Spent a little over four hours just reading. It strikes a great balance between erotica and romance. Griffin is a monster, but he learns to become human with Ryder's/Toby's help. The first book is pure kink material, (Personally I'm not big into the pet play, but it almost worked for me in this instance) while the second book really starts to get into the emotional aspect of their relationship. I spent a lot of time unbearably hot, and unbearably sad at the terrible situation these characters find themselves in. If you are a fan of themes of restricted freedom, obsessive/possessive love, damaged love interest, puppy/kitty play, humiliation, and sap; then definitely give these books a shot.
Also, a lot of m/m books I review are available with Amazon Unlimited, (these two included) so if you haven't gotten it, and you find yourself reading a lot of m/m fiction, it's definitely worth the buy. I'll probably make a tag for books available on Amazon Unlimited if you want to check it out....more

This was my first dive (haha, get it?) Into tentacle play. Wow what a strange thing to just put out there, but we're in it now, so I'm just gonna go in. I really enjoyed this book. It combined so many elements that I'm desperate to see in my romance/erotica that are very rare. Things like a truly evil love interest, One sided love, obsessive/possessive love interest, non-con/dub-con, forced bonding, and drugged out delirium making the main character needy and pliable. Yeah, reading that list it sounds mega creepy, but that kinda does it for me too. Like I said, just gonna put it all out there. I'm glad I took a step outside of my comfort zone to read this book, because as soon as I got it I couldn't put it down until it was finished.
**Edit*** just remembered that this book reminded me of one of my other favorite M/M books, 'Want Me' by Rowan Mcbride. It has the same twisted horror feel, and the mental manipulation/mind control is there as well. I'd love to find more books of this type because for some reason it really gets to me....more

I kept avoiding it because the cover art seemed so poor. Thank god I was bored enough to give it a shot because this was so much more than a hot D/s book like I had assumed.
Yes, it is hottt, but it also has strong and interesting characters, along with a really fun and nerve wracking plot. The sex scenes were done so well. When Aedan is being forced into sexual service, the act isnt written to turn you on, but rather to explain Aedan's abuse. When he has loving sex, the difference is very clear.
I loved how Aedan and Demetrios both evolved throughout the book, both as a couple and as individuals. I loved how Cordelia handled Aedan's slavery as well, it was made clear that Aedan has a terrible life, but since it is the only one he knows it is hard for him to recognize. This made for such a compelling character arc, and the author definitely capitalizes on it.
The worldbuilding/magic system wasn't anything incredible, but it was very solid and unique. It held up well under the storyline, and it made for a well rounded book.
I had such a good time reading Blood Red. It was at times funny, cute, horrifying, and sad. It was impossible to put down. Definitely going on my favorite romance shelf....more

But I'm very picky. Drago Star hit none of my buttons. Sexy wise- I like to read books with a possessive Dom, someone who is not going to share. That whole caveman trope- ie Bloodraven, really gets me going. This is nothing like that. The female dom trainer was a no go, as well as the gang rape scenes. Plot wise- this is erotica, so of course there is no plot, and that's not an issue for me, (although I wouldn't complain if there was) but the fact that this story was so short really made the twist ending unwelcome and unnecessary, causing the book to feel tame and kinda wierd at the end....more

Nicholi's vengeance was that book for a torturous 80% of the read. That isn't to say it wasn't interesting, it was just incredibly hard to sit through all of the suffering Nichi endured. I found myself angry this entire read, waiting for the vengeance Nichi was fighting towards. It fell painfully short, however. The rage, shame, and fear is such a large part of this book I was surprised by the mellow ending. Normally I love a good HEA with a nice romance to go with it, but something about this book had me craving an explosive ending, something that fits with Nichi's passion and determination. And I never felt Nichi's relationships with any of his owners should have led to such a tame and anticlimactic end....more

For one, I felt that the doomsday prepper vibe that Taron had was a big turn off, as well as how he handled a lot of situations in this book.
But....As always, the possessive side to Taron, as well as his lumberjack body, worked well with me.
Then again, I really didn't like how the conflict was "resolved" at the end. It felt like a cop out, and a good bit of juicy storytelling fell by the wayside; which left me less than happy.
It's hard to give a negative review, though, because I've always been a fan of darker reads, especially ones with kidnapping/forced relationships.
But this honestly didn't go dark enough for me. I have no issues rooting for the villian in a story, but the author spent too much time trying to justify Taron's actions.
Plus..I honestly didn't feel much connection to Taron and Colin as a couple, and felt that their only real spark was the explosive sex....more

For me it was hard to get past the casual sex. It makes sense within the environment of the book, but it created a strange tone that didn't fit with the rest of the story.
This certainly was an interesting idea, but I definitely couldn't categorize this as one of my favorite m/m stories....more

I wasn't only invested in Vinnie and Charleston, I was dying to know about Charleston's mysterious past.
One thing I wanted to specifically point out was how well the author handled starting a story in the middle (if that makes any sense) in most other books I read where the main character/narrator is out of the loop for one reason or another, there is either a long and complicated exposition dump, or not enough details used so that the reader can follow along easily. Lyn Gala handled this issue perfectly, and it really made this book a great one....more

I can't tell you how many times I've opened a book expecting to read about someone truly awful, only to get a soft core bad boy with daddy issues. I wasnt expecting anything different with this book, but it blew me away. I went into this thinking it was a dark romance. It most certainly is not. It is all horror, and like a gory, bloody, train wreck I couldn't look away. Blake doesn't shy away from the murder and torture. I was shocked by some of the scenes, so much so that I would gasp out loud and have to take a minute just to fully visualize and comprehend the scene. It is beyond a doubt the most gory, shock inducing book I have ever read.
Claustrophilia follows the story of Chris, a young med student who becomes increasingly enamored with the work of an infamous serial killer known as the butcher. He spends his nights in the morgue analyzing the butcher's victims, morbid curiosity and something much more sinister brewing under the surface. Unbeknownst to him, the butcher has been watching him and recognizes a kindred spirit, one that needs to be carefully nurtured and cultivated.
Reading this book felt like such an anomaly. Chris is a passive main character. He is unable to make his own decisions to drive the plot forward. In most books this would be a huge obstacle, but Blake makes the story interesting through the exploration of the human psyche, and the incredibly gory deaths. Even better, he wastes no time with sympathy. It's made clear from the beginning that the Butcher is a monster, and that Chris is of the same breed. If you are looking for a book that shows you pure evil, no exceptions and no excuses; read this book....more

To be clear,I cant deny how much I enjoyed this dark read, and have frequently found myself searching for similar books since finishing this one.
To be clear, this is a dark book. The main character is kept as a sex slave and raped, so it isn't exactly a loving relationship. That being said the dynamic between Yhalen and Bloodraven was interesting, especially in the beginning when they never spoke to each other.
If you are willing to take a peek into the shadowy corners of M/M fiction, you might be pleasantly surprised with Bloodraven....more

Needless to say, there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. Magic, a forgotten past, unrequited love, passionate jealousy, falling in love, and drama drama drama. There are a few issues with this webcomic. The characters make frustratingly irrational decisions, and the plot takes some awkward turns that upset the flow. The art style is amazing 90% of the time, but the other 10% of the time it's poorly done and it pulls you out of the story. And while the supernatural elements are nice, they are not explored enough and it leaves you wanting more. All of that being said, I absolutely adored this story. The characters were dramatic, emotional, and they were fun. The author certainly knows how to manipulate feelings of love and excitement in their audience, and it is done incredibly well. While the art did have its share of flaws, the artist never fails to use pacing and dramatic poses to deliver a comedic punchline or a moment of drama. In the most intense moments the art truly shines, allowing the reader to admire a frame done with incredible detail and care. I absolutely devoured this work and it deserves a 4 star rating and lots of praise....more
