Gorgeously interesting, Tomorrow's Path by Anna Jacobs is a modern read that starts out more of a romance than the author is known for. Interesting also because the protagonist is a writer. The story line captures a very believable conflict finding a balance, the need to be out and about to promote books while longing for solitude to write. Mesh this problem with a newly found desire to share space with someone from whom emotional comfort can be derived and you’re ready to be pulled into Anna Jacob’s story.
Just when the reader is settled with a plot of romantic conflicts the author injects intrigue and off we go on a rather wonderfully tame thriller of a mystery.
Tomorrow’s Path by Anna Jacobs is almost three plots wound in one; rather grand and quite thought provoking. Well worth five stars and re-reading at regular intervals....more

Set in 1945, these books focus on the economic recovery of Great Britain in the aftermath of the European theatre of world war two. The setting is Lancashire, a small hamlet named Rivenshaw, which is rural enough to be insulated from the direct effects of the war’s catastrophic physical devastation but not from the economic impact and hardship everyone has to shoulder.
Anna Jacobs skilfully weaves a tapestry of characters seeking their own rewards. People longing for what will never return while others harbour a secret dread of not being included in the same scenario.
The focus is a need for affordable housing yet resources remain scarce. And the money trail is changed forever; old money doesn’t have the same clout while new money seems to smell different.
These books are genuine magic. They relate very closely to the romance of where many of us came from, nostalgically referred to as the good old days.
The author focus is on the town and in particular the changing influence and fate of the big house, Esherwood. The characters are woven into the story according to where they serve the community best.
The novel (and series) is pure reading genius. Five stars....more

Set during the first European war, the story allows the reader to follow and share the adventures of Olivia Hanbury who pains with past loss while seeking to recover purpose free of masculine exploitation.
On the surface the Greyladies series read very much as expected of Anna Jacobs without a secondary romantic characterization. However, scratch the surface and out pops a subtle twist, which links the books. The protagonist passion and loyalty is divided, without being divided, between a caring sole mate and a need to pursue belonging and custodial care of Greyladies. Greyladies exists as a place, a group of people and a longstanding legacy for others, which must be protected. The secondary sub-plot might well be the primary it’s hard to tell with Anna Jacobs. All this leads to an enchantingly complex, yet delightful reading experience that plays upon every emotion available within.
Book one of the series, Heir to Greyladies, introduced me to what was to come without allowing me to discover the link or sub-plot for what it was. Book two, Mistress of Greyladies, opened my eyes yet still I blindly blundered along. Somewhere in this third book I twigged, which meant I read them all again only to discover I was meant to read them so.
Truly enjoyed this book and series. They represent first class Anna Jacobs entertainment. Great value in any currency.
