Sarah J Maas managed to craft another intricate novel in this world, one that I know many won’t forget anytime soon. It is raw and deep, as I expected when it came to Nesta, and I’m glad SJM didn’t shy away from writing all the gritty details to really give us the entire scope of who Nesta truly is. I already sympathized and liked her from ACOFAS, but this book made her shine in so many ways. Honestly, nothing I can say will ever give justice to Nesta’s character. Seeing her development, her strength, but especially her weaknesses, tore my heart apart. I related to Nesta even more with her story, I could feel myself bonding with her pain and struggles, because hers are my own. So, thank you, Sarah J Maas, for giving Nesta her deserved story that many of us only hope to achieve one day.
Another thing SJM managed to do was create a friendship bond, dare I say as strong or more than Rhys, Cassian and Azriel. The female friendship in this group was absolutely breath-taking. All three of them woven together, in past, present, future, in their nightmares, in their hopes to one day be free. SJM gave a strong voice for those who have endured pain at its cruelest, and she did it so eloquently and beautifully, it gripped my heart and gave me hope for my own future.
”Your story is worth telling.”
As for the romance, I don’t know how SJM went there, but she did. I’ll be the first to admit that this book was H-O-T! But let me also be the first to tell you it was way more than that. It was about growing and learning. We always expect a romance to start nice, or at the very least tolerable, maybe some jabs here and there, maybe some hate. But something we fail to recognize is that at the start of each relationship, there are struggles beyond our comprehension, and I’m speaking from experience. My own relationship (currently married) started off on the very wrong foot. We skipped the high of being in love and went straight for the bad. There were times where I thought we couldn’t possibly make it because we had already endured so much. To everyone else, we were on cloud 9, but only we knew the truth.
Seeing Cassian and Nesta dealing with some very human emotions and situations, finally made me feel like my love story—despite everything, it is still a love story—also had a voice. Seeing how they slowly learned to lean on each other, to move forward, but still take 10 steps back, made Nessian’s love story REAL and so very relatable.
I was not expecting the large field of emotions I had while reading this book. My heart couldn’t take everything that was happening towards the end, couldn’t believe how much these characters had grown right before our very eyes, that their selflessness tugged my heartstrings.

Elena threw it completely out of the ballpark with this one! The humor, the perfect enemies -to-lovers and fake-relationship tropes, the fantastic and down-to-earth characters, the Spanish culture... Everything is perfection!
I swore right then and there that one day, I'd find a ladder high enough, climb it, and chuck something really hard at his infuriating face.
My favorite trope will forever be enemies-to-lovers. I'll be honest, I had lost hope in this trope when it came to Rom-Coms. Lately, rom-coms seem to be deemed as "enemies-to-lovers", but by the fourth chapter, they're buddies. Like, what? No! Give me the real trope, please! And guess what? Elena managed to bring back what enemies-to-lovers really is and she nailed it from the very start!
Consider who? Oh, Lucifer's favorite son? I don't see how I should consider him for anything."
Catalina desperately needs a fake-date for her sister's wedding. Problem is, she has no idea where she can find one, because she is so not accepting Aaron Blackford's help, her coworker and nemesis. But you guys know how these things go. She ends up accepting (very reluctantly) and thus begins the adventure!
Hours left to board the flight to wedding-doom: twenty-four. Level of anxiety: reaching emergency status. Contingency plan: triple-chocolate brownie. A truckload of it.
Lina really cannot stand Aaron. Those two are always at each other's necks, banting back and forth, and I was here for it all! When they finally arrive in Spain, they realize they have to share ONE BED! Heck, yeah! I was giddy with a Cheshire cat smile on my face just waiting for all of the deliciousness.
"Always fighting me. Resisting me. It's like you want me to beg. Is that something you'd enjoy? Me begging? Is that what this is? You like bringing me to my knees?"
Normally, slow-burns can be hit or miss for me. By my rating, you guys can infer that this was a win! While it was slow, these characters spend so much together in order to "fool" Lina's family. One of the things I just loved about Aaron was how his eyes would always gravitate towards Lina, and if they were next to each other, he'd somehow, some way, always be touching her. With that, you can already feel the tension they have for each other! Everything starts building up to a wonderful and sexy explosion. *fans face* Aaron needs to come with a warning label because that man will melt even the coldest and emotionless of hearts! He's a grump with a cinnamon roll heart, which is truly the perfect combination!
This romance is everything. You get the laugh-out-loud banter, a slow-burn chemistry with sexual tension that is just on the verge of exploding, and when it does explode, it is hot, beautiful, sensual and intimate!
"I'll give you the world," he said against my mouth. "The moon. The fucking stars. Anything you ask, it's yours. I'm yours."
The author did such a great job at portraying the characters, but also in showing how amazing her writing is. I was blown away by her talent in world-building and describing just the barest of scenes. I don't know how she did it with her words, but she also managed to show intimacy between the characters even when they couldn't stand each other. From the start, you could feel the barest of disguising touches, whether they were literal or metaphorical.
The Spanish Love Deception is a fave of 2021, with its hilarious banter, enemies who fake-date, yet start a delicious slow-burn intimate romance that peeks at its grandest explosion, with a hero who's words and actions will have you begging on your knees for him, a heroine who's humor will have you laughing out loud, and a family that you'll wish were your own.

We have Ava, who has gone through way more than anyone ever should. My heart truly broke for her. Seeing how scared she was of everyone and everything had me feeling sadness and rage over the card life dealt her. Obviously, I couldn’t wait to see her come back stronger than ever.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t a transition from the scared girl she was to the badass woman she became. All of a sudden, she was strong and ready to tackle on the world, and I’m still here trying to process how did that happen. Granted, it was shared later on, but I would have preferred to see her change in action.
The other half of the book had me going crazy! There was so much happening and I was here for it. There wasn’t a dull moment; things kept happening left and right.
And guys, I actually shed a tear. A tear fell down my cheek, okay?! You know how rare this is if you’ve read my reviews for other books. The last few chapters had my heart being squeezed and almost ripped out of my chest.
AND THEN THE ENDING!!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT!!! I cannot wait for the third book to, hopefully, get all the answers!!...more

I wasn’t too impressed with this one. Something that bothered me was how Hades is supposed to be this badass person that everyone fears, but it was mostly told, rather than shown. I feel like MK is more badass, which says a lot since she barely knew how to defend herself.

We have a woman, Jane, wanting to leave her past behind. She ends up getting a job as a dog walker at a very rich neighborhood. She’s always admired this one specific house, wondering who lives there, until one day, the owner of the house almost ran her over. From that point on, her life slowly starts to change.
From the moment Eddie is introduced, I was intrigued. He was...different than anyone in the neighborhood, and there was something underneath that called out to me. His relationship with Jane was one I really liked reading about. Honestly, this book has quite the romance being built up, and obviously, as a romance lover, I was here for it.
But this is a thriller and things can’t be all happy go lucky. As Jane starts to learn more about Eddie and his dead wife, Bea, the more she feels like she’s living in the shadows of Bea. I wish Jane had stayed more true to herself than try to be someone else. In the end, that’s why Eddie liked her.
Without saying too much, I did not expect that ending! I did figure out the reveal, but not the ending! Like, what the heck?!
