That I’m giving such a low rating. But man, I struggled with this book. I no longer can stomach all the inner monologue. I was bored out of my mind. This book is just too long. Coming in at almost 500 pages, it’s 400 pages too long. I actually did a little experiment for a couple of chapters; I only read the dialogue and skipped all the other minutia and still came out knowing exactly everything that happened. I’m serious, you could just read the dialogue and skip everything else and get the whole story. Because everything else is repeated over 1,000 times.

This book tackles some very important issues; homophobia, addiction, and ASD. But she took each of the issues and went deeper.
Silas and Max’s journey wasn’t easy, but the strength of their love and their personal convictions made them such wonderful characters to read.

I really enjoyed the first 60%. Jak reminded me a bit of Archer, who is the best, so I was thrilled! I was really interested in the whole murder mystery aspect, but thought the plot ended up being too convoluted with the millionaire grandfather and pseudo science experiment that supposedly was going on all over the country.
I think the book would have been more successful had Mia focused more on the relationship and less on the crazy science experiment explanation. ...more

The title and cover are ridiculous and I think if the author changed the name and changed the cover, people would pay for it. Right now it can be found online for free.

I went in blind because of the polarizing reviews. I knew that there was going to be a plot twist that was causing some passionate reactions from readers, and that is the kind of thing that excites me. Give me a plot twist, kill off a character, make me cry. Those are the reasons I read.
5 stars for the originality of the plot twist and the last 20% of the book. It definitely brought up my rating.
But....the beginning 80% had me rolling my eyes. The author used almost every cliche and overused romance phrase in the genre. I know she did this for a reason, but it still annoyed me. The plot, sex, and characters were so over the top. If it hadn’t been for the last 20%, I would have rated this book as 1-2 stars.
But J.T. Geissinger pulled it together at the end. It was interesting and unique.

I wanted to read about his heartache. I feel robbed!
I really feel this book would have been successful had the author written the book from only Aiden’s point of view 22 years after the investigation when he’s in his 50’s telling the story with flashbacks. It would have been the ultimate 2nd chance romance. Describing his feelings now and how his life has been for the past 22 years, reminiscing about his 1st and only love. ...more

I listened to the audiobook and found myself salivating whenever food was mentioned. I even wrote down the ingredients for Roxy’s special grilled cheese. Had it not been for the great food descriptions, I would have rated the book lower. The main character Roxy was completely obnoxious, and not in an endearing way. I usually don’t need to like the characters I read about, but Roxy was different. She exhausted me. The humor also really annoyed me. I love a good rom-com. But the humor in this book was about as subtle as a bull in a china shop. It was just trying way too hard to the point that I just kept rolling my eyes and groaning. How many times can a heroine fall on top of a hero? How many scenes do you need with her getting scared by bumblebees and running away or freaking out. It was exhausting....more

Two strangers sharing an apartment and bed, but only communicating through notes and texts. It’s genius!
What didn’t work for me was the way the author introduced Tiffy’s trauma. It almost seemed like an afterthought. The book begins with Tiffy looking for an apartment. She’s been dumped by her boyfriend, but has continued to live at his apartment because of cash flow problems. Tiffy is a happy and quirky person and even after being dumped, she’s still doing well (in my opinion).
It’s later on in the book that she starts to experience some PTSD type symptoms and remembers certain abusive behaviors. Maybe this is how PTSD works, I’m not an expert. But for the sake of this book and plot, it didn’t seem authentic. It seemed dropped on the reader.
Some highlights of the book that I really enjoyed were the side plots of Leon searching for one of his patient’s long lost love and Leon’s brother Richie. There is definitely room there for a spin off book with Richie.
Overall, it was a nice book that hit a few snags, but was still enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype. I loved the curiosity and sexual tension felt when Bella and Zsadist first met. But their chemistry throughout the book didn’t keep up.
While I enjoyed Zsadist’s back story, I wanted to read more about how he went from weak, vulnerable and victimized to violent, angry, and sadistic. I wanted to read about that transition. I wanted to read about the same transition at the end. Did he get therapy like John? I wanted more of his healing and I wanted to feel his longing for Bella during that period. At the same time, what was Bella doing? Was she longing for Zsadist in return.? Those feelings of longing and regret are sometimes the best thing in a slow burn and 2nd chance romance.

A short prequel to Binding Arbitration that packs a punch. I’m absolutely loving this series and Aidan and Libby. They are imperfect characters that make stupid decisions, but it all felt very authentic, and that’s something I love so much more than perfection. I want my characters to make mistakes and make me crazy while reading, otherwise I’m super bored. This one didn’t bore me one bit.

What really made this book special though, was Piper. She was a fabulous heroine to read. A total badass ballbuster. If you are one of those readers that gets sick of the "weak heroine", this book will give you what you want.
And like with Simple Wild, K.A. Tucker sprinkles in a little sadness that had be bawling. I was not expecting that at all. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't elaborate. It just gives her storytelling another layer that sets her apart from the rest.

From the main characters with their realistic family dynamics to the dialogue and awkward social situations. Reading her books bring back so many of those teenage feelings that I haven’t felt in so long. Her books aren’t NA or erotic fiction masquerading as YA. These are safe books that teenagers can read and adults will also enjoy.

It just felt unnecessary to the story, half assed and completely forced.
I also had a really hard time believing their feelings for one another. They had spent one drunken night together in Vegas and still have feelings after nine years? The author’s attempt at making me feel that connection was feeble at best.

I was a little skeptical when I read the summary about how a dead man could help a dream come true years later. But I was completely wrong. Cat Porter brought the story full circle and had me crying my eyes out. I loved it.
I wish I would have read this book right after Lock & Key. I didn’t because I thought it was going to be the same story just told from a different POV (which I’m not a fan of). I was wrong though. There was so much more to the story that Grace didn’t tell in book one. I loved getting Dig’s POV and his background.
Cat Porter is such a talented writer. She takes a very gritty subject matter, but keeps the story so character driven that you feel a part of these people’s lives.
With so many biker romance books out there, they start to run together. Wash, rinse, repeat. Not so with Cat Porter. IMO, she’s in an elite category with Madeline Sheehan, Beth Flynn, Lauren Gilley, and Susan Fanetti. Like those other authors, her stories are unique and memorable. ...more

When reading the summary, you may think this is just another story in the long list of books about a scorned woman escaping to a small town to restart her life and then meeting a hot mysterious man and falling in love. Yes, I love that trope, but this story didn’t feel contrived or “tropey” at all. This story was unique and I was hanging on every word. I absolutely loved that the main characters were in their 50’s. There’s not enough of them in contemporary romance. So a big shout out to Beth for that.
And like with all Beth Flynn books, I’m so sad it’s over. Even though the other characters in the Nine Minutes trilogy didn’t make an appearance, they were talked about. And since the Nine Minutes trilogy is one of my all time favorites, I will never get enough of those old characters.

I am still relatively new to the MM romance genre, but I know that this book will remain as one of my favorites. It’s was slow burn and friends to lovers, which I’m always a sucker for. But the best part is that is it was Gay For You, which seems to always give a story another level of struggle that feels real and not contrived for the sake of drama. I loved Griff’s internal conflict about his feelings for his best friend.

I liked the first 15% or so and then I got really bored. The funny parts were funny and I think Abby Jimenez does a good job doing sarcasm. But the more serious parts of the book fell flat. I don’t doubt that Abby did her research on infertility, she says as much in her note at the end of the book. But as someone that used to work in the industry and has experienced it myself, some things were just too far fetched and I just couldn’t get over them.
The pacing of the book was also off. Too much time was spent on minutia, while very little time was spent of really big plot lines, specifically one involving Brandon and Sloan.
