In all honesty the situation in Wicked DirtJulie Kenner creates such multi-faceted characters with deep emotional problems that will test your heart. In all honesty the situation in Wicked Dirty wasn't something I thought I would be able to understand, but colour me very, very wrong. I was also really impressed with the way in which Julie weaves her other characters into the story in subtle ways, although it isn't necessary to have read her other books to enjoy the story it does make you extremely curious to get the lowdown on all of the characters.
Sugar Laine lost her small family to a drunk driver five years ago, since that time she has poured her heart and soul into renovating their family home. Channelling her grief into something positive at the same time as redirecting her future. Unfortunately, the loan she needed for the renovations has a hefty repayment plan, so much so that Sugar is in danger of losing the only thing she has left of her family. Desperate to save her home, Sugar agrees to become an escort - going against her own morale code and sense of self. I adored Sugar for a lot of reasons, her work ethic, her ability to self-reflect and her desire to help others are some of the things that stood out.
Lyle is a whole mess of problems hidden behind the facade of Hollywood stardom. He is a very private person who tends to keep everything bottled up tightly until he nearly explodes, the one way he has of dealing with the past that haunts him is to release all his pent up frustrations via sex with an anonymous escort bound to secrecy via NDA. Which is where Sugar and Lyle's lives intersect, although it doesn't quite go the way either of them expects.
Lyle feels an emotional connection to Sugar from their first encounter, so when a swoon-worthy kiss between them goes viral, a fake relationship between them ensures Lyle can maintain his squeaky clean image. Julie creates such a compelling relationship between Sugar and Lyle you get lost in the pages and don't really surface again until there is a resolution your heart is happy with.
Lyle and Sugar may be fake for the public but in private they are very real. They bring out the best in each other, with Lyle confronting his personal demons along the way. unfortunately, it isn't possible to keep hold of all of his secrets when someone is determined to expose everything Lyle has tried to hide. Remember honesty really is the best policy. What Lyle quickly realises is Sugar sees and loves the person he is underneath all of his barriers and public persona.
Sugar has her own struggles which she deals with calmly, rationally and self-assurance. I really did love her.
I feel like I'm not doing Wicked Dirty justice with my review, mainly because I really did lose myself in the story and my usual analysis got lost along the way - the only thing I saw was the movie version playing in my imagination. Which to my way of thinking is one of the signs of a very good story xx...more

Cora is the central character in Ties That Bind. having been a Hollywood A Lister from a very young age, Cora's world exploded following the release of a sex tape, overnight tanking her career and painting her in an unfavourable light where her relationships were concerned. However, there was a lot more to the scandal that appearances would suggest. Re-inventing herself as a highly successful lawyer, Cora, understandably, loathes all of the hoopla that surrounds Hollywood, distancing herself from the anonymity and keeping a low profile over the past ten years has worked very well for her, even if she is feeling the twinges of boredom. However, all aspects of her carefully woven life threaten to come unravelled when Jack makes a reappearance in her life.
Jack was the co-star (conspirator) in the infamous tape that tanked Cora's career, and thanks to the double standard we have in society, skyrocketed Jack's career. Transitioning from actor to director, Jack has maintained a squeaky clean public persona apart from the one incident but following a bachelor weekend in Vegas, his whole world is threatened. The only person he can trust to help him is Cora.
Although Cora and Jack's previous interaction was of a rather delicate nature, and they have had no contact following the release of the tape, there is no denying the sparks that erupt between them from the moment they are reunited. They connect on so many levels, and it is obvious that what is happening between Jack and Cora is the real deal. Unfortunately, the past and Cora's emotional barriers alongside her perception of life in the public eye create some pretty hefty obstacles to pursuing a lasting relationship.
I adored Jack and the way in which he was able to help Cora work through her issues in order to put them firmly on the path to their happily ever after ♥...more

Daphne and Dexter on the surface appear to be complete opposites, Daphne is outgoing, sociable and stunning while Dexter is introverted, a loner but still stunning even though he doesn't see it himself. I love how Sara flips the stereotypes with this series, making the guys insecure about their physical appearance while the girls are quietly confident in their allure.
Dexter completely embraces his nerd-like qualities from the way he dresses to his obsession with all things sci-fi. While Daphne's personality hides her inner sci-fi geek. Seriously you couldn't get two people more perfect for each other but wouldn't have put together without getting to know them on a deeper level.
What starts out as a fake date to appease Dexter's nosy family quickly transforms into a real relationship with a little help from Dexter's meddling twin sisters. Although Daphne has to battle against Dexter's insecurities, their relationship quickly develops strong bonds between the couple and the type of passion people only dream of.
Things Liars Fake brings all of the characters in this mini series to a fantastic conclusion - true love really does exist, you'll find it when you least expect it and in the most unlikely of places ♥...more

We have already caught glimpses of the pair through Things Liars Hide but when there is a misunderstanding involving a shopping trip, that is when things really take a turn on the swoon side.
The attraction is like an electric undercurrent between Tabbie and Collin from their first meeting, however, Tabbie fights against their chemistry because of the connection between their siblings. It doesn't take long for Collin to persuade her to take a chance on them being together.
Collin and Tabitha have one of those idyllic relationships where everything just seems to fall into place, they are compatible on multiple levels, and quickly achieve a natural rhythm to their relationship. Progressing organically, the level of trust between them is instinctual, although Tabbie is keeping a big part of her life hidden from everyone else.
Tabbie is secretly writing her own saucy romance, on the verge of self publishing under a pen name, she feels as if she has to keep the information hidden or risk criticism from her family, who she also works for. However, the secret project creates problems between Tabbie and Collin when it inadvertently escapes into the wild.
Tabitha's tendency to over-react and adopt a drama queen persona adds fuel to the fire, escalating the problem between herself and Collin.
I absolutely adored Collin and his ability to tame the drama llama, romancing the irrational reaction right out of Tabitha.
Short, saucy and sweet are all Things Liars Hide ;)...more
