It took me three months to read this book, but that does not mean it was bad. On the contrary: it was one of the most difficult books I've ever read,

On the contrary: it was one of the most difficult books I've ever read, one of the most challenging narratives I have ever pushed myself through. To say that it is "important" feels shallow. To say that "everyone should read it" doesn't capture how vital Hunger , and Roxane Gay's work, is to the conversation around our bodies and how we inhabit them. It's hard to qualify how empowering and how sad and how solid I feel after reading this book, and I'm grateful to Roxane Gay for writing of her hunger and her self, and for sharing it.
