J.D. Robb can literally do no wrong! In the latest installment in the In Death series, Ever and Roarke are once again presented with a nasty murder in Washington Square Park, they are forced to work together to catch a killer. What’s interesting about this case is that Roarke seems to have caught a glimpse of the killer and he’s a man that he doesn’t want to mess with.
Tasked with finding out of these two are linked somehow, Eve will have her hands full. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not only did it delight me to see Eve and Roarke together, but having this strange shadow in the background added another sense of mystery to the plot. I can honestly say that this book blew me away. I have no idea how Robb is able to come up with unique stories with so many books already in the series, but I always look forward to a new In Death book and can’t recommend it enough to others. SHADOWS IN DEATH definitely proves how talented a writer J.D. Robb is....more

Robb hits an incredible milestone with the 50th book of the In Death series. As one of my all-time favorite beloved series, I still can’t believe that Robb has been able to pen so many interesting and engaging books in one series.
In GOLDEN IN DEATH, a mysterious package is delivered to a physician who then opens it and dies of the toxins that escapes from it. The golden egg really fit the concept of this book and like I said, I find that Robb is consistently able to bring interesting concepts to this series that have never been done before. It’s an incredibly feat, considering that there are rarely ever overlaps and all the ideas are original.
I really loved this book. The pacing, as always, is on point, never letting up until the very last page. I have enjoyed the journey that Eve has gone through and find that I can relate to her the most out of all the heroines I’ve read about. And of course, there is Roarke, who is simply one of my favorite heroes of all time. I just adore how understanding and supportive he is of Eve and her career. It’s so inspiring to see their love grow and see their cooperation as they work on various cases together.
The mystery and romance is balanced well and there’s enough suspense to keep readers on their toes. This series continues to get better and now, I can’t imagine my bookshelves without Eve and Roarke on them.

I was really excited about reading this book. If you’re a fan of the Masters of the Shadowlands, then you know that she has built a great group of characters in this series. That being said, I would highly suggest reading the series in order. ALL the characters in the series so far are in this book and they do have considerable page time. I fear that if you aren’t familiar with them that you’ll really feel lost or not feel the connection enough, so I strongly urge you to read in order if you’re not caught up on this series.
Now that that is out of the way, I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book. From the very first page, I felt a deep connection with both the hero and heroine. Sinclair always creates great characters and I love how she really takes her time with developing them in each book. That is why when they make walk-on appearances throughout the series, it’s always thrilling for the reader.
The connection between Josie and Holt is very strong. The romance builds slowly, creating that trust that is so crucial to every relationship. That is explored greatly in this book and it was lovely to see it unfold in a believable manner.
Also, there are some neat updates with the past characters in the series that I was very happy to see so yes, it is definitely worth it to get into the series. Cherise Sinclair is the only BDSM author that I can count on to deliver an engrossing story....more

Exciting things are happening in TWISTED AND TIED, the fourth book in the Marshals series by Mary Calmes. I always look forward to a new book in this series because I absolutely adore Miro and his partner, Ian. I love being inside Miro’s head and getting to see the kickass, badass side to him as a marshal as well as the loving, caring side he is when he is with Ian.
This book doesn’t hold back at all. From the very first page, there’s a ton of action paired with some of Calmes’ signature humor. I also liked that Sam Kage was in this book, making it a fun read if you have read the other books written by Mary Calmes. It’s a nice touch, but I don’t necessarily think you would miss out if you haven’t.
Fans of Charlie Cochet and Abigail Roux would absolutely love this series, so I would highly suggest trying it out if you enjoy your M/M Romance with some high-octane suspense and action. Calmes does a fantastic job of creating a fast-paced read for this series....more

Returning to Donna Grant’s Dark Kings world is always a treat for me. I’m always expecting high-quality writing and a wonderful romance and so far, Grant has never let me down.
HEAT is book twelve in the series and it features the sultry Nikolai and a character that we’ve seen before in the series named Esther. Esther was possessed by Druid magic and was sent to kill others. Now that she has regained her own mind back, she is trying to collect her missing memories. Nikolai, the strong and silent one, is right there to help her.
I really loved the romance in this one. Although some emotions were present from the very beginning, Grant never uses that to spur on the rest of the book. She takes her time to build the relationship between Esther and Nikolai and in the end, I really loved how it turned out.
I’m a big fan of Grant’s heroes. They’re sturdy, sexy heroes who I feel like you can count on. They aren’t overly flashy or unnecessarily alpha. They are just the perfect blend of intense and comforting. I feel like Grant writes the types of heroes that women want to marry and I definitely wanted to spend the rest of my days reading about Nikolai.
Things with Ulrik and Con heat up as well and I love that Grant has been building up to this moment for a while. It makes loyal readers like me extremely satisfied to see everything plotted out so well over the course of the series. Other POVs are included as well, enhancing the narration and furthering the plot. I can see Grant writing a lot of books in this series without it becoming stale to readers and this book is proof that she is able to writing interesting stories for her heroines.
A lot of people have been asking me if they need to read Grant’s previous series to enjoy this one. I always think it’s best to read everything the way it was meant to be read, but I don’t think you’ll have a problem jumping into this world. Just keep in mind that you’ll encounter other characters from past series here....more

Whenever I get a new Marie Harte book, I get excited so it wasn’t surprising behavior to read this book as soon as it came into my hands. I’ve been waiting for Lou’s book and had high hopes for her his happily ever after. I’m happy to note that I absolutely loved this story and I think Joey is the perfect heroine for him.
As the fourth book in the Bad Boys Body Shop series, I have already fallen in love with a lot of the heroes in this series. However, there is still more room in my heart for Lou who seems to be the most charismatic out of all of them. I love his charm and his sex appeal. But what I loved the most is his healthy regard for women. I’m over rough, dominant and selfish heroes in Romance so Lou was a very refreshing character to read about.
Similarly, Joey is just as fun and uplifting. I immediately fell in love with her gentle character and I thought she was a perfect match for Lou. In addition to the romance, there’s some great chemistry between all the other characters as well. I believe that this is one of the things that Harte excels at. Her banter and flirting always brings a smile to my face whether it’s between the hero and heroine or with all the guys together.
I’m not entirely sure what will come from this series next but I do hope that Harte continues to write in this world. I absolutely love the blend of humor and heart, and I hope she continues to write more stories like these ones....more

As soon as JUST THE THING hit my Kindle, I was all over this baby. This second book in the Donnigans series is one of my highly anticipated reads of this year and it didn’t let me down one bit. In fact, I was even more impressed by Marie Harte and her writing in this one.
You can definitely read this book as a standalone, but just as a warning, I have a feeling that you’re going to want to check out the other books in the series after because this book is just so good.
This book is Gavin’s book and he’s the fun-loving brother in the Donnigans family. I was so excited to get his story because I definitely think he has the best personality. Harte stays true to his character and delivers a laugh-out-loud storyline that will no doubt sweep you off your feet. This series has quickly become my favorite family-oriented series beating some popular and longer series out there. There’s just something so funny about reading the guys riled each other up. Even just 2% in this book and I found myself laughing my head off. It really is just a grand old time.
As if that’s not enough to persuade you, there’s also a fabulous romance between the hero and heroine. I worried about who Gavin was going to be paired up with and how she was going to measure up to his awesomeness but Zoe is seriously just as spectacular. I have a major girl crush on her as well. Needless to say, Harte has really come up with some amazing characters. JUST THE THING is hands down my favorite book of 2017 so far....more

Tessa Dare has a new series called Girl Meets Duke and the first book, THE DUCHESS DEAL is an impressive start. Readers can expect the same snarky comebacks and charming personalities that her characters are known for, but this book also has an interesting premise.
Emma Gladstone is seeking payment for a wedding dress that she made. But since its been called off, she does to the would-be groom, the Duke of Ashbury, to be compensated. The Duke has avoided marriage thus far, but he must do so quickly or else he won’t have an heir. His personality is brooding and glowering but it’s no match for the charm that Emma holds.
This book was so fun to read. You can always count of Tessa Dare to deliver a charming book. I was smiling from ear to ear as I read this book and I have to say that I’m very excited for this series. Free-flowing and easy to read, it’s also an easy one to devour. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be able to read it in one sitting.
And soon, you’ll be wishing to claim the heroes one by one just like me. Trust me when I say that this is not a book that you want to miss....more

I always look forward to when Lara Adrian releases a new book and this novella set in the Midnight Breed world was a nice surprise. This is 14.6 in the series and while you should be reading this series in order, I think MIDNIGHT UNBOUND can be read nicely as a standalone too.
One of my favorite things about this series are the heroes. Adrian always creates such stunningly gorgeous men and Scythe is no exception. If you remember a few years back when PNR was all the rage, this series was something special because it has a little bit of a Sci Fi aspect to it. Still now, this series continues to get better. I normally don’t like novellas as much in general. However, I find that Adrian delivers the same amount of intrigue and danger as one of her full-length novels. That’s quite a feat.
The heroine, Chiara Genova, is a very admirable character. As the mother of a young Breed son, she has unfortunately found that her and her son’s lives are in danger. They require Scythe’s protection while the rest of the Order deals with the rest. At first, Scythe is quite grumpy, but I think it’s actually because he already has feelings for Chiara since the first time they’ve met. Beneath that steely exterior is really a soft heart and I really loved getting to see that unfold with the story.
MIDNIGHT UNBOUND is everything I wish for in a novella. If you aren’t reading the Midnight Breed series, then you are seriously missing out on some awesome book boyfriends. Just keep in mind though, Scythe is already claimed by me!...more

With the last book in the Maiden Lane series, Elizabeth Hoyt delivers a fantastic read filled with a swoonworthy romance and holiday spirit. Although I’m sad that this series has come to an end, all the books in the series have been favorites of mine. This novella captures the same fun banter and sinful heroes that I have come to love about this series.
If you’ve followed the series thus far, then you will be familiar with the hero. He was a man who made quite an impression in previous books. I didn’t expect him to get a book, but I was presently surprised with the way Hoyt handled this one. As a rake hero would suggest, this book has a ton of fun flirting and sexy scenes. But it was also funny to see how Adam’s charm didn’t always work on Sarah. For him, I think she was a breath of fresh air. Where loads of women throw themselves at him, Sarah has been immune to this particular rake from the beginning. I loved reading their conversations and eventually seeing how Adam was able to win her over. So if you enjoy rakish heroes who work hard to win over their heroine, I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of this one....more
I have a new obsession and her name is Tara Holloway. To be honest, I’ve had these books on my bookshelf for quite a long time and I haven’t had a chance to read them until now. But since I’ve had this Cozy Mystery kick, I figured that I would read these since I already have so many of them. This is the first book that I read from the series and although it’s technically the third in the series, I had no problem jumping into the story.
Tara is an agent for the IRS and like most people I know, I associate taxes is really boring people. However, Tara is probably the most lively heroine I’ve read in a long time. Immediately I fell for her because of her snark and sense of humor. If you can’t guess by the cover of these books, they are going to be light read, but don’t think for one moment that they don’t pack a punch.
Diane Kelly does a wonderful job of exploring white collar crime. Not only if she highly detailed, but there are so many laugh out loud moments in this book, I felt like I bookmarked every single page.
In addition to the wonderful cases, there’s a touch of romance in this series as well. Although Tara is technically matched up with someone already, she has the hots for temporary partner, Nick.
Nick – Oh man, this guy is everything a woman would want in a guy. He’s a tad cocky but not over the top to where your eyes roll over in your head. It’s just enough to make you smile and I think Kelly did a great job with his character. The other secondary characters are amazing as well. In fact, I fell in love with the whole crew, which is why I’m so excited that I found this series. I have a feeling that I’m going to be glomming the rest of the series because they are so damn fun!
The Tara Holloway series is packed with hilarious antics and fast-paced action. If you’re looking for something that is wholly unique, Diane Kelly is your girl....more

HOLIDAY GRIND is the perfect concoction for those cozy mystery lovers you like a little bit of action but also want something to get you into that holiday mood. As you may know, I’m a huge sucker for holiday themed novels and when I learned that Cleo Coyle had not one, but two in this series, I got really excited.
This book is book eight in the Coffeehouse Mystery series. Although it’s a book that is well into the series, you can definitely read these as standalone since each new book features a different crime. In this particular book, Clare Cosi is expecting a traveling Santa to arrive at her coffeehouse to bring some Christmas cheer to her employees and loyal customers but when he doesn’t show she grows concerned. She goes out to find him and discovers him dead in an alley. That’s when the investigating occurs and in this one, Clare gets herself into a few messes that I found hilarious.
I freaking love Clare. She’s a good mix of curious without being dumb about it. I can understand her drive, especially with this one since the victim is a good friend of hers. If you’re a Romance addict like me, then you’ll be happy to note there are some good scenes with Clare’s hot boyfriend, Mike Quinn and her ex-husband, Matt. Man, let me tell you, I love these guys. Mike is a little more quiet, a little more serious while Matt is more of your typical ladies’ man. I love both and am extremely jealous that Clare has both men in her life in some capacity. In Romance, you’ll never see an ex so frequently in a series except when they appear as the villain so I LOVED that we get to explore this dynamic in this series. If you can’t tell already, I’m hooked and I’m looking forward to reading more from Cleo Coyle....more

This was the first book I tried in audiobook for this series and I have to start off by saying that it’s amazing in audio. Since this series is set in New York, the characters have that distinct accent but the Cosi clan are also Italian, etc so there’s quite a lot of really distinct accents in this book and the narrator absolutely kills them all. Upbeat and fast-paced, this audio kicked ass.
Out of all the books that I’ve read so far in this series, ROAST MORTEM has to be my favorite. This one features firefighters so as you can expect it gets hot quickly. Some of these guys are really fun, while others are a little more rough around the edges. But I loved them all because they are the most interesting bunch of characters that we’ve encountered in the series so far. Part of this is due to Michael Quinn’s appearance. Michael is cousin to Mike Quinn, Clare’s boyfriend and he also has an interest in Clare so having to work with him in this investigation is definitely unsettling for her as he is a man who isn’t shy about his advances.
Mike and Clare’s relationship hits a small rough patch in this one and I was slightly annoyed that Mike kept Clare in the dark for so much in this book regarding his past with Michael but in the end, I totally understand why. It’s clear that Mike is the one that belongs with Clare and I loved how the authors also managed to incorporate Madame, Clare’s mother-in-law in this book as well. Her presence certainly spices things up!...more

Get excited because Jill Shalvis has written another Christmas-themed novella! If you know me, then you may already know that I love Shalvis’ Christmas novellas. They’re always very sweet and fun, and when you add that does of sexiness, well, it really becomes hard to resist.
ONE SNOWY NIGHT is all about Rory and Sexy Max. The two don’t exactly expect to be spending so much time together when they drive together to Lake Tahoe but it’s inevitable if they both want to get where they are going.
As always, Shalvis injects this story with her trademark wit and charm and I definitely found myself smiling as I read it. They’re just such fun, feel-good reads and you’ll definitely get into the Christmas spirit once you read this story.
ONE SNOWY NIGHT is part of the Heartbreaker Bay series. While the Lucky Harbor series is still probably my all-time favorite series from Shalvis, this one is growing on me more and more. There’s some good banter and even an adorable dog, so you already know it’s going to be a cute little story. At 160 pages, this novella is quite hefty and definitely gives you a detailed story so even if you’re not a huge fan of novellas, this one is long enough to provide a full story. I would high recommend this series if you enjoy small-town romances with a generous heap of humor....more

First off, I want to begin by saying that if you haven’t read the THIRDS series and you’re a M/M fan, then you’re really missing out on some amazing characters and stories. This particular book is a little bit different to what you’ll normally see because it isn’t really an anthology or a collection of stories. Here readers give the author some story prompts about the series or character and Charlie Cochet writes short bits and pieces about the boys. I would call this a slice of life type thing because they’re not well-bodied stories or anything like that, just glimpses into their lives. Most are funny, some are touching, all of them are worth the read.
However, if you haven’t read the full length books yet, then don’t read this book. You’ll find yourself extremely lost because a lot of this tidbits are out of context. I would highly suggest reading them after you’ve read all the books because this is a great treat for fans.
Obviously my favorite ones in this book are the ones involving all the characters. I especially love the ones that have Ash and Dex together because they are just so entertaining to read about. But Cochet also writes about Seb so that will be nice for readers who are waiting for the next book in the series. I love these little stories and I hope Charlie Cochet continues to write them!...more

P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU is the second book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series by Jenny Han. I know she wrote this book because of the success of the first book in the series and I’m glad she did because I couldn’t stop thinking about these characters after I finished the first book. The first book ends a little open-ended so I knew that there had to be much more to Lara Jean and Peter. While overall I enjoyed this story, there is quite a difference between this book and the first.
Lara Jean’s innocence is put to the test with this book. P.S. I STILL LOVE YOU has a lot more scandal and drama to it. While the first book was sweet and charming, this one has some nasty scenes in it that will make you feel for these characters. Jealously and seduction come into play here, making for a very juicy read. However, I still preferred the first book to this one, just because I think the events were a little more organic and true to Lara Jean’s character. With this book, she is placed out of her comfort zone, resulting in a lot of cringe-worthy scenes.
I want to say this here because when the third book comes out, I want to make it known that I’m still Team Peter. He’s not perfect as much as he thinks he is but there’s something I find endearing about his character. It’s the little things that I love about him the most, the small remarks he makes about Lara Jean’s hair or the fact that remembers some offhand comment she made a long time ago. It shows he cares and I think it’s really sweet.
The new guy in this story is very much the perfect man for Lara Jean. If he was introduced earlier in the series, there’s a great possibility that I would choose him instead. But after everything that has happened with her and Peter, I don’t think I can see Lara Jean with anyone else. Everything begins and ends with Peter Kavinsky.
For this entire series, I listened to the audiobook and I think it’s worthy mentioning that I love the narrator for it. I think she does a great job of doing the guy’s voices but also capturing that whining that teens are good at. You can really believe that it’s Lara Jean you’re listening to. Plus, when she reads the love letters she puts a lot of heartfelt emotion in it that I love.
I hate having to wait for the next book in the series. But until that releases, I’ll definitely be reading the other Jenny Han series. I’m hoping it’s just as fun and endearing as this one....more

HER HALLOWEEN TREAT kicks off Reisz’ new Men at Work series. This book is part of the Blaze line, which I think is interesting because I thought Reisz was trying to step away from Erotic Romance for a while. However, with this book she proves that she is made for writing the hotter, more sinful stories.
His book features Joey Silva who has just learned that the man has been dating for two years is actually married. Yup, say it with me what a douche! So she’s returned home to recuperate and try to get over Ben.
There she encounters an old high school friend named Chris and well, Chris has grown up to become quite the stud. He becomes the rebound but it’s quick to see that there’s more to these two than just lust and trying to take the edge off. As much as they try to keep things casual, their emotions run deep.
I really enjoyed this book. Reisz excels are witty banter and this book is rife with it. And when I mean rife, I mean it’s JAM PACKED with crazy back and forth. This is a great thing, and something that I think sets Reisz’s books apart from the crowd, but I also think it can be this book’s greatest flaw as well. She does sexy banter well, but I do think that too much banter during the sex scenes can also ruin the pacing. All of the scenes in this book deliver on the hotness but when the characters are talking about what sex position they are going to try this time, it kind of takes you out of the scene sometimes. What’s wrong with just doing it? Do they have to map out every little thing? Dirty talk is one thing, but sometimes I did feel like I was reading about a couple reading out a kama sutra or something. Let’s skip the instructions and just do it!
All that being said, this book really is amazing. I loved Chris. I loved Joey. I loved Kira. I loved Dillion. I really do think Erotic Romance is Tiffany Reisz’s thing. She just needs to write more stories like this....more

In the second installment to Reisz’ Men at Work series, HER NAUGHTY HOLIDAY has Clove Greene freaking out about hosting this year’s Thanksgiving dinner. With her overly judgmental family, she’s finding it difficult to tell them to all shove it and leave her alone, but at thirty years old and still single, she knows she’s going to need all the help she can get.
So she asks her young assistant’s father, Erick Fields to be her pretend boyfriend for the week while his daughter is visiting her mother in L.A. Erick is completely up for the challenge because he’s always liked Clove but never made his move because of his daughter. Now that he knows that she’s interested, he’s not going to let go.
Once again Tiffany Reisz pens a whip smart book filled with fun banter and sexy times. I loved the holiday touch to this book and her take on the single father trope. She doesn’t do anything really different in terms of the plot that we haven’t seen before, yet I found myself glued to the pages of this book because I loved the characters so much.
If I had to list a complaint I would say that the author has the tendency to have her characters talk around in circles. I’ve read every single one of Reisz’s books and I know her tricks now. Her flirting involves a lot of answering questions with another question to keep the ball in the air, so to speak. The worst thing is to have a character drop the ball because it would be the end of the banter so she does all that she can to keep it going. That being said, it becomes an almost roundabout way to reach the point where you actually want to get to. It’s not a terrible trick to employ because it has worked countless times, but sometimes I do think she relies on this trick a bit too much and if you’ve read all her books like me, you can probably pick up on it too.
Still, I have been enjoying this series so much that I’ve read the books back to back. I cannot wait to see what the next book has in store next!...more

I went through the THIRDS series in a frantic fury and then, when it was all done, I found myself lost. That’s the only bad thing about becoming obsessed with a series and binge reading them. When the end comes, you don’t really know what to do with yourself. Thankfully, there are at least two more books —one for Seb and Hudson and one last one for Dex and Sloane —before Cochet dives into the THIRDS universe novels, but she has treated readers with these Beyond the Books type reads.
These aren’t novellas or full-length stories by any means, but they are little snippets or what I like to call ‘Slices of Life’ stories that give you brief glimpse of a specific time in a character’s life that we don’t see in the regular books. A lot of these ones are usually written in the past, where the guys are considerably younger. My favorite thing about this book is the fact that we get more of Tony Maddock. Maddock is such a great guy and it’s even more evident in the pages of this book. We see a lot of him with baby Cael and Dex and stuff like this just warms my heart because in the regular books, we only see him as the tough sergeant and occasionally, that protective fatherly side of him emerges. Here, however, we see it in all its glory and I love that Cochet can write smokin’ hot M/M sex scenes, but she can go the other side as well and write sweet, touching fatherly moments with his kids as well.
So I think if you’re a rabid fan of this series like I am, this series one worth checking out. It’s not that long, but maybe, just maybe, it will tide you over until the next release....more

GUYS! We have another Destiny book! When I learned that Toni Blake was returning to Destiny, Ohio to write another book, I rejoiced! Blake’s Destiny series is easily one of my favorite Contemporary Romance series. If you like small town romances that are sweet, then you’ll love this series. But what’s so amazing about this series is that Blake writes amazingly sexy heroes and the sex in this books are exceptional hot. They borderline Erotic Romance sometimes and well, a girl cannot complain about that! So I was thrilled to see she would be writing another book. Plus, it’s a Christmas-themed one and absolutely loved HOLLY LANE.
In this book, we have Shane Dalton who is on his way to Miami after seeing his father. His father rattles him, but what’s more unsettling is the fact that his dying words were for him to visit Destiny, Ohio. Shane hasn’t a clue what is waiting for him there, but he goes anyway and gets caught in a blizzard. Car wrecked and lost, Shane goes to the nearest house to find shelter.
There he meets Candice Sheridan, a sweet woman with nervous personality. Candice is naturally wary of this stranger, but eventually she gives him shelter for the night. It’ll be the last she’ll see of him. Or, that’s what she thinks.
CHRISTMAS IN DESTINY has everything I want in a great book. There’s a fabulous balance of sexy and sweet. Both the hero and heroine are lovely and relatable. Plus there are side characters and romances that bring something a little bit extra to the main storyline.utc-top-pick
Blake creates wonderful banter between the main couple and the other friendly characters in the town. It was so easy for me to fall in love with them. The sense of community in this book is very strong and it also adds to the cheery nature of a Christmas book.
But I think my favorite part of this book might actually be the ending. Everything comes full circle in this book. What Blake does with this story is truly inspiring. I laughed, I swooned, I cried. And the tears weren’t even before of sadness. They were tears of happiness because this book touched me down to my very soul. Not many authors can do that but I can always count on Toni Blake to deliver a stellar book.
If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly suggest you check it out. This book looks like it’s the end of the series (which totally breaks my heart because I wish there were infinite stories set in this world!) so you can jump right in and enjoy!

I never thought I would ever say that mystery and murder are comforting for me but there’s something about coming back to this series that makes me feel at home. Whether it’s hearing Roarke’s silky Irish voice or listening to Eve complain about something girly, it’s always a treat to return to this world.
After Roarke and Eve attend a fancy dress party, they are on their way home when they encounter a woman wandering around the streets alone. She is disoriented, bloody and bruised. It takes Eve only seconds to determine that she was beaten and raped and Roarke requires no prompt to call it in. They soon discover that she may not be alone, that there might be someone else she was with who might be in trouble. Further investigation leads Eve and Roarke to the woman’s mansion where they find her husband’s dead body, all their safes robbed and something else far more devastating.
As Eve digs deeper, she is discovering more and more about this couple. Although I enjoy the banter between Eve and Peabody and the romance between her and Roarke, it’s the cases that make me come back each time. I love the way Robb approaches each story. She starts of with an inciting incident that not only creates intrigue, but there’s always various layers to it as well. For example, the victim in this case is a rich surgeon who is respected in his work but not very well-liked socially. You’ll find a lot of crime stories who tend to feature the victims as just that. They’re poor, sad souls who have been taken away so soon. But here the victim is an asshole, and I think this creates a far more interesting storyline than just serving justice.
There are no slow parts to this book. Every word is perfectly calibrated so that it furthers the story in some way. I’m still amazed that Robb is able to come up with storylines that haven’t been done before. If you’ve been thinking about trying this series, I highly suggest you pick up any one to try. These books are mysteries, therefore, each story stands well on its own. You’ll miss a bit of the personal relationships in the series, but it’s nothing to fret over. There’s not much development in those areas, especially with the latter books in the series. So again, if you haven’t read this series yet, you’re seriously missing out on some delicious and interesting mystery books out there....more

I was a little intimidated about starting this book because I read a review that said it was full of angst. While I’m okay with angst for the most part, I worried for Dex and Sloane. I don’t like seeing them unhappy.
However I found that the angst claim isn’t entirely true. Yes, there’s angst but it happens in the last quarter of the book only. I went through the entire book expecting heartbreak but there’s actually a lot of hilarious bits and action than angst.
But when the angst does come, it’s laid on thick! You can definitely feel it and it makes you cheer for these boys even more.
That being said, I love everyone in this series! Each character is so individual yet compliment each other greatly. I even love Isaac Pierce! Cochet reveals some tantalizing bits of information about the other THIRDS members which I already knew but was will floored by, just because it gets me excited about the future books in the series. This is definitely one where you’ll want to have all the books before starting because I swear you won’t be able to stop. I’m already diving into the next one!...more

There isn’t much more to say that hasn’t been said before about this book. All the hype surrounding it is true. This is an amazing book and these characters are just larger than life.
I listened to this book in audio and I have to say, it was an excellent choice to do so. The narrator does a fantastic job of doing everyone’s voices so that they are distinctive and unique. I really want to say that I love Ash’s accent most but honestly everyone sounds amazing. I especially like the added special effects. It definitely makes for a fun listen.
Things go from really bad to excellent for Dex in this book. It’s a little slow in the beginning as we get to know Dex as police before he is transferred to the THIRDS. Dex is honestly the best thing about this series. Without him I just don’t think it would be that addicting. There’s just a charming quality to him that I love and can’t get enough of.
While technically the book does end on a cliffhanger, it’s a good one. It’s done in such a way that you immediately want more and for the first time in a long time, I’m binge reading a series again.
If you haven’t read this and you’re a fan of Cut & Run, Adrien English and A Matter of Time, you need to read this. Dex and Sloane will be your new favourite couple. I guarantee it!...more

RUIN AND RISING is the last book in The Grisha series. It’s been a whirlwind of a journey following Alina and Mal throughout the series and I’m pretty content of where they have ended up. I can imagine some people being a little bit upset with what happens in this book but I didn’t mind it personally. I think it made for good conflict without completely changing a character.
Alina is easily the best thing about this series. I can’t remember a YA heroine that I loved recently as much as I adore Alina. She has spirit, yet she doesn’t act without thinking things through. She’s tough and strong, and despite having Mal in the background to lean on, she doesn’t always use him as a crutch. Alina is very much capable of standing on her own two feet even when things get hard.
Compared to the other books in the series, I think this one had to be my least favorite. That isn’t to say that I hated it, I enjoyed it very much actually, but I just wasn’t the biggest fan of the Apparat. Ugh, what a bore! The Darkling’s was so much better and interesting. I just wasn’t the biggest fan of the whole Apparat thing.
I’m really glad to have read this series. I know I’m a little late on the bandwagon but Leigh Bardugo will certainly become an author I will keep my eyes on. I like her writing style and the fact that she doesn’t dumb down her writing or vocabulary for teens reading this series. This entire series is complex and intriguing, perfect for teens or adults alike!...more

One day I was just looking through some of my older titles that I own that I still haven’t read yet and VOYEUR stood out to me. I’m a big fan of Toni Blake’s work and I knew Lacey Alexander is a pen name for Toni’s more spicier work. I can’t believe I only read one other book of Alexander’s so I figured why not, since I have the book already I might as well read it. The blurb was just so enticing that I stated reading on the spot!
VOYEUR is about a Mystery novelist named Laura Watkins. Laura is experiencing writer’s block but she had a deadline coming up so she needs to get her butt in gear and create an engaging story. In an effort to do that, she uses her friend’s isolated Colorado home. The privacy is just what she needs to get focused on her work, but it also stirs up some fantasies. When Laura sees a webcam’s light flashing, she pretends that someone is watching her. The idea arouses her and kickstarts a series of fantasies that sets her soaring. I have to say, this book heats up pretty quickly, especially when the owner of the house, Nick tells her that he saw her little show last night.
The banter between these two is amazing. Alexander keeps things realistic and safe while also pushing the boundaries of the characters. I think while there were times that Laura’s hesitancy kind of lower the heat down to a simmer sometimes, I do think that it was necessary otherwise she would come across as a little crazy. So I appreciate the author putting that in there.
I think it’s so interesting that for the first half of the book the hero and heroine haven’t met in real life and yet the author can convey the chemistry so beautifully across the page. I think that can be a feat to overcome but Alexander seems to do it with ease. So if you are looking for something a little more different than your typical Erotic Romance, than this is an excellent one to try out. I don’t think I’ve come across another book like it....more
