Sadly, it wasn't till I already started it that that I figured out that it wasn't the first book in the series. I hate when that happens but I was already in so I kept going.
So glad I did. I really enjoyed this story. It starts off pretty humorously with a poor mom not sure what to do when her son turns into a lion. Right away you fall in love with Griffin. You so badly want everything to be okay with him and worry that it won't be. I found myself holding my breath more than once.
I also really like Hayley. She's such a great mom who will face anything for her son. You'll love how she worries about her son and wants to learn whatever she needs to so that she can keep him safe. | For the most part this is quick reading story. I was sure it was less pages when I read it only to figure out that I was so into it that time passed. After reading the story I will for sure be reading more in the series. You'll love all the rest of the characters and want their stories.
My favorite part is right round the end of the story. I loved to share why but I can't give it away. I will admit that I wish I started the series in the beginning. Not that this story felt lacking but because I really want the other stories, so I'll have to go back.
[image] If you follow me then you know that I'm not a huge fan of second, chances romances. Well, unless they are kids and break up then. They haven't [image] If you follow me then you know that I'm not a huge fan of second, chances romances. Well, unless they are kids and break up then. They haven't yet had a chance to grow and enjoy anything in life. So getting back together is okay with me. But breaking up because of a misunderstanding I hate. Of course, I love books by Jennifer Ryan, so I was willing to read it.
I'm so glad I did. Do I feel like they broke up because of a stupid reason? Yes! A hundred times yes. These two cares so much about each other that they really aren't moving on. Oh, they play at life without really living. It' what makes their who situation so sad.
I have to tell you that I really liked Max. His family has been a favorite of mine since the beginning of the series. They all went through some crap and came out the other side. I've enjoyed reading about them and seeing how their lives have changed. Because Max's story was last all the family members (including their father) has grown. The only person who was still locked away since the beginning of the series is Max. It's time for his demons to go and him to be happy.
I also really enjoyed Kenna and didn't really blame her for her reaction to what happened. What I did blame her for was not talking about it with Max when she realized what was going on. Of course, if she did there would be no book, so I guess things worked out for the best. Plus, they were able to grow a bit and experience life.
When Kenna needed him, Max was there for her even when he didn't want to be. It's not that he wanted anything to happen to her it was only that being so close to her was killing him. Max and Kenna both are the sweetest people who really do care about each other.
There are moments in this book that I wanted to scream at them to get their acts together. And then other times when I found myself tearing up. That's what I love about reading books by Jennifer Ryan, she always makes me feel something.
If you haven't yet read this series, then you are missing out. Start it in the beginning and enjoy. In fact, start it from the series right before it so you can see how this one all starts. Both series is perfect for a summer read.
[image] I have to start off with saying that hands down this has been my favorite story of the series. I just loved it. Both characters made my heart h[image] I have to start off with saying that hands down this has been my favorite story of the series. I just loved it. Both characters made my heart happy. So much was packed into this story and by the end I felt like I went on an emotional cleanse.
Admittedly these two or at least Quaid feel for each other quickly. I often don't like that in anything other than paranormal romances. But for some reason it really worked with these two. You right away felt their connection. He loved her uppity ways. For Quaid it was a turn on. She liked having someone to talk to that was her equal.
As you read the story you will see that wherever they faulter the other one shores them up. I think it's one of the best things about this story. I'm not saying that they are perfect because they are far from it. Quaid babies his family and then gets pissed that they can't stand on their own. He also either doesn't listen to them or really talk to them and share his feelings so instead he buries it all inside himself and wonders why he can't find happiness.
Jayna is no better at times. Now she shares a lot more of what's going on in her life with Quaid but she also doesn't want to see the happiness that's right in front of her. Don't get me wrong I don't blame her for wanting to get as far away from her mother as she can. But here's the thing, if they talked it might have been better for them both. I love her relationship with the sister. The was she works on making sure her sister has a better life touched me. She wasn't about to let their mother keep her sister in a state of need.
At times you want to sit both of them down and yell at them, but you also know where all of this is coming from. But, when you have someone who is as supportive as Jayna is, you don't take a chance at losing that. Not only will you enjoy them the other characters from the series help to add some good humor into the story. I really enjoy this town.
[image] This is the last book in the Nugget series that I need to review. It took my a long time to review them but it wasn't the fault of the series. [image] This is the last book in the Nugget series that I need to review. It took my a long time to review them but it wasn't the fault of the series. I unfortunately read these the winter after my mother passed and pushed so many books aside instead of reviewing them. I'm doing my best to get caught up.
I can't tell you how much I loved this series. One of the characters I couldn't wait to read about was Raylene. You meet her in a prior book and realize she's not much of a likable character. She does some really crappy things to a man she knows loves her. You really won't like her before.
Then you start to learn what he life growing up is all about. Yes, she was an adult when she made some bad choices. She should have stood up to her father but sometimes when you are mentally and emotionally beat down for so long you do things you aren't really proud of. You don't always think about the fact that you are an adult and don't have to listen to the abusive part.
Now, I'm not making excuses for what she did, but I do believe some of it was influenced by her life. As I mentioned she wasn't a favorite character of mine until her book. The author did a great job of showing us how much work Raylene was willing to do to make herself a better person. And believe me going back to the town that she pulled so much crap in that knows all her father did had to be embarrassing and hard.
I truly liked her in this book.
Lucky for Raylene she found the perfect guy. He knew her past but could see that real person that wasn't allowed to be. At times Gabe isn't sure what to believe. Had Raylene really changed or is she acting. Quickly he starts to learn that she really is a good person.
I really like these two together. They bring out the best in each other. Not only that they really care for each other, and Raylene really deserves some to love and be loved by. Raylene risks her life to help someone and that helps prove to everyone that there is more to her than meets the eye. I really enjoyed this story but will mention that this series is best read in order. It's well worth the read.

I see a reread in my futur[image] This was a wonderful read for many reasons. One being the fact that I got to visit with one of my favorite families. I see a reread in my future. If you haven't yet read the Nauti series I would go back and read them. Yes you don't need to read them to read this one but you are really missing out.
I've been looking forward to this one for a long time. Or at least it seems like a long time. I miss with Lora Leigh isn't writing. I really enjoy her stories and find them to be well written and sexy as hell. Her heroes are strong alpha men would do anything to protect those that they love. Her heroines are just as kick ass and strong. They don't sit on the sideline and wait to be taken care of.
In Isabeau's Eyes is the first in a new series buy her but is in the same world as her Nauti books. You'll love both Isabeau and Tracker. These two go through a ton of crap before they come out on the other side.
Isabeau is friends with the Mackay's and has been since she was a young kid. Sadly, her life hasn't been an easy one since the death of her parents and her almost dying when shot in the head. Because of all she has gone through she really hasn't lived her life. She has a bunch of crap that has happened as she's grown and a older brother who has done his best to keep her protected. Being blind only adds up to the long list of things she has had to work through.
Tracker is probably one of scariest heroes I've read. Most of that is due to the fact that he doesn't really care about himself anymore. He just does his job (one he does well) and moves on to the next. He doesn't really live. I'm very sad for him. He does love his sister and would do anything for her. That's includes protecting a woman who almost got his sister killed.
In Isabeau's Eyes is an action-packed story that keeps moving from page one. Not only will you enjoy the whole mystery of what happened to Isabeau's parents you'll also be part of Tracker and Isabeau falling in love.
I really enjoyed this story and felt it was well worth the wait. I think though I enjoyed it so much because I know who all the players are or most of them. I think if you go into this book without that knowledge then it might not be as good of a story for you as it was for me. I would think it would go one of two ways. You'll feel totally lost like you are missing something or you'll rush to read the Nauti Boys and Nauti Girls series. Either way you are in for a treat.
[image] I've really been wondering what was up with these two. It really seemed that Moira had something against Gil that only she knew about. Which it[image] I've really been wondering what was up with these two. It really seemed that Moira had something against Gil that only she knew about. Which it turns out to be true. No one new why she was upset with him other than herself. Even Gil was in the dark.
So why? I'll let you find that out by reading the story. I will say that I can understand a bit about why she felt the way she did, but she really needed to share her story to really be whole.
I really loved Gil. He is the sweetest, most caring person who really loves his job working to help improve the town Somerset Lake. He's also the best brother. I love the relationship between himself and his brother.
I also enjoyed Moira. At times she really made me wonder why she does the thing does but after a while I kind of understood. I was so happy that she finally listened to her mother and really heard her. Sometimes we have trouble getting out of our own ways.
As a pair they really work. Moira needs someone who is thoughtful and caring and knows when to step back and give her a second to figure out what needs to be done. For their romance I didn't find the hot passion of other couples but the dance they did was no less romantic.
Moira and Gil fit in a way that makes you wonder why they waited so long. Of course, you quickly find out why. You'll love how they thought they were hiding their relationship from the town yet almost the whole town knew how they felt.
As a whole this story worked for them. My only wish is that you felt more heat between them. Their friendship and love for each other shines through but you don't get any really sexy deep feelings from them. With saying that you will still really enjoy their story and the time you get to visit with the people of Somerset Lake.
[image] I've been really enjoying this series. We have one more brother to go and I will share with you that I can't wait. I think there is more to him[image] I've been really enjoying this series. We have one more brother to go and I will share with you that I can't wait. I think there is more to him then we all thought. I can't wait. But until then let's talk about A Summer Changes Everything.
I really thought that this would have been the last of the brother's stories because of how hurt he is with the loss of his wife. He has shut off himself from his family and children. All he does is work and sleep. Saying that I'm glad that we got his story now. You know that whoever shocks Reese's heart out of the deep freeze is going to be a great person.
The story line of this story isn't a new one but one that explains the reason of these two being in so close proximity. As much as I missed his parents and grandparents in this story them not being in it works best for the story.
Shelby is just the sweetest thing. Right away you like her, and I think in part that is because the boys warm up to her right away. She treats them well and showers them with her time and that makes them happy. I love seeing them happy. It's fun how she is with them. They like her and she really likes them too.
Reese is not an easy guy to like. Yes, you feel bad for him for what he's gone through, but you don't really get to know him in the prior books. He's so closed off that there is a kind of disconnect between him and everyone else. With him it was like a butterfly coming out of his cocoon. He slowly figured out that it was okay to live.
It might have not been an unemotional road, but it was one worth the feelings. The story turned out to be the best so far. I think we just all wanted to see Reese happy again. Now him and his boys can move forward knowing that their mom/wife is happy that they will be happy.

It wasn't that I didn't like the series because I did it was just that with so many books to read they sort of fell by the wayside. I'm back to reading this series and I'm glad I am.
I really enjoyed Immortal Unchained and Domitian and Sarita. Their story was a very enjoyable one to read. I loved how strong Sarita is and how she handles everything going on in her world right now. She is learning the hard way about immortals and handles it pretty well.
These two do a great job of working together to get out of a very bad situation. At times you wonder if they will make it through and worry about them. That's what I love about this author, she has a way of making you lose yourself and land in her books. You go from just reading a book to living a different life.
You'll also really like the humor that's within the story. I laughed more than once. It's another thing I can always count on with this author.
If you are looking for a well-written story with characters you want to make family then you'll really enjoy this story.
[image] We've all been waiting for Elizabeth's story. If you've read the prior books you will have to wonder what kind of person Elizabeth really is. N[image] We've all been waiting for Elizabeth's story. If you've read the prior books you will have to wonder what kind of person Elizabeth really is. Not that the other books gave too much away but they gave you enough that you wanted, no needed, to know more. The funny part is that as I read the story my opinion changed with almost every chapter. It's why I love reading so much.
You start off thinking Elizabeth is younger than what she is. Or at least I did. I kind of thought she was closer to twenty then thirty. I do admit at first, I was a bit shocked. It might have been mentioned in her sister's books, but I missed it. I think why I thought she was younger is because of how she acted and felt.
I learned a lot about her in this book. Some I liked other times she made me want to sit her down and have a talk with her. But one of the things that I like the most about her was just how good of a person she is. There is more to her then what you think you know. Layers always makes me happy.
I also liked Graham too. He's the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. He works hard and at times is very misunderstood by those around him. But never by Elizabeth. She saw him for what and who he was all put for that one thing. She never really realized how much he loved her. I didn't blame her for that. When you love having someone in your life you don't want to take a chance on anything happening that would ruin that. I would mentioned that these two planned no matter what to be best friends I'm not sure how that would have worked out for them if they found other people to love.
For the most part I really enjoyed this story. I did wonder why everyone held one bad deed against her. At times I wanted to yell at them. But other than that, I liked how they both decided to work on themselves. You can quickly see that these two are meant for each other and just work. I really enjoyed being part of their story.
[image] I really enjoy reading books by Allyson Charles. She writes small-town romances well. I really enjoy her characters. She puts a lot of humor, l[image] I really enjoy reading books by Allyson Charles. She writes small-town romances well. I really enjoy her characters. She puts a lot of humor, love, and sexiness into her books and you will want to read them all.
You'll really like Sarah. She shows you that no matter how smart you are you can have a blind spot. For Sarah, it's her finances. She has big trouble keeping her money. She is too nice for her own good even when it ends up harming her. She wants to make both of her fathers happy and to be real she only owes one of them anything. One was there for her the other not so much.
James is a likable guy even though he's a bit uptight. Sarah needs to financially help others drives James crazy. He knows she wants to start a non-profit but also knows that the way things are going she's not going to be able to do it.
These two are fun to read about and I enjoyed the way they fell in love. It takes them a bit to figure out what is important to each other but they finally do.
[image] As you might have remembered this year I've been trying to find some new authors to read. I've been enjoying it so far. I saw this one on Faceb[image] As you might have remembered this year I've been trying to find some new authors to read. I've been enjoying it so far. I saw this one on Facebook and it looked good so I downloaded it and I'm glad I did. was intrigued by the plot and the idea of humans sacrificing themselves to dragons, not for food but to have their babies. I mean, how could I not try it? As plots go this is a new one for me.
I really loved Melanie Hall (dragons always use your full name) She is both sweet and tough at the same time. What she was willing to do for her brother is so nice. I'm not sure I could have done this. You need to read the story to understand why I say this. Having a dragon baby isn't as easy as you'd think.
I also liked Tristan even with how much he hates humans. As the story goes on you really understand what he and his sister have gone through with the loss of their mother. At times he's so overbearing and impossible then he says something that makes you remember his past.
The best part of this story is the way that Melanie Hall heals his anger toward humans or at least some humans. She always does her best to help his sister too. She's just that type of person. As a whole, the story is a good one that I really enjoyed and was glad that I took the time to read. I will be reading more in this series because I really enjoyed it. So for me, this new author is a plus.
[image] As always I really love Cynthia Eden's books. They speak to me in a very comfortable read type of way. I always enjoy her heroes. They are alwa[image] As always I really love Cynthia Eden's books. They speak to me in a very comfortable read type of way. I always enjoy her heroes. They are always so hot and alpha. Not to worry her women are pretty kickass so they can handle them.
You meet Tony in a prior book. You don't really get to know much about her but you do get enough of a glimpse that you want more. I wasn't sure what I thought of her before but her book really cleared up some of my feelings about her. I kinda felt she was a tiny bit standoffish and you get a better idea of why that is. She's close with those she cares about but not really anybody else.
You learn that secrets play a big part in this story. I'd love to share them with you but it would give too much of the plot away. I will just say that each one really does add to the story and make you feel a better understanding of each of the characters.
I really enjoyed Aiden and felt so bad for him with the loss of her twin brother. It bothered him so much that he lost him which as brothers it should. I could only imagine how it would be. When he shares his feeling about the loss of his brother you really see what he has gone through and can't help by feeling for him.
As I've said secrets play a big part in the story and you'll enjoy trying to figure them all out. They really help move the story on and add to the layers. I really wish I could talk more about them but they do give things away and I want you to experience it all for yourself. I really enjoyed this one and wonder if we'll get a book with Aiden's friend Smith and I loved the quick moment with Memphis & Saint. I really enjoy them. You don't have to read this series in order but you know me I just feel you get a better understanding of the series if you do. Not to worry, it's well worth it.

The idea of texting your d [image] I have to say this one is one of those books where your keeps breaking. I loved the way the author set this one up. The idea of texting your dead wife's phone because you miss her so much is just heartwarming. You feel for him and know he needs to move on with his life but also loves a guy who can love so deeply that he can't yet move on.
You're on the ride with Gunner as he tries to get his life back together. He isn't trying for happy-ever-after he just wants to go along with the pack and feel a little bit.
Poor Sadie is stuck with a sister that really isn't giving her a break no matter how hard she tries to be there for her. I don't blame the kid she is sad and confused about her new life and living some someone she really doesn't know.
In a way, all that's going on in both their lives helps with their futures. I really enjoyed reading about how Gunner learned how to live again. He will always miss those who are gone but knows he can now move on and be happy again. Something his family would have wanted for him. It was also nice seeing how Sadie and her sister were able to come together and be a family. What a wonderful story this turns out to be.
[image] This a new author that I found last year and I was so happy that I did. I really enjoyed Held by the Hawk. Both Seraphina and Ramon are wonderf[image] This a new author that I found last year and I was so happy that I did. I really enjoyed Held by the Hawk. Both Seraphina and Ramon are wonderful people. Plus you get to visit with the rest of the team.
Who doesn't love a good family feud? I know I do. The problems between the two groups go deep. Way deeper than this or the past generations. Some things are hard to let go of. But let go they must because Roman and Seraphina are mates.
Roman's family has a much easier time with this. Seraphina's family comes around and you think all will work out for these two when her brother does something stupid.
It might not be an easy road for these two but they love each other and work together to be happy. I really think you'll enjoy how these two come together. Because of the short page count the books move faster than a mass-market book but with it being paranormal that's okay. It works here. I felt I got to know all the characters and didn't feel cheated at all. It really made me look forward to the next book in the series.
[image] If you've been following my reviews then you know how much I really enjoy books by Celia Kyle. May she be writing alone or with others. The Rea[image] If you've been following my reviews then you know how much I really enjoy books by Celia Kyle. May she be writing alone or with others. The Real Men Shift series is one that I've enjoyed.
Like the previous books I really enjoyed Real Men Claim. You are happy that Trina is able to find the one person she's supposed to be with after her heartbreak. Before Max came into her life she was sad and alone in a world of so many.
Max has a past that would make anyone sad. He has lost his pack and will do anything to make those responsible be punished. What with all he's been through I don't think finding his fated mate was something he thought was in the cards for him.
You won't be able to not feel for these two people. Both have sad pasts but the future can be so much better only if everything can be worked out. Trina worries that her pack won't be able to accept Max and Max can't seem to get out of his pain to help himself.
Such a great story. One that pulls you in and keeps you there. By the end of the story, you can't wait for the next one. Like with many shifter stories, they fall hard and fast for each other and become a unit almost from the beginning. With any other type of book this wouldn't have worked and you couldn't trust their feelings but with shifters, it's kind of a given. Plus with the shorter page count, the authors have to make everything happen faster but still give you a good story. I think it happened here.
[image] I used to love her books but got behind on so many. I'm started to get caught up and started with her Jackson: Girls Night Out series. Fanning [image] I used to love her books but got behind on so many. I'm started to get caught up and started with her Jackson: Girls Night Out series. Fanning the Flame is a novella so it's a quick read. Since they already know each other it works in this story. For me, you either have to know each other or be a paranormal to work with such a short page count.
This is a sweet romance about two people that felt the romance part of their lives is over. Each for their own reason. Jake because his one love passed and Lauren because she really isn't looking for a long-time partnership. So a quick bout of fun should work for these two, right? Life is never that easy.
Jake finally figures out that it's okay to move on and in doing so falls in love with Lauren. It takes him a bit to admit it to himself and after a push from his daughter, he finally told Lauren of his feelings. Boy that didn't go well. We can't be ready for the same thing at the same time.
Lauren's marriage wasn't the best and now that her son is away at college she is free to enjoy life. Sadly she's not really great at getting out there and doing that. Once she does she falls for a man that can really steal her heart and because of that, she pushes him away. Past mistakes and feelings are hard to forget.
It might take them a bit to figure out what they want from each other and how they will work their lives out but finally, they do, and it's perfect. This is an enjoyable introduction to this series and it will leave you wanting more.

When I was cleaning out my books I decid[image] This is a series that I read when it first came out 21 years ago and I remember how much I enjoyed it. When I was cleaning out my books I decided to reread this series and I'm glad I did. Right away I remembered why I loved Catch of the Day. I was also a bit shocked that it held up so well after all this time. Sometimes you read a book from twenty years ago and think about how dated it is but really it wasn't. If I hadn't known how old I might not have picked up on it right away. Sure, there are a few clues as you read the story but as a whole, it holds up.
You'll love both Gwen and Daniel. They both deserve love and happiness. Daniel's past has made him slightly closed off towards women. Sure, he has a right to be upset but not give up on romance totally. His grumpiness is kind of sexy and you can see his good heart right away. He loves his family and it shows in the book.
Gwen is a fun character that makes me wish I could cook like her. I spent most of the book hungry. She spends some time feeding Daniel and his grandfather. They get to taste-test her food. See, hungry. I love her relationship with her sisters and parents. She moves away but is still very close to them. I also love how fun it is that all the single men in town trying to woo her. They come out of the woodwork what with there not being too many single ladies in town they have to work fast to romance the ones that are.
As I've mentioned this story holds up pretty well and is still very enjoyable to read. I liked it enough that I read the next two books in the series. Both are Gwen's sisters. If you are looking for sweet, well-written small-town romances this is one you'll enjoy.
[image] I've been having some trouble getting into paranormal romances. But since I already agreed to read this one, I had no choice. Let me tell you t[image] I've been having some trouble getting into paranormal romances. But since I already agreed to read this one, I had no choice. Let me tell you that I'm so glad about the lack of choice. I ended up loving The Phantom. It's so good and well-written. I just couldn't put it down. I know it's only been a few weeks into the new year but for me, this one going to be hard to beat.
You've met and understand what's going on between Roux and Blythe in the prior books so this one starts off with no surprise. What is surprising is how they work out their issues. When I say issues I mean issues. These two didn't meet under good circumstances. In fact, Blythe hates Roux.
For part of the book, Blythe actively tries to kill Roux. For the other part, they need to work together to stay alive. I really enjoyed how they worked together while trying not to fall in love with each other. Falling in love with Roux causes Blythe a ton of confusion and upset. She has trouble fighting her feelings and doesn't understand why she's having them.
This is one of those stories in that the storyline really enhances the romance of the hero and heroine. Both things go hand and hand to make this a wonderful story.
I love and felt so bad for Roux and all he's gone through. He keeps himself so tightly held together and you find out why as you read the story and then want to kill someone. It's a great way for us to see how much of a good person Blythe can be. She kills when she has to but would never think of hurting a child.
You will also feel sad about some of the things that Blythe learns about her past. It breaks my heart for her but also adds to the story in a way that works perfectly. I'd so love to share more but you really need to read it for yourself.
You can read The Phantom on its own but you might want to start the series in the beginning. All three of the books are wonderful. The Phantom is so good that I couldn't put it down. I laughed, I cried and even yelled at the book. As I said, perfect!
[image] I really enjoyed Heartbreaker. Mason is just the best guy. How many brothers would take in your huge dog? One that's not really trained. I hav [image] I really enjoyed Heartbreaker. Mason is just the best guy. How many brothers would take in your huge dog? One that's not really trained. I have to admit as a dog lover I didn't care for Mason's sister. All dogs should be trained. As I said I loved that he took in the dog and care about him even when he was a pain in the butt.
Mason might be a shark when it comes to business but he really has a good heart. I understood his feelings about his job and his partners. He was going tired of being thought of as just a player when he's so much more.
I also enjoyed Tess. But not as much and not always. I felt at times, a lot of times she spent way too much time in her head. She was so busy trying to stand on her own that she wasn't sharing life with anyone. Not even her best friend. She thought so little of herself that she ended up wanting no one to help her and see her only as someone who stood on her own, or alone which was more like it.
Because of her issues, she was very unfair to Mason and he put way more work into their relationship than she did. As much as I liked her and understood why she acted the way she did I wanted better for him.
Even with the issues I had with Tess, I liked them together when she worked on them. They just work. The flow between them is easy and relaxed. When she also gives of herself the book is better. I'm not saying that her issues aren't or shouldn't be part of the book they just seemed to sometimes take over the romance. I did enjoy the story enough that I am looking forward to reading the next book.

I was looking for a small-town romance and that series called to me. I'm so glad that I read it. It leads perfectly into this series and adds to the small town and the people in it.
You met Emma in the prior series and only get to know a bit about her series. In Wildflower Season you truly learn what kind of person she really is. What I liked about Emma is that even though she came from a very wealthy family she isn't afraid of hard work. She's willing to get her hands dirty just like anyone else. It takes poor Carmeron a bit to figure that out.
For Cameron, it's easier to believe she's just some rich woman who has so much time on her hand that she starts up a new project. Quickly he learns her true strength of Emma and sees her in a different light.
I get that both these people have had it bad in the past with marriage and love. Emma's marriage was not the best and poor Cameron lost his wife. But sometimes your other half walks into your life and you have no choice but to hold onto them.
Wildflower Season is a wonderful romance that starts out with two very unhappy people. One trying to start the next step in their lives and the other trying to hide from life. But sometimes things don't always go as planned or smoothly. What I liked about this story is watching them both help each other out. Emma showed Cameron that he could love again and feel good about it and he helped her to see how strong she is and to help her find her dreams.
This story can be read without reading the prior series but I will say that for me it read better because I knew and read the prior series. Just more life to the town and the people who live there. Plus a lot of the town's backstory is told in the prior series. Either way, I know you'll enjoy Wildflower Season.

Tempting Fate i[image] I've been so bad at reviewing this series. The fun part is that I really loved it. What can I say I'm a lazy reviewer at times.
Tempting Fate is the 4th book in the series and I just loved it. Both the main characters are ones you'll enjoy and want to learn more about. You've met Chaska in the prior books and have been wanting his story. He's the type of guy that the ladies flock to.
What I really liked about him is that he's a very caring person who tries his best to help people. He wants his forever and can't seem to find it.
Poor Naomi hasn't had the best life. You can't help but feel for her. Her first meeting with Chaska and his sister isn't what you'd call a party. She runs into some people who aren't what you'd call good and gets very hurt. Thankfully she gets recused by Chaska and his sister.
What I loved about his romance is that they both taught each other something about themselves. Chaska helped Naomi learn that it's okay to be a strong sexual woman. That it's not bad. And she taught him to love and give his heart to her.
They are both perfect for each other and right away you'll feel the pull that draws them to each other. You want, no, need them to find love and their HEA. They have a few ups and downs and life isn't always smooth, but in the end, they figured out what was the most important part of happiness.

Because of that,[image] Sands is one of the very few historical romance authors that I read any more. I have trouble finding ones that I really enjoy. Because of that, I'm always happy when I know it's time to read one of hers. In Her Highlander's Bed is another cousin of the Buchanans. Love those brothers.
Up this time we have Allissaid. A fun name to say. What happens to her is horrible and you can't help but worry about what's to come. Luckily she runs into a man that's willing to help her. Plus she has that very connected family at her back.
It's sweet how worried Calan is for the woman he finds. When he doesn't think she knows who she is he keeps her safe until she does. He's a great guy that you can tell right away cares about the women in his family. He does right for them and protects those who need it. All signs of a great leader.
I enjoyed the interaction between these two. They worked well together and when he knew what happened to her did all he could to protect her from harm. You have a ton of interaction between the couple and his mother, sister, and cousin but not so much with the other people in his clan so you do feel like you are missing something.
One of the things I like about Sands's writing is the connection between people. I understood why this story went the way it did and enjoyed it totally but craved something...
Sadly I'm done with In Her Highlander's Bed and have to wait a year for another of her historicals I will say that you don't have to read these in order as long as you read her sister's story before this one. I think it works so much better when you already know what's going on. The main plot is an ongoing plot that covers both sisters' stories. It's not a must but it will just read better. You don't have to read the Buchanans first but why not?

Sadly this review is going to be a mix of good and bad. I find these reviews to be the hardest to write.
The reason I picked this one is the great cover. I love stories with animals that play a role in them. They like babies often give the characters someone to talk to without really talking and to quickly fix a problem. A wonderful way for us to become involved.
The story starts off with an alarm going off in a mall. I get that it would make a great way to meet but what was weird is the heroine. She's just, I don't know how to explain it. Her reactions are just...different. The next thing you know she's on a blind date with the guy who had just in her opinion treated her rudely.
Still all good but then you find out she doesn't date anyone in the military. You're not totally sure why but you figure she must have a reason. Hey, if you can't go out with someone for whatever reason you shouldn't do it. Why would you make yourself uncomfortable? All that is fine. What's not fine is that she lets her father dare her to go out with him again.
This just came off a bit childish, but I guess the whole idea of the book is. So going against what she feels she goes out with him and then spends the rest of the book whining. Okay, maybe not the whole book but that's kinda how it felt to me. It's not that I didn't like her I just got a bit tired of her after a while.
I will say that I really liked Ethan but didn't feel like I really got to know him because of all that I mentioned. I also was a little disappointed that I felt like we didn't get much of his work and felt that the cover made you think that the dog would be in the story a lot more after all the series is called Man's Best Friend.
As a whole, the story isn't horrible but not exactly the one I loved either. I might try the next book in the series and see if I like those characters more. If not sadly I will be done with this author.

This is only the second story I read by her. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and wanted to read this one too and I'm glad I did.
I truly enjoyed this family. I like reading about their lives. Up this time is Mark. This is a bit of a second-chance romance. They were young and did really have a ton of romance going on. Now here's their chance.
Sadly Veronica's marriage taught her not to trust men so Mark has his work cut out for him.
I liked how gently he was with her. He still wanted to have a relationship with her even though she made it pretty plain that she couldn't love another man. Mark was so sweet that it was impossible to not fall in love.
You'll enjoy seeing how Veronica takes back her life and becomes strong again. Mark helps her find her confidence and be the person she can be.
The idea of a bookstore/bakery is such a cute one. I know I'd go. What a perfect way of getting them to spend so much time together. Having Mark fix up the bookstore to be a bookstore/bakery keeps him in her life. Even if it's only for a while.
I found this to be a very sweet romance with some ups and downs. Life isn't always easy and this showed that and how things can always change. If you like small-town well-written romances you'll really enjoy this one.
[image] As I mentioned when I reviewed the first book in the SWAT Shifter series I really enjoyed the premise of this series. Plus with this only bein [image] As I mentioned when I reviewed the first book in the SWAT Shifter series I really enjoyed the premise of this series. Plus with this only being less than 200 pages the whole fated mate's theory works to help speed up the meet and fall in love.
Sadly for Nash a bear shifter, my favorite shifter of them all, his mate is married. Since I already liked Nash from the previous book I felt so bad for him. He's such a sweet, good-natured person/bear. My heart broke for him to find out his mate had another.
Soon you realize that what Aria has is a mess on her hands and lucky she has a mate who is also an FBI SWAT officer to help her.
I understand why Aria did what she did. She's a good-hearted person who is willing to help someone. Sadly the person isn't worth helping. It's no fun being trapped in trouble of your own making and that's kinda where Aria is. She can't get out of her marriage without raining trouble down on her own head but living the way she isn't good either.
You'll quickly fall for these two. You'll love the way that Nash protects her and makes her safe. I really enjoyed their romance it's sweet, hot, and loving. Right away you see that nature picked well for them. I also enjoyed the interaction between Nash and his team. These guys stick together even when they are giving each other a hard time. Their relationship is why I kept reading this series. Love these guys. If you are looking for a quick, easy-to-read shifter story with some suspense then this series is for you.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was looking forward to reading the next one. Like A Baby Changes Everything, A Proposal Changes Everything is about the Blackwood family.
Up this time is Jack Blackwood who is a writer. He and his best friend Tess have been friends since they were kids. Their relationship from the beginning is clearly just friends until it isn't.
I really enjoyed Jack and his family. The way he goes to his brother for advice is sweet. We all have that moment of not knowing if what we are doing is the right thing. I also liked how his younger brother gave him such a hard time about his growing feelings for Tess. Brothers are like that.
I enjoyed Tess too but she seemed to have a few self-confidence issues. I got that she was afraid to lose her best friend but, to be honest, she was going to lose him anyway one day. I'm not sure any woman would have been comfortable about them spending so much time together.
I did like how they worked out their issues and learned that what they have been feeling for so long for each other was love. These two have been dating since they were little kids and just didn't know it. You see it in every little action they do. They know each other so well and get along better than more. All they needed to see is if the physical part of their relationship worked
As a whole, this is a very sweet small-town romance that is very easy to read.

If you follow me then you know how much I love reading J. D. Robb. For some reason, her books feed my soul. I just love her characters and feel like they are part of my life. Weird I know. But all the same, I am always happy to see what's going on in their lives.
Festive in Death is a very good book to read. I enjoyed the story as a whole. The mystery is a good one with characters you'll feel for and others that you'll think got what they deserved. As with all her cases Eve works this one just as hard. She doesn't let the holidays get in her way at all.
What I loved about this one is that as Eve deals with finding a killer she's always trying to Christmas shop. Something she doesn't really like to do. I don't think she's good at showing how she feels about people and getting them a gift that might mean something to them would give them a big clue about her feelings.
Festive in Death turned out to be one of my favorites of hers. Partly because of the mystery but mostly for Roarke and Eve's Christmas party. What a good time that must have been. By the time I was done with this one, I couldn't wait to read the next book in the series.
If you haven't yet read her I will say that you really should read her books in order. Yes, each one has a complete story in it but I think you'll love to see the growth of all the characters. Each of the important supporting characters grows in some way from book to book.
[image] I always enjoy reading Jayne Ann Krentz. She always has these wonderful, real feeling characters. She writes the type of characters that you'd [image] I always enjoy reading Jayne Ann Krentz. She always has these wonderful, real feeling characters. She writes the type of characters that you'd like to get to know. Sleep No More is the first of a new series and one I think you'll enjoy.
We start out with a bit of a mystery and a bunch of people who lost some memory.
You'll be introduced to both Ambrose and Pallas (cool names) and Pallas friends. This starts off with Ambrose asking Pallas to help him understand a memory. While he was at a sleep institute, he believes he heard someone being murdered but with his life such a mess he can't be sure. Pallas steps in to help him understand what he saw and to figure out how to handle it.
These two works very well together. Right away you feel the bond that they are forming. I really enjoyed both of them. They are easy to enjoy characters which makes for a better story.
I will say that in the beginning the story moved slowly for me. I was just not messing with it. When it finally did click, I was about to get more into it and the story became much better. There are many twists and turns and because this is only book one you don't really have an ending per se. Yes, you get an ending/beginning of Ambrose and Pallas's love story but what happened to them both and her friends you don't know yet.
I didn't mind the ending and having to wait till the next book for more. Well, let me rephrase that, I didn't mind the open ending what I do mind is the long wait till the next one. I was never good at these types of stories. If you're not going to end the main story in book one, then give me them all in a timely manner.
Even with the few things that I didn't care for I really enjoyed this story and want more. I think if you like stories with a mystery and some paranormal you'll enjoy this one.

Her stories always make me feel happy. She writes wonderful characters that make you want to know their stories. Add that to it being a Christmas story and I'm in heaven.
I think you'll really love both Brady and Noelle. They are so perfect together even if their timing isn't the greatest. Thankfully it's Christmas and they finally get it together. Or at least they are trying to.
This is a very quick read and their romance happens quickly but in the scheme of things it doesn't they've known each other for a very long time and have cared for each other. You don't have to wonder how they feel about each other because they both share their feelings with you right away and also pretty fast with each other.
The mystery part of the story is pretty good too. It keeps you wondering throughout the story and has a great ending to it. I think I'd love a tiny bit more about the why part but it doesn't hurt the story not knowing.
I so love that Brady knows Noelle so well that what he does for her at the end of the book makes it even sweeter. He gives her something that her heart always wanted, well two things. I also think you'll love the interactions between Brady and Noelle's brother. So funny at times. If you are looking for a fast-to-read Christmas story then this one is for you.

I've loved them all and as sad as it is that we are leaving them I am excited for what's next.
I would like to say she saved the best for last but since they are all so good I can't really say that. I will say that she saved one of the sexiest of the Prescotts for last. Since you meet Hudson you feel like he's a sexy alpha male that is a marshmallow inside for those he cares about.
You will just love Hudson and Violet's story. They are just perfect for each other. The sweetest people you'll ever meet.
What I liked about them is that since they've been friends for such a long time they already know all the little things about each other. What they don't know is how to deal with having a sexual relationship and still stay friends.
Weirdly Hudson doesn't have the same issues as Violet does. She has so much baggage from her childhood that she has an issue with seeing herself as those around her see her. She still sees that little girl who is struggling. With the help of Hudson and a very sweet woman, she learns to take a chance and live.
You'll love to see how they grow as people and just how much they love each other. The best part of this story is that there is no big issue that happens to them. They don't have a big fight that helps them realize that love each other they just, know.
If you haven't yet read this series it's well worth reading. You'll love each of the stories that the author has created. I will share with you that they are very sexy so if that's not your jam you might want to go into them carefully but for those who don't mind needing a cold drink after reading it you'll just love it.
