After taking part in the book blitz for this book and reading some excerpts, I became really intrigued and was dying to read it. I am glad to say that I found myself really enjoying this imaginative fantasy tale. I always have a bit of admiration for authors that tackle the fantasy genre. The imagination needed for these types of books is astounding, and Ms Kay certainly did the genre justice. She has created a fascinating and captivating story that left me wanting more. I really enjoyed the characters. Zoe was a great protagonist and I loved following her on her journey through this new world.
While I did really enjoy the book, I had one or two issues with it. Firstly, there were numerous grammar errors. It needed another round of edits I felt. Just before I began writing my review however, I saw that the author had noticed this and so published a new updated version, so I am happy about this. Another problem I had was that, while the book was never dull, I felt that there was too much crammed into it. I think the story would have been better if it was fleshed out a bit more and maybe took up two books. Everything felt a little too fast-paced. Some scenes could have been dragged out a bit more, and I really would have preferred if the relationship between Zoe and Matis was more fleshed out and took longer to develop. It was too rushed for my liking.
Having said all that though, I liked this book immensely and was completely engaged in the story. I'd recommend it to all fantasy lovers. ...more

And his name is Spencer Shrike. Seriously these books just keep getting better and better! I liked Ronin, had a love/hate relationship with Ford, but I fell in love with Spencer from the moment I met him. And I just love him even more after reading BOMB. There is so much more underneath all that goof and womanizing demeanor. My heart melted and I swooned hard. And I really liked Veronica too. I didn't think I would but she surprised me. I hope her and Spencer get their HEA. Those two really do belong together. Although this is just a novella and is really short, so much is revealed about Spencer and Ronnie's relationship. We get a lot of back story and it was so fun seeing how their relationship started. This series has become a serious addiction of mine. I don't know what I'm gonna do without some Ford or Spencer in my life when it's all over. But at the same time I can't wait until the end of March for GUNS! I need it now!! For anyone who hasn't started this series yet you need to get on it!! You will not be disappointed!...more

I loved how they all interconnected and that we got to see little bits of the others characters in each story. Each story was packed full of so many cute moments. But there were also many heart-wrenching moments. I don't know how many times I felt like someone had a vise grip on my heart and could feel the threat of tears. Each story moved me in different ways but they all left me with a final sense of happiness. Each authors individual style shined through in the characters personalities. The stories blended together so well though that you forget they were written by four different authors. Each story is told in dual POV which I loved. And because each story has a definitive end, you have the ease of knowing that you can sit down and read one story at a time and not feel the need or pressure to read the whole thing in one sitting. You can take your time, savor each little story. So overall this was a sweet, fun, and extremely enjoyable read. Perfect for a cold winter night, sitting in front of the fire, with a nice cup of hot chocolate....more
This book was just all kinds of cute! So much nerd love!
How to Date a Nerd tells the story of Zoe, a girl who was so cruelly bullied in middle school for being a nerd that she reinvented herself when she started high school, burying her nerdiness away and becoming Popular Zoe, who, for lack of a better word, was a bit of a bitch. I was worried I wasn't gonna like her but I actually found myself really connecting with her and really liking her. Even though she has turned into someone not nice, and I wanted to slap her upside the head a couple times, I completely understood why she did it. Many of us have at one point or another hidden our real selves, fearing being laughed at and humiliated. I felt so bad for Zoe for what she went through. I really wish kids weren't such assholes and just let others be. Because seriously? Geek Zoe is fricking awesome! Her inner monologue was hilarious! I could so see myself being BFFs with her. I just wanted to jump into my kindle, hug her and tell her that being a geek is nothing to be ashamed of. I found myself tearing up a few times when she was at a low point. But then what she did at the end of the book? Hell yeah! You go girl! I loved it! A brilliant ending. Now on to Zak. Oh my god can I have one? Like seriously he is just adorable! Him and Zoe are made for each other. They are so cute and geeky together, I just love it. He could be so awkward at times but I just loved him even more. The book is very well written, the writing flows smoothly and it is so easy to read. I would have finished it in one sitting if that pesky little thing called life didn't get in the way.
Cassie Mae is quickly becoming my go to author for when I need something light and fun to read. While humorous, adorable, and packed full of nerdy awesomeness, this book is also a touching tale, with a great message to be yourself, no matter what other people think. A must read! I really can't wait for book 2, How To Seduce a Band Geek. Looking forward to more of Levi :) ...more

It's official. I love this woman's books. I fell in love with her writing in American Girl on Saturn, and my love just grew after reading Chasing Forever Down.
I really don't know where to start in telling you how awesome this book is. It had everything I want in a book. It was character driven, with an adorable romance and a great message.
I seriously loved all the characters in this book. I loved that Haley followed her heart and went after her dream. She was a great character with a great heart. I really connected with her. And I loved all the new friends she made. Reed, the sweety, oh and AJ. He was crazy and adorable. I heart him so much. Oh and Vin. Yum! Oh oh oh and the Hooligans! Gah I loved them all! I loved how close knit the surf community is and how loyal they are to each other. And that brings me on to the surfing part of the book. I've decided that I want to run away to California and find my own surfer. I want to live in Crescent Cove and work in Drenaline Surf. Or work with Haley in her frame shop. Being surrounded by hot surfers all day is the dream ya know ;) But seriously I loved the book's message of going after what you want and following your heart. It has made me want to chase down my forever.
I truly adore Nikki's writing. She describes things so beautifully, they just leap off the page. And I love how each book has a sort of symbol you can associate to them. For AGoS it was bleeding butterflies, and here it was paper stars. The story was jam-packed, there was never a dull moment. I sailed through it in no time because I just could not put it down.
So yeah, I adored this book. It made my heat happy :) A definite must read! I cannot wait for book #2. Gimme gimme gimme!! ...more

I read Switched after Tia gushed about the authors books. So my expectations were a bit high. And I am so happy to say that Switched lived up to my expectations :)
This book was all kinds of cute and packed full of goofiness. I loved the authors sense of humor. She managed to turn serious situations in to funny ones. I especially loved Kayla and Wesley's banter. Those two were hilarious and so adorable when they were together. I really related with Kayla too. I thought she was a great character, even if she did frustrate one or two times. And Wesley? He was adorable! So different from the usual bad boy found in most NA books. He was just all kinds of funny and sweet and he plays guitar! Just perfect.
The story-line is fast paced and keeps you hooked. I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't get enough. I found myself smiling and laughing out loud throughout most of it. It didn't frustrate me as much as I thought it would. And I loved the twist at the end. Brilliant! Overall this book was jam-packed with cuteness, silliness and will just warm your heart. This is the first book by Cassie Mae that I have read and it definitely won't be the last :)

OK. It's official now. I love Ford. He won me over in this book and now I really and truly love him, weirdness and all. Huss has outdone herself with this book. I loved it so much more than the Rook & Ronin books. I didn't know how I would feel while reading it as I didn't really like Ford in SLACK, but dear god my heart just melted all over the floor while reading TAUT. His voice was so strong and powerful, you could feel every emotion he felt. Huss did an excellent job writing the male POV. Sometimes female authors don't pull off the male POV but Huss hit the nail on the head when it came to writing Ford.
Although the relationship Ford creates with Ashleigh could be classed as insta-love it didn't bother me. Normally I hate insta-love stories but for some reason this didn't scream insta-love so I didn't mind it. I think it's because Huss created two great characters, with such great chemistry, that it felt like they knew each other for years. I loved how Ashleigh stood up to Ford and was able to handle all his shit. She was such a strong character even though she is struggling with something horrible that happened to her. When it is revealed what it is she is dealing with I couldn't believe how the poor girl was still standing. My heart utterly broke for her. And it made me realize that these two broken people really are perfect for each other.
This book created so many feels it was hard to sort through them all. But what I ultimately ended up with was happiness. Happiness that these two people found their HEA. A powerful, emotional, steamy and breathtaking read. My favourite book of the series by a mile. But Spencer might change my mind on that when I get his book ;)...more

Ms Phoenix can't seem to do wrong. With every book of hers I read I just become more and more in awe of her brilliance. This book was just full of awesome and had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
I think this is the first horror book I have read and I have to say it was quite freaky. All the things that were happening gave me the creeps. I was half tempted to sleep with the lights on after reading it. I got through it fairly quickly as I was glued from the very first page. I could not put it down. I needed to know what was gonna happen next. There was a lot of mystery and suspense to be had and of course a sizzling hot romance.
I always love Airicka's characters and it was no exception this time. Ana is a very likable and strong character. She goes through so much, questioning her sanity and fighting for her life. She never gives up and is just so brave. I loved watching how she handled things. There are one or two times when I feel she missed something so obvious but I forgave her as she was dealing with a lot. Now Rafe. Whoa mamma does Airicka know how to write smoking hot boys. This guy was totally swoon-worthy. The right amount of smart-ass and sweetheart you will immediately fall for this bad boy. My heart broke for Rafe though and what was going on in his home life. I wanted to wrap him up in my arms and never let him go. I loved his and Ana's relationship. I loved how they were both there for each other no matter what. The book is told in dual POV and I loved getting inside Rafe's head.
Another thing that I really liked about this book was the relationship Ana had with her parents. In a lot of YA books the parents are either absent or not existent or are horrible. But Ana's parents were awesome. They were so loving and protective. I especially loved her Dad. He was adorable and so funny. I loved their interactions.
The story line is very fast-paced and there is never a dull moment. I just loved it. So beautifully written, the scenes will come to life before your eyes. It will scare the bejeesus out of you as well as leave you swooning over the intense romance. Another winner from a fantastic author. ...more

The author managed to pack a fantastic story into a measly 98 pages.
I loved the story-line. It was so funny watching Eliza going on all these horrible dates to try and find the guy who kissed her. I had a pretty good idea who it was from the start but it was still fun to watch the story unfold. It is told in multiple POVs so we get the full experience. We even get a few flash-backs which added even more to the story. It was sweet and cute and I absolutely loved who the mystery kisser was. A brilliant story. ...more

This book. Dear god this book. I went through so many different emotions while reading this. I adored Live For You so I couldn't wait to jump into Only For You. I was so happy that I didn't have long to wait between books.
This is the conclusion of Rae and Cole's story and my god does their relationship go through the ringer in this. Nothing is ever plain sailing and that is definitely the case for these two. They go through so much in this and I just kept hoping and praying that they will get their happily ever after. I love these two and I so wanted them to be happy.
I have to say, Ms Valentine is evil! How could you start a book like that?! I had to re-read the prologue twice to make sure I was reading it right. Don't do that to my heart! I was so tempted to just skip straight to the end to see if it ended the way I hoped it would. Luckily I was able to restrain myself. And my god was my heart put to the test. I alternated between wanting to scream in frustration, cry in sadness, and laugh with happiness. The characters frustrated me to no end. I wanted to reach into my kindle and shake some sense into them. It was like watching a car crash. You know whats coming, you know you should look away, but you just can't. This book is just so gloriously addictive.
In Live For You we only got Rae and Cole's POV but in Only For You we are also given Jaxon Hunter's POV. I was all set to hate Jaxon. I really was. But that sneaky little fecker managed to worm his way into my heart. Even though I wanted to bash him across the head so many times, I still grew a soft spot for him. He was so intent on winning Rae back that he was blind to something that was right in front of him. Seriously, why are guys such fricking stubborn idiots? He managed to pull his head out of his ass long enough to do the right thing though. And then at end I find out he's getting his own book?? Hell. Yes. I can't WAIT for this, especially to find out more about Bliss Davenport, who we meet in Only For You.
Also, what the hell is with the parents in this series?? First Cole's mother, now his Dad? I seriously wanted to punch that SOB in the face. I get that the music industry can be ruthless and what not but this guy takes it to a whole other level. The things he has done is horrendous, especially to Jaxon, and I felt so much worse for him and Cole.
I can't recommend this book enough. This series is becoming a new favourite of mine. Full of drama, angst, backstabbing, heartbreak, and some seriously hot southern boys. Your love of all things country will increase and make you dream of finding your own boy from the south....more

This is the story of Violet Rae Givens who after a landing her self in jail flees to her grandmothers home. Away from the spotlight that comes with being a country music star. Violet Rae's story is an interesting one but it also pulls on your heartstrings. She loses so much more than her good girl image that night and it was great to find out bits and pieces of the story as the book progressed. We don't find out all the details so I'm hoping more will be reveal in the next book. I liked Violet Rae. Even though she has been through so much she is a fighter. She stands up for what she wants and I liked that she stood up to her parents when they tried to tell her what was best.
The thing that made me love this book though was Cole. Ah Cole. I don't know what it is but I love guys from the south. Maybe it's the accent? Or just everything? Whatever it is I fell in love with Cole. Even though he's only 22 he has to almost single handily care for his family, especially his 6 yr old sister, who is such a little cutie! Not only that he has to manage a bar and the stress of paying bills and paying employees. He has to deal with a lot of shit in his life and he tries to deal with it by getting in to fights to release all the anger and stress. This might seem like he is a real rough character but he is such a sweety. He cares so much for his brother and sister and then when Violet Rae comes into his life you really get to see the caring loving guy underneath. I swooned so much. I want a boy from the south!
The story line kept me engaged. Not much is revealed about both characters at the start so this makes you want to keep reading. I loved watching Rae and Cole's relationship develop into something beautiful. The story is about hope and self discovery and learning to go after what you want in life and not listen to those around you. It had me smiling and laughing and left me with a warm happy feeling inside. Cannot wait for the other books in this series. Cole and Rae's story continues in book 2 but book 3 is gonna be about Wyatt and Lacey who we meet in Live for You. I really liked Wyatt and I can't wait to learn more about Lacey. So excited for this book!...more

This is the story of a girl, Ashton, who is trying to live life to the fullest but is also running away from a future she can't escape. She has moved away from her privileged life to a small town where no one knows her. Unfortunately her old life soon catches up with her when Nathan Lockton is sent to find her. Nathan has done this many times before but this time is different. He can't help but be intrigued by this little spit-fire and soon he throws out all is rules just to get to know her. They arrange to become sex-buddies, no attachments, no getting close. But they soon realise that that's easier said than done.
I loved the chemistry between Ashton and Nathan. It was so cute and fun and I loved the banter between them. There were defo some swoon-worthy moments and although the whole sex deal they had going on might seem a little crude, King dealt with it in a very heartwarming way. I want a Nathan. I want a picnic under the stars! The story is told in dual POV and I loved that. We got to her about both their pasts and what they were feeling at the time. It made the story more real.
I have to say I am kicking myself for not figuring out sooner what is was that Ashton was running from. It was staring me right in the face but when it was revealed I was still shocked! I think maybe I was in denial because I knew that if it was that it would upset to no end! And it did! I can't deal with that I just get a pain in my chest thinking about the ways it could end :( I was silently begging that it end well. I couldn't deal if it didn't.
The only real complaint I have is I would have liked the ending to be a bit more dragged out. It was too short. I wanted more! :P A very heart-warming and heart-breaking book that will appeal to many contemporary fans. ...more

I must admit, I was a bit worried that I wasn't gonna like this book. I had been dying to read it since I seen that awesome cover. But a couple weeks ago I read Cruise's other book, It Was You, and I didn't like it. This really disappointed me because I was so looking forward to reading Maverick and I was worried that I wasn't gonna like it the same way I didn't like It Was You. I am delighted to say though that this is not the case. I really really enjoyed this book and I am so thrilled about this!
You can tell from the way Ms Cruise tells the story that a lot of research went into this book. There is so much information about surfing it was extremely enjoyable to read about. It made me want to visit all these surfing hot spots (and not just to perv on all the hot surfer dudes :P).
The main reason I liked this book so much better than Cruise's other book is that the characters didn't annoy me one bit. They were so easy to read about, they didn't make overly stupid mistakes and they apologized if they did over-react to something. It is mainly told from Kellen's POV (which I loved!) but we do get the odd chapter here and there from Gina's POV. I was hoping it was gonna be an all male POV book but I can see that Gina's parts did add a bit more to the story. Both characters are dealing with tragic pasts and they are both just trying to cope the best they can. But it's not really working, especially for Kellen. He is in jeopardy of throwing away his surfing career if he doesn't get his act together. My heart broke for Kellen. The poor guy lost his best friend who he's know nearly his whole life. I just wanted to give him a big hug. Kellen is not your usual"bad boy" type that is portrayed in most NA books. He is actually a really nice guy and can be incredibly sweet. Even though he sleeps around he never leads any of the girls on. He tells them straight out it's just a one night stand. He is just trying to find a way to cope, even if it isn't the healthiest way to do it. Gina I liked too. She is dealing with her own tragic past which is slowly revealed as the story progressed. I liked that it remained a mystery for a lot of the book. Even though she did over-react to some situations I still liked her. She was tough and resilient and I loved the chemistry between the two characters. It felt easy and natural, not at all forced. They helped each other to over come their pasts and they were just so good for each other.
Beautiful writing, beautiful settings, wonderful characters. Romance, humor heart-break, hot surfers(!!). If all these things appeal to you then this is the book for you. A fantastic read....more
