DELIVERED WITH A KISS is book four in Marie Harte’s Veteran Movers series. I’ve more or less enjoyed the books in this series, so I was looking forward to reading this one. I had no idea that this book was coming out, so it was a bit of a surprise release. However, I did enjoy Smith and Erin’s story.
I definitely think that you can read this book as a standalone but it does feature past characters who are always welcome in my book. I love the sense of community and family that Harte always brings to her books as well as the dose of humor and sexiness.
As of late, I do feel like the author hasn’t been writing as steamy scenes as some of her previous books, but I still enjoy the alpha heroes and military touches that this book has. It makes the heroes feel a little more larger than life but still also relatable. And Smith was a character that I think a lot of women will really enjoy.
I do believe that this is the last book in the series. It’s sad to see it end, but I do think that Harte did a good job with this Contemporary Romance series. They are my favorite of hers and I hope that she will write more sexy Contemporaries in the future!...more

I always look forward to Lara Adrian’s book and I have found that I really enjoy this series a lot. EDGE OF DARKNESS is book three in the Hunter Legacy series. Normally, I would say it’s better to read this series in order, but actually I think that this book stands alone really well.
For me, I did feel like the beginning was kind of slow. It feel like Knox and Leni had to take it slow because they were strangers in the beginning whereas some of the past couples that Adrian has featured at least knew each other in some way. Therefore, I do think there was a longer distance to cross with this romance in the beginning. However, despite Knox’s Breed status and his alpha attitude, I found him to be really sweet, especially when it came to Leni. His protectiveness made him really attractive and I definitely can find myself getting behind all of Adrian’s heroes.
Leni is a strong figure herself. However, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the secondary storyline regarding the people she knew. It just wasn’t that captivating to me. However, I still managed to get through it because I liked Knox so much. In the end, the pacing did pick up a bit and I found myself breezing through the rest of the book.
So despite the slow start, I do think that this romance burns strongly. Adrian pays attention to the details, making this book really enjoyable because of the fuller storyline. I can’t wait to read the next book!...more

Sylvain Reynard returns with another installment in the Gabriel’s Inferno series. Much like the other books in the series, this book has an elegant approach to it. A lot of the prose feels poetic and I do really like the attention to detail. There are some times when I do think it’s too much and takes over the pacing of the novel, but I do appreciate the author’s effort to keep the concept alive.
In this book, more character develop happens with Gabriel and Julia. There are more moving parts to this book because of the characters and I do felt like it moved at a brisk pace, especially in the beginning. The short chapters makes it easy to consume and I still love the fact that it’s set in my hometown, so I feel an even strong bond to it because of that.
While it may not be my favorite of the series, I do think readers will enjoy the update on the characters as well as the story that Reynard has provided this time around....more

Cherise Sinclair is back with another book in the Sons of the Survivalist series. It features another one of the brothers. It’s Caz’s book and if you’re a fan of Spanish accents, then you’re probably going to love this book.
I really loved the heroine of this book. She was sassy and strong, which is actually what a lot of Sinclair’s heroines are, but it did take me a lot longer to warm up to Caz for some reason. I liked him, but I never really fell for him in the same way I have with some of Sinclair’s other series. Each of the heroes in this series definitely have their own demons to battle and they handle it in different ways. While I do think the romance was well done, I am looking forward to seeing how the next hero will pan out for me.
Nevertheless, I found LETHAL BALANCE to be an enjoyable book. With lots of sexual tension and steamy scenes, this book also captures a lot of family and warm moments as well. I definitely think that Cherise Sinclair has a perfect balance of both....more

DARK ALPHA’S TEMPTATION is book nine in the Reapers series by Donna Grant. As a fan of this world, I do think it’s worth reading the books in order. However, I do find that you can still enjoy the romances well on their own.
This particular features Kyra and Dubhan, which are two characters that I’ve really come to enjoy. I find that Grant’s characters tend to be very consistent so if you like one couple you’re bound to like the others as well. She just writes really admirable characters who are easy to like. Plus, I really like the mysterious backstory that Dubhan and some of the other Reapers have. Her heroes aren’t as alpha as some other PNR books out there, but they are definitely still interesting enough that you want to keep reading.
As always, Grant infuses this romance with several other plots that intertwined with the other books. So if you’re a fan of extensive worldbuilding then you’ll probably enjoy this book. I always find these books such a pleasure to read, so I would highly recommend them if you’re a fan of Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed series. I look forward to reading more books from Grant....more

I was very excited to see that Jennifer Estep was going to write another book in the Mythos Academy series. I have read all the series that Estep has written but I think that this one has to be my favorite. I know, it’s a bit of a shocker, isn’t it? But I just really enjoy the mix of paranormal creatures of this book as well as the humor.
One of my favorite parts of this book is the fact that the series has so many different characters. They’re essentially players and throughout the series and in this book, you get a lot of different fun personalities. In the past, I have felt like Estep’s characters can be a little cold. But with this bunch, I feel a wider range of emotions because of the character’s personalities. I just think that Rory and her friends really fun to read and their banter is what keeps the pages turning.
As expected, this merry crew get into a lot of trouble but it was nice to see the teamwork as well as the twists and turns that Estep puts them through. I found this book very easy to read so I was able to finish it quickly. I am hoping that Estep incorporates a similar camaraderie with her future characters and series because they just feel more affable and approachable to me....more

This book is a short story by Josh Lanyon, one of my favorite M/M authors. I found SLAY RIDE to be a fun short story but because of the length, I do think that there’s a lot to be desired. I know a lot of other people I talked to felt that it was too short also and I think that’s because readers just wanted more.
The romance builds fast but in a believable pace and I really like Lanyon’s tone in this story. But for me to truly give a 5-star rating, I would have liked to see more full-length books with this couple....more
I’m going to cut to the chase with this book. First off, I was looking forward to diving back into this world because I really enjoyed the first book of the series. However, I have discovered something about the writing in this book. As a fan of Showalter for many years, I can safely say that I have read quite a bit of her books so I am familiar with her writing style. However, it seems that she is changing up her style quite a lot in this series and to be honest, I’m not really sure how I feel about it.
The narration felt really choppy to me, making it a little difficult to get into. I also found the book to be extremely predictable this time around, which is strange because Showalter usually keeps readers on their toes. But I knew a character was going to die almost immediately after they were introduced, so I don’t know if it was just me or if the book really did feel too foreseeable.
However, I am going to keep trying the other books in the series because I like the premise of the series. It has an Immortals After Dark feel to it, so if you like Kresley Cole’s paranormal writing, then I think you will enjoy this. But the writing style of this book felt more like Cole’s YA series, the Arcana Chronicles, which I actually wasn’t a fan of. So I guess I will have to learn how to deal with the chopping style.
So while this book wasn’t a total hit for me, I am still looking forward to seeing what Gena has in store for her readers next....more

When it comes to sweet and sensual stories, Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully really excel. In CAPTIVATING IN LOVE, the sixth book of the Maverick Billionaire series, Andre and Skully pen a sweet love story for Gideon and Rosie. I found that during a time when my life was hectic and stress, this story really pulled me out of it and allowed me to find something light and positive. I really felt like this book came out at the right time for me, but even then I think it would make for a great read at any time of the year.
The love story really is the core of this story and that’s one of the things I really enjoyed about it. Not only was it done well, but it really simplifies things for readers. While I do like books that have a lot of action and conflict, there’s also something really nice about simpler books. In fact, sometimes I think it’s harder to write these types of books because readers like the flashy and gory stuff but when it comes to romance, all you really need is a hero, a heroine and some amazing chemistry and I think Gideon and Rosie had that.
One of the other things that I like about this series is that it isn’t like your typical billionaire novels. The Mavericks are really nice guys and it definitely shows throughout the series. It’s easy to love them and a lot of the times, I find that I want to end up like them too. It’s nice to see good characters finally getting their happily-ever-afters.
I would highly recommend this series for a refresher anytime you need it. It’s sweet and fun characters will definitely lift your spirits and the love stories will definitely make you fall head over heels for these characters....more

I’m going to cut to the chase with this review. I’ve read quite a lot of Kristan Higgins books both in Romance and Women’s Fiction and for me, I feel like her books are hit and miss for me. I’m always looking for an enjoyable read and although Higgins’ writing style typically stays bright despite some of the darker or taboo topics she may write about, I just found that this book fell flat for me.
Right from the beginning, I started to wonder if this book was going to be for me. The humor is the biggest thing for me because I feel like Higgins has a very different sense of humor to mine. I really can’t relate and find a lot of what her characters say to be weird. I don’t know. I’m not sure if it’s the case of her humor just not meshing well with mine or I just don’t think the jokes are funny. But either way, I didn’t enjoy it.
I also didn’t really like the premise of this book. It just didn’t capture my attention or make me feel anything for the characters. So as a result, I found myself putting this book down several times. It’s a shame because there have been some Romance books of hers that I really loved. But unfortunately, after too many misses in a row, I doubt I will try more of her books in the future....more

One of my favorite Paranormal Romance authors, Bec McMaster, has a brand new series out called Dark Court Rising. It’s a Fantasy Romance series but I do see some Paranormal elements in it as well. Just from the blurb, I was already intrigued by the storyline and so, I slotted some time out in my busy schedule to try and read this book in one sitting.
I have to admit, this was a marvelous decision on my part because I ended up devouring this book so quickly. One of the biggest changes that Bec has made with her writing with this series is that she has some first person narration. Normally, I prefer my Fantasy and Paranormal Romance books to be in third person, but the first person narration just made things a little easier to read and more fast paced. As a result, I do feel like things were kept exciting and moved along well.
Another one of the things that I like about Bec’s writing is that her characters are always so alluring to me. I especially like her heroes because they tend to have a darker feel to them. And with the twists and turns that this book has, it will definitely leave you feeling a little breathless after it all.
If you like Fae and Fantasy then I think you’re really going to like this book. There’s only one other series that I think tackles Fae beautifully and that’s KMM’s Fever series, but this Dark Court Rising series has some potential as well. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what McMaster has up her sleeve!...more

Jennifer Estep is back with another Elemental Assassin book. I wasn’t sure where exactly this series was going because there are so many books already in the series. However Estep seems to have a new idea each time. Despite this book being book eighteen in the series, I do think that it offers something different for readers.
First off, I have to say how I liked how true Gin has continued to be throughout this entire series. While I love seeing character development, Gin has reached a point where I feel like she is steady. So any obstacle or new adventure that comes her way doesn’t seem so dire anymore.
However, that is not to say that this book is lacking in action and suspense. In fact, there are a lot of interesting scenes for readers to devour. I think this book flew by so fast because I’m so used to the writing style now so it’s been a great pleasure to see Gin and the gang back in action....more
