I was afraid before starting this because i had high expectations after the last short story, where we saw what happened to Stacy and Pashov, but i wasnt disappointed at all.
Did i say about my last read that it was kind of depressing? I take it back, it has nothing on this one. I always get too involved in the books i read (thats why i cant read unsafe books) so no surprise that i was crying with Stacy half of the time during this.
I have read lot of reviews where readers complain about Stacy and her behavior, that she was whiney and wasnt thankful that he survived, well, i didnt see that. I think she was reacting the way most of us would. Yes she cried a lot, but who wouldnt? The man (can i say man?lol more likely male) you love doesnt remember you and your child, and he refers to that child as yours, not ours... Really tell me how would you react to this? In my opinion she was handling everything as best as she could. She didnt want to be just responsibility for him so she stayed away and i cant blame her.
Pashov.. huh. Well, he was great and sometimes he wasnt, nothing wrong about him but i really wanted him to go the whole-caveman thing on Stacy. Yes he was possessive and felt later pull towards her but it wasnt insta love and not even insta lust. I dont know...when i read Stacy POV i was so frustrated with him but than we got his POV and i was like, yeah, that makes sence, lol. So yep, they were frustrating, mostly because of the lack of communication. For example what he said when they got home nearly at the end of the book? (They should split up and go to live in different houses, and i have to mention that they already bonded again at this point.)
Good. I was like WTF did you just said? Good? I wanted to shake with him so badly. But than again i calmed down when i got his POV and understood things from his view. So yes, i wish he would be more persistent on being with his mate again, especially after the alone-time they spent together from the others.
Can say that my emotions were all over the place with this one and i enjoyed it. Even the story although there wasnt much happening.
Not sure if i want to read Asha story, she is still the OW for me. ...more

Safety: (view spoiler)[ No cheating. - Sounds weird right? But its true. No OW showing up. No one after meeting. OM drama. Hero didnt use condoms with OW. Dead OW, had child with her but the child died too. Heroine virgin, hero was with many - we have there even what he did to that dead OW and its very descriptive - like how much he fucked her, that he used on her so many toys, how hard he could make her cum... just the things you want to know, lol. Hero is 35 and h 18. (hide spoiler)]...more

The writing was good and it was low angst which i usually enjoy. I love second chance romance (if they are safe of course), but the years they didnt see each other in this one was too long for me, wish it would be less than 7 years.
Heroine... Meh. Still dont know how i feel about her. She did something unforgivable (at least in my eyes) to hero and her reasoning wasnt enough. (view spoiler)[ Not telling Grant that they have daughter was pretty fucked up. For 7 fucking years. (hide spoiler)] And he forgave way too easily. I wish she would grovel, a lot, hell, even a little would be better than just sorry. She just said she knew it wasnt the best desicion and that she was young (17) and her heroical reason ala "I didnt want to destroy your career" was....ugh. Hated her in that moment. And the worst is that she wouldnt even come back and tell him if she wasnt sick. Also want to add that i felt like the illness was there just to make the readers like the heroine somehow after her previous actions. Yes, its true that i started to feel sorry for her later because of that but i didnt care for her.
(view spoiler)[The way they treated Charlie (the kid) like she was adult was eyes-rolling, she is just seven years old but they talked with her about the illness like she would understand it. I have two siblings of 9 years and 12 years and i know that they wouldnt fully understand even in their age what is going on. I know that Charlie is smart like some super kid but it still didnt make sense and felt weird (hide spoiler)]
he made the book for me. I loved that he wasnt handsome in the usual way, definitely not some pretty face we are used to in so many romance books - it just gets old. He is some romance unicorn. Faithfull from the very start which was when they met at the age 9 and 13, possesive, hard-working, loving, the things he did for Ryan... And the things he said..
“I’d rather have one day with you than an eternity with anyone else.”
“ I’ve been close to you for the past fourteen years of my life, even when I never saw your face for half of those years. I’ve been in love with you those same fourteen years, and I will die still being in love with you, Ryan Hale.”
“You are half my soul … The best part of it.”
"I want you, Ryan Hale. Your heart, your soul, your body, and your very existence. I want this life and your next. I want it all."
I know right?!
He was probably the only reason why i kept reading.
The sex… Also just meh. It came at 70% of the book, there are like i would say 3 scenes and not written well. They were short and the first one was even kind of black out. I guess this is the reason why i thought there wasnt chemistry between them, i just didnt see it.
Ending was also unexpected, i was reading and than boom, epilogue? Ehm what? How did i get to ending without my knowing? Yes the epilogue was good and all but it just didnt fit. Im suddenly 12 years later and thinking that the only reason for this, is that author didnt know how to resolve everything, so she just ended it.
Not reread. In my opinion it could have been so much better.
Safety: (view spoiler)[ Hero is 4 older than h. Both only with each other. No OM. OW - just like one page from the whole book. She offered and he refused, probably in book just to show us that he had some standarts, lol. (hide spoiler)]
