On the other hand, I've read the first five Tarzan books and there is beginning to be some sameness with them to a degree or maybe I'm getting tired of Tarzan with 5 more books to go, IF I finish them all. :-)...more

I'm reading through all the Tarzan books and this 4th one is by far the best so far! Some wonderful surprises in the last two chapters that I won't reveal as spoilers. And of all the many Tarzan movies made, I don't understand why a movie wasn't made of this one - my favorite thus far, though I have a ways to go with 10 books! :-)...more

Having seen most of the Tarzan movies as a child, I'm sorry I waited until this late in life to read the books and my plan is to read all of the Tarzan books. Living in The Gambia, West Africa for 3 years revived my interest in Tarzan where the owner of my favorite getaway, Bird Safari Camp on an island in River Gambia, was also a Tarzan fan from his childhood in England. This is the second book in the series and I've already started on the third one. ...more

Why can't movie pI've seen all the movies, old and new, but this is my first time to read the book. And as usual, the book is better than the movies! Why can't movie producers follow the book? But I must admit that as a child the movies had a big effect on me! I was always a "Tarzan wannabe" and finally, late in life I got to live 3 years in Africa and I'm now finishing out my life in the even more wonderful jungles of Costa Rica!...more

Because the same friend who recommended the Wingfeather series was reading this, I decided to also. It is not as good as the Wingfeather Saga to me, though I like animal stories, especially for children. But I don't think children's stories should be about war and this is a war story. Thus I don't recommend for young children.
Of course my interest in the story line was piqued and I may read the next book in the series, or I may not. I decided to go back and reread the Chronicles of Narnia for now. :-) ...more

The next book in this collection is "Jane Austen" and I may decide to skip over another "girl's book" and check out a different one I haven't read. We will see. :-) I'm a long way from reading all 50 books in this big volume, though many I have already read in the past....more
