There are no other words to describe this book. It was just amazing. From the very beginning this book grabs a hold of you and won't let go,even after you have turned the final page. Everything - from the characters, the writing, the mythology, to the romance - was everything I could have wanted in a book. I loved everything about it. Especially a certain Mr Chios. Ah David. *sighs* If a man wrote me poetry as beautifully as he does I would let him invade my dreams any night. This man was just everything you could ask for. Handsome, kind, loyal, sincere, funny...I could go on but you get the picture. I have to admit there were one or two times when I wanted to smack the gentleman right out of him, but I'll forgive him. Although some of the things he does would be seen as corny by a lot of people, the romantic in me just couldn't get enough. I want a David all for own.
The story line was very interesting. I was intrigued as to find out what Isis was and how things were going to work out for her and David. I really liked Isis as a character. I thought she was very loyal and compassionate and always seemed to be thinking of others. The story really started to get going when Gabriel came on the scene. That boy was just plain creepy. Even though I now know why he did the things he did, he still creeps me out. Overall I would recommend this book to any die hard romantics (like myself). After that ending I cannot wait to see what the next installment has in store for Isis and David
Teaser: Here is just one of the many poems that David wrote that had me weak at the knees.
Your guise is unparalleled, Your touch entices my thirst,Your presence thaws my soul, My torso threatens to burst. Awaiting your requited love, Forevermore I shall remain. Never exhausting of time, But enduring its tribunal pain.

Oh lord *fans self* I need to cool down. Someone get me a drink. And something to cool down my kindle too, I can see the steam rising from it. Lord, Airicka you really know how to write the smexy don’t cha ;) I’m so glad I didn’t read this in public because I don’t think I would have been able to hide the blush that dominated my face for most of the book. Seriously ladies, brace yourselves for Mason because holy wow. Yum. I want one. I fell in love with this man straight away. Airicka has written another phenomenal book boyfriend that had me swooning every time he appeared.
But enough about Mason. Julie needs some attention too because I think I’m in love with that girl too. She was Bad. Ass. Like seriously cool. I loved watching her kicking the shit out people. You go girl! You awesome :) The chemistry Mason and Julie had was great, and as I’ve mentioned, they had some seriously hot scenes. Ladies you do not want to read this book in public. You have been warned :P
But even though the book is very romance heavy, there were also some very chilling and intense scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat. Especially coming near the end of the book, I could not put my kindle down. I was hooked! You will be second guessing throughout most of the book as to who the bad guy was. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep you biting your nails in anticipation. Ms. Phoenix really knows how to write suspenseful, thrilling books so I cannot wait for more like this from her. I have to give a shout out to the secondary characters, one in particular. Shaun. That guy was such an asshole throughout the book. I really wanted to sucker punch him. He pissed me off to no end. But by the end I actually found myself growing a bit of a soft spot for him and wanted to know more about him. So I am now gonna bribe Airicka with cookies to make her write a book about him :P I want more from Shaun.
Overall this was another gloriously addictive read from a fantastic author. A psychological thriller that packs a sexy punch. This is one book that will keep you up all night. A must read! ...more

This was a very enjoyable read. Filled with action and romance it had me hooked from the very first page. I really liked the characters. Although Skye has been through a lot she is still fighting on, even if she does spend most of her nights drinking her sorrows away. I liked her reaction when Xander first explained everything to her. It was realistic. She didn't just straight away believe him but I still think she gave in too quickly. Xander I loved. He is so loyal and protective of Skye. Their love is forbidden and they know it will never work but they can't fight their feelings for one another. I loved the back-story behind how Xander knew Skye. I thought that justified the somewhat insta-love. The story is told in dual POV so I really liked getting both Xander's and Skye's side of things. There is plenty of action and suspense that will keep the reader engaged in the story and there are plenty of twists and turns too. The story was kept moving and never lagged behind. Be warned. There is a mahoosive cliffhanger at the end! At first I didn't quite believe that that was the end. I kept turning the pages on my kindle looking for another page but nope. Now I can't wait for the second book to find out what the frick happened! A thoroughly exciting and engaging read....more

I was really looking forward to this book as I really liked Playing Hooky. I was so excited to get back to Jason and Emma's story. Sadly though the book was a bit of a disappointment. While the story idea is exciting and enjoyable, and I loved all the different magical elements, the execution wasn't that great. The writing felt a bit stiff and disjointed. It didn't really flow that well. And I was left a bit confused at times too. There were some continuity issues and just too much packed into the one book. Because of this, some scenes felt very rushed. And even though I was so looking forward to more of Jason and Emma, I just couldn't really connect with them. I felt like there wasn't enough emotion conveyed. The book is told in dual 1st person POV from both of them but despite this I still felt very disconnected from the characters. I did like the banter they had between them though and they did make me laugh a couple times. There was more romance this time round too (which I always love) but again I just wasn't feeling it.
Despite all this I still enjoyed the book and I like where the story is going. The writing might not be the greatest but I could still appreciate what the authors were trying to do. I feel like I should have re-read Playing Hooky because I didn't think the writing was that bad in that :/ Or maybe my standards have changed, I'm not sure. I will more than likely read the next book as I do want to know what will happen next.

So. Many. Feels!! This book evoked so many emotions I don't know how I'm gonna write a proper review. I have never read anything by Theresa Paolo but I love all of Cassie Mae's books so I knew I was gonna love this book anyway. And boy did I. This book is just all kinds of awesome and of course so flipping cute. But apart from it being hilarious and really fun, it also packed an emotional punch in the sense that I wanted to bawl my eyes out! Friend-zoned stories always get to me because it's so frustration and unfair and you just want to shake the two characters and make them see what's right in front of them. And the dual POV makes it all the more frustrating cause you know that they both feel the same way about each other but they are too stubborn to realise it. I loved Ryan. Seriously adored him. He is like the perfect guy. I want one. How Lexie lasted so long without jumping his bones I do not know :P Speaking of Lexie I really liked her. She has had a pretty crappy life and I wanted her to realise what she had instead of what she didn't but I still liked her. She was strong and could stand up for herself but she was her own worst enemy. And I loved her obsession with nail polish. I want to raid her collection :P And I adored Nate and Kaylee. Those two are hilarious. I can't wait for their book!
So yeah I absolutely adored this book. It is so incredibly cute and will also make you want to have a good long cry. I can't wait for more of Lexie and Ryan! And I may check out Theresa Paolo's books!...more

I knew going in to this book that it would be a tough one to read. I knew that there would be aspects that would be hard to stomach and that it wouldn't be a light read. And god was I right. This book was so gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking, I think I was in tears for most of it. Andrews wrote a story that ripped out my heart and stomped all over it. Even days later, any time I think of it my stomach cramps up because it was just so upsetting. A book may have a tough subject matter, but unless I am able to connect with and sympathize with the characters, it is tough for me to be affected by it. But Juhan and Chosi were written so well that it was hard not to connect with them. The things these two go through is horrendous. Especially Chosi as she is sold into blood sport. The book is told in dual 1st person POV. I always enjoy 1st person more as it allows me to truly get into the characters head, to feel what they feel. Sometimes though I almost wished this book was in 1st person because I didn't think I could take anymore sadness and heartbreak. There were a couple things that I would have liked a little bit more of, like Chosi and Jemes. But maybe that's for the best because I was upset enough as it was lol. And omg there were so many times when I didn't know whether I was suppose to love or hate certain characters. My heart didn't know what to do!
This book was so well written. It was so descriptive and imaginative. I've said this before but I really am in awe of people that are able to create whole new worlds and galaxies like this. Andrews has created something amazing here. I kind of wish this was a standalone because I can't go through much more heartbreak! But I am so looking forward to book 2. Especially after that ending! This is a violent, soul-crushing, intoxicating read about survival and the lengths someone will go to for the person they love. An absolute must read!...more

This book was amazing! I loved everything about it. The characters, the setting, the storyline. It was so well done, I just couldn't put it down.
The book tells the story of Maggie and Philip, two people who come from completely different worlds. They are polar opposites and yet they are the perfect match. Maggie is a fisherman's daughter with a big heart and even bigger dreams. She is a free spirit who lives for fun and adventure. She wants to sail the seas and see all that the world has to offer. Philip is the son of a business mogul who is expected to follow in his fathers footsteps. He has lived a life by a tightly organised schedule and tries to please his parents but never seems to succeed. He is slowly suffocating under the weight of responsibility his family is piling on him. He has never known true happiness and doesn't even know what he really likes besides what he has been told to like. All that changes when he meets Maggie. She challenges him to step out of his comfort zone and to take a walk on the wild side. To fight against the chains his parents have imprisoned him in and to finally live his life. These two had fantastic chemistry. There were so many things standing in their way, from Philip's family to Maggie's free nature. Their relationship didn't take off straight away and I have to say I loved this. This book has to be one of the most realistic summer romances I have ever read about. They had so many obstacles to over come and dreams to realise first. They had to work for their happily ever after.
Loveday and Knoebel have written a moving and captivating book. So emotional and heart wrenching. I cried so many times. This book ripped out my heart. And it has such a great message, especially where Philip's story is concerned. It tells you to fight for what you love, to never live under someones thumb, and to follow your heart. As Maggie says:
"The only power we had over life was how we chose to live it"
In regards to the writing, it was superb, the words just flowed across the page. You will have no trouble getting sucked into this one.
I don't know what else I can say other that READ THIS BOOK!! The perfect summer read, I cannot recommend this enough. ...more

I really liked this book! It was such a fun and cute read and it had a great cast of characters. Alexis was a really cool protagonists. She was so snarky and feisty which I always love in characters. Of course she was so fricking stubborn at times that I wanted to give her a smack across the head but I still really liked her. And Brett I loved. He could put up with Alexis' bitchiness like no one else. The verbal sparring matchings these two got into were hilarious, I loved every moment they were together. And of course Brett isn't the "dumb jock" that she thinks he is. I loved learning more about him.
(view spoiler)[I am actually really happy with how the book ended. I think if Brett and Alexis ended up together by the end it would have been too soon. There's no denying the chemistry these two have but I'm looking forward to seeing them hanging out as just friends for a bit longer. (hide spoiler)]
This book really did end too soon so I am so excited that it is a series. I cannot wait for book 2! A quick, hilarious and superbly enjoyable read, this is one I definitely recommend! :)...more

After taking part in the book blitz for this book and reading some excerpts, I became really intrigued and was dying to read it. I am glad to say that I found myself really enjoying this imaginative fantasy tale. I always have a bit of admiration for authors that tackle the fantasy genre. The imagination needed for these types of books is astounding, and Ms Kay certainly did the genre justice. She has created a fascinating and captivating story that left me wanting more. I really enjoyed the characters. Zoe was a great protagonist and I loved following her on her journey through this new world.
While I did really enjoy the book, I had one or two issues with it. Firstly, there were numerous grammar errors. It needed another round of edits I felt. Just before I began writing my review however, I saw that the author had noticed this and so published a new updated version, so I am happy about this. Another problem I had was that, while the book was never dull, I felt that there was too much crammed into it. I think the story would have been better if it was fleshed out a bit more and maybe took up two books. Everything felt a little too fast-paced. Some scenes could have been dragged out a bit more, and I really would have preferred if the relationship between Zoe and Matis was more fleshed out and took longer to develop. It was too rushed for my liking.
Having said all that though, I liked this book immensely and was completely engaged in the story. I'd recommend it to all fantasy lovers. ...more

So obviously this book was awesome. It is by Airicka Phoenix after all. Everything that woman writes I love and this one was no exception. While it was more along the erotic side than I usually read, it still had a great story line with a fantastic cast of characters.
The main thing I absolutely adore about Airicka's books are her snarky characters. They always make the most interesting reads. Ali and Gabe have an instant disliking to each other and the hostility between them was brilliant. I love the hate-to-love stories cause they are always so much fun. Ali was very likable and was easy to connect with. She was funny, witty, insecure but brave. She had a really tough childhood that has followed her to adulthood and as such she is a bit of an introvert. The anonymity of voyeurism appeals to Ali (Aoife), and even if the "relationship" she begins with Gabe (Q) wouldn't necessarily be something I would do, we all have a little voyeurism inside of us. That's another thing that makes Airicka's books great. There is always something relatable to be found in them.
As always, Airicka has written a swoon worthy male lead in the form of Gabriel. The man was intense, domineering, brooding, broken, and so very very hot. I may have liked for there to have not been as big of an age gab as there was, but I let it slide. The connection that "Q" and "Aoife" share was great to read about and I loved that not all their interactions were about sex. Even though they made a deal to form no attachments, that's just what they did. They became so much more to each other.
I'm not really sure what else I can say. This was an intense, sexy, heartbreaking, funny and all around amazing read. I highly recommend it!
