenomenal job in creating another dark and gritty story. I love that it is unpredictable and really anything can happen at any time. Like the previous book this one had me in tears a couple of times. The author really takes risks and I think they paid off. This book focuses on a different set of characters, mainly Calithea, and the story is told from her POV. I loved the flashbacks that were included because it gave us her background information, and showed her character development. She already has gone through a lot and life is continuing to give her a very difficult time. When she is given to the Alpha Valdys, she doesn't know what to expect. However, over time she understands that like her he doesn't have a choice in the things that have been done to him or the things that he has to do to stay alive. She feels a connection to him and this grows stronger over time. Eventually they know that they need to escape the facility if they want to stay alive. However, it is easier said than done.
"No matter the cost, I won't let them hurt Valdys. I can't He's the flame that burns inside of me, the single spark that ignites my soul."
This is a very strong and great sequel to Juniper Unraveling and I loved being back in the world Keri Lake has created. It sometimes is very difficult to read some scenes, but it also add to the atmosphere of a dystopian world. I was wishing for more scenes between Calithea and Valdys, however there is a sequel to their story, so I am hoping that we will get more of that in the next book. I also loved the two other Alphas Titus and Cadmus, I am especially intrigued by Cadmus who is a bit of an anti-hero with a lot of trauma. I really enjoyed learning more about the world and what is going on at the research facility. I am expecting even more action in the next book, and I am ready for it. I really look forward to what will happen in the next book, and how the characters will grow even more. This book like the previous one is very though-out and creativity of the author is amazing. The dystopian/post-apocalyptic dark romance genre is one of my favorites and unfortunately there aren't many books in this particular subgenre.

"Not My Kind of Hero" is a charming contemporary romance novel that follows the story of a single mother, Maisey, and her journey to reconnect with her teenage daughter Juniper while unexpectedly finding love. Both Maisey and Flint are compelling characters who have been through difficult experiences and are doing their best to navigate their lives. The novel offers a refreshing perspective on the challenges of single motherhood, Maisey's unwavering dedication to her daughter is truly heartwarming. Flint, a math teacher, is very supportive of his students, which adds depth to his character.
The author brings these two characters together in a believable way, and their interactions are fun and enjoyable. The book is set in a small town, which adds a cozy feel to the story. The lack of unnecessary drama is also a plus, as it allows the reader to focus on the relationships and personal growth of the characters. Overall, "Not My Kind of Hero" is a delightful read that offers a great mix of romance, family, and community. It is perfect for anyone looking for a heartwarming and lighthearted story....more

"You or Someone Like You" is a delightful contemporary romance that provides a refreshing break from emotionally intense reads. Although I usually gravitate towards angsty romances, this straightforward love story captivated me from start to finish. I found myself so invested in the story that I finished the book in just two days.
The characters of Sloane and Roman are well-crafted and relatable. As adults, they make decisions that are realistic and understandable. I enjoyed how the author took the time to develop their relationship gradually, allowing them to get to know each other before diving into a romantic involvement. Roman is a wonderful single dad, and his love for his late wife and his daughters shines through in his character. Sloane is a supportive and understanding partner who complements Roman perfectly.
Surprisingly, the third-act breakup didn't bother me, and the resolution felt authentic and satisfying. Overall, "You or Someone Like You" is a light and fun contemporary romance that readers will breeze through in no time. I highly recommend this book to fellow romance lovers.....more

Jewel E. Ann is an author known for her original plots and unique characters, so, I was really looking forward to seeing which direction she would take with this book. I found myself engrossed in the story until the very end. Although I had high hopes for an emotional second-chance romance, I was a bit disappointed in that aspect.
One of the reasons I struggled to fully connect with the characters was because their love didn't feel entirely genuine. While the author was able to keep me interested in their story, I didn't feel as invested in their relationship as I would have liked. Additionally, I wished the second half of the book had been longer to fully explore the characters' growth as a couple.
Furthermore, some of the scenes and circumstances in the book felt a bit over the top and didn't quite fit in with the overall story. However, despite these shortcomings, I still enjoyed this book....more

Cruel Beginnings is an intense and gripping novel that delves deep into the dark and dangerous world of the main character, Birdie lives in. After finding herself in a terrible predicament, Birdie makes a deal with the devil, and from that moment on, her life spirals out of control. The authors have not held back in creating a very dark and brutal story, which reminded me why Dark Romance is my favorite genre.
The relationship between Darius and Birdie is complex. While I enjoyed the dynamic between Darius and Birdie, I felt that their relationship developed a bit too rapidly. However, given the challenging circumstances that Birdie found herself in, I can comprehend why this might have occurred. The sex scenes are dark and brutal, perfectly fitting the tone of the book. The authors have created a vivid and immersive world that is full of danger. I am particularly intrigued by a few other characters, and I am eagerly anticipating their role in the upcoming books. The writing is sharp and evocative, painting a clear picture of the gritty and violent world in which these characters live.
Overall, Cruel Beginnings is a fantastic start to the Cruel World series that will appeal to fans of dark and gritty romance. The writing is strong, and the plot will keep you engaged from beginning to end. If you're looking for a thrilling and intense read, this is definitely a book worth checking out....more

Dangerous Innocence is the first book in Cora Reilly's brand-new Five-Leaf Clover series, diving into the world of the Irish mob. I was really excited to read this mafia romance and couldn't wait to meet the new characters. The story started off strong, and I was hooked to see how it would unfold. Aislinn caught the eye of mobster Lorcan, and before she knew it, they were married. Lorcan was swoon worthy, and I couldn't get enough of him.
Aislinn was a strong and loyal character, and I admired her determination to find out what happened to her sister at the start. But as the story went on, it started to get a bit frustrating. I ended up liking Lorcan more than Aislinn. In the first half of the book, I would have given it four stars without hesitation. However, a particular trope emerged and decision was made in the second half that failed to align with Aislinn's personality which made me lower my rating to three stars.
Furthermore, the plot's development failed to generate the excitement I had anticipated. Regrettably, the story lacked significant occurrences and failed to deliver the thrilling momentum I had hoped for. Although I harbor reservations about the upcoming main character in the next book, I'm still planning on reading it, as I am curious to see how the series progresses....more

Entice was a straight-forward, a bit taboo, contemporary romance. The main character is River, who has a crush on her father's friend Grayson, who is 15 years older than her. She first met him when she was 12, but then her father and Grayson had a falling out, so it has been years since she last saw him. When River hears that her father is meeting Grayson after all these years, she can't resist and tags along. Grayson feels a strong attraction towards her, however, he doesn't remember her at first. After the realization that River is his old friend's daughter, he does whatever is in his power to keep her at a distance. River wants him now more than ever, but will keep her dignity when dealing with him. Grayson tries to stay away but the more he gets the know her the stronger his feelings get for her.
This book was a nice contemporary romance without too much drama. River has her insecurities and so does Grayson, but I think they were a good match. Even though River is only 20, I think she acted pretty mature most of the time. She could keep up with Grayson, and loosened him up, which he definitely needed. He came across as broody, cold, and too serious. I enjoyed reading about Grayson's relationship with his siblings, and I am intrigued to know more about his younger brother Jaxson. I was happy that the book wasn't just straight up sex, and that the author took the time for the characters to grow as individuals and as a couple.

A Cruel Arrangement by Tijan delivers a captivating continuation to the Kings of New York series, albeit with a shift of focus to Molly and Ashton's story. While I was surprised that the book didn't follow Jess and Trace's story as expected, I found myself thoroughly enjoying Molly and Ashton's explosive and banter-filled relationship. As a protagonist, Molly is a strong and independent character who doesn't let Ashton intimidate her. Meanwhile, Ashton's protective nature towards his loved ones and his charisma had me intrigued from the start.
It was great to catch up with the characters from the previous book, and see how they've developed. Jess's reaction to Ashton's past actions had me on edge, while the growing friendship between Trace and Ashton, and Milly and Jess was a joy to see. The balance between romance and suspense was well-executed, and the book's lighter moments provided a welcome break from the tension. Overall, A Cruel Arrangement is an excellent addition to the series, and I can't wait to see more from these characters....more

Book 1: Heartache and Hope - 5 stars
"Love is not a noun. Love is something you do. Something you prove. Something you work hard to create. Love is not something that simply exists because you say it. Love is not a noun. Love is a verb."
Heartache and Hope is the type of mature Young Adult book that I absolutely can't resist reading. This was such a perfect book from start to finish. I haven't read a romance book that takes place in high school for a while, but now I remember again what I loved so much about this genre. Jay McLean is an amazing author. Her characters always feel so real and nothing seems fabricated or fake. Every emotion, behavior, and action makes sense for better or worse. Ava and Connor are such beautiful characters and they were perfect for each other.
"There'd be no happy ending to our story. There'd be an intense beginning, a shaky middle, and then heartache. And we've both been through enough heartache to last a lifetime."
However, will their love survive with all the hardships they both are facing? They both have other priorities and it broke my heart to see both of them struggle to make their relationship work. Connor is supportive and an amazing guy. He isn't perfect, and that is what I loved most about him.

Book 2: First and Forever - 5 stars
The Heartache Duet is absolutely phenomenal. From the characters to the amazing writing, it is just so perfect. First and Forever takes up where we left off in Heartache and Hope, I was really happy that there was no time jump into the future because I wanted their story to continue in present time. My heart broke so much for Ava and Connor, they are both broken and trying to make the best out of their situation.
Their love was tested immensely in this book, and it really had me on the edge of my seat at times. Connor is one of the most amazing main male characters I have ever read, he was just such a good guy. Nice guys don't always finish last. Ava had so much burden on her shoulders, and I just can't imagine the amount of stress she was under. Also when Connor is confronted with his past, it created some tension between Ava and him.
"When the world is at its darkest, that's when the magic appears."
One of my favorite things in this duet was the relationship between Connor and Ava's mom. It was so beautiful, and heartbreaking at times. But they really had a special bond with each other. Connor brought hope and magic into their lives. It really made me emotional at times and I couldn't contain my tears. Ava's brother Trevor was great and had made so many sacrifices.
This whole duet was just perfect in my opinion. There isn't a thing I would change. I was getting sadder when I was getting to the end, because it was getting time to say goodbye to the characters I connected so well with. Their love was raw and real, and it wasn't perfect but it was perfect for them. I love Jay for writing their story, and I wish that this duet was a trilogy because I didn't want it to end. This duet is one of my favorites this year and I highly recommend everyone to read it....more

She's come up with another original story, and executed it with perfection in Before Us. This book tells a beautiful and heartwarming story about sacrifice and wanting the best for your loved ones. From the start, I fell in love with Zach, the beautiful hero of the story. Suzanne, the inspirational character, had such an amazing outlook on life, and Emersyn, the dreamer, was down on her luck but never gave up on her aspirations. The way these three characters bonded was very unique and beautiful.
I was skeptical about how the author would handle the situation described in the synopsis, but I should have trusted Jewel E. Ann to create the most heartwarming story possible. The friendship that Emersyn developed with Suzanne was bittersweet and had me feeling emotional at times. Zach was a straight-forward guy, but I enjoyed seeing him grow throughout the book. The same goes for Emersyn. She did the most growing, and I loved going on this journey with her.

I absolutely love Linda Broday's books. I don't even need to read the synopsis to decide if I am going to read it. I fully trust her to deliver a great story with amazing characters. Winning Maura's Heart is the first book in her Hangman's daughters series and it follows the story of the sisters Maura and Emma who are outcasts because their father is a hangman. In the beginning of the book the sisters are forced to leave and take with them a group of orphans. They decide to make their home at an abandoned mission nearby, but find that it isn't as abandoned as they thought. The nuns living there agrees to turn the mission into an orphanage and the sisters and nuns start working together to take care of the children. One day when Maura is hunting she finds Calhoun, who is wounded, and takes him back to the mission and nurses him back to health. It doesn't take long before Maura and Calhoun start catching feelings for each other. However, both are keeping secrets from the other.
Winning Maura's Heart was a very heartwarming and beautiful historical western romance. The characters were all amazing and added extra layers to the story. The nuns were so helpful and sweet, Maura and Emma did everything in their power to take care of the unwanted orphans. They all worked together to give those children the best. Calhoun and the sister's uncle Max, who is also living at the mission, were great protectors and role models for the children. Everything just came together perfectly. The added action scenes were great but not overpowering. The romance was sweet and I enjoyed seeing Maura and Calhoun grow closer together. I am assuming Emma's story is next. I can't wait to see what will happen and who will steal her heart. If you are looking for a uplifting historical romance then I highly recommend this book and also check out Linda Broday's other books!...more

This book has been sitting on my Finish Later shelf for three years now. I forgot all about it but when I was scrolling through my books and saw this book, I decided to finish reading it. I am happy I did because it was such a fun read. Dorothy is awesome and I just loved seeing her interact with Eli and his son Roman. This book was light and fun, but it also had its emotional moments.
The book wasn't predictable which I appreciated a lot. The flow was great and there was nothing boring about this book. I was invested in the characters and finding out how the story would develop. I was sad to see it end, and searched online for a bonus epilogue or something but I don't think there is one. Jewel is such an amazing author, who writes the most awesome characters and original plots. I definitely need to read more of her books.

Maria Vale's The Legend of All Wolves series is undoubtedly one of the most refreshing and distinctive series about shifters out there. So, when I heard about her new book, Molly Molloy and the Angel of Death, I was ecstatic. But let me tell you, it is not your run-of-the-mill paranormal love story. This book is so much more than that. It delves deep into the meaning of life itself and leaves the reader with profound thoughts to ponder.
Kudos to Vale for taking a new direction in her writing. Death, the main character, is a fascinating and unique character that completely broke the mold. Unlike the typical broody and alluring grim reaper character in paranormal romances, Death in this book is truly one of a kind.
Admittedly, at the beginning of the book, I struggled with the complex English vocabulary, which was above my level. It took some time for me to fully grasp what was happening and relate to the characters. They weren't particularly likable at first, but as the story progressed, I found myself rooting for Molly and Death.
