HOT and HAMMERED... indeed! This is the third installment in Tessa Bailey’s sassy and steamy series. I would strongly encourage you to read the prior HOT and HAMMERED... indeed! This is the third installment in Tessa Bailey’s sassy and steamy series. I would strongly encourage you to read the prior books in the series before picking this one up. Not only will you want to know the backstories of the secondary characters, but you will also want to have read about the sizzling banter between Bethany and Wes leading up to this book. Bethany is so tired of her family thinking that all she is good for is interior decorating. It is now her time to prove to them that she can swing a hammer too. when Bethany breaks the news to her brother Steven that she will not be decorating his recent flip because she is busting out on her own she is conflicted when Wes steps up to work with her. no one gets under her skin and on her nerves like this cocky cowboy. But beggars can’t be choosers. SO Bethany and Wes end up working side-by-side day after day and I am sure you can guess what happens.
Tessa Bailey always turns up the steam and she definitely did in this book! Bethany and Wes like the dirty talk and the heat! I really like these two characters together and was looking forward to their story especially after the previous book. I think something I didn’t realize is that Wes is so young. I truly have no problem with an older woman dating a younger man, but in this case Wes is the same age as my oldest son and that just was a little... awkward. I mean this guy is so smooth and has such a filthy mouth on him, all I could think was I truly hope these words have never come out of my son’s mouth....more

Jenny Colgan completely charmed me with this wintery whimsical tale. this is the fourth book that takes place on this fabulous fictional island of Mure off the Scottish coast. having not read the previous books I was a little concerned at first, but I was not confused or lost at any time during the story. I felt as though Jenny did a marvelous job of catching the reader up with the characters. The story focuses on quite a few characters with the main focus being on Isla and Constantine. Isla is a local girl excited to work at the new fancy hotel. Constantine is a bit of a mystery (The reader is privy to his backstory but no one in town knows his truth). The romance between these two characters was innocent and sweet. truly this entire book was like a big warm hug that I did not want to end. I was seriously ready to pack my bags and head to this small Scottish island, but then I remembered how cold it was. I just found the characters in the story so quirky and lovable. A heartwarming story that gave me the warm fuzzies.

You know if Stephanie was a pilot instead of a bounty Hunter, lived in Minnesota instead of New Jersey, and only had one man after her instead of two. I do have to say though this book would have definitely benefited from Lula and grandma. this book was very quirky, goofy, campy, and over the top. A blend of mystery, romance, and humor. The book pokes fun at itself, the genre, all the over used tropes. at times I found the book quite amusing while other times I found it all a bit annoying. this style of book I’d imagine is really hard to right, because it’s a hard line to balance between humor and overdoing it. As I mentioned above reminded me of Stephanie Plum, just wasn’t quite as authentic, if that makes sense? I guess I felt at times it was just a little too forced. this is not to say I didn’t like the book I had a good time reading it, but I do recognize that this book is definitely not going to appeal to everybody.

Jane Igharo’s debut is one of my favorite reads of 2020. this is the story of Azere, who immigrated to Canada from Nigeria as a child. she is constantly feeling the pole between her Nigerian culture and emvracing her new Canadian home. she made a promise to her father on his deathbed that she would Mary a Nigerian man. A promise that her mother reminds her of on a regular basis. when Azere meets Rafael she is instantly drawn to him even though he is definitely not Nigerian. A one night fling can’t hurt, right? Well it looks as though the fates have other plans.
This book was the perfect blend of romcom humor and family drama. Azere was such a great character and I really felt for her. She really was so torn between two worlds. Rafael was a great guy who really tried to be supportive and understanding. I had a hard time with Azere‘s mother. I really could not understand her actions, although I did try to remember that she is from a different culture than me. there were also quite a few pop culture references woven throughout the story that I loved. A fun Romance with a lot of heart.

Love this series and it was so fun being back in this delightful small town. Rose is such a great character and I was thrilled to finally get her story. I love the fake relationship trope and it was done so well in this book. This was such a sweet story, but I am so sad to see the series end.

Kirstie and Adrian move the family back to Wales after Adrian suffers a breakdown. The plan is to live a quieter les complicated life running a B&B with Kirsty‘s mom. BUT then long lost cousin Selena shows up throwing a wrench into their new quiet existence. This was a thriller that kept me glued to the pages. There were so many layers and as they kept getting peeled away the more absorbed in the story I became. this was a complicated story filled with loads of family drama. I knew there was something not quite right going on, I just couldn’t put my finger on exactly what it was. The ending was surprising and satisfying. This was a well done thriller that definitely kept me engaged throughout.

Some of her books have been some of my all-time favorites. I finished this book about a month ago and I’ve sat on this review because I’m not quite sure what I think. I had just finished another book that had referenced the multi-verse so I thought that it was interesting when it was brought up in this book as well. I thought the concept of how every different choice impacts our lives however big or small. Also to think that there could possibly be another multi-verse where your life is going on simultaneously but different is intriguing. I also found the idea of a death Doula to be so compassionate and thoughtful. Dawn is on an airplane headed home when it crashes. She is grateful to have survive the crash but when they ask her where she needs to get to she hesitates. Why does Wyatt a man she was involved with years ago come to mind rather than her loving husband at home? What choices will Dawn make and what impact will that have on her life?
Dawn is a complicated character and as the book progressed I began to like her less and less. The overall story focused way too much on Egyptology for my liking. I could tell that Jodi Picoult did a lot of research, but quite frankly I don’t have much interest in ancient Egyptian culture. Perhaps if it had been woven into the story a bit more rather than presented like a textbook I would have appreciated it more? I really don’t know and I really wanted to like this more. I would love to read a book about a character who is a death Doula in a future book without all the Egypt stuff.

This has been my favorite festive read so far this year and that's saying something because I have read over a dozen Christmas books already (yes I'm a bit obsessed). Lizzie Shane whisked me away to the lovely small town of Pine Hollow with her enchanting storytelling. Ally has escaped to Pine Hollow from her high pressure job just to find out that the family dog rescue is losing city funding. This leads her to confronting moody city councilman been, who appears less then enthusiastic about the situation. Could be because Ally just spilled coffee all over him. But Ben has a saucepot and that's his 10-year-old niece he has guardianship of, the girl is dog crazy. Sweet romance. Christmas cheer. Adorable dogs. The perfect recipe for a can't miss festive read.
Just love absolutely everything about this book! AllyWas such a wonderful character, she has such a huge heart. Loved the romance between Scrooge Ben and her. All the secondary characters were simply delightful and I was so excited to see that there will be another book in the series. Loved all the festive activities and the vibe of this Charming small town. And the dogs just took this holiday story to the next level. They were all so adorable with such engaging personalities. Fa la la la fabulous!

Dark and disturbing. Wendy Walker has written another can’t miss thriller! Molly is alone on a dark road in the middle of a storm when she runs out of gas. Molly has been a shell of her former self ever since the death of her youngest daughter Annie, who died in a car accident. An accident Molly blames herself for. Molly is at wits end so running out of gas in the middle of the storm is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. She gets out of the car starts walking and the next day no one knows where she is. What follows is an addictive, multi layered, complicated story.
The story bounces between the perspectives of Molly and her older daughter Nicole who is looking for her. Both Molly and Nicole are well-developed, sympathetic, and flawed characters. There was a wealth of suspects in the story all of which I was suspicious of at some time or another. The tension in this story was ramped way up, I had that claustrophobic feeling throughout the book. I seriously gasped out loud a couple times while reading this book when the story took a turn I was not anticipating. Therese Plummer expertly narrates the audiobook. She gave each character the perfect voice, I was never confused as to who was narrating the story. Another excellent thriller from Miss Walker.

This was a decent story made more chilling by the excellent audiobook narration. I hate to minute but I think there’s some thing about Alex North’s writing that just does not work for me. I really found this book confusing, convoluted, and dare I say boring. However the story was redeemed for me by the stellar audiobook narration. Hannah Arterton and John Heffernan really amplified the tension, atmosphere, and creep factor in this story. I usually prefer to listen to my books than read them, but in the case of this one it was imperative for my enjoyment. I really hate to give less than a stellar review, but this was just not the right fit for me, but I’ve seen many wonderful reviews.

This is the second book in L. C. Shaw’s Jack Logan series. I think this book would be better appreciated if you have read the first book THE NETWORK. This book does start two years after the previous book finishes, but there is a lot of backstory from the first book. Jack and Taylor are now married and have an 18 month old son Evan. They are feeling pretty secure after all the bad guy took his own life in the previous book. BUT strange things start to happen, seemingly normal people start acting violently. Jack would be certain that Cross is behind the violence if he were still alive. Secrets are revealed, magical coins resurface, conspiracy, Mystery, and a cliffhanger.
This was an interesting story but wow did it end abruptly. I cannot remember a cliffhanger quite like the one in this book, I seriously thought part of the book was missing. This is an authentic action thriller. There isn’t a great amount of character development, there aren’t a lot of twists and turns. But there was a ton of action and loads of intrigue and subterfuge. Just like the previous book this book reminded me a lot of THE DA Vinci CODE. Secret societies with some political and religious implications. The audiobook was narrated by Charlie Thurston Who really brings the perfect tone to the story.

Meg Cabot delighted me with this charming small town tale. This is the second book in the Little Bridge Island series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Molly is the new children’s librarian on Little Bridge Island. She is charmed by her new peaceful surroundings that is until she finds an abandoned baby in the library bathroom. John grew up in Little Bridge and after some time away he has now returned as town sheriff. Molly and John have an instant attraction to one another, but neither of them are looking to be in a relationship. What they don’t know is... there’s nothing like a small town Mystery to bring two people together.
This was an easy breezy read with some definite cozy mystery vibes. Love the setting of Little Bridge Island and the sense of community. Molly was sweet and caring and of course I loved her passion for books. John was a good guy and I adored his relationship with his daughter. There were lots of laugh out loud moments and plenty of adorable animals. This was just a sweet feel good story with a little romance... a little mystery... a little steam... a little humor... and a lot of charm. Piper Goodeve narrates the audiobook and gave the story the perfect tone. Loved the sweet sass she gave Molly and the gruff exterior she gave John.

Timely and compelling. Heartbreaking and hopeful. Riveting and disturbing. Ella Berman’s debut will resonate with any woman who has ever been objectified by a man catcalling her as she’s walking down the street or made to feel less then by a man Gaslighting her to believe that it’s all her fault. When Grace is 13 she is discovered at an audition in her UK hometown. Famous movie producer Able Yorke has found his muse and gives Grace’s family an offer they can’t resist. Enticed by the glittering Hollywood movie star lifestyle the entire family packs up and moves to California. Grace loves the glamorous lifestyle and being able’s number one protégé. But things go dark when the Producer crosses the line sending the protégé down the lonely path of guilt and insecurity.
Ella Berman started writing this in 2017 before #metoo. In the author note at the end she talks about this and why she didn’t really bring the movement into the story. I have a really hard time with stories about men in power taken advantage of innocent or even not so innocent girls/women, but I have to say the story did a really thoughtful job with the subject matter. Nothing was overly graphic or gratuitous it was more implied than anything else. This really allowed me to focus on Grace and her comeback. Grace was such a sympathetic character she was so hardened and yet so naïve. She could party like a champ, but she couldn’t purchase a phone. I’d imagine this is true of many child stars they are not able to do many of the things that their “normal“ counterparts are able to. I really loved watching Grace’s growth throughout the story. She started as a selfish spoiled diva and grew into a compassionate caring human. I also liked that this is not a total manhater book, seriously the nicest most caring character in the story was Dylan (Grace’s husband). A well told thought-provoking story with well developed characters. Just a little warning there is a lot of alcohol and drug use in the book, I mention this because I think the story will appeal to teens but in case you don’t want your kids to read about that here’s the warning.

OK... Fern had the most messed up parents ever. Her father was a psychologist who studied fear and used his daughter as a research subject, running experiments on her. I legit cannot understand why she was even there helping him move he was such an awful person. And her mom was just as bad she let all of this happen? Ugh ...more

Jasmine and Ashton meat on the set of a Telenovela being produced by the hottest newest streaming company. Jasmine is excited for this new role, but she is still dealing with the aftermath of her recent very public break up. Ashton is hoping this is the role that will propel him to the next level he’s got big dreams, but he also has a secret to hide. Jasmine and Ashton have instant chemistry, but neither of them are in a place in their lives for a serious relationship. After all... leading ladies don’t fall for their costars.
This was such an engaging electric story with some definite heat. Jasmine was such a fabulous character I just adored her. I also loved her cousins Michelle and Ava and I am really hoping that they will also get their own stories. Loved Jasmine’s big Puerto Rican family and all the culture throughout the story. Ashton came across a little awkward to me in the beginning of the book, although he did grow on me by the end. What I did like about him was how devoted to his family he was. BUT even though Ashton wasn’t my flavor of Margarita he was definitely jasmine’s and the chemistry really worked between them. I do however wish the connection between them was a little deeper, but I’m sure that will come in time. The audiobook was narrated by Seraphine Valentine Who did an excellent job. She definitely spiced up the book with her wonderful narration, especially when it came to the Spanish words. Love this romcom and I’m excited to see what is next from Alexis Daria!

When Zoe‘s grandmother reaches out to let her know that her BFF Diana has gone missing Zoe knows it is time to return to England. It’s not always easy to go back home though. So she will need to face her past, a mother she has not yet been able to forgive and a past love she has not yet been able to forget. Meanwhile Zoe‘s teenage daughter Isabell is dealing with her own demons, something she has not yet been able to confide in her mother. The story is told from the perspectives of all four women: Lillian, Poppy, Zoe, and Isabell. I listen to the audiobook and I think because there were four different narrators with four unique voices and accents it really added a lot to the story. I think having the different voices really helped me keep the story straight and helped me connect with the characters easier. I enjoyed all four women’s stories, but I think I liked Zoe and Isabell The Best. Poppy was hard to understand, but I did like her growth throughout the book. My only tiny Kniggle with the book was the mystery, I don’t even know if it needed to be there other than to bring all these women together? Well now that I think about it it did tie some other stories together as well, it did a good job of moving the story forward. This was a lovely family story with a perfect ending.

This was such a fun book to read. I loved both Luke and Vada. There were so many nice tender moments between these two that made me say aww. Loved all the songs they texted back-and-forth many a time I was looking up the lyrics or having my Alexa play the song to get the full affect. The audiobook was narrated by P. J. Ochlan and Rachel L. Jacobs they brought the perfect voices to Luke and Vada. The story was told from both characters perspective so I was glad there were two narrators. Additionally Luke has a British accent and I think The narrator’s accent added a lot to the story. There are some great secondary characters in this book, especially Luke and Vada’s families. Loved the interaction between Luke and his twin brother Colin, as well as his relationship with his parents. Especially his dad who reminded me a little of Ozzie. Vada had a wonderful relationship with her mom as well as with her boss Phil. This is the perfect book for anyone who loves first love, enjoys strong family relationships, or is a music fan.

Emmie Blue is one of the most lovable characters I have ever read about. She is one of those characters that will worm their way into your heart and stay with you long after you have turned the last page. There was even a kind of love triangle and loads of miscommunication in the story. Two things that usually drive me crazy, and still I loved every minute. Katy Sobey narrated the audiobook and did a stellar job. The voice she gave Emmie fit her sweet character perfectly. The story really had all the feels. I was smiling. I was swooning I was bawling like a baby. A heartwarming story packed with character, compassion, and love.

Julie Pennell has packed a lot of fun and family into this little gem.
Loved reading this! The book allowed me to fantasize what I would do if I won the lottery. I also really enjoy getting to know these sisters. I thought the sister’s reaction to the Wynfall was very realistic as well as how other people reacted. Hanna thought if she sent her son to a wealthy private school he would be less likely to be bullied. Lexi planned a fancy wedding because she thought her mother-in-law to be would think she was worthy. Callie was too trusting. One day while off duty and driving his sister home from school his sister insists he pulls over to pick up the princess on the side of the road. Leo thinking this must be someone in costume was surprised to find out that Marie was a real live princess. A real live princess of some country Leo had never heard of before, Eldovia. Marie is in the US to visit the UN and tend to some family business. Marie ends up hiring Leo to drive for her while she’s in New York and a friendship grows. but when sparks start igniting the two are reluctant. What can a princess and a New York cabbie possibly have in common?
This book was the steamier sassier sexier older sister of the Hallmark movie. Leo was a great guy, genuine and generous. I loved his interactions with his little sister Gabby, who was a force to be reckon with. Marie Took a while to warm up to, she was very posh and reserved. I have to admit the steamier scenes in the story were so humorous with Marie’s proper language. I really also liked that we got to spend time in both New York and the fictional country of Eldovia. there is definitely no Christmas overkill in this book the holiday was more of a backdrop to the story. Charlotte North narrated this audio both perfectly. I absolutely loved The Voice she gave to Marie it just added so much to the story. also loved the enthusiastic voice she gave to Gabby‘s effervescent character. A charming magical tale that made me smile. was glad to see that this is part of a series, it will be nice to visit these characters again.

Do you have a favorite author that you feel just gets you? That is Kristan Higgins for me. She writes engaging stories about families with messy lives packed with relatable authentic characters. This is the story of the Frost family: mother Barb, father John, daughters Juliet and Sadie. Barb and John have been married for years and Barb is just about done, that is until John has a stroke. Juliet is the perfect put together daughter with the doting husband and adorable children, but beneath it all she is not happy and stressed out. Sadie is a free spirit a struggling artist still trying to find her way in NYC, but a big piece of her heart is still back at home in Connecticut.
The story is told from the perspectives of all four family members so you really get the true picture of what’s going on in this family. I thought each family member brought a much needed piece to the narrative, however I have to admit Sadie story stole my heart. Sadie’s Second Chance Romance with Noah had me so invested. I really love both of these characters so much and wanted so badly for things to work out between them. This is just one of those books that hit me right in the feels, I was seriously bawling like a baby in the middle of the night towards the end of this book. In my humble opinion KH can do no wrong and this was one of her absolute best!

Denton has Spohn such a delightful feel good tale that warmed my heart and made me smile. It has been a rough heartbreaking emotional week and I’ve been so distracted. It was so nice to find a gorgeous story filled with kind characters to escape into. Lily has just moved from Atlanta to the Alabama Gulf when her husband up and leaves her. New to town and knowing nobody Lily finds herself in need of a job and a new place to live. While at the grocery store she runs across two older ladies and finds out there is a need for a hairdresser at their active living community. Rose is the owner and manager at the active living community on Safe Harbor. Rose is a little prickly, but when Lily interviews for the hairdressing job she has compassion for the girl. Lily now finds herself with a new job and living in a community where most of the residents are four decades older than her.
Loved every minute I spend with these charming characters. Loved the hairdresser setting, these characters were just like me and spilled all their secrets while sitting in that chair. Both Lily and Rose were wonderful characters and I love the friendship that grew between them. There was also a sweet dose of romance in the story that I loved. A lovely clean romance with a generous dose of hope and heart.

Talia Hibbert knows how to write strong women, sexy men, sassy banter, and sizzling chemistry. Dani is a workaholic who does not believe in love, romance or commitment. Zafir is an ex-professional athlete dealing with the aftermath of family tragedy. There is a definite attraction between the two, but Dani is not looking for anything and Zafir believes in romance. Then fate intervenes... Zaf rescues Dani, a picture is taken, and the rescue goes viral. Seeing The positive impact this all has had on the nonprofit Zaf has started, the two start a fake relationship. The audiobook was narrated by Ione Butler Who did a smashing job! I especially liked how well she voiced the men in the book. It is always a bonus when a book that takes place in the UK is read to you in a proper accent.
Dani was great, but Zaf was downright delicious. Loved how the relationship developed between these two. The chemistry was off the charts, the banter was delectable, and the emotion made me swoon. I also loved how family and friends played a huge role in both of these character’s lives. The book also addresses some heavier subject matter, Zaf struggles with anxiety and I thought it was very well handled in the story. This is a steamy story and the sex scenes are fairly explicit, so if that’s not your thing you can skim or skip. I absolutely love this book and I cannot wait to see what is in store for baby sister Eve Brown.

PluA tender, thoughtful, and powerful story about a mothers love. Donna Heman’s evocative storytelling completely drew me into this mother’s journey. Plum was a 17-year-old girl living in Jamaica away from her parents when she begins a relationship with an older man. When Plum finds herself pregnant she thinks this man is going to take care of her and her baby. But the man has other plans he kidnapps the baby from the hospital and Plum goes home to Brooklyn heartbroken and alone. Over the years Plum thinks of her baby often wondering how her life is and hiring private investigators to find her. Then one day Plum spots a picture of the man in the newspaper and heads back to Jamaica to find her daughter. What follows is a tender and emotional story about the strength of a mothers love and the power of her determination. Plum is living every mothers nightmare and there were moments in the story I just had to put the book down because I was just so devastated for her. This is a book that really made me think about why bad things happen to good people? Plum had such a big heart and that made this story so much harder. However I’d like to emphasize this is really a story of love and hope above all. And even though there are some emotional moments it really was a beautiful story about the power of motherhood....more

The prevThis was such a sweet feel good small-town romance. This is the third book in Denise Hunter’s BlueBell Inn series about the Bennett siblings. The previous books were about Molly and Levi, this time it is Grace’s story. And even though this can be read as a standalone I’d encourage you to read the previous books. The Bluebell Inn has now been completely renovated and is turning a profit. It is time for the siblings two sell the property they inherited after the tragic death of their parents. Molly is eager to head to Italy and start her dream BMB. Levi is looking forward to moving to LA to be closer to his famous fiancé. But Grace is content staying in the town she grew up in running her outfitter business. Wyatt is a secret service agent about to be promoted to the coveted position of guarding the president. When Wyatt travels to the Bluebell Inn for some much needed R&R there is an instant connection between Grace and him. But they are both very guarded dealing with past issues stemming from survivors guilt. Will Grace and Wyatt be able to find healing together or is the guilt to deep-seated?
I was really looking forward to Grace’s story, but I wasn’t quite as infatuated with this one as I was anticipating. I think for me a lot of it had to do with the fact that Grace is only 21, and I guess I didn’t feel as though she needed to find her forever love at such a young age. Therefore I didn’t feel any kind of urgency when it came to the relationship between Wyatt and her. Also she already owned her own business and was about to buy her own house, I just felt like she was growing up too quickly. This is probably the mom in me, but... I loved visiting the small town and the inn again. It was also really nice catching up on both Molly and Levi’s stories and the book was tied up nicely with a wonderful epilogue.

This is the second book in this delightful series and although it can absolutely be read as a standalone I would encourage you to read the previous book as well. It has already been paid for. Mia also has familial ties to Levi’s family inn. When Levi and Mia meet there is a instant spark that slowly ignites as the two get to know one another better. But what could this small town innkeeper and movie star possibly have in common?
I sure do love a well told small town romance. Levi and Mia were both likable characters and I really loved watching their relationship develope. I also loved Levi’s relationship with his sisters Molly and Grace. Molly was the focus of the previous book and I liked seeing her relationship continue in a positive direction. There is also the addition of a little family mystery in this book that was lots of fun. Another wonderful installment in this series excited to see what’s in store for Grace.
