I have loved Annabeth Albert's Portland Heat series from the start and I've enjoyed this all butSlick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews
I have loved Annabeth Albert's Portland Heat series from the start and I've enjoyed this all but this book...sigh, this book is simply fantastic. Wrapped Together is liked being bundled up in my favorite blanket, with a mug of my favorite hot chocolate while sitting in front of a toasty fire; it's comforting, it's heartwarming, and it is exactly the type of gay romance that should be made into a holiday movie.
Friends since childhood and now thrown together on "family" occasions since each of their twin siblings married each other Hollis Alcott and Sawyer Murphy share history, memories, and now family. Hollis is stuck in his grief of losing his parents three years prior and the holidays are something he doesn't give much thought to other than helping the customers of his specialty stationary store select gifts for loved ones and the care he takes in selecting the perfect gift for his niece, Aria. Hollis was always an introvert and not comfortable in large crowds or party situations and it's only gotten worse since the accident. Sawyer is and extroverted out and proud man who has enjoyed life to the fullest and was best friends with Hollis' twin all through school. Determined to help Hollis see the joy of Christmas again Sawyer challenges Hollis to a series of bets hoping to get closer to the man that shut him down the night of their twins' wedding.
I really loved how different these two men were and Sawyer's determination to help Hollis see past his grief and enjoy the holidays once again. The dates he arranged and the time he spent not only helped Hollis begin to see how closed off he'd allowed himself to become, but helped him to see that he was missing out on life. There was so much history between them, yet they really didn't know one another well as the adults they'd become and them exploring all facets of an adult relationship proved to be very eye opening and interesting and given Hollis need for order and control in his life, I wasn't at all surprised by his need to be dominated. The fact that Sawyer figured it out quickly and was more than willing to give Hollis everything he needed was just the icing on the Christmas sugar cookie. There were a few moments of doubt and honestly given the fact their families were so intertwined I could understand the hesitance, but overall this was a pretty low drama story.
Warm and cuddly, yet scintillating and sexy I absolutely loved Wrapped Together.
Somewhere along the way I missed a book in this series and I will go back and read it because I love being a part of Echo Lake! After reading the first book in this series, I knew I'd want to return and author Maggie McGinnis has outdone herself again with Heart Like Mine. Two people on opposite sides of an issue work to solve the problem all while fighting their intense attraction. I loved the sexual tension between them, they easy way their lives became intertwined and the fact that knowing they shouldn't be together couldn't keep them apart. Character driven from the two main characters to each and every supporting character this book was heart-warming, beautifully written and impossible to put down.
When hospital finance officer Delaney Blair is given the task of slashing the pediatrics budget drastically, a unit she has worked to keep funded, she has no choice but to put pen to paper and see what she can come up with. Little does she know that meeting with the temporary head of pediatrics, Joshua Mackenzie will change he life in more ways than one.
It was very interesting watching Delaney tackle the pediatric ward on Joshua's dare, not only for professional reasons but personal ones as well. She amazed me with her overwhelming spirit and need to help and I know that she surprised Joshua and his staff at how easily she jumped in and made herself at home. And all the while she was trying to do the right thing by the pediatric department as well as figuring out how to not lose her job. In addition the overwhelming attraction makes it hard for them to keep things on a professional level further jeopardizing everything she's worked towards.
I loved seeing the characters from previous books, Josh's amazing staff in the hospital as well as some very special kids in the ward. All of these characters added so much to an already amazing story making if even better.
This is romance on the sweet side and while the lovin' takes place behind closed doors, it doesn't lessen the enjoyment of this story in the least. I loved the realism of this story, the emotional connection between the characters and watching two very deserving people find the perfect one.
It started with JA Dennam’sTruth & Humility and now as all the pieces come together in HELL’S HILLTOP the epic finale! Through blood, sweat and tears whatever it takes to get through the roller coaster they’ve been on. Put your seat belt on and hold on tight for this amazing ride! Ms. Dennam’s writing grabbed me from the first book and now in this EPIC conclusion, I couldn’t let go. These characters have such a way of getting beneath your skin and capturing your heart. The twist and turns that you are dealt with, even in this final book you are still questioning who can you truly trust. It’s not untill all the dark secrets are finally revealed that you understand the demons that have been lying in wait. When it’s over your expectations are not what you thought. They are more, so much so, you won’t believe it until the end. I’ve always loved this about JA Dennam’s style. Even with characters you wanted to hate I just couldn’t, she had them redeeming themselves when you never expected. A terrific ending to the Captive series, one that I will miss but know that Ms. Dennam does have more in store for the future. If you love suspense, romance and edge of your seat reading you don’t want to miss this series!...more
After being disappointed with Donavan’s story, was a little leery about Swanny’s story, but Maya Banks delivers another great KGI story. When Day Breaks brings in snippets of past KGI members and bits about past happenings with KGI team members. The story flowed and came together nicely. Swanny has many demons he is fighting, not only coming back from the war with scares on the outside but also on the inside. He finds family and hope with the KGI family and becomes part of the team and family that is so much more. Eden is a model who is beauty and perfection, her appearance is what gets her her jobs. She is beauty, innocence and perfection to Swanny’s scares. After attempts are made on Eden’s life KGI is brought in by Eden’s brother to keep her safe. Swanny’s team takes on this mission and along the way Swanny and Eden find that appearances are not what love is about, love comes from not only outward appearances, but what is on the inside that really matters. Everyone deals with life scares, outside or inside, as Swanny struggles to understand what Eden could possibly see in him, he falls for her and she sees the beauty and emotion that is Swanny that few people see. They fall in love even with bullets and RPG’s flying, photo shoots, shopping trips, cranky directors and a little help from Swanny’s team mate telling him and Eden they are both worth it. Maya Banks delivers another great read in the KGI series. Swanny has the heart of gold, but few people really get to see that side of him underneath all the scars he carries not only on the outside, but inside as well. Eden and her beauty bring Swanny to a new light in this book and love, danger and mystery abound....more
Absolutely LOVED this book, NO CHANCE IN HELL, 3rd in this series, Jerrie Alexander left nothing out, the heat, the romance and the suspense from one minute to the next you’ll be in whirlwind of emotions!
Ms. Alexander knows how to keep the pages turning and this series has only gotten better with each book. She has the ability to write strong women in the face of danger and even stronger men that see them as equals, even while trying to protect them. I cannot say enough about this authors writing her style is such a refreshing change, the characters while flawed in some way tug at you no matter the circumstance. I have to add even the villains in her books will have you questioning everything.
I had been dying for Marcus’ story the tragedy and guilt that had been eating away at him but to see all the strength he held inside come undone for a second chance. Chris was his perfect storm, she stood up to him and held up even more as her life was falling apart. The chemistry between these two, not just physical but emotional, was exciting to watch and read! Even when things were bad these two were amazing together.
Ms. Alexander knows how to a take a suspense and shake you up. What you think will never be the same as the story goes. The first page had me sitting up until the last WTH moment, nothing is as it appears in her books and this one word “SHOCKING” is all I can say!
That’s what I love about a romantic suspense, the heart pounding thrill of not knowing, where you can feel your pulse quicken needing the answers and when you’re done and wanting the next book right now! Jerri Alexander did just that in NO CHANCE IN HELL!
Lies from the pasts, which become intertwined with the present. Tessa comes back to Texas to lay a friend to rest and cut her ties with the town and the two men she truly loved, only to have more questions after finding out her friend was actually murdered and that the criminal is still on the loose shooting arrows at Tessa’s friends. After digging through safety deposit boxes and computer files, DNA samples and piecing things together, do they find out the town is tied tighter together than first thought and in doing so Tessa finds out she still loves the two men she left a year ago. It was a little hard to follow with all the twists and turns taking place and there is just a touch of BDSM in this book and I found it to be more of a murder mystery....more
I love to read paranormal and romantic suspense so when you put the two together I am in my reader element! Virna DePaul is a new author to me so when I had the chance to read the first book in The Belladonna Agency Series (Bantam) TURNED, I couldn’t pass it up. This book has everything you could want and so, SO much more!! Ms. DePaul has set up a paranormal world that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning.
Virna DePaul’s use of Vampires and humans and the struggles that they each have to face with while also protecting a secrete was written so well, her ability to connect the two when they needed each other as well as showing the power struggles that are among them. Ty Duncan struggles with the constant battle between embracing the vampire inside him and the possibility of losing his humanity all together. Ana Garcia carries not only scars on the outside but on the inside as well. Still with all these two had been through you couldn’t help but sympathize for the past and see how much that can affect the present and the future.
Ms. DePaul has set the basis for a kickass series, these characters are strong, likeable, the suspense is heart stopping and the romance will keep you turning the page for more. The added chemistry between the characters just adds to the thrill of it all. The Belladonna Agency has been put together to make one formidable team and from one page to the next you don’t know what to expect....more
A.L. Jackson doesn’t hold anything back in her newest release, COME TO ME QUIETLY, the first book in The Closer To You series, is defiantly what we have come to love about Ms. Jackson’s book, heart wrenching beautifully broken people that deserve more out of life than they think they do.
Ms. Jackson’s writing is raw, to the point and it will tear out your heart at the same time you will be wanting nothing more for Jared than to pull his crap together but for Aly who see’s Jared for whom he really is these two couldn’t have been written any better. They were made to be together but as with any good love story A.L. Jackson knows how to write the tragedy that pulls them a part but that also ties them together forever.
Ms. Jackson is a master author and when it came to writing COME TO ME QUIETLY, there isn’t an emotion you won’t feel when you are done with the last page of this book. To know two people could deal with so much in their lives; loss, guilt even love and feel less deserving of the one thing everyone should have, happiness. A.L. Jackson knows how to make those feelings flow off the pages the tears, the heartache, joy and that is how a master author brings you into the world and in end you don’t want to leave....more
Lissa Matthews has decided to dip her finger into the self-publishing world with her first book The Cupcake Cowboy in the Lone Star Sweets series. Any cowboy that wants to put on an apron and whip up a batch of frosting then lick it off is awesome in my book! That’s exactly what Ms. Matthews’ created in this fun sexy read.
I have to say that Lissa Matthews’ knows how to create delicious cupcakes as well as a cowboy that makes them. Jackson Dawson is that cowboy, headstrong and determined when he wants something he goes after it. Although his legacy is the Double J ranch his heart is in baking and let me tell you he can make up some mighty sweet cupcakes. When Jackson falls for his pastry chef the lines become blurred, even more so when he decides to open his own bakery.
Cass Jamieson has rules and boundaries for a reason and when she crosses them she knows a lot is at stake what she doesn’t count on is facing her past and her fears, even if now she doesn’t have to do it alone.
The cast of secondary characters definitely added to the book they strong, likeable and only made you want to know more about them. Samantha, Jackson’s sister, is smart, sassy and full of attitude! She takes no crap and I can’t wait to read her story next.
I have to point out that as with some self-published books unfortunately there were formatting and editing mishaps that a little cleaning would fix but hey it didn’t detour from the story for me. I think Lissa Matthews has started a fun series if you like crème filling, frosting and sticky buns then you have found a real treat here....more
Dare To Love is the first book in Carly Phillips The Dare to Love series and OMG Carly where have you been hiding this one!! I am such a fan, that’s no secret, but Ms. Phillips going out on her own and self-publishing has let a beast out of the box with the start of this new series showing her talent for the more steamy side. Dare To love is so different than the other books she has written, more dominate, more alpha, she has shown that her writing style, still flawless, that there is no level out of this amazing authors reach.
Ian Dare, what can I say except from the first moment you will want him; he is the ultimate Alpha that many of us look for when reading. The sexy dirty talk, his control and possessiveness are just some of the traits that make you fall hard for him yet he shows that caring, gentle side that comes with a dominate man even with the trust issues he has you can’t help but just fall a little more for him page by page.
When Riley Taylor enters the picture Ian knows the walls he’s built are going to be tested. Riley is a strong woman, fiercely independent yet battling her own demons. Always there for her, Alex Dare is Riley’s best friend and Ian’s half-brother and as much as the brothers share DNA that is all they share. This is something both brothers must try and come to terms with. Yet, it’s a test of trust for both Riley and Ian and if you don’t have that what do you have?
Carly Phillips has given us the Dare family, they are complicated and I what I can only describe as a “hot mess” she has developed a family that even with all their dysfunction you see the love, the protectiveness they have for one another as they try to overcome the past. Ms. Phillips knows how to draw you into every world she creates and this one is absolutely no different. You can’t help but immerse yourself and become a part of it.
You can’t find anything better than eight brilliant authors getting together and bringing us some award HOT, tattooed, Alpha males, some kick ass women all centered in the sin city of New Orleans. This compilation of hot arousing stories went even beyond that, deeper, each one hitting something that was so much more than the hot amazing sex. Midnight Ink is a tattoo haven these authors have written so well that you can hear the buzz of the needle and feel it flowing over your skin as they show their artistic talents. The stories outside of Midnight Ink are just as strong and captivating; for me that made them even more amazing.
REPORT FOR BOOTY by Jayne Rylon Jayne Rylon could not have touched on a subject that was closer to me than the military. I feel when you connect with the characters it makes the story stronger for the reader and that is exactly what Jayne was able to do here. In just a short amount of time she managed to break me and then put me back together. I love the stories of second chances but what Burke and Chavon had to go through to get there was anything but short of heart wrenching and amazing. You amaze me Jayne, as a military wife I want to Thank You for this story.
PICTURE HER BOUND by Sidney Bristol First, this is my first read by Sidney Bristol and OMG!! I don’t know why I haven’t read her books yet but this author can write and write some Awesomeness!!! This is the first that also steps outside of Midnight Ink and introduces you to The Bastille an exclusive dungeon. Let me tell you Ms. Bristol knows how to write a Dom. Jacques Savoy, Bounty Hunter and photographer, takes his promises and protection very seriously. The tough as nails cop Odalia Foucheaux is a very private person when it comes to her submissive lifestyle. When that’s threatened Jacques will do nothing to keep his promise and much more. This is just the beginning, look for more of these two in her Bayou Bound series and I have to say I am EXCITED!
NOT SO OVER ELI by Robin L. Rotham I am a fan of MMF, MFM and Robin L. Rotham has NEVER disappointed when it comes to writing this genre. So if this is your first foray into it trust me she writes these scenes with such emotion you feel them coming off the pages. First love, new love, second chance love all rolled into one. This story is about discovery and being true to one’s self. I loved the selflessness in Rhonda, the dedication in Bart and the passion in Eli combine all these together it makes for an explosion that makes your heart pound and have you searching for more.
INKED MEMORIES by PG Forte My heart was ripped out with this one, so have the tissues ready. PG Forte definitely knows how to pull out all the stops when it comes to impacting your emotions. You could feel the loss that Sophie suffers not just physically but mentally. What she went through, her strength as well as her endurance to fight and move forward. Declan Ross maybe a TV star on the outside but the demons he carries on the inside are clawing at him. Ms. Forte brings two people together after five years and shows that sometimes the healing can begin on the outside. This was also a subject that touched me deeply. Ms. Forte wrote it with such care and grace showing how tattoos can do so much more than people realize. Tattoos are looked down on so often that Sophie’s story gives such a beautiful light to them.
TO THE BONE by R.G. Alexander R.G. Alexander knows how to put a twist into her story. I have to say there were things I didn’t see coming even for this being in New Orleans. I loved that she kept me on my toes and guessing with each turn of the page. Etta Santos had been through more than any women should be when she meets Christie Ryder, owner of Midnight Ink. He’s every girls dream, tattooed bad-boy with a voice of an angle. Brought together by circumstance or fate, Etta must find trust and Christie must find change before they can find each other. Ms. Alexander weaves more into this than meets the eye and to know that there’s more to come in the Bone Daddy series only makes it all the more sweeter!
DANGEROUSLY INKED by Eden Bradley Eden Bradley takes the world of BDSM to such a high level in the start of her Dangerous Series. You could feel the pulsing atmosphere of The Bastille dungeon the smells, the sounds, Ms. Bradley puts you there without you realizing it. Heart pounding with each turn of the page she give you a Dom, Finn, he is magnetic, powerful and every bit as commanding. Roison is independent, a submissive and doesn’t do anything easily. When these two come together to play Eden Bradley leaves nothing to the imagination. The extreme intensity is more than I can put into words but I will say that nothing is left to the imagination.
INK INSPIRED by Carrie Ann Ryan Discovering who you really are is never easy yet Shea Little is determined to do just that. Starting with a tattoo is the first thing on her list yet when the hulk of a tattoo artist turns her down she is embarrassed more than anything. Shep Montgomery knows when someone is making a mistake and he wants to know the reason why Shea wants a tattoo. I loved the contrast between Shea and Shep, prim and proper meets bad-boy. Carrie Ann Ryan can bring out the sexy in proper and let me tell you she makes bad look so freaking good. This is just the taste of her series Montgomery Ink and hell if it isn’t sweet and spicy!!!
BLANK CANVAS by Mari Carr When you’re starting over, moving on you want to take that leap into something new all. Mari Carr knows how to write two people that are perfectly suited for one another. The chemistry between Caliph and Jennifer is strong as what’s hidden in Jennifer. The Dom in Caliph wants to bring that out. Ms. Carr doesn’t tease in this one and for that I am totally gratefully, she makes you feel as if you are in the room, hearing those words, feeling your heart beat out of your chest. Mari Carr has that ability to make you feel like you are in the room wanting to be in that room. Her talent and writing style flow with each page that you don’t realize that you are at the end….until it’s too late, so it’s a darn good thing this is the first book in her Big Easy series!!
I need to mention someone that was important, that was Sassy as the receptionist at Midnight Ink she was a very important part of each story. Her name fit her so well, she was full of sass and attitude and she definitely deserves her own story!
It has been a long time since I have read an anthology that has kept me so engrossed, on edge, emotional and not to mention hot and bothered. I am truly amazed at the work that went into this, each story intertwined and the characters were a part of each other’s lives. These authors together formed an intricate, perfect flow from one book to the next without fault. You will be left craving more and I suggest you hit up each one of these to satisfy the thirst you will now be craving....more
“When your dreams all fail and the ones we hail are the worst of all….I want to hide the truth, I want to shelter you…There’s nowhere we can hide…Don’t want to let you down, But I am Hell bound, Though this is all for you …” Imagine Dragons: Demons If I had to describe this book in one word it would have to be EPIC! Thankfully I don’t have to use just one though. However, that is exactly what Crossing The Line is an epic love story that entails more than I ever thought.
My love for Wyatt Conner began in the first book Defying The Odds he was a strong secondary character that you couldn’t help but be drawn to. The second book, Star Crossed, only fueled the fire to know more of this man that loved and protected those around him so deeply but also held such pain inside.
Knowing that it was caused by Tabitha, a women that had hurt him 13 years ago, didn’t help with my feelings towards her especially at the beginning of Crossing The Line. There was so little known about her and knowing from the beginning the animosity that Clay, Wyatt’s best friend and Jules, his twin sister felt about her didn’t help with my feelings either. I was so eager to get to the bottom of all the hurt this woman had caused him. What I didn’t expect was to love Tabitha so much, to fall so deeply into her story then to feel her love and loss it was truly overwhelming at times.
Kele Moon does such an amazing job of showing us the relationship between Wyatt and Tabitha not only in the present but also from the very beginning. It was a powerful display of the strength and determination that Wyatt has always had even when he was young as well as his devotion to be the protector of those he loves. Watching their love grow then seeing the emotions of the past come into play I never expected it to go where it did, I knew it was going to be a difficult path but as I turned each page and the emotions built for these two seeing where the devastation occurs, ripping out more than one heart in its wake.
There was so much to this story, the history between Wyatt and Clay seeing how their friendship developed into the amazing friendship they have now as well as the turmoil that Clay and Tabitha both had to go through at such a young age. I loved seeing the bond between Jules and Wyatt and exactly how strong their twin connection really is.
Crossing The Line is emotionally charged, beautifully written story that conveys an author’s dedication to her characters on to those pages. The edge of your seat emotions you could feel poured off the pages, love, heart-break, lies and violence that came with trying to save the one you loved tied everything together and even while breaking your heart at the same time. Ms. Moon also knew when to lighten the mood just when you need it. Wyatt and Tabitha’s road was long, ugly and twisted but the justice in the end was well deserved.
Crossing The Line will only fuel you into wanting more although this is the end of the Battered Hearts series Ms. Moon is moving forward with a spin-off of the other characters and for that I am so thankful....more
Drive Me Crazy is the last novella in C.C. Wood’s Girl Next Door series and honestly I really hate to see it end. Although a quick read you get plenty of humor, sass and spice with a twist to keep you at the edge.
I love how Ms. Woods draws you in with strong characters both male and female as they fight their attraction towards one another it usual doesn’t take long for things to heat up between the sheets. In this case Amy was so comical as to who she thought her neighbor was and Troy was far from being that man that you couldn’t help but laugh. Troy was the strong, silent dominate presence that just made you tingle in all the right places even if you didn’t want to. Two opposites that was totally perfect for each other. Amy takes no crap from Troy and in return Amy drives Troy totally crazy the way they go at each other is both endearing as it is hot.
C.C. Wood created great friendships with Amy and her two BFF’s Nat and Cat from the previous books, they are loud, raucous, smartass and love to drink yet care so much about each other that it was so easy to connect with this group of women. Each book is unique but the three women tie them together perfectly. Also, bring in the strong, hot, alpha men that drive these women crazy, well you couldn’t find a more enjoyable read.
Don’t miss out on this great read, it’s a novella so it’s not long but grab all three and settle in for some laughter, sexy men and some hot and sweaty between the sheet action!...more
If you have not read any of the other books in this trilogy then please stop here. I said in my review in Shooting Scars that when the storm finally settled in this last book, BOLD TRICKS, that the “destruction is going to be plenty” and Karina Halle did the ultimate job with that but I don’t think I expected anything less with such amazing characters.
To finally see what lengths Javier would go to that finally brought out the beast inside of him for the entire world to see then to see him as something more. Ms. Halle truly knows how to write a man that knows how to bring the calm before the storm then produce the tornado within the same page and it’s a remarkable site.
I loved Camden in the Shooting Scars and I love him even more now, he didn’t take shit sitting down not from Javier and definitely not from Ellie. Although, trust and forgiveness have always been his biggest weakness they have also been his strongest asset as well. The raw emotion that Karina Halle puts into him when you least expect it shows that even the strongest can fall.
Ellie, sometimes I just didn’t know about her though. She tries so hard, wants to be loved so desperately that even now she still can’t see the destruction that is in front of her until it’s out of control.
Ms. Halle couldn’t have put three better broken people together to make an AMAZING book!! I couldn’t help but laugh, scream, and even walk away at times. Your emotions are set high in this one, you have no idea what the hell Javier is going to do, the sexual tension between Ellie and Camden is so high and the hate is palpable all around. So much is poured into these pages and that is what Karina Halle’s writing is all about!!!...more
No amount of guilt can change the past and no amount of worrying can change the future” ~ unknown
For a year now we have anxiously waited for many questions to be answered in this intricate series that Aleatha Romig has thrilled us with. However in CONVICTED she takes your mind on a totally different trip and for me personally it wasn’t one that I was prepared for.
Out of all three of the books in this series I have to admit that this one was my favorite. Not because it was the last and our questions were answered but because it showed a totally different side to Tony. If he had not redeemed himself in Truth then he would have found it here. Yet, no amount of guilt can change the past and with so much at stake the sins of the past changed the way the game was played.
To say that it was a rollercoaster of emotions is an understatement, to say that this book was epic, doesn’t do it justice. This series as a whole is a MUST READ….CONVICTED truthfully is just beyond words. I cannot say anything without spoilers and that isn’t my style therefor it make this review so much harder. I will say that Aleatha Romig out did herself in closing out this series you didn’t know what to expect, you can never count on something being what you think it is because she will turn it around and leave you stunned and at times gutted. Ms. Romig keeps you on the edge of your seat from one page to the next until the very end....more
The first book in the Lost and Found, Inc. series and I have to say Jerrie Alexander started it off with a rollercoaster of suspense, action and romance. There are certain qualities you come to expect out of one of Ms. Alexander’s books and she did not disappoint in Hell or Highwater. She has you turning the page, guessing at every turn, the buildup between the characters until your heart is pounding along with theirs; I finished this book in one sitting, missing dinner, my kids going to bed and even well into the next morning. I had to get to the end because I knew if I didn’t I wasn’t going to sleep at all. I am so glad I did, things I didn’t see coming took my breath away, had me by my heartstrings even in the unusual circumstances and I absolutely love books that do that to me.
Jerrie Alexander brings back that of college sweethearts Nate Wolfe and Kay ( Kaycie) under rather unpleasant circumstances. Old wounds are open after ten years for Kay and all Nate wants is forgiveness. After Nate left her she’s moved on with her life or so she thought. Nate never stopped thinking of Kaycie yet at 22 he wasn’t ready for the things she wanted. Now they are thrust together, she without much choice and him on a mission. Nate an ex-SEAL and owner of a PI firm along with the help of their old college friends, Tyrell and Marcus the “Wolfe’s Pack” as Kay once called them come together to keep her safe. Yet still Kay can’t get over the feeling that Nate’s need for adventure will do nothing but break her heart again.
In the meantime the chemistry and tension between Kay and Nate only build. Ms. Alexander’s gift for building the sexual tension between two main characters; a slow burn that when it’s released it’s not rushed or forced it is a perfectly timed explosion that will have you feeling the heat along with the turn of the page.
Hell or High Water set the stage perfectly for the Lost and Found, Inc. series. Each man has a story to tell, demons to unfurl and Ms. Alexander always gives a strong women that can help them fight together. The next book Cold Day In Hell is due to release soon and I can’t wait!!...more

Carly Phillips never ceases to amaze me when I pick up one of her books and Perfect Fling was no exception. Able to make you feel the connection between not just the characters but what they are dealing with her writing style takes you into their hearts, souls, and the pains of their past making you feel a part of their lives without being aware.
Ms. Phillips has this uncanny ability to create characters that are a perfect blend for one another; in this case Erin was light to Cole’s darkness.
However, both strong and determined in their own way to do what is best for the other. Cole Sanders lets that of his past dictate his future and that has made him into the man he is distant, hard, and cool, he has chosen a job that keeps him on a fine from that is reality and what isn’t where he doesn’t have to be himself. The man he doesn’t seem to like very much.
I didn’t think it was possible for Carly Phillips to write such a male especially after her last book where we meet Mike Marsden but I was so wrong. Cole is the mysterious, the dangerous and the tortured soul you want to fix, and he is F**KIN Perfect! Your heart bleeds for him, you get angry at him and you want to hold him all at the same time. I loved Mike, didn’t think I could replace him or Dare but Cole definitely did. Erin Marsden is just as strong and stubborn as the man she once knew long ago. One night when she lets her defenses down changes her life forever. Erin is smart she knows there are secrets hidden behind Cole’s armor but he’s also a different man when he’s with her. Yet their one night turns into the forever kind and Erin must show him that he’s every bit of worth to her.
When the dangers of Cole’s job threaten Erin’s life Cole does all he can to protect her even if that means walking away. Yet, when Erin is the one that pulls away Cole realized that sometimes letting go of the past is what you need to do to move ahead and grab what you want and it’s much better done when you’re not alone.
One thing you can always count on in a Carly Philips book her storylines are real and sometimes heartbreaking yet in the end she brings healing where it needs to be....more
*Some subject matter maybe difficult to read, mention of BDSM, mental illness and suicide
This was not an easy read for me it deals with mental health issues; Bi-polar is a serious issue in today’s society and not to be taken lightly. Ms. St James did not do that in this book it was done with a look at what it can do to a person’s state of mind, body and soul and to the people around them. She took great care with this difficult subject matter to take an honest and genuine approach with her writing style that made the reading much easier.
To me Tristan is very real; I felt his pain, his happiness, sadness and the rollercoaster that comes with what he has to deal with, to write such a character I can’t imagine what Ms. St. James must have gone through, as a reader it was all consuming.
In steps Peyton a beautiful caring soul that wants nothing more than to help but for Tristan his all he knows is if you love something that’s broken people eventually leave. Hazel St James shows the side of a relationship of an unconditional love which is needed when you have someone with a mental illness. All though sometimes in the end the person with the illness must come to terms with it first. Tristan and Peyton’s road to HEA is going to be a long hard road, after all this is called the Redemption series.
I look forward to seeing where this series goes. Yes, it was hard for me to start but in the end I was very glad that I finished it. Even with the tough subject, there was tenderness, humor and friendships were made that I can see helping Tristan and Peyton in their journey....more
J.A. Dennam totally surprised me when I heard there was another book after Truth and Humility, I have to say for me it could have been a standalone I felt she had wrapped it up pretty well. If you haven’t read it, then do so!! Ms. Dennam really shows you that things are not as they appear to be in her 2nd book BETWEEN FAITH AND FEAR. I left Truth and Humility gutted at one point, I now understand that as a writer what she had done was a necessary evil.
I really didn’t understand the concept of using Melanie in this book, one she was Danny’s best friend in the first book her character really didn’t have a major roll, to me anyway. I just had a hard time seeing where she could go with her, I don’t know why I even do that, question an author? I mean really it isn’t my place, just read the book. After reading the first book I knew that Ms. Dennam had a knack for the unexpected. Does she ever, I have to say you can never count on something being what you think it is because eventually she will turn it around, twist it and turn it until you have it as something you can’t believe and stunned again.
As an avid reader I love being able to be held captive by the words that have been written and you especially look for that in a romantic suspense. Not only do you want to be drawn to the Hero and heroine their chemistry for one another but also their level of protectiveness, the dominance in the male, how alpha is he. I especially don’t want a female that will cowered in a corner she needs to be an equal at his side not behind his back. J.A. Dennam was able to capture such in this book and so much more because in this one we see Melanie as a mother so with that an even more protectiveness kicks in. Oh how I want to tell you so much more about the Hero but it was something that I never saw coming especially after the last book and it literally stole my breath and I just don’t want to spoil it for you! I will say this though, he is a badass, freaking smoking HOT and J.A. Dennam can writing some awesome descriptive panty dropping scenes!!
In typical J.A. fashion you are kept at the edge of your seat from one page to the next, you have no idea who is friend or foe? Who you think may have your back may be the next one to put the knife in it? You don’t stop to catch your breath and you don’t want it to end either. As with every well written suspense there are still questions left unanswered but I have to say that Ms. Dennam tied it up nicely that I’m okay to wait for the next book and look forward to what’s to come....more
Lauren Blakely has done it again with her third book in the Caught Up In Us series, Playing With Her Heart and I have to say is now my favorite. Ms. Blakely has a unique contemporary writing style but in this book she steps outside of the box and made this one edgy, sensual and more emotional. She broached a tough subject that hit especially hard for me and had the tears flowing, however, she made it worth everyone and her delivery and acceptance of such was phenomenal.
From the moment we meet Jill in the first book Caught Up In Us I loved her, she is that best friend everyone wants, putting herself out there for everyone else, caring, supportive, fun and snarky. Then we are faced with the real truths that in the end Jill is a very good actress and sometimes times pretending isn’t fun anymore.
In steps Davis Milo, you could feel the power he commanded as a Director flow off the pages but not only that he carried such raw magnetism I could have sworn my Kindle was vibrating! From sweet nothings to downright dirty talking, Davis Milo is beyond words. Yet he can see through Jill and into the real person she is and not the person she tries to be and although he tries to fight the attraction he knows he’s lost to her.
The passion between Jill and Davis could be felt from the moment that they meet. The torment that Jill is going through on her own was written so well I felt like I was feeling it with her. The turmoil that Davis struggles with to protect himself was as if I could feel it in my own heart. Ms. Blakely knows how to write beautifully flawed characters that are perfect for each other even if it takes a while for them to get there.
It’s not been a secret that I have loved Ms. Blakely’s books but this one she really out did herself on. We are immersed into these lives that it’s as almost as if you can feel the tears that fall or the soft caress of lips. She makes you want to be that character to live in that moment in time with them and help them with their pain or celebrate their joys. This is what makes me want to read each and every day.
There has always been a bit of drama of course we can’t forget the humor that we have come to love about the books that Lauren Blakely has given us, yet in Playing With Her Heart I have to say we see a more of an erotic side to Ms. Blakely’s writing and I really liked seeing that side of her....more
Since Sins & Needles broke out and then On Every Street was an appetizer we all have all been waiting anxiously on the release of Shooting Scars. I could not imagine the pressure that Ms. Halle must have been under to bring together this book. I will say she did not disappoint! If you have not read Sins & Needles you need to before you pick up this one first.
Karina Halle’s writing style is so unique in which she pours so much emotion and raw energy into these pages is unbelievable. To sit and read every word and drown out everything around me I felt connected to this world she has created.
Javier is just as beautifully sadistic as ever. Personally for me Javier Bernal is not just a bad boy he is the epitome of them all. The man we have all grown to love and hate has become so much more though and behind those gorgeous eyes of his lay hidden more secrets of the past six years that Ellie has been gone.
We can’t leave Camden out, while others go on about Javier, I have a liking for this tattoo bad one. There are many layers to Camden that I feel we are just beginning to see and let me tell you in Shooting Scars that man did not freaking disappoint in bring out the bad ass. Don’t discount Camden now or in the future.
Ellie as strong as she tries to be honest unfortunately she doesn’t see what is right in front of her. No matter how much you try a lie is still a lie no matter how beautiful it is. In believing so it may cost her the future she wants so bad her life and everyone she has come to love.
Karina Halle has written a cast of complex characters that in the end when the storm finally settles I’m afraid the destruction is going to be plenty. I can’t wait for book 3, BOLD TRICKS!...more
My first book by Jenny Lynn, Heart Trouble, and she did not disappoint, filled with amazing sex, suspense and romance that in the end left you panting for more. The cherry on top, super-HOT cop Sean Rembert he is the total package plus some.
When Sean meets Dr. Erin Taylor for the first time at a night club their chemistry is off the charts however circumstances out of their control bring them together and because of that Sean and Erin find that keeping away from each other isn’t working.
Ms. Lynn knows how to write off the charts sex but not only that you could feel the emotions Sean and Erin had building for one another even in the short amount of time. As the danger levels grow, outside forces come in and test these fragile bonds.
Jenny Lynn’s writing style of suspense and romance was a perfect match and while this was a short read for me everything was wrapped up perfectly and not hurried whatsoever. The secondary characters are strong and supportive and I would definitely like to see stories in the future for Tess and Luke.
I will be adding Jenny to my author list and now I’m off to add more of her book to my kindle!...more
I have to say Paige Tyler knows how to write a book about a sexy zombie. Hot sexy Drake Parrish fights is inner zombie in this combination of paranormal, romance with a pinch of suspense DEAD SEXY is a great mix. A bonus no brains were eaten! Doesn’t mean other things weren’t, Ms. Tyler gives a whole new meaning to being eaten by a zombie in these steamy scenes.
Simone Kent, author, has writers block when her friend suggest using a consulting editor, Drake Parrish although reclusive he was the best. Reluctantly Simone gave it a try to her surprise she and Drake hit it off. When Simone asks Drake for coffee he is stunned. After 8yrs of hiding he’s not sure what to do but with the helping hand of his best friend Beck he takes the chance. Drake is only a zombie part-time the problem is he just doesn’t know when it will happen.
Unfortunately Drake and Simone’s happiness is short lived when the walking dead arrive!
I have to say that we are definitely given a new idea of what sexy is in this new take on the zombie world and I loved it! If they could all be like Drake Parrish, I think I would be just fine with a zombie invasion!...more
This was a book that made me feel a bit schizophrenic. On the one hand, it was hot, suspenseful and contained well-written, complex characters that I liked. On the other hand, it just could not hold my attention.
The main characters, Gwen, Julian and Chris, are well drawn, and the attraction between them sizzles. After years on the rodeo circuit, champion barrel racer Gwen comes home to Colorado to find her father has lost her savings and their ranch on risky business schemes. The only way to get it back is to have another winning year on the circuit and raise the money to win it back at auction.
She finds her way to Divine, Texas, where she has friends, and develops a relationship with cowboys Julian and Chris. Their ménage works great, but she knows in a few months she has to go back on the road. How can she resolve her need to stay with her men with her drive to win back her ranch?
I found Gwen to be admirable. She was soft-hearted, but capable and willing to defend herself when needed. Julian is the biggest surprise, the quieter of the two men, but one with a surprising past. Chris, labeled as a big woobie, comes from a large, boisterous family . His insecurity is endearing.
The book could have moved a little faster, but overall, anyone looking for a hot ménage book would do well to visit Divine, Texas....more
Lauren Blakely has stormed onto the contemporary romance scene with her debut new novel, Caught Up in Us, the first book of the series, providing us with humor, steamy phone sex, and love that is lost then found again. I can only say that, although Ms. Blakely’s writing style is uniquely her own however, I honestly put her up there with a couple of my favorites such as Jill Shalvis and Carly Phillips.
Losing your first love is hard, seeing him again is even harder, but working with him is the worst… this is what happens when Kat Harper is paired up with Bryan as her mentor while finishing up her MBA. As the sparks fly between them and Kat’s walls crumble where Bryan is concerned, other factors get in the way that don’t allow them to be together. It’s especially hard when Kat finds out the real reason why Bryan left her and the hurt from the past returns.
Bryan thought he was doing the right thing even though he knew he broke Kat’s heart. Seeing her again 5 years later and the woman she has become only shows him how much he really loves her. The only problem is that he can’t have her, not now anyway, but he will.
Lauren Blakely’s writing style flows smoothly. I loved the way she brought Kat and Bryan together with their banter and their chemistry, even after being apart for so long. You could feel it through the pages. The secondary characters weren’t just part of the background they were likeable and refreshing and left you wanting more from them as well.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted summer read this definitely needs to be added to your list? For an author’s first book Ms. Blakely has now caught my attention as my new go to author for romance!...more
New indie author Carlie Sexton shows her skills in her debut novel Fallen For You the first book in her The Killer Next Door series. I love a good spicy romance with a little suspense but let me tell you Ms. Sexton puts that and more in to this book.
Kate has had a difficult several years and as she tries to put her life back together her and her best friend Charlie move into the perfect apartment. Little do they know perfect comes with a price. The minute you meet landlord Roger you feel the creep factor and you are not disappointed through the book as the meter only rises.
At 24, Kate starts her junior year of college she is overwhelmed when she noticed the good looking guy that seems to be in all of her classes beginning to feel things her body hasn’t felt in years for a man. She is excited and scared by these feelings. Mark has watched and listen to Kate in class she is beautiful, sexy and smart and he wants her. When Kate goes to meet her SDSU mentor Neil Statton and he doesn’t show she’s put out, when he calls her at work and ask her to dinner she tells him No. Neil Statton is used to getting what he wants and even though he tried to explain to Kate why he didn’t show up she wouldn’t listen to him one thing about Neil he loves a challenge. Kate can’t believe it when Neil shows up at her work. Just meeting him for the first time and her body reacts to him but she isn’t about to give in to the charming, sexy, arrogant attorney too quickly. Kate doesn’t know what to do going from nothing to having two men capturing her attention.
Oh, but we can’t leave out Roger, he wants Kate in the worst way and will stop at nothing to have her and will let no one get in his way. As Roger does all he can to get Kate’s attention her attention is elsewhere and well Roger can’t have that.
As Neil and Kate get close and as Roger closes in bodies start to disappear. Kate knows the life she was struggling to put back together just took a dramatic turn. Not only her life but those of her around her as well.
This is a three book series and thank goodness that the next book won’t be long in coming out because I can tell you although the end doesn’t leave you hanging off the cliff if definitely leaves you looking over that edge wanting the next one.
I believe Ms. Sexton has done well for her first time she has what’s needed steamy sex, romance, relatable characters that are trying hard to overcome some difficult times and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat....more
FREAKING AMAZING!! Yes, Claire Contreras has absolutely done it with the conclusion of this series! Leaving us with an extraordinary cliffhanger and book hangover from hell in the first book, I was glad the wait for this one wasn’t forever, even if it felt like it to me. I have really thought about how to write this review to do it the justice that it so ultimately deserves but I honestly have to tell you that I truly don’t know how I can do that. This book is without words to describe it really, it is one that you have to just read and I really mean that with all the sincerity in the world!!
Ms. Contreras tied two people together that have been through so much; love, heart-break even violence and death that their unique and even sometimes questionable bond is beautiful yet even twisted at times. I couldn’t help but cry and smile for them. Cole and Blake loved beyond something that only they could understand that was strong enough to get them through the darkest of times.
This complex story was written with so many intricate players involved the web was woven well and beautifully that in only her second book Claire Contreras really out did herself. The edge of your seat emotions that you felt poured off the pages the adrenaline the sadness the joy and the happiness that tied everything together was truly an author dedicating herself as well as her characters to those pages. A definite rollercoaster for Blake and Cole but Holy Hell if I didn’t feel it with them also!
Her secondary characters take no backstage either, they are also written with so much personality that it’s not difficult to get attached to each of them as well. If you didn’t in the first book then you will in this one and as new ones are introduced especially Dean and Conner you only find yourself wanting more. Yes, two new bad boys come in! I tell you Ms. Contreras knows how to throw some curves into her stories. This lady is not without her limits and I absolutely love her for it!!
Darkness Before Dawn starts up where There Is No Light In Darkness ended so you must read it first. This is not a standalone but let me tell you this is one series you will not regret reading. These are the only two in the Darkness series however, I do have it on very good authority that Ms. Contreras will be putting up an epilogue that she will be posting on line. You don’t want to miss it! I know I won’t!!!...more
New author A.L. Zaun has come out with her debut novel The Do Over with flying colors, with a new twist on book boyfriends, kindle addictions and the meaning of interventions. I have to say that I was able to totally relate as well as many of you that will read this book. I absolutely loved how she made it okay to be Team Kindle but for those that couldn’t understand the book obsession well they would just never get it anyway.
Wrapping herself up in her romance novels even more after a devastating break is easier than getting hurt according to Danielle, Dani, yet when her friends stage an intervention to take away her Kindle Dani is having none of that! When she meets fireman Liam Lucas the sparks go off instantly between the two of them but she questions herself instantly is it her imagination from all the books or are these real feelings.
The attraction to Dani was immediate for Liam he hadn’t felt this way about a woman in over five years. He loved her smile, her passion about her books; everything about her, he was falling fast and furious. He knew that she had been hurt and hurt badly and he wanted to make sure that she knew he wasn’t leaving her, ever.
Rick Marin alphahole extraordinaire, man whore of the first order, arrogant and thought he was above reproach also wealth, gorgeous and new it. After breaking Dani’s heart to pieces two years before when Rick sees her again he knows he wants her back even if she is with someone else. He knows she loved him once and will stop at nothing to get her back.
I loved how this book was written we get all three POV’s which I have to say is EPIC!! Liam is a total Loveable HOTTIE there is nothing about that fireman that you can find wrong. Rick what I can say I Hate that I Loved him!!! He is a smart ass yet has his moments. We have the ultimate Good Boy vs. Bad Boy going on. It was all written and played out so well. Each characters story even the secondary ones were written with style and grace, humility, humor and with a lot of emotion. I have to say for a new author I found little to no flaws with the writing or the editing. If you do well then, my bad. I just didn’t and I read it twice.
Congratulations on a job well done and for a first novel I have to say it wasn’t just good but it was great!
No two people could have been written more perfectly for each other than Leo Nash and Samantha Williams. A man submerged in the limelight and a woman that wants absolutely nothing to do with it. Kristen Proby literally rocked my panties off in Rock With Me!! Leo, Leo, Leo *sigh*!!
Leo and Sam had an instant connection a chemistry that was so thick you could cut it with a knife but Sam doesn’t do celebrities, been there done that even if Nash is her favorite band and Leo is a Rock God, not going to happen. Leo wants Sam but he doesn’t do relationships and for some reason the “ice queen” gets under his skin. Although he and his band is on a break from touring he knows it’s stupid to even think about getting involved with Sam but there is something underneath the “ice” that just calls to him.
Leo and Sam have so much more in common than they think she is afraid to trust and he is afraid to open up but once these two are together there is no stopping it they are so f’in perfect together! They freaking heat up the sheets and let me tell you Leo not only rocks it on the stage but he rocks it off as well. HOT.HOT.HOT!!!! That man is pure S.E.X!! Not only that but there was just so much more to him as well he cared so much for his sister Megan, even if she wasn’t sister by blood, he had been taking care of her for years. His love for each member of his band they were a family not just musicians playing and he wasn’t in it for the money or the fame but for the music and the fans.
Even with all her issues Sam was such a likeable person. She was smart, sassy and didn’t put up with anyone’s crap and fiercely independent. She cared so much for her family and the Montgomery family by extension even at her own expense. Yet, Sam kept to herself as much as possible so she wouldn’t get hurt. For someone as strong, smart and beautiful she felt her worth wasn’t as great as those around her and she couldn’t have been more wrong. It took a rock star to open her eyes and show her just how valuable she was not just to him or those around her but to herself as well.
Kristen Proby has written a series about a family of love and loyalty and with each book she brings it out more and more. You become part of the family, part of the circle of friends and you forge a connection with each one. The chaos the love and the infectious laughter of the Montgomery’s but also you feel the love and the bond that Leo has with his band mates and their families. The heat and passion, the emotional struggles that Leo and Sam deal with flow off the pages. This is the type of writing that Ms. Proby has given you in Rock With Me....more
