This brilliant, acerbic view of cultures has plenty of maps, but the author's lengthy perspectives and little-talked about historical explanations are where this book really shines. Clearly written by someone who appreciates how history shapes the current complex cultural landscape, this book talks about the bitter truths of reality in an honest way that no one else is willing to. It had to be classed as "satire" to do so in order to get published. Be sure to get the "complete" edition so you don't have to buy parts 1 and 2 separately, and consider getting the hardcover.
