OLD LOYALTY, NEW LOVE puts two of my favorite things together: M/M Romance and shifters. Quade Danas is a jackal shifter and was banished from his pack for being gay. Now older and more experienced, Quade has found his love in Roman Howell, the son of a very rich man and the person who he is supposed to protect. Roman suffered greatly in an accident that physically scarred him. As a result, Roman doesn’t feel confident in himself anymore. However, Quade knows Roman already and their bond that was formed years ago soon turns into something different now as Roman decides that he wants Quade no matter what the cost.
Possibly my favourite thing about this entire book is Roman and the fact that he is just completely in love with Quade. Nothing Quade does to deter him works and it’s both endearing and hilarious. Roman is younger and he sometimes shows it when his high hopes and blinded desires. Even though it can be a vulnerability, I also think it’s one of the best things about his character as well because it just shows the level of depth and emotion he has for Quade. You really get the sense that he will do anything to be with him.
Quade is older and a little more sensible when it comes to circumstances. He doesn’t make rash decisions, but instead thinks them through. He is a thorough man but at the same time, I think he’s a complete fool when he is with Roman. It’s adorable. These two together are a dream. They complement each other so nicely. As they tease, as they fight, it just makes sense, so much so that the highlight of this book became the romance.
The pack politics also plays an important part to this story. If you’re a fan of Belinda McBride and her Arcada series, then I think you’ll also find a lot to love about this book. Quade has been kicked out, but now that there is a new alpha who is engaging in some questionable activities, many people are hoping that someone can step in and right the wrongs. It may be up to Quade to try and addresses these issues, even though he was shunned in the past because of his sexuality.
There’s this one quote that really caused a good laugh on the topic:
“And I’m vegetarian.” he grinned at me. “The shame I bring my parents, never once participating in a hunt. Can you imagine?” I couldn’t stifle my laughter.
Calmes mixes great humor, pack politics and steamy romance all in one enticing package for readers. If you haven’t read Calmes before, trust me when I say that you are missing out on some of the best M/M romance books out there right now. Calmes = autobuy. There is absolutely no hesistation and I know that goes for either her contemporary and paranormal books. Simply put, Mary Calmes is a guaranteed winner.

Some things are forever. It just takes a little while to get there. For Lila and Ethan, their love came on swiftly and unexpectedly but I think as you read their story, readers will just fall absolutely in love with them. Where the last book in this series left off, we are in a relatively good place with this couple. But there are still some loose ends and also some decisions that need to be made.
In this freebie short, Lila and Ethan go on their little adventure, spending time in their car and with wildlife. This close proximity makes Lila realize that she wants something more with Ethan. It isn’t enough to just be with him in the present. She wants the promise of a future. However, Ethan isn’t ready for that jump. He stalls and he creates a lot of doubts in Lila’s mind. But as the story goes on, you see that change in a believable manner.
I will say that this short is hella hot! It’s practically steaming with its sexiness! I have absolutely no complaints about this and actually encourage it in more of Sorensen’s books. She can make it hot while still making sure that there’s a whole lot of heart to go with it. That’s key. That’s what makes her books work so well.
I do have one complaint though: it’s way, way too short. I could probably read about these two forever.
P.S. I absolutely love that the cover shows off Lila’s tattoo.

As you read this serial, were you burning to know more about Roman? Well, Ruthie Knox reveals a little more about the hero in the fourth episode of Roman Holiday and why he is so damned determined to carry out this business plan despite the big obstacle of an Ashley Bowman.
It’s a little sad, really when you discover more about him. As a child, he didn’t really have anyone to lean on. There was no one to tell him he’s done well. So the only way he can really prove his worth is through his work. Despite working with others, he keeps himself in this prison of his own making, never letting anyone penetrate enough to get to know him. His lonely life has lead to a lonely heart and it seems that Ashley is also having a hard time picking through that icy barrier.
If you like a little angst in your Contemporary Romance, well then Knox delivers in this helping. I’m hoping for a HEA for Roman soon! He deserves it!

In the fifth episode to the Roman Holiday serial, Ruthie Knox shows the vulnerable underbelly of her characters. While Ashley can come across as selfish sometimes, we also get deeper insight into her past and discover her feelings of confusion concerning her grandmother. When all that she believed in is veiled in secrets, how will overcome this?
IGNITED is aptly named since in this installment, sparks are firing everywhere. Roman and Ashley finally allow their passions to get the best of them and in a wild, muddy encounter, they find themselves feeling needy and dirty.
After this, Roman confesses about his lapse to Carmen, his girlfriend. Her reaction isn’t what I expected and I don’t really know if I really liked it. It does, however, give better insight into Roman’s character and readers will see a little more of where he is coming from.
In the next instalment, I’m looking for more progression in Ashley and Roman’s relationship. And sex. I’m ready for them to rip up the sheets!

In the first of a brand new series called the Scandalous Highlanders, Suzanne Enoch tempts readers with a grumpy, traditional, take-no-shit Scottish hero. Ranulf MacLawry is the Marquis of Glengask. He is used to getting what he want and others falling into place as he commands. However, his younger sister Winnie just wants to have her Season like any other woman would. Yet Ran is dead-set on keeping Winnie under his watchful eye to keep her out of trouble.
The second that Ran looks away, Winnie flees and resides with Lady Charlotte Hanover. In a fiery rage, Ran peruses his sister with the intention of dragging her back if she doesn’t come willing. When he reaches the British Society that he hates so much, he is faced with a intelligent and equally sharp-tongued beauty that takes him by surprise. After much arguing and some begging on Winnie’s part, Ran allows her to stay for two weeks as long as he stays with her.
It’s a recipe for trouble, but I cannot deny the appeal of the story. Enoch creates this wonderfully multidimensional character in Ranulf. He’s a little untamed, a little barbaric and really, really sexy! I just loved seeing him fall to his knees for a woman like Charlotte!
Their banter is some of my favourites in Historical Romance. If you’re a fan of Lisa Kleypas and Julia Quinn, then I think you’ll find something to like in Enoch’s books as well. There’s great chemistry, witty banter and humor that will have you smiling from ear to ear. But because of the more untamed heroes you’ll find in this series, Enoch has an irresistible combination that will have readers like me coming back for seconds! I cannot wait for the next book, A Rogue with a Brogue because that’s Arran’s book!
In the third episode of Knox’s Roman Holiday serial, readers get a little more sexiness and a lot more fun! Ashley and Roman’s relationship
In the third episode of Knox’s Roman Holiday serial, readers get a little more sexiness and a lot more fun! Ashley and Roman’s relationship is still in the “I really hate you” phase, but also, there’s quite a few sparks in there as well. Just as Roman battles his lust for Ashley, our dear heroine confronts him and tells him that he sucks. It’s really entertaining and really funny to see the hilarious antics pan out between these two.
The secondary characters are fun as well, bringing forth that extra support that Ashley needs to remain sane in Roman’s presence. Though they are probably more bad influences than anything, I don’t doubt how wonderfully fun and eccentric they are and well crucial they are in the enjoyment of this story.
The drum scene is fabulous, reminding me a little of something out of the movie, The Proposal. Knox just really knows how to set the tone and keep it lively until the very end! I’m looking forward to the next installment in the serial, hoping for more laughs along the way!
I’ve been a fan of Jaye Wells’ writing ever since Red-Headed Stepchild came out so I was very excited to hear she was starting a new series.
I’ve been a fan of Jaye Wells’ writing ever since Red-Headed Stepchild came out so I was very excited to hear she was starting a new series. DIRTY MAGIC is the explosive beginning to the Prospero’s War series.
Kate Prospero is my kind of heroine. She is kick ass, lively, determined and a little vulnerable as well. As she tries to make her way up the career ladder as a patrol cop, she shoots a man who just happens to be the lead snitch in the Magic Enforcement Agency. This brings on a lot of trouble and a lot of opportunities, but the questions is, what will Kate do about it?
DIRTY MAGIC turned out to be refreshingly funny and sexy. There were so many lines that had me laughing out loud with Kate’s comebacks. Though the major conflict lies in the fact that she doesn’t want to practice magic anymore, the events she experiences inevitably lead to a hard choice. I love this part of the storyline and felt that it really tested Kate’s character early on. We learn things about her that we normally wouldn’t have and I liked that Wells attacked this early on in the series because it sets a good example of what we can expect from Kate’s character in the future.
I sense a bit of a love triangle between Morales and Volos. Though I am heavily leaning onto one side, I can see the appeal for both characters. One is a cocky cop and the other is an old flame. It makes me eager to read more of Kate’s love life.
Fans of the Downside Ghosts will enjoy this series. As it involves cookers, magic and a world that is so uniquely original, I am sure that this series will be just as successful, or perhaps even more so, than the Sabina Kane series.
DIRTY MAGIC is a flat-out high-octane thrill ride in an alluring world. I can already sense that Kate Prospero will become a highly recognizable name in Urban Fantasy soon.

HITCHED is the second installment in the Contemporary Romance serial by Ruthie Knox called Roman Holiday. If you’ve read the first episode, then you know of Roman and Ashley’s fire and ice personalities – they just don’t go well together. But Knox ignores that and puts them even closer, making this short read so funny and exciting.
One of the best things about this series is the fact that Knox’s personality shines through her in her characters. Despite how much they dislike each other and find one another annoying, there is a spark there that Knox likes to explore in her dialogue.
Readers get a more deeper insight into Roman’s character and we also get a sense of how Ashley sees him. As they try to deal with one another in the best way that they can, a sweet and charming side shows through, though at this point in their relationship, I don’t think either one has seen it yet. I’m looking forward to reading what will happen next for them.
Roman Holiday is one of the few serials that I truly enjoy reading. In this case, the wait is really worth it.
Jimmy Rafferty makes quite the discovery about his old friend, Eddie Molina. He learns that he is gay when he finds him servicing another man. Though this doesn’t necessarily change your friendship right away, it makes Jimmy wonder where he stands in Eddie’s eyes.
As I really enjoyed the first book in this series, I was very excited to be reading this one. However, I found out that this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. Jimmy had a drinking problem and as his best friend, Eddie is trying to help him out of it. It’s sometimes a dark ride and Jimmy can get nasty at times. Actually, let me correct that right here. He can be very nasty and it sometimes made me wonder about his character a little bit. I went back and forth liking and hating his character. As my frustration mounted with him, it also made me closer to Eddie’s character though.
Eddie is battling his feelings for Jimmy. Despite the nasty temper and the deep denial he is in, Eddie is completely in love with Jimmy and Maxfield really explores the depth of those emotions as Eddie tries to handle Jimmy and help him through his detox.
MY HEARTACHE COWBOY has a handful of angst, frustratingly real emotions and also the perfect amount of banter to balance it all out. This book may have not been what I was expecting, but it also nicely displays the tumultuous journey that Jimmy must make to not only find love, but also himself.

If I could marry into a fictional family, it would be The Sullivans. There’s just something about this big family that makes me melt. So loving and protective, you as a reader definitely feel as if you are a part of this family as you read the books in this series. One of my good friends asked me if the series begins to wane after so many books already in the series. But I told her that I am so invested in these characters that by the end of the book I’m reading, I am pining for the next one already. Bella Andre is able to create characters that you genuinely care about, with real flaws, real conflicts and real issues. And as they find their way to love, you feel a genuine sense of passion and rightness as they each get their happily-ever-afters.
In book 11, Andre gives Mia Sullivan her happiness, but it is far from easy! Five years ago, Mia stood in a packed audience, listening to the sultry, seductive words of rockstar Ford Vincent. Even lost in a crowd, Ford’s eyes locked onto hers and since then, he is all that she has ever wanted. A week together set both aflame, but Mia soon finds out that dating a rock star isn’t possible. Women and fame will always be a part of Ford’s life, leaving no room for her.
It has been years since they went separate ways, but Ford still holds a candle to their time together. When he gets the perfect opportunity to see Mia again, Ford grabs it, not willing to lose her a second time. Though the sparks are still evident between them, they are both more mature now. Furthermore, they are two totally different people, so in order to be together, they have to relearn one another. They have to be friends.
I know what you are thinking. That’s impossible. How could anyone believe that they can go from lovers to friends even with the years between them? Bella Andre shows Mia’s toughened side. She isn’t just willing just accept Ford once again in her life. He hurt her in the past. This time, she will be stronger.
But if you know Andre’s heroes, you know that each one of them is injected in charm and determination, leaving women almost halpless in their presence. Mia holds out for awhile, but even a rock can’t keep resisting the likes of Ford Vincent.
Mia and Ford are freaking adorable! I loved how determined Ford remained through the entire book. His love for Mia shines and while he shows her with his actions and tells her with his words, you start to really believe it once Mia lets her guard down. What I love is what Andre takes her time with this one, never once rushing the progression of hearts. It’s a well-done love story that is thorough and damn sexy to boot!
Andre also nearly had me jumping in my chair with excitement because she reveals who Ian’s heroine will be in this book! Simply saying I am excited for this is a vast understatement. I am SO ready for Ian’s book. His protectiveness over his sister Mia is absolutely hilarious and I cannot wait to his more of his feathers ruffled in his own book.
IT MUST BE YOUR LOVE takes a hot fling and turns it into a love story that stands against the tests of time. A definite must-read!
“Because music can’t tell me when I’m being a self-obsessed jerk. Music can’t light up my day with nothing more than a smile. Music can’t love me back. And—” He paused to gently caress her cheek. “—music will never be you.”

Sometimes the merging of genres can result in a big mess. Othertimes, it’s perfection and ALL IN WITH THE DUKE is one of those rare cases where it works. Ava March does a fanastic job of merging M/M and Historical Romance in a sultry, spicy story that transports you to another time.
This is the first book in a new series, however if you’ve read March’s other books, then you may recognized some familiar names. In this book, readers meet Max, the Duke of Pelham. He is wealthy and very busy, leaving him with no time for himself. When he decides to visit a decadent brothel, he finds a special someone that happens to be everything he has ever desired.
Tristan is rentboy and in their first encounter together, Max and Tristan soon discover an addicting quality in one another. Max continues to visit again and again until one night, he finds Tristan occupied with another man. I’ll leave you to read about what happens next, but it’s actually quite interesting to see the turn of events which lead Max into take Tristan out of the brothel and into his custody.
I really enjoyed this novel. Both characters are very likeable. Their sex together is passionate and sultry. I should also mention that Max has a wonderful preference for leather and BDSM so that definitely spices up this book a little bit. Halfway through, there were some times when I felt that the scenes were dragging a tiny bit. However, right when I wondered if something better would happen, it did!
March has a wonderful gift and after reading ALL IN WITH THE DUKE, I know I will continue to read everything she writes!

NIKOLAI is the prequel novella to the Dark Light series by S.L. Jennings. Though she claims that this is book 2.5 in the series and should be read AFTER the first two books in the series, I still think that it works well on its own. You will just go into the series knowing more about Niko’s dark persona and that may or may not influence who you enjoy more – Niko or his brother, Dorian.
Jennings’ writing style is a little frivolous, highly detailed and uber sexy. The opening scene paints a sinful atmosphere that is perfect for the Dark. Nikolai is the king of it all, basking in women, lust and power. It isn’t until he is sent a little human that he notices something different about her.
The romance between Amelie and Nikolai is swift, but still fairly believable. The chance in Niko from the beginning and the end is drastic, but when you read the rest of the series, all these details will only enrich your reading experience. I think Jennings was able to capture the mood and the passion very well in this novel and the ending? Well, you’ll just have to read the novella yourself to read that epic ending.
Seductive, sinful, and sexy, NIKOLAI will tempt readers to walk into the Dark side.

CHAINED is the first in Ruthie’s Knox’s serial, Roman Holiday. It features an admirable, endearing and highly determined heroine named Ashley who just won’t back away from what she truly believes in.
The opening scene aptly sets the tone for this instalment in the serial. True to Knox’s writing, it’s packed with flirty banter, endearing characters and that so important spark of chemistry between opposites.
At only 40 pages long, it’s a quickie that’s perfect for something to read before you dive into bed or something entertaining during lunch. Either way, one thing is for sure, you will be smiling from ear to ear after reading this.
Knox has a particular talent of making you LOVE her characters right from the very beginning of the story. I cannot stress this enough, but THIS IS INTREGAL. Especially for a serial. I, for one, don’t particularly like serials because I hate the waiting in between. I would much rather wait until the entire serial is out and read it then. Therefore, I was highly skeptical about this simply because of the format it was written in.
But damn, Ruthie Knox proved me wrong. Not only did I LOVE this new beginning, but I also never thought I would enjoy a Contemporary Romance serial because there’s no suspense or mystery to keep readers coming back for more. I really, really need the next instalment.

Elisabeth Barrett gets readers in the holiday spirit with CHRISTMAS IN TAHOE. A sweet and sexy novella set in Lake Tahoe, you can bet that this story will have you grinning from ear to ear!
Ann Smith made plans with her friend Mandy, but unexpectedly, a good-looking stranger shows up in her place. When Annie learns that her friend will be a no-show for their holiday plans, Ann then decides that this stranger named Chase Deckert might be a good way to save her trip. In their long, but sexually heated drive to Lake Tahoe, sweet banter and sizzling tensions rise until Annie realizes she doesn’t want to fight it anymore.
As a fan of Barrett’s writing, what I enjoy most about her work is the fact that she creates such likeable heroines. Annie’s character has her flaws, but in the span of pages, she does from Silicon Valley actuary to a fiery seductress who goes for what she wants.
Barrett also pairs Annie with a sweet and endearing hero in Chase. What I enjoyed most about his character was that he never tried to force Annie to do something she wasn’t ready for. Any development in their relationship came naturally and it’s actually quite interesting to see such progression in a novella because you don’t have a lot of words to play with. But I found that Barrett handled it nicely, creating a sweet, but also very sexy romance between Annie and Chase while also injecting readers with a cheeriness that comes with all Christmas stories.
Sweet and sexy – this little novella has what it takes to appeal to the masses.
In the fourth and last book of the Nikki and Michael series, Keri Arthur spellbinds readers with her unique protagonists and intense plotting. If you’ve followed the series, then you will know that Nikki and Michael have come a long way from when they first met each other. Michael isn’t so stoic and detached and Nikki continues to grow stronger and stronger. Linked together in a magical way, the threat of danger becomes intensely deadly when Michael is kidnapped. It seems that his past has finally caught up with him. In a sick and twisted game, mastered by the brother of the man Michael killed, Nikki is placed in a ghost town, lined with a magical barrier that prevents her from getting help.
As you can tell, KISS THE NIGHT GOODBYE is an intensely thrilling and seductive story that really captured my attention from start to finish. It’s one of those novels that you can’t put down once you start. Michael’s character continues to become fascinating to me and in this particular book, I found his sexiness to be amped up more. I didn’t realize he could get any sexier, but he does in this book.
Nikki is another reason I love this book. Her strength and her love for Michael shines through in all her actions. Despite wondering if the man in this ghost town really is the man she fell in love with, she actually never doubts herself or her love for Michael at any point in the book. If you’re a reader who enjoys Paranormal Romance and usually stray away from Urban Fantasy because there isn’t enough romance involved, then I think you’d enjoy this series because along with the fast-paced action scenes, there’s quite a lot of romance as well.
I said this once before, but I adore Arthur’s writing in this series. It’s so eloquent, so detailed, so spot-on in its pacing that it just makes the reading experience so much more enjoyable. It reminds me a little of Nalini Singh’s writing where the characters are lovable, but have a mysterious aura about them. The action scenes spare no emotions as they go from interesting to intense in just a few words.
What can I say? I adore this series and am a little bummed that this is the end, but I definitely know I’ll be returning to reread Nikki and Michael’s story again whenever I need an exciting read.
