I was excited to review this book and the entire series of books. This series is about a group of girls, friends from college, and their getting together on New Year’s Eve. When they were in college, they made a list of qualities they wanted to find in a husband. With all of them single again, they make a new list and challenge to find someone by next year.
This book is focused on Jessie and her story of finding a man. Jessie has just moved back home to San Diego after her cheating husband leaves her. Jessie moves in with her parents so they can help out with the children while she works. Charlie ends up missing and the cops are called. Mick shows up to help during the search. Quickly finding his chance to ask her on a date, they soon find themselves enamored with one another.
This was a quick read and a lot of fun. I found familiarness to the Nora Roberts trilogies or quartets where friends and romance are involved. I absolutely loved this book. Even though it is a short book, I did not feel rushed or that there wasn’t enough information or story. If you love a cute romance with a little steamy situations, this book is for you. ...more

After reading book three, I went back and read book one a free download on my Kindle. Book one does cover more of the details I thought I was missing, but really book three did a very good job of keeping you in the loop.
I enjoyed the crime in book one better than book three. I’m not exactly sure why, but it kept me entertained. The characters the author has created are all very quirky and fun. My favorite is the mother-in-law. When you talk mother-in-law, Anastasia’s is the epitome and she handles her very well.
The side story of the loan shark bothering Anastasia does keep the pace of the book. A quick read with a lot of fun and entertainment. Definitely a must read for cozy mystery readers. A lot of fun even if you don’t think you like cozies. ...more

My third book in this series and fourth book by this author. I am definitely going to consume all books written by Ms. Stark.
This story idea was fresh and new. I was a little apprehensive when starting this book thinking, how is she going to write a story with just Milo and Ariana and not have it boring or just complete sex scenes. Very creative. I love the little twist and the loop in with Milo’s mom. There was also a little bit of suspense in with this love story which just added to the enjoyment.
I love how the author writes the beautiful scenery in all of her books. I can just imagine myself in such a beautiful place. The descriptions are just enough without being overbearing in abundance.
Definitely a must read author and a must read series. I recommend this entire series to all romance readers. I just hope there is more of the Aspen series. ...more

This book got off to a really good start. I was immediately engaged and the pages kept turning for me. However, it seemed that after the “action” happened in the beginning, there was just a lot of detail and more detail until the end. I was interested enough to know what happened and kept reading, but the entertainment value dropped.
I enjoyed the triangle twist of the story which evolved from the accident that had happened prior to this story. I did enjoy the characters for the most part, but I’m not sure I connected with any one character in particular.

Get ready to get hooked on this book from page one. I was slow in reading it due to personal life that kept me busy and sure wished I would have read it when I didn’t have anything going on. It was so fast paced and kept you going.
I liked how the author clipped the stories together in the beginning and the finally pieces everything together at the end. As I was reading, I kept thinking back to the first few chapters and wondered how and where they would fit. It was amazing when it all came together.
This thriller does contain some romance. I liked that aspect as well. Softened it up a little for the female reader in me. Men, however, should not think it was all gushy because it definitely was not. There is a visit to a strip club :) Lee and Lucy are a perfect couple, despite what is happening. Lucy is very strong and I think that is what makes the relationship work.
I highly recommend this book to any reader who loves a thrill. Be prepared to be blown away! And again, this is why I read the Indie Authors. ...more

This is a definitely must read, must buy cozy series of mine. These are always quick reads for me. I really like amateur sleuth Hannah Swensen and her cookie recipes. This story puts her right at the crime scene after it happens which is not normally a situation for her. I liked this fresh new approach to the crime. Her crime solving tactics are always fun and putting herself in Claire’s dress shop was new.
There is also new development in Hannah’s relationships with Mike and Norman. I can’t wait for the next book to be released to see where this will go now. I enjoy a cozy mystery series when it has a great side story that keeps you wanting to read the next book.

I loaded it onto my Kindle and began reading. I was quickly drawn in at the beginning, as the prologue had me hooked. As I continued to read, I felt the story just went along without a lot of ups and downs. I also wasn’t sure what it was that my coworker saw in this book. However, as I continued to read and reach near the very end, I definitely connected with the book. There is so much at the end that is revealed that reels you back through all of the happenings of the story. .
I loved all of the characters, not so much in that I liked them all, but that I could definitely identify with each and everyone. Lou’s family was a great addition to her story with Will. And Will’s family, obviously a very different socioeconomic type family, was also a great addition to his story. The depth that these characters brought to the story, the story itself unfolded without a lot of action.
This is definitely an author I am wanting to read more from. However, my hang up is which book? I’m afraid I’ll pick the wrong one and be very disappointed and would love to have another great read. If you’ve read anything else or have any knowledge as to the other books by Jojo Moyes, leave me a comment.

I was provided a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.
I was totally taken in by the synopsis of the book and accepted the book for review. The book is a fairly quick read and takes off well. There is a lot of information about family law, the court and legal process, etc. and at times I did feel bogged down with the details. However, overall I enjoyed the story.
I felt the story was limited being told from Deshawn’s point of view. Only hearing about how Deshawn’s mom felt I could be more emotionally involved in the story if I got to hear from her point of view how she felt about things. Even if she didn’t know what was happening to her son. My favorite character was Deshawn’s boss. I felt he understood Deshawn and tried to help him the best way that he could without getting involved. Another character favorite was the flower shop girl. Very unique and enjoyed her interaction with Deshawn.
Overall I did enjoy the story, I was disappointed with how quickly the story ended. I recommend this book to readers who like drama fiction. Very unique story and a quick read....more

Finally getting somewhere with this series. I enjoyed this book of the series. A reader friend of mine said it would be with this book that the story would take off and I definitely have to agree. I guess I have struggled somewhat with the world building and that is why I’ve been sluggish with the series. However, I am glad I stuck with it.
This book is where we really get to meet and know more about Dani who is the character in the new spin off series of this one. I loved this character. Amazing and to think she is only 13 years old. What a spit fire.
I loved the new developments that Mac has discovered with the Seelie and Unseelie. I can see how this book is the pivotal of the series. When I finished, I was amazed and quickly grabbed the next book in the series. Yes, it does leave you hanging.
I am excited to continue with this series. I would recommend this series to readers who like to think and wait for things to happen. I was provided a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. When I received the request, I read and thought the synopsis for a while before accepting the request. I’m glad I chose the book. I think the cover is fitting for the story, as well as the title.
A lot is going on in this book. It’s not a quick read, but it is a page turner. Absorb all of the information you can when you read about the bootlegging and rumrunning, and the silent and talking pictures. Do not make a determination about liking or disliking the book until you are at least halfway through the book. As soon as the connections begin coming together, the book takes off.
My favorite character was not the main character, but his girlfriend Sylvia. I think partly because of the way Hud treated her and what he kept secret from her. However, when she found out about the certain things he was hiding, she was spit fire back at him. I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the background information on the rumrunning and progression into talking pictures. Some big names in there that made me wonder how the actual talking picture came to be. That’s what I like about fiction. An introduction to non-fiction, that will cause me to research and learn more about.

I loved the balance of the war, ascension, and romance, as well as the delivery of information pertinent to the world. I’m not a fan of too much world building, and this was definitely just right. Enough to set the stage, but not to bore a romance fan like myself.
I loved the hero Gideon. Strong, sexy, and sensitive enough for Elise. Elise, was also strong, sexy, and sensitive for Gideon. They were both able to learn from one another, and develop a strong relationship, not letting the past affect their going forward.

As soon as I got into the book a few pages, the story took off and it was a quick read. I loved the tone of the book and this is what definitely had me hooked as well as the story.
I enjoyed all of the characters whether they were “evil” or “good”. I loved how the author wove the story throughout all of the characters with their personal stories included. My favorite characters included Adam Marr, Jamie, Jess, Mick, Elizabeth, and the Colonel.
Even though there are a lot of characters, their details and contribution to the story was not daunting. I loved how the author portrayed an amiable group of people/friends. This is where we were introduced to many of the characters and learned of their personalities. It was from this beginning that the reader needs to begin making his decisions on the suspect.
I loved the duo of Elizabeth and Mick. Their relationship is interesting and fun, actually quite comical. This provided a lot of refreshing moments in a book that could be very dark and serious.
After finishing this book, I checked out Rebecca’s website and was excited to see the next book in this series is due to release soon. I will definitely be reading the next one. I’m not sure if it will include Jess as a character, but I am hoping so.

I absolutely loved this cozy mystery. Anastasia is a great main character. She’s tough and caring. Having been through the wringer in prior books, she is trying to make her life better. As she takes on the part-time job at the assisted living center, she finds herself strapped for time and away from the house. This situation creates freedom for several family members living at her home and definitely adds to events happening at her house while she is gone
Oh and the bird, it quotes Shakespeare. Amazing! But hilarious at times when situations are tight and questionable.
The crime was not easy for me to figure out, but was a lot of fun to follow. Very clever how Anastasia was able to find the link when the cops could not. I really enjoyed following her path to solving the crime.

This book is a typical Nora Roberts, but with her suspense and paranormal inserts the book was awesome. While I don’t believe in ghosts, I absolutely love how the ghost played into the storyline. I also liked that the women were older and that Clare was a single widowed mother with kids. Tying them into the story and the fun games they had with Beckett, were very enjoyable. I enjoyed all of the characters. They were described very well without being too wordy. I instantly was able to see these types of character in my head and put them into the story. My favorite character was Kate, especially when she hooks up with Lugowski to head to the mansion to help with the situation there. I also enjoyed their new found friend Luzetta. I wonder what part she will play in future books in this series.
My least favorite part of the book was that there were so many stories going on. These stories eventually wind together and fit in the end, but I spent so much of the time while reading wondering how it was going to go together. This just provided a little bit of a distraction for me.

Alright, so book four in the series was definitely a clincher. Tess you have me hooked on the series with this book. I very much enjoyed this book. As many readers have found, The Apprentice (book two) was kind of a let down and had many wondering if they should continue with the series. I read The Sinner (book three) which was okay, much better than The Apprentice, but did give me hope for the series. I am glad I picked up Body Double (book four) as this book was awesome.
There was a lot going on in this book which made it quite a page turner. So many avenues, but leading down the same road. I just had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. While I was not a fan of Dr. Isles in previous books, I found her a little more personal. Of course, with the crime hitting quite close to her home, a personal side of her was shown. This made her more likeable and real to me.
Detective Rizzoli and expecting and very near her due date. There are a lot of hilarious moments as she interacts with those on the cases and in the bar after work. Definitely added humor to the book, but also added a little more suspense to the actual crime. The elements of Isles and Rizzoli as a duo is really starting to come together and with the side stories and personal lives of both of them growing, this series is really starting to take off.
I like this series and will definitely continue. I almost quickly grabbed up the next book in the series which I don’t normally do (as I get bored with series reading them straight through) but had other books I needed to get to first. I will definitely grab it at the next chance and I suspect the series will get better with each book.

This book is definitely a love story that is not without its difficult times. I really enjoyed how the author has woven the various parts of the story together to provide such reading enjoyment. I could not read it fast enough. It’s like she has written many cliffhangers throughout the book.
This is my first book by this author and I can tell you it definitely will not be my last. As soon as I finished reading this book, I purchased Sierra by Taylor Dean. I just hope I can find time to read it soon. There are very few authors that can write such a dramatic story, but Taylor Dean has just proven that she can.
I don’t even know what else to say without giving anything away. I liked all of the characters, but not really. If that makes sense. The author has created some remarkable characters and their lives that intertwine amongst one another. She has also been able to take such a sensitive and upsetting topic and write a wonderful love story. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart, but is also for the hopeless romantics.
My favorite line from the book: Listen to me, you can take a precious jewel worth millions, dip it in mud, leave it dirty and stained, its beauty spoiled, and underneath it all it will still be worth millions. Taylor Dean. I Have People (Kindle Locations 6902-6903).

I was surprised how different this book was from the other two. I did not enjoy it as much at times, but at other times I thought it was just as good.
I didn’t enjoy it first because it did become so very sci-fi, and that is definitely not my genre. Second, I think its level of intensity was completely different and threw me off from the story. Last, it seemed to me that the book was now the level of an adult book and as I had previously recommended this book to 12 years old and older, I definitely would have to say, no one under 18 should read this book.
All in all, I did enjoy where the story was headed. Being outside of the school did create for some different settings and involvement with new characters. The fact that Sam and Drake were separated and trying to find themselves back together. This put them in situations of depending on others and created new relationships. Not only Sam and Drake, but Luke and Lucy were now finding themselves involved with others and this was not okay at times with one another. Oh, and without giving away too much, they did find an old friend.

There are a lot of characters and sometimes it was confusing as there were so many. My favorite character was Daniel. He was the organist and a very good one, but socially he was quite awkward and funny. He did add a lot to the story. All the others were enjoyable, just not as memorable as Daniel.
I liked the setting and plot of the story. With the idea of the church building getting older and obviously wearing out and needing repairs, this did lead to a lot of questions and concerns with its continuing in service. This dilapidated state also could have opened the doors wider to the property developers who had their eye on the church and its buildings. I loved how this added to the suspense of the story.

So continuing on with the series, this book is also a quick read. Not much in the style of writing has changed and a few more characters are added. With the story taking place in such a small town, I was worried it would be limited, but that is definitely not the case. With this book, you get to meet new people in town and visit more shops and restaurants.
This mystery/crime centers around Danny and his friends which gives us more detail about him and what he does in his time away from work. It will also be decided at the end of this book if Danny gets the full-time position that is available after summer.
The mystery itself was amazing. Not what I expected and definitely deeper than the last mystery Ceepak and Boyle solved. I did not guess who or what, until the end of the book.

The Nuxalk was an Indian tribe I had never heard of before and a lot of the information used in the story was very interesting. The author has obviously done his research to effectively use the details in the story. I also enjoyed the personal story told alongside the crime story. I thought I would be met with a lot of details and set up as usually comes with first books of a series, but that definitely was not the case. There were a few new details that I learned, but these are definitely cozies that can stand on their own and out of order.
Poppy Markham's family is introduced and are great characters. My family favorite is her dad. Met with a lot of changes and hardships in this book, he is still a great dad.
My favorite overall characters are still John With and John Without. They definitely add humor to the story and life of Poppy. It was a lot of fun to learn about Poppy’s dad, stepmom, and a little more about her stepsister. I thought the crime itself was pretty clever and I did have a hard time guessing who had done it. The scheme in the crime was pretty clever.

Overall I very much enjoyed the story and the point that beauty is what is inside. This book was a quick read first that it is only 76 pages long and that the story didn’t get too involved.
At times I felt the writing was jumpy and was quickly taken from one setting or idea to another instead of a smoother transition. This didn’t completely take away from the story and I was able to enjoy what I had read and enjoyed all the characters and their interaction.
I recommend this book as a pick me up or for someone who is struggling with their outward appearance, this is a great story of encouragement....more
