Upon actually reading the book, I fell in love with it even more because of not only the easy-to-follow instructions but also all of the additional content that includes facts, conclusions and questions after.
As a homeschooling mother, I can see this book being a great hands-on book that could be a nice introduction to earth science – or even just fun projects to add along to your curriculum, which would be easy to incorporate considering the book is divided into topics. Not all labs are created the same, you have quite a variety – including edible labs!
This book isn't just great for parents and teachers, the incredible information included in this book is sure to wrangle in kids who love science quite easily.

However, as I was reading and going through this book, I couldn't help to think how much fun this would be to incorporate into the time that I have with my son - either as just part of his usual day, or maybe even during his schooling. I decided that it would probably be best as something to do during free time, and not make it seem like something mandatory that he would have to do. I also decided to just go with a few of the activities for my son as he is still young and very much a boy on some things, so most was still part of the daily routine for me. What activities I did with my son, he did seem to enjoy - especially anything that had to do with doodling ("Doodle Your Loves") or singing ("Songs To Belt"). I think this helped a little in his confidence to just be himself, even when others are around.
As for myself? I used this book, day-by-day, as part of my nightly routine to wind down. It was something that could be done in as little or as long as I needed, and I always found myself looking forward to the next day's activity. I think this book would definitely be something that younger females (and males) would enjoy, though judging by my husband's little side looks to me as I was telling him about the book - I think some men may think finding their "awesome" is getting a little too deep for them. ;)
The only "con" I found to this book was that I was reviewing an eBook and not a physical book. I think that this would be much more enjoyable with the books in your hands, doodling and writing along in the book as you go. I ended up just taking a simple composition book and making my own companion journal to go along with the book.

Besides giving in, her parents work with her to figure out why she is upset and how to calm her down.
While this book is only 32 pages long, I really enjoyed the story and the illustrations. Jilly is a character that is easy for a child to relate to, which in turn makes it easy to point out to your child examples of poor/unwanted behavior. As an added bonus, Jilly's parents' reactions to her behavior and solutions are good examples for the parents of those children that relate to Jilly. So, win-win for everyone involved.
