Colton's Dangerous Liaison begins the Coltons of Grave Gulch series with a tense situation and an intense romance between two unlikely people considering Antonio's opinion of the local police (of which Melissa is Chief).
Without giving away spoilers, Melissa's and Antonio's story starts off with an intense situation and rarely slows down until the conclusion of their story. I was easily caught up in what was happening in this small town and found the addition of several other mysterious events both intriguing and interesting.
There were times when I thought I knew what the focus of this entire series was going to be only to rethink that decision shortly afterward. For that reason, I believe that the Coltons of Grave Gulch series is going to be an exciting ride well worth taking.
This opening story brought enough questions to the forefront that need answers, and I'm certain we'll get them... eventually. I completely enjoyed myself in this new Colton series and plan to stick around all the way through to the conclusion. If you love a good story that asks more questions than it actually answers (but not in an annoying way) or if you love putting together the puzzle pieces of a really good romance/mystery then you'll want to get in on the beginning with Colton's Dangerous Liaison.

Someday My Duke Will Come is the second title in the Isle of Synne series, and while Clara’s and Quincy’s situation drew me in quickly I do think that if you haven’t read the first story, A Good Duke is Hard to Find, you will not feel the least bit lost. There are enough background and appearances by other characters to give you a very good idea of what has gone before. I will always believe in reading from first to last stories in a series, if at all possible, this time it’s possible to just jump in and enjoy.
Both Clara and Quincy had a major trauma in their young teen years, both have dealt with those events in their own unique ways. Quincy by leaving home and traveling the world, being gone for long enough to not know that he is the surviving son and the new Duke. Clara by believing she was unworthy of marriage and seemingly contently set herself out to be the caregiver to her family. Now, they are about to be drawn together in a fake relationship to stop Quincy’s nasty mother from insisting he marry the woman his deceased brother was about to bring into the family. No, not going to happen. Soon a friendship will turn into a pretend romance… and soon that pretend will turn all too real.
I enjoyed this couple’s story, wished for more to happen to an evil woman, and had a good time seeing how the story is moving forward for other characters. There were moments where I’d wished to see more action and not merely being told what was happening – but aside from those few moments, Quincy and Clara entertained, delighted, and kept me interested throughout their story.

Right now in the current real world, it was such an enticing relief to take a trip to Mongolia, an exotic (and unexplored for me) part of the world for a romance that is full of laughter, tensions, and perhaps eventually compromise and a happy ever after for Ben and Qara in Love on the Winter Steppes. The vivid scenery descriptions, the unusual foods, just the feel of a country that isn't often seen as a romance backdrop were as important as the opposites attract feel going on between this couple.
Qara is a workaholic, there is no doubt about that. Even on vacation, she cannot leave a ring tone unanswered. Ben is the opposite, a writer who is on a deadline for the next book and he's facing writer's block, hoping that the trip to Mongolia will open up his imagination and get the book finished. He didn't expect to meet a woman who would interest and exasperate him at the same time - or to fall in love with Qara and her family.
Love on the Winter Steppes was a fun romance, one that sparked my imagination and kept me focused on the story. I understood both Ben's and Qara's reasons for their lifestyles but really wanted to see Qara lighten up, and even open up to her family about what her job is doing to her. I adored Qara's grandmother, although I have questions as to why some things I expected didn't actually seem to happen. Qara's sister was interesting, and once again there are opposites even within this family. In all, I had a good time here through the laugher, tears, frustration, and eventual happy ending.

The Secret Network begins the multi-author series, Colton 911: Chicago with a story that is full of tensions, danger, and a most intriguing family. Plus, that ending, I never imagined this ending as it did – man, that floored me. Yet, it sets the stage for another Colton series that already has captured my attention, and I’ve only just begun.
January is a workaholic social worker who is devoted to her job or rather the people (children) she can help. She’s planning to head out tomorrow on a long overdue vacation with her sisters when she gets a call from her boss to please make one quick stop – that interruption to her dinner plans is going to change lives.
Sean has a witness to a triple homicide, a five-year-old girl who isn’t speaking or can’t. His frustration level is through the roof at this point. The social worker assigned to the little girl isn’t making any headway and he needs answers – now. When January arrives at the station he’s convinced she’s just another distraction and can’t possibly get any results since neither he nor the other social worker is having any success. Sean would be wrong.
January notices one fact that no one else has so far and that one overlooked piece of information will lead to keeping a little girl safe from the danger that’s looking for her – and bring two unlikely people together for far more than this case.
I was easily and quickly drawn in to the world that The Secret Network is building. Without saying too much, little Maya is precious, adorable, and will wind these two adults around her little finger so fast they won’t know what hit them. Sean is not only dealing with the homicide of the moment but with other unresolved issues from his recent past. He’s buried himself in work yet these two ladies, both beautiful and unique in their own ways soon have him caring more than he ever intended. January is a strong, at times stubborn woman who allows a sweet little girl and a handsome detective into her heart and will face any danger to keep them all safe.
The story is emotional, fast-paced, sadness, laughter, and annoyance will find their way into your reading time as Sean and January solve the puzzle that is little Maya. I wasn’t expecting the very end… I just wasn’t, but now I’m totally hooked on finding out what in the world is going on!

…and in reality, I’d really like to say “That’s it, that’s the review. Nothing more neReviewed at Keeper Bookshelf
What a diabolically delicious debut!
…and in reality, I’d really like to say “That’s it, that’s the review. Nothing more needs to be said.” But, I suspect you’d like a bit more than that. No plot giveaways here, though. Not a one, you really need to fall into this story and follow it from beginning to ending yourself.
The only really likable character in this book (for me) was Ginny, the police investigator. So why rave about a bunch of unlikeable characters? Simple. They fit perfectly into this little world, their lack of anything I could, often on closer inspection, find redeeming or “likable” is part of the draw to Pretty Little Wife. So many secrets to be discovered throughout this story – many I didn’t see coming in any way, shape, or form. That’s what a really good Thriller / Mystery novel should deliver, in my opinion.
There are other storylines to discover as we puzzle over exactly what did happen to Aaron (or, at least, to his body). And some may not seem all that important, but don’t let your guard down, you will never really know where some lead until the very ending of this one.
All you’d really need to know before picking up Pretty Little Wife can be found in the cover description blurb. If that last line isn’t enough to grab your attention then I don’t know what would.
The only thing plotwise that I’m willing to say is… I did not see that coming. At all. Oh, I had my guesses, my armchair detective hat firmly on but I didn’t see that.
I was engaged from the start, followed all the various twists and turns wondering where we were headed, and made some fascinating discoveries along the way. If you enjoy a really good Thriller / Mystery where you really do need to think about what you’re being told and wonder “what next” throughout the building tensions, then Pretty Little Wife is a perfect novel to start 2021 with.

I’ve enjoyed The Millers of Morgan Valley series, I do love a series that continues through spin-off characters, I freely Reviewed at Keeper Bookshelf
I’ve enjoyed The Millers of Morgan Valley series, I do love a series that continues through spin-off characters, I freely admit that. The Rancher Meets His Match is the fourth title, Kaiden and Julia’s romance, and I’m frankly torn on this one.
I loved Kaiden, he’s the son who works with Dad, he’s an accomplished carpenter as well as working the ranch. Many consider him the jokester of the family as he often covers other emotions with laughter, pranks, and jokes. There are layers to Kaiden, and he rarely allows anyone to see them all.
Julia has moved beyond her hometown. She’s a lawyer who has recently been overlooked for a promotion. As her father’s MS is affecting him badly right now, Julia has returned home to care for him and to put some space between her and that job which no longer seems so great. The last person she expected to encounter was Kaiden, who back in high school laughed off her interest in him (according to her brother, Kaiden’s friend) and said some very mean things about her. She’s got a long memory but this Kaiden is doing everything he can to help her father so perhaps the past should stay in the past.
Everything is there for a sizzling second chance romance. But I simply couldn’t feel it this time. Friends with benefits, yeah. But two people who love each other and won’t compromise a way to be together don’t really deeply, life long commitment love each other, in my opinion. Misunderstandings, lack of communication brought them both so much hurt and pain. And it’s an argument that is timeless, “If only they had talked and really listened one sentence would have saved so much heartache.” I know that’s not how the story goes, but it certainly was very strong in my mind throughout The Rancher Meets His Match.
So, yeah, I’m torn. I enjoyed so much of this story yet kept being pulled out of that same story by small things that added up. It’s a good story, don’t misunderstand me – but I didn’t fall in love with Julia and Kaiden, and I really wanted to.

I’ve had such an enjoyable time with the Bow Street Bachelors series. And finally, it’s Sebastien’s time for romance in The Princess and The Rogue – even though he would stubbornly deny the existence nor the need for love in his life.
Ana is a princess on the run from a forced marriage proposal by a dastardly villain who is suspected of spying against her homeland, Russia. She has fled to London where she is hiding in plain sight as the companion to a lovely older woman – and a teacher of sorts to the ladies of a brothel, helping them to learn to read in order to provide a different life for themselves should they choose. It’s the brothel part of her hidden identity that will bring Ana into contact with Seb and does he ever get the facts wrong from the start.
Ana’s past is about to catch up with her and the safest place to be is, well, in the gaming hell owned by Seb and his friends. As Ana and Seb plot to catch a spy the sizzling attraction spark that first ignited between them steadily grows into something far more than attraction or lust. Seb is still wrapping his mind around the fact that he can in fact love someone – and watching that realization overcome this stubborn man was a fun experience.
The Princess and The Rogue is a fast-paced, funny, sultry, purely enjoyable romance which (I believe) wraps up the Bow Street Bachelors series. I had fun with Seb and Ana as they go after a spy and fall in love along the way. If you love a good, engaging Historical Romance then you’ll want to pick up this story and this series.

There are stories that simply break my heart as I get caught up in the character’s lives, their pasts, their pain, and their deeply held heartache. It’s impossible to not feel what they’ve experienced in life and hope for a better future for them. This was my reaction to Hannah and Boone. My word. What these two people have gone through would break most people into tiny pieces – that they are individually still standing is a miracle in itself.
I’ve loved exploring the Eternity Springs world over the years, I fell in love with The McBrides of Texas trilogy told within this world. Yet Boone touched my emotions deeply and makes putting words here in a review that won’t tell you the entire story (which I will not do) is going to be difficult. I want to talk about Hannah and Boone’s journey from desperation, merely existing to a full life where falling in love and hope for the future is a very real possibility.
I think, in the end, I’m merely going to refer you back to the Cover Description Blurb for the basics – and tell you that Boone is a story full of reality, harsh reality at times, for many people. Watching Boone and Hannah heal each other, heal themselves as well, was a powerfully emotional experience. I laughed with this couple, and shed tears of loss, pain, and not understanding the why of their situations as well. They are supported by an amazing secondary character cast, many we’ve come to know and love over this long series. I don’t think you can walk away from Boone without crying at some point, I could be wrong but this is a story where tears are necessary for the characters and the reader as well – for tears release sadness, but they also help heal the pain.

Secret Nights with a Cowboy begins the Kittredge Ranch series which is set in the same world as the Cold River Ranch series – in fact, we’ll likely see some familiar faces (if you’ve read the previous series).
Rae and Riley are true soulmates, they’ve been friends forever, married young yet both are stubborn, their physical relationship volatile, and the secrets they’re keeping (or simply things they didn’t know about each other’s dreams, wants, desires for the future) were enough to break them. But not the love, or the physical need for each other. So while their families and the townsfolk tiptoe around their relationship (or lack of one) Riley and Rae would often meet at their ranch, an argument would begin that always lead to explosive sexual encounters.
I liked Rae and Riley but they both had some major growing up to do. Secrets will destroy any relationship and when Rae would not tell Riley why she left him (like he’s a mind reader or something and should have just known) that was the point when Rae lost my empathy. I enjoyed watching them try to work out their differences, but it was a rocky road full of potholes to finally get to their happy ever after.
As always in this world, it is the secondary characters, the known returning characters that bring Cold River/Kittredge Ranch alive for me. Family is often a blessing and a curse, which is obvious for Riley and Rae as they get unwanted opinions about every aspect of their lives – together or apart. I need more from these unique, lively families so I’ll be watching for the next story in this series like a hawk.

Once Upon A Winter Wedding, the second story in the Holly, Idaho series brings us a couple who will delight and confound us often in the same breath. I enjoyed Brant and Stevie’s sort of enemies to lovers romance and the chance to visit Holly once again as well.
Back in their high school days, Stevie was trying to help her friend, Kara (Brant’s sister). Her help was well-intended yet Brant blamed Stevie for things that truly were not her fault… but brothers will be brothers and those bad feelings held between them for years.
Now Kara is asking both Stevie and Brant to plan out her wedding since she is stationed overseas and cannot personally do this because she wants it held at the family tree farm. A place that Brant is desperately trying to save. Two people have to set aside their own personal feelings in order to help a friend and sister, but can they do that and not let a different set of emotions get in the way as the past fades and the present looks very good on each of them.
Brant and Stevie are such opposites and for good reasons that make sense, yet watching them slowly change their mindsets was an enjoyable experience. Once Upon A Winter Wedding is full of chuckles, a bit of angst, lively secondary characters, hints of what is to come in the series, and two people who given their history should never have worked as a couple… but love often sees with different eyes. I had fun with this couple and will be keeping an eye out for the next story in the Holly, Idaho series.

Texas Christmas Baby is the second story in the Corbyn Sisters of Last Stand – but we’re going to run into several familiar faces from this small Texas town (and the series that take place here). This is one of the many reasons that I adore Last Stand (or Marietta), because we never truly lose track of old book friends, just like small towns you’ll never know when they’ll pop up again.
Zara and J.T.’s story has layers to it, enjoyable layers but they still exist. Zara has learned that the father of her unborn child has told a bushel full of lies, and for that reason, she’s now stranded outside of Last Stand, Texas where she’s hoping to begin a new life with her best friend near. The last thing she expected was the handsome stranger who came to her rescue – or the considerable part he’d play in her future. If only our heroes didn’t come with feet of clay, it’s almost as if they were human or something prone to bad choices made for the right reasons.
Texas Christmas Baby is full of emotions, laughter, some angst, some poor choices – but at the heart, this is a story of second chances, of taking risks, and letting the past go and stay where it belongs, behind us. I had such a good time with J.T. and Zara (and the Last Stand gang). A smooth story, a likable couple, and a chance for a happy future if only they are willing to take a risk in trusting again… what’s not to love about that kind of romance?

There are times when a story will simply break my heart. A Convenient Christmas Proposal is one of those times. In the second story in The Shannon Sisters series, Kelly and Mick will face a difficult, emotional situation from different points of view but at the core, their hearts are always with two little innocent children who need the love and guidance of two caring adults to put them first in all things.
Although Kelly was not at fault in any sense of the word for the fatal DUI accident that took the life of Mick’s brother and left behind a destroyed woman and two sweet children, she still carries some guilt for not being able to, in her mind, do enough to prevent what happened. She’s a firm believer in trusting the system to do right, unfortunately, Mick doesn’t and has the personal experience to back that impression up.
A Convenient Christmas Proposal combines the aftermath of grief with the hope held tight for a better future. I wish I could have had more empathy for Mick’s sister-in-law but her problems didn’t just begin with her husband’s death, they’d been there all along perhaps not so ‘in your face’, but there. Amanda and Billy were so sweet, and so in need of their uncle’s care right now for their mother was actually putting them in danger. When Mick convinces Kelly to help him with the children everything will begin to change – but will it be enough for a happy ending for everyone?
An emotional romance, A Convenient Christmas Proposal is a slow burn for Mick and Kelly and brings several people together at just the right moment in their lives. There were tears, but there was also laughter, healing, acceptance, and a chance at love to last a lifetime. I was easily caught up in this story and loved every moment spent with these characters… even the sad ones.

I always enjoy returning to Evergreen, Vermont each year. This year we’ll discover how two strangers on a train can connect yet still be wary of each other’s intentions as we watch the magic of one Christmas loving town show them the true reasons of this holiday season – love.
Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy is a fun, charming story of Ben, a resident of Evergreen, and Katie, a struggling author who must write about this small town full to the brim with Christmas spirit. Katie doesn’t buy into the hype about this place, there is no town that could possibly be so over the top for Christmas unless there’s an underlying ploy. Ben has left the chaos of the big city behind and now calls Evergreen home. He recognizes Katie’s skepticism and will do everything within his power to show her the err in her thinking… and perhaps convince her to stay right here – with him for the rest of their lives.
Add in a time capsule, a bit of a mystery, the shenanigans of the townsfolk, and tons of Christmas cheer and you’ll discover a Christmas Romance that will capture your heart, your imagination, and leave you smiling at the final page. I had a blast with Tidings of Joy – and if you love a good Christmas love story then you’ll find it right here.

I have been caught up in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series from the beginning, and even now, eleven titles plus novellas later it’s a series that captures my imagination with intriguing plots and interesting characters – some new, some known, and often complete surprises along the way. I’ve yet to feel like any of these stories have gotten old and that’s a definite compliment to the author’s talent.
Wolf Untamed brings us a teenager who is discovering his werewolf, an ongoing investigation that continues to bring danger and intrigue to the team, and a romance that will challenge Diego and Bree, but not breaking them in spite of trying extra hard it seems. Brandon, Bree’s son, is a newly turned werewolf and Diego will be drawn to not only help the young man but believes that Bree is his “The One”. Now to get Bree to understand what is happening to her son, keep them both safe, and figure out what is causing ordinary citizens to suddenly turn into robbers – and convince Bree that what they’re feeling is right for them. One controlling ex will make life even more difficult as these three begin the process of forming a relationship that will last a lifetime.
I was easily drawn in and held within Wolf Untamed. The suspense is tense, the action is fast-paced, the evil vile, and the SWAT members – well, their usual selves. The suspenseful part you should discover on your own, but this one kept me guessing until the end – and smiling at the team’s antics as well. This is a family of sorts, and we never forget that along the way. I had fun, as always, and if you love a good Paranormal Romantic Suspense then this series would be perfect for you.

I had fun while reading No Room at the Little Cornish Inn. There were some issues, yet none were strong enough to take anything away from the sweet, and charming scenery or the story unfolding.
Rosie has a Scrooge of a boss who sends her on a secret shopper mission to a small inn that is experiencing problems. It’s a go or you’ll lose your job type of situation so, unfortunately, Rosie’s plans with her son for a fun Christmas with family are in the trash bin. To make matters worse, upon arrival she’ll discover that she’s been double-booked and there truly is no room available for her and Danny. Add a grumbly, nearly rude manager and her day is complete – completely ruined that is. Now, somehow, Rosie has to do her job under difficult circumstances, save the Christmas celebration with her son – oh, and not fall head over heels for one grumpy man who makes a solid connection with her son.
There is an underlying mystery going on, as well as interesting characters, some developments that upset all the good that’s been happening between Rosie and Mitchell, and some unexpected surprises for Rosie along the way. It’s a fun Christmas romance with a touch of Scrooge-like actions. I enjoyed myself here, and as I mentioned, the parts that were rough (for me) didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of Mitchell’s, Rosie’s, and Danny’s story.

What an emotional journey The Christmas Table turned out to be for me.
Told in two different timeframes, by two different women facing far different lives – still, the connections they will share through the recipes discovered in the drawer of a refurbished kitchen table will pierce your heart one moment and bring a smile the very next.
Since the Cover Description Blurb already tells you much of this story I don’t really want to go into any more details. I’m simply going to say that although I’ve read and enjoyed other books in the Christmas Hope series, this one will stay with me long, long after I closed that final page. Joan and Lauren became very alive, flesh women to me as I got lost in their story. They and their emotions, their difficulties, and their joys mattered – and I enjoyed every moment spent with them. Vague? Yes, but you should discover the details first-hand.
I enjoyed The Christmas Table immensely and will be re-reading it again in my yearly Christmas stories collection re-read marathon.

This Cowboy of Mine is the second title in the Wranglers of Wyoming series and brings us Casey and Kirby’s story – one full of suspense, discovery, and of course, that happy ending we all crave.
I fell in love with the large, rambunctious Merrick family at the start of this series, and my enjoyment of their close bonds and general shenanigans continue. This time around we get up close and personal with Casey who not only tends to the ranch but is a veterinarian as well. He’s taken a break from the ranch to head to the quiet solitude of the high country, and while roaming the hillsides comes across a badly injured horse who he cannot leave behind. A snowstorm is heading in so Casey takes shelter in a nearby cave until the storm passes… but this injured horse soon won’t be his only company.
Kirby has left behind the madness of Washington, D.C. in exchange for the hard work and beauty of her deceased uncle’s ranch in Wyoming. She’s figuring out a way to buy the ranch from her cousin but for now, her day job will have to do. She’s out counting wild horses when she gets a message from her boss to head back with caution – there is an escaped convict in the area. As she’s heading back she injures her ankle and has to take shelter… in a cave already occupied, but by who is the question. Well, the long end of a rifle should answer that question.
I was easily caught up in This Cowboy of Mine. I enjoyed Kirby’s and Casey’s romance, loved getting involved with the Merrick family once again, had a bit of excitement as the bad guy is brought down… and loved watching two people who are exactly right for each other fall in love and find a way to make it all work for them.

Don’t Look Back is the third title in the Texas Justice series dealing with members of a Cold Case department cracking an old case and eventually finding their happy romantic ending as well. I have not read the earlier books in the series, however, that did not prevent me from enjoying Brie and Connor’s story.
Brie is an FBI agent working undercover to learn more about her half-sister’s murder. Connor is a cold case detective who will find himself not only protecting Brie (or trying to) but getting involved in this particular cold case while falling in love with one strong, stubborn woman.
Connor suffers from some significant emotional, mental issues from his past including a huge guilt complex. He’s held people off from getting too close, his communication skills really need some work, and he shouldn’t want to bring Brie into his life – but all that will change if he can find the words to explain himself and situations to Brie. That isn’t as easy as it sounds for Connor has difficulty expressing himself to others, especially someone as special to him as Brie is.
The action is intense and gritty. There may be triggers within Don’t Look Back for there is human trafficking, drugs, rape, and the violence that comes with that and more. I felt what was shown was necessary to the story, others may think otherwise.
I enjoyed Don’t Look Back. The story is good, smooth, the characters (good and bad) are interesting, and the puzzles to figure out are not too hard but intense enough to hold my attention.

When you can take me back to the Rock Chick and Dream Man worlds – and give me another series full of even more! Well. You had me at Kristen Ashley.
I am loving the Dream Team series, getting the chance to get caught up and run into so many of my favorites from Rock Chick and Dream Man. I am in happy reader overload.
Ryn and Boone make a deliciously sexy… and totally stubborn couple, each for different reasons. They aren’t perfect by any means, they each have their issues to face themselves and together – but they are perfect for each other long-term if they can stop being bull-headed about the attraction between them that is very real, and very intense.
It would be so easy to just tell you all about Dream Chaser. So easy. But I will not ruin this delectable story for you. If you’ve read anything by Kristen Ashley then you already have an idea of what is in store for you here – hot, sexy, intense leads who are often funny, grumpy, and totally devoted to the ones they love… it really is that simple. Toss in some laughter, some sexy times, a few old friends, maybe some new ones, definitely some bad guys, along with some intense action scenes and you’ll feel right at home in this world once again.
I loved Boone and Ryn individually and together as a couple. They work and that comes across to the reader. If you love a really good Romantic Suspense, tense moments, sinfully sexy relationships, and a couple who will draw you in as they tell you their story — then Dream Chaser is perfect for you.
There is a reason that I re-read Rock Chicks, Dream Men, and now Dream Team at least twice a year… this world is just that good. Indulge yourself and Enjoy.
I also purchased a copy of Dream Chaser for my personal collection.

Welcome to the beginning of a new series (well, a connecting series, too) and a brand new Romance genre, Paranormal Chick Lit. Come on, how cool is that? We Paranormal lovers now also have our own unique Paranormal Rom-Com/Chick Lit… I love it!
Fangs and Familiars is a quick story, an introduction to the three main female characters and one magical cat (or maniacal, not sure just yet). And if you loved the “Forbidden” series then we’re going back with a few additions of characters and such… but Forbidden always is and always will be… let’s just say unique.
Now, saying much more will give away stuff I shouldn’t be saying because it really is a short, intro to the coming series. I had a blast, liked the main ladies, loathed the bad guys and I’m definitely intrigued as to what will happen next. We don’t have to wait long because Billionaires and Bodybags is already out, and I’ll be diving into that soon.
If you love Paranormal, laughing at antics, a touch of romance, a touch of magic then you’ll want to check out not only Fangs and Familiars but this newish genre as well.

Down the Hatch begins the Witches Be Crazy series with a fun, intriguing Cozy Mystery of the Paranormal Kind… and a puzzle to figure out before more people end up dead.
Helga owns an antique shop – along with the three ghosts who share the space with her, one, in particular, has been searching for a beloved necklace for decades and is quite vocal in her distress at not finding it. Roxanne is a wailing ghost that we’ll get to know very well.
The town drunk and notorious flirt (although a married man) has gotten on Helga’s last nerve so she kicked him out of the antique shop. Little did she know that soon she will see Thomas again – hidden behind a dumpster, an arrow through his heart. Somehow, as the person who found the body in this small magical town that makes Helga the main suspect in almost everyone’s eyes. But now Helga has not only her innocence to prove but a murderer to find… and the clues are few and far in between. Time for this witch to solve a puzzle that will have twists, a few red herrings, and an interesting conclusion – all in good time.
I enjoyed Down the Hatch. Although the actual killer was among my suspects they weren’t a strong one… just shows how bad I’d be at detective work. Good thing I read any Cozy Mystery to discover the how and why of the story and not necessarily the who did it part.
If you love solving puzzles, a touch of magic, and a really good Paranormal Cozy Mystery then you’ll want to get started on this series soon. I’ll be binge-reading the series since many of the titles are already out now.

Shawn is the fifth title in the Shifter Season series, a spin-off of the Return to Bear Creek and Seasoned Silverback Shifters series. If you’ve followed the other series then Shawn is a familiar face along with his adopted daughter, Jane.
Shawn has pretty much settled into a ‘never going to meet my mate’ mindset, but he has his daughter and is quite content if not complete without his mate. Fate is a funny thing though, just when he thought he’d never find her Joanna appeared at a friend’s outdoor gathering and nothing would be the same again.
I love when Fiona makes an appearance in any of these stories. She is one feisty, fierce, ancient dragon shifter who takes no crap from anyone… but has a soft spot that is well hidden from most of the world. It was Fiona who brought Jane to Shawn years ago, who helped with the adoption – and has held some information back from Shawn, but now he needs to know that perhaps Jane is in danger from her biological mother’s past.
It just so happens that the danger to Jane, one woman’s awakening from a long, long coma, and Joanna’s past are merging. Now it’s time to take down one crafty, no-good man who won’t hesitate at murder to cover his crimes.
I enjoyed Shawn so much. He’s waited so long for his mate and Joanna is perfect for him. As always, Fiona adds some spice, some flames, and is totally, completely Fiona. She never changes and I adore that ancient dragon shifter. The action is fast-paced, the loving real, and the chuckles frequent. If you’ve enjoyed anything to do with Bear Bluff or Bear Creek then you’ll want to know Shawn’s complete story.

When an author cannot remember if her MC Hero is a bear shifter or a wolf shifter – that’s a problem for me. That simple mistake (that could have been corrected in the proofing stage) took me out of Firefighter Shifter’s Second Chance and kept me out to the point that I wasn’t enjoying anything about this story.
There are mixed reviews on Goodreads and Amazon, pretty much divided with that switching between species being mentioned.
At this point on my TBR pile, if I’m not enjoying the experience then I’m moving on – you’ll need to make up your own mind, but for me, this was a DNF.

Reindeer Runes continues the fun and the chaos at the North Pole with a story that will often create even more questions before the answers can be found – and Christmas saved this year.
While Lumi would much rather just tend to the reindeer at her family’s reindeer sanctuary outside of Holiday Haven, her mother would much rather play matchmaker at every tiny opportunity.
On a quick trip to town on a so-called errand for her mother (remember, she’s a matchmaker) Lumi witnesses a strange occurrence with the Royal guard at Jack Frost’s home. And reindeer tracks where they shouldn’t be… Rudolph’s tracks in fact. Soon Lumi and Corbin, Jack’s brother, are on the search for two missing, possibly kidnapped residents of the North Pole. (and how Lumi’s mother’s eyes light up at the prospect of Lumi and Corbin together – told ya, she’s a matchmaker *grin*)
Reindeer Runes is a quick, fun Christmas Paranormal Cozy Mystery that entertains, gives more than a few chuckles, and perhaps will lead to a romance one day. I definitely had a suspect but got a few additional surprises as well. I had fun and completely enjoyed the Christmas magic of this tiny town where everyone celebrates the holiday year-round.
All They Want for Christmas is a realistic, emotional romance, perhaps a second chance to get love right for Bridget and Jack. But it’s not going to be an easy journey for either. Once Jack and Bridget were in love, newly engaged. She was convinced by her beloved Aunt Penny to not make the engagement known just yet, so Bridget kept her happiness and her dreams to herself. Perhaps it was for the best, after all when Jack decided to stay overseas with a charity. Neither asked to go through this new adventure together, even though, if asked, they would have. So, Bridget has been nursing a broken spirit and heart for years now. Oh, she won’t admit that but it’s there in her decisions, her choices.
Now Jack has returned, along with his two adopted young daughters. Life moves on. Aunt Penny has passed away leaving her home, her restaurant to both Bridget and Jack… Jack who it turns out is actually Penny’s son. And the complications continue. Penny had made some bad financial decisions this past year leaving both Bridget and Jack scrambling to correct her actions. All the while trying to help two little girls adjust to a new country, a new family, and the realization that they never need to go hungry ever again… which will not be easy. To say their lives are too complicated for romance right now would be an understatement… but the heart rarely listens, does it?
All They Want for Christmas is a story that will leave behind an impression, laughter, hurt, tears, joy, and satisfaction. I enjoyed Jack and Bridget’s romance, adored two little girls, and liked getting to know Bridget’s sisters. The lesson of forgiveness is clear, and the way everyone came together to save Penny’s restaurant was emotional. I had a good time here, and that’s the point.

Montana Wedding is the fifth and final story in The Blackwell Sisters multi-author series, and it brings everything, and everyone, nicely together for a fun romance and a wrap-up of the series that fills in all the open spaces bringing closure to the thread woven throughout all of the sisters’ happy endings.
Georgie is perhaps the most single-minded, tunnel-visioned of all the sisters. She sees a goal and she heads for it, nothing and no one gets in her way of achieving that goal. She’s driven yes, but by the wrong thing as we’ll come to realize in her story eventually. I liked Georgie while acknowledging that she could frustrate a statue at times. And Zach is certainly no statue, that’s a fact.
With her sister’s wedding looming ahead of her, and a decided lack of boyfriend in her life, Georgie got a work colleague to do a bit of stealth work for and with her. All he had to do was be at her side, go to the wedding functions, oh, and help convince her family that her move to London and a new research lab job was a good idea. He had one job, one… except he didn’t show up on the plane and wouldn’t answer her texts. Somehow the handsome cowboy sitting in the window seat managed to talk her down from the panic and maybe set a new plan in motion if he would agree.
Zach had one goal. He had to get to Ethan Blackwell at the Blackwell Ranch and convince him to take on his beloved horse, Rain Dancer, as a patient. Ethan was their final hope and he could not fail (for more than the obvious reasons). When the pretty lady in the aisle seat went ballistic over a no-show colleague, and as he learned a bit more of where she was headed agreeing to her “pretend” relationship idea would work for them both. No emotions to get involved just each getting what they wanted – if only it had stayed that way.
Montana Wedding brings all of the couples of this series, and some from the previous series, Return of the Blackwell Brothers, together giving each a bit of page time, some more than others – and I loved seeing how those earlier couples were facing the next challenges in their lives. Zach and Georgie often made me smile, and just as often had me wanting to either smack them both upside the head Gibbs style or sitting them down for a stern talking to. Stubborn, bull-headed, and not able to see or acknowledge what was right in front of them all the time – they worked so well as a couple but spent more time denying that fact than anything else.
I’ve enjoyed this series, laughed, cried, got mad, and had a good time with new and old book friends. Hopefully, Big E will find more relatives so we can get another taste of the Blackwell family and this combination of authors once again. If you love a really good series full of interesting couples facing a variety of challenges on the way to finding true love, then this series would be perfect for you.

I had such fun with In A Holidaze. I believe this is my first time reading Christina Lauren’s work so I’ll need to go check out her backlist because this was exactly the book I needed to get me out of the gloom, doom, and overall down trip that 2020 has been so far.
This is also a story that I really cannot say too much about as that would definitely give away spoilers that you should experience, and laugh about, first-hand. What I’m comfortable saying is that Mae has embarked on the annual Christmas trip to a cabin of family friends in Utah. She and family have been going here for years, and even though some things within her family have changed, some remain the same… and that is the joy she always feels when arriving at this cabin and the very long time crush she’s had on one man and never done a thing about. It remains her well-kept secret (for now anyway).
As Mae is leaving the cabin for the last time (her family’s friends are selling it) she makes one wish… one simple, heartfelt wish that will result in a wild, emotional, funny, tear provoking (from sad and happy moments) set of events that will eventually change Mae’s world. Once she steps out of the movie “Groundhog Day” that is. Yes, Mae is destined to restart her holiday trip over and over until she gets her life in order… and the result of all of her adventures is simply hilarious and emotional.
If you need to laugh and have your heart swell with emotions… then you need In A Holidaze in your life, right now.

Christmas at Willoughby Close brings us a charming Christmas story with a couple in their 40s, each convinced that love isn’t in the cards for them, and each surprised when together they discover that love comes when it’s right… and now, and each other is that time. Although Roger and Lindy’s romance is the third title in the Return to Willoughby Close series it’s not absolutely necessary to have read the previous stories. I would gently suggest that if you haven’t read them that you give them a try for they are all enjoyable, realistic love stories that will warm your heart and give a chuckle or tear along the way.
Lindy has moved to this small village to open a ballroom dance studio, it’s a dream and one that she’s at the point in life to actually give it all she has to give. Roger is an accountant, a quiet, shy man who is willing to attend ballroom dance lessons with his mother as she faces cancer. He’d do anything to bring a smile to her face, including making a fool of himself on the dance floor. Neither Lindy nor Roger expected to find romance while on the dance floor, but slowly, surely those emotions surfaced and showed them each something… they are worth all the happiness and love possible if only they take that risk.
I enjoyed Christmas at Willoughby Close. Roger and Lindy make a unique couple, one that I completely enjoyed getting to know and watch their journey into love and life together. As always this village shines as a character all its own, and we’ll meet up with a few old friends as well. If you enjoy a good romance with likable characters, a charming setting, and a couple who is no longer in the first bloom of youth – then you’ll want to pick this one up soon.

Although Candy Slain Murder was my first time in the Country Story Mystery series, I will most definitely be going back for the earlier stories for this is a charming, engaging story with a down-home appeal… and some intriguing mysteries to try to solve. Since I’m beginning the series here there were, of course, nuances and relationships that I had to figure out along the way. What was absolutely necessary for me to understand in this story was described in dialogue or the narrative. But that did not take away from a really good mystery and the engaging characters I met here.
One skeleton discovered within a burned-out home brings suspicions upon a local anesthesiologist who already had people talking about him will provide lots of digging to get to the bottom of who really is the murderer. And a long-lost (so-called) relative will spin a few yarns, upset a few people, and add a second mystery to challenge Robbie. Since I do not read Cozy Mysteries to sharpen my detective skills but for the story of why and how the crime happened – it was fascinating to watch Robbie sort through the clues and come up with answers. I had my suspect for one, and my suspicions about the second – but you’ll enjoy it all so much more if I don’t give away spoilers.
In all, I had fun with Candy Slain Murder. It’s an engaging story that kept me turning pages, puzzling out clues, and enjoying getting to know the main (and secondary characters) that make up this world. If you love a good puzzle, and Cozy Mysteries are your delight any time of the year, then you’d enjoy this one.

The Brightest Star mixes today’s shopping/selling technology with those small independent shops that, for one reason or another, have not hopped onto the online purchase bandwagon and are paying the price for that decision in lowered sales and an uncertain business future.
Lauren writes biographies, and she’s quite good at it. She’s been offered the chance to write a very famous businessman’s story, yet that man and his online shopping dynasty are the very reason she left Florida to return home to help her parents in their small specialty shop when her father became unable to run the shop. It’s hard to turn down the offer for several reasons, yet Lauren eventually goes to the meeting and discovers that love strikes unexpectedly when she meets the man’s son, and an almost instant attraction sparks between them.
The Brightest Star is a good book. There were parts where I had some serious (for me) issues – yet to go into those issues would definitely involve spoilers so I’m simply going to leave it alone. It’s one of those times when I enjoyed most of a story but those sticky issues often took me so far out of the story that it became annoying. Yet what one person simply likes another person would love, so the final decision should be up to you. I’ve read Fern Michaels’ work for years, so I’ll look forward to the next book.
