In times of doubt, fear and loss, we turn to the songs and hymns that remind us that this world is not all there is - that what awaits us as followers of Jesus is a heavenly kingdom. Songs like "Face to Face," "Amazing Grace," "Victory in Jesus," and "I'll Fly Away" were written amid circumstances of great personal pain in the lives of the songwriters. In sharing their stories, we can find even more comfort in our own circumstances. Award-winning author Ace Collins offers this collection of thirty inspiring true stories that provide hope for this world and insight into the next, painting a picture of eternal life filled with joy, peace, and happy reunions. Perfect for music lovers, pastors, hospice workers, counselors, and all of us who have lost someone we loved.
My Thoughts: This is a wonderful book written to encourage us and to inform us of how the songs and hymns came about. This book can be used as a devotional, or just read for the history and encouragement of the words. This would make a lovely gift for anyone.
It is well written and will be an enjoyment for all those who read it.

OurIn our post-Christian age, the old answers for skeptics are no longer cutting it. Why? Because they largely seek to answer the wrong questions. Our world is changing, and while the gospel never changes, the way we talk about it and learn about it must.
Christianity for People Who Aren't Christians answers both classic and bleeding-edge questions that skeptics have about the faith, such as
- Is there a God? - Why do the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus matter? - Why is there so much suffering in the world? - Why do Christians think there is only one way to know God? - How do I reconcile the Bible's picture of Christ's followers with the actual Christians I know who have disappointed me?
Covering such topics as astrophysics, social justice, and acceptance of the LGBTQ community, this one-of-a-kind book is perfect for those skeptical of Christianity and for those who love them and want to keep the line of communication open.
My Thoughts: This is a wonderful book for those interested in apologetics and evangelism. The reader will find great answers to many questions from those who don't understand or believe in our Lord and Savior. I recommend that all Christians read this book to have answers on hand.
If you know someone who is doubting, a skeptic, if you have questions, or just want to learn more about apologetics, this is the book to read. It's not a huge thick book on theology, just the right size to answer all the questions that may come up. Certainly, a must-read for anyone....more
In 1993, Andrew Brunson was asked to travel to Turkey, the largest unevangelized country in the world, to serve as a missionary. Though hesitantIn 1993, Andrew Brunson was asked to travel to Turkey, the largest unevangelized country in the world, to serve as a missionary. Though hesitant because of the daunting and dangerous task that lay ahead, Andrew and his wife, Norine, believed this was God's plan for them.
What followed was a string of threats and attacks, but also successes in starting new churches in a place where many people had never met a Christian. As their work with refugees from Syria, including Kurds, gained attention and suspicion, Andrew and Norine acknowledged the threat but accepted the risk, determining to stay unless God told them to leave.
In 2016, they were arrested. Though the State eventually released Norine, who remained in Turkey, Andrew was imprisoned. Accused of being a spy and being among the plotters of the attempted coup, he became a political pawn whose story soon became known around the world.
My Thoughts: This should be a book that every Christian, every missionary should read. It gives us a realistic look at what it is like to "go unto the world" and evangelize. It isn't easy, and pastor Brunson is a classic tale of what it is like in the middle east.
This is pastor Brunson's story of how he was captured, the hardships he and his wife encountered. It tells us of their faith throughout this nightmare that they endured. This is an excellent book, one that we all should read.

Marisol Valentin flees Spain afterEscaping to the New World is her only option…Rescuing her will wrap the chains of the Inquisition around his neck.
Marisol Valentin flees Spain after murdering the nobleman who molested her. She ends up for sale on the indentured servants’ block at Charles Town harbor—dirty, angry, and with child. Her hopes are shattered, but she must find a refuge for herself and the child she carries. Can this new land offer her the grace, love, and security she craves? Or must she escape again to her only living relative in Cartagena?
Captain Ethan Becket, once a Charles Town minister, now sails the seas as a privateer, grieving his deceased wife. But when he takes captive a ship full of indentured servants, he’s intrigued by the woman whose manners seem much more refined than the average Spanish serving girl. Perfect to become governess for his young son. But when he sets out on a quest to find his captured sister, said to be in Cartagena, little does he expect his new Spanish governess to stow away on his ship with her six-month-old son. Yet her offer of help to free his sister is too tempting to pass up. And her beauty, both inside and out, is too attractive for his heart to protect itself against—until he learns she is a wanted murderess.
As their paths intertwine on a journey filled with danger, intrigue, and romance, only love and the grace of God can overcome the past and ignite a new beginning for Marisol and Ethan.
My Thoughts: This is such a powerful and interesting book to read. A novel about forgiveness, learning to trust in God and to let go of the past. A wonderful look at how we can turn back to the Lord, no matter what our circumstances may be. The author has done an incredible job with the characters, she spins a story that not only keeps the readers interested but brings them into the story and feel what the characters are going through. A beautiful story of how God's purpose will be done no matter what it takes. A story of love that no one could stop.
The author gives us a good look at history and how life was, with the piracy on the seas, and customs of the day. This is a story with many twists and turns in the plot; once you think you have the story figured out, the author takes the storyline on a different trail.
I enjoyed the scene in the story with the Andalusian horses and how they dance the flamenco dance. I too have a l love for horses and I thought of the beautiful Lipizzaners when reading about these Andalusians.
I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Elva Cobb Martin....more

Adventure awaits Benjamin across the ocean, and he embraces the challenges before him. Can a man who’s not yet thirty be strong enough to impact the New World? My Thoughts: This is a great read. It takes us into the life of a privileged lord who seems to have no leading in his life until he gets news of his aunts death. Benjamin finds himself headed to America with a new outlook on life.
This is a short but interesting novel that gives the reader a look into the 1800's in southern America. It touches on the subject of slavery, which the author handled brilliantly.

John Cross is a small-town pastor, bent on leading his flock to follow God's calling. He's not the sort of man one would expect to have a checkered past.
But the truth is that the man behind the pulpit preaching to his sheep was once a wolf--an assassin for the CIA. When John decided to follow Christ, he put that work behind him, determined to do penance for all the lives he took. He vowed never to kill again.
Now someone wants the peaceful pastor to pay for his sins with his own life. And when a terrorist out for revenge walks into the church, John's secrets are laid bare. Confronted with his past, he must face his demons and discover whether a man can truly change. Can he keep his vow--even when the people he loves are in mortal danger? Will his congregation and the brave woman he's learning to care for be caught in the cross fire? In the end, John's life may be the only sacrifice he has left to offer. . .
Andrew Huff's thrilling debut is not only a riveting story of suspense, it's also a deep exploration of the moral quandaries that face those who choose to follow the Prince of Peace in a violent world.
My Thoughts: This book is an attention-getter. It has your attention from the very beginning and draws the reader into the storyline. It is well written and easy to read as the storyline flows along.
The characters are easy to relate to and the reader is pulled into the book and is always waiting for the next bit of action. The reader can see how the characters deal with faith, redemption, and forgiveness. I enjoyed the plot of this story, former CIA agent turned pastor. It shows the love of Christ for us all, and how we can change our ways with the help of Christ. It also gives the reader a glimpse of what is happening in the Middle East. This is a must-read story that I truly enjoyed.
Definitely a novel for those that love action and intrigue

To complicate matters, her fiancé accidentally willed her the family farmhouse. Eager to please everyone and desperate to disappoint no one, she proposes a marriage of convenience that could solve her and Russ’ problems, if they can get past her aunt, his sisters, and an ex-girlfriend.
My Thoughts: This is a charming romance that the readers will not want to put down. This is the story of a young woman in search of a dream. She would love to have a family, but at what cost? Will she decide on practicality or will she follow her heart?
I enjoyed this novel, with characters that were down to earth and easy to relate to. I love the concept of the novel.

Those who took them in to work as farm laborers or household servants were told they were orphans–but was that the truth?
After the tragic loss of their father, the McAlister family is living at the edge of the poorhouse in London in 1908, leaving their mother to scrape by for her three younger children, while oldest daughter, Laura, works on a large estate more than an hour away. When Edna McAlister falls gravely ill and is hospitalized, twins Katie and Garth and eight-year-old Grace are forced into an orphans’ home before Laura is notified about her family’s unfortunate turn of events in London. With hundreds of British children sent on ships to Canada, whether truly orphans or not, Laura knows she must act quickly. But finding her siblings and taking care of her family may cost her everything.
Andrew Fraser, a wealthy young British lawyer and heir to the estate where Laura is in service, discovers that this common practice of finding new homes for penniless children might not be all that it seems. Together Laura and Andrew form an unlikely partnership. Will they arrive in time? Will their friendship blossom into something more?
Inspired by true events, this moving novel follows Laura as she seeks to reunite her family and her siblings who, in their darkest hours, must cling to the words from Isaiah: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God”
My Thoughts: This was an interesting compelling book to read. It is honestly hard to read about children being taken away from their families by those who feel they are making the children's lives better when in fact the children are treated like slaves. This is the hard part of the book to read, but the fact is, is that this was actually happening during this time period. The author has done a tremendous job of bringing the truth out in this novel. Like every story that has hardship in it, this one does have a little hope. I certainly look forward to reading the second book in this series.

As genealogist Jillian tries to uncover enough of Tucker’s family tree to understand his charming nature but reckless resolve, Jillian’s equally charming father, Nolan, cajoles Tucker into giving him ski lessons to get him talking about the suspicious circumstances surrounding his grandfather’s life in St. Louis in the 1930s.
On the surface, Tucker’s family’s history seems too perfect. The secret may lie in the sealed envelope Tucker carries with him at all times—even on the ski slope. Four words don’t seem like much, but in the Greek, it packs a punch.… Jesus chooses the Greek word oida, which expresses total, comprehensive knowledge. It is intimate knowledge that comes from being up close and personal. This knowledge isn’t hazy on the details. It doesn’t struggle to remember. It preserves the particulars. In the mind’s eye, everything is sharp and clear, like a well-taken photograph.” —Chris Palmer
Letters from Jesus: Studies from the Seven Churches of Revelation explores Christ’s warnings to the seven most prominent churches in Asia Minor in the book of Revelation. These letters date back to 95 A.D., but they help us make a fascinating discovery about civilization: life hasn’t changed that much over the last two millennia. Author Chris Palmer illustrates the truths contained in the Letters from Jesus using modern, everyday day examples. The host of the popular podcast Greek for the Week, he unpacks Greek words and phrases in these verses from Revelation with humor, joy, and biblical scholarship.
Why study Greek, even just a little bit? As Chris explains, looking at the New Testament in the original language in which it was written can offer us some beautiful insights into God’s Word. “It’s like reading the Bible in high definition,” he says. Also, “studying God’s Word in the original language forces us to approach it with reverence and awe, humbling ourselves to obey what it says, whether it’s something we want to hear or not.”
⭐⭐⭐
My Thoughts: For those looking for a study on Revelations, this is the study that you need to look into doing. The author Chris Palmer has taken a difficult book, one that many teachers don't teach on today. The author takes the complexity out of the original language which makes it easier to understand. I did find it interesting when the author is telling his readers that the "The USA has numerous cities that share names with the seven churches: Ephesus, Georgia; Smyrna (Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee); Thyatira, Mississippi; Sardis (Georgia, Mississippi, and Ohio); and Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, Illinois,Indiana, Mississippi, New York, and Tennessee). There is also a city named Patmos in Arkansas. However, there are no cities in the USA named after Pergamum or Laodicea."
Chris Palmer. LettersFromJesus (Kindle Locations 336-337). Whitaker House. Kindle Edition. " The thing is he forgot the city of Smyrna in Delaware! Not to worry, this is a great study for all those who are looking to study the book of Revelation. The author makes the original language simple and easy to understand. This is a study that the reader will dig into and want to learn more about God's word. This is a very interesting study that all will enjoy.

What happens when we let the Fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) sit unused? Spiritual Fruit Flies! The Fruit of the Spirit never goes bad but spiritual fruit flies, like worry, temptations, impatience, bad habits, etc. distract us from living out the Spirit’s fruit in our lives.

Focus on what the Spirit is teaching you through your own experiences and stories.

With lots of good teaching and encouragement, the reader will learn to grow and develop their fruits.

Seeing Angels is one of the most in depth examinations of angelic ministry by one of the cutting-edge charismatic leaders in the church today. Joshua Mills goes beyond the usual takes on angels regarding spiritual warfare and explores who they are, how to recognize them, and what they do.
Part I, Understanding Your Angels, is all about understanding who angels are, exploring why they are necessary and how different angels minister comfort, healing, love, prosperity. It reveals who they carry out specific geographic assignments for cities and nations, as well as the more unique and extraordinary assignments they receive. Part II, Discerning Your Angels, explains how to become more aware of the unseen heavenly realm, as well as how to recognize divine intervention when it does reveal itself to human sight. Such manifestations include random strangers, visions, or signs and messengers that believers receive. Joshua also explains the way he has interacted with visions of radiant light, swirling colors, and what he describes as atmospheric shifts. All of this is intended to make believers become more aware of both invisible and revealed spiritual realities. Part III, Working with Your Angels, deals specifically with how to minister alongside these heavenly messengers as they stand watch, provide protection, and administer strength and comfort. This includes recognizing their movements and how to effectively pray for angelic encounters to take place. With a foreword by Patricia King, Seeing Angels is among the most comprehensive teachings on recognizing angelic beings and understanding how to partner with them in ministry.
My Thoughts: This is an engaging book that will be of certain value to those who are interested in angels. We must remember that there are angels all around us fighting a spiritual battle for us. In his book, Joshua Mills not only identifies and explains angels to us but also assists us to see angels for ourselves.
This is an engaging book, and very insightful. We must remember in Hebrews 13:2 "y some have entertained angels unawares." I am certain that we all have and will someday entertain angels in one form or another.
An exciting book for those who are interested in angels.

Things start to look up, though, when she reconnects with Louisa, the girl from across the street. Maybe, just maybe, Louisa won’t mind that Zoey’s always been a bit of a misfit. Louisa’s ex-BFF, however, doesn’t seem too happy to welcome Zoey to the neighborhood. And when they all end up at church camp together, it’s not just a matter of whether or not Zoey can fit in…it becomes a firsthand lesson in what it really means to “love your enemy.”
When the school year begins, Zoey’s terrified to go without Louisa—who’s out with a nasty flu. The same enemies she made over the summer are there to haunt her, but she and another new girl stick together…and even seem to find a place among the in-crowd. But is this who Zoey wants to be? Are they really her friends? Who’s going to stick beside her when cyber bullying leaves her as the odd girl out?
My Thoughts: This is a wonderful series of books for young "tweenage" girls. Zoey is an interesting young lady who is not your typical girl. Zoey feels what most young people feel when they move into a new place, that is how to fit in and make friends. But there's Kayla, the girl who just can't seem to like Zoey at all.
Zoey learns to deal with a bully and learns that just like Christ loved everyone, we should also.

The author uses personal circumstances to help illustrate how we can be free of these toxic and toxic thoughts and image of ourselves. Through this study and journaling we learn to make healthy choices for our lives.

When college student Samantha Lawrence takes her eyes off the road for just a few seconds to send a text, she swerves out of her lane and hits Kevin Wyland as he rides his bicycle. In a panic, she drives away.
After the crash, Samantha tries to find out who the rider is and the status of his injuries. She is shocked to discover that she knows him. Not only does she shop at the pet supply store he and his wife own, they are both regular customers of Joyful Cup, a popular neighborhood coffee shop, and friends with the owner, Joy Shepherd.
Consumed with overwhelming guilt and fear of criminal charges, Samantha decides to do whatever it takes to avoid being identified as the hit-and-run driver. Kevin struggles with anger, bitterness, and a crisis of faith as he embarks on the slow process of recovering from his serious injuries.
As their lives intertwine with increasing frequency, Samantha and Kevin both turn to Joy for advice and guidance. Can she help them find the forgiveness and peace they need?
This is a heartwarming story with a powerful message of forgiveness that will make you smile even as it brings tears to your eyes.
My Thoughts: This is a compelling story of forgiveness, learning to let go and of course making choices. Life is all about making choices, whether they be the right ones,or learning to deal with the wrong choices in our lives.
This is a story of how one young woman dealt with her choices and the consequences of it. I liked the advice that was given throughout the novel. The reader can gain I right from the novel.
One thing I hope the readers take away from the novel is how dangerous texting and driving can be.
A wonderful read that was hard to put down....more

My Thoughts: This is a wonderful story about healing. It teaches us not to judge people, not knowing what their life events have been or where it's taken them. This story introduces the readers to equine therapy which allows the abused learn to trust and love again.
The characters in the story were very believable and the reader feels empathy for them. The writer engages the reader and keeps the storyline moving. It was a joy to read. It is also a story about turning to God and trusting Him in everything.
This is a great story for those who love horses and cowboys. It may even lead to an interest in equine therapy....more

It is 1971. Eighteen year-old Carrie Falconer goes to college and joins the rowing team, where she receives praise and popularity for the first time. She also finds her first boyfriend. Not just anyone, but the heart-throb men’s crew captain! As coxswain of the varsity squad, she leads her team to four gold medals, allowing them to qualify for Nationals. However, while pursuing her collegiate dreams, she has left behind most of her traditional religious beliefs. While preparing for the National tournament, she is hit by a life changing consequence and is forced to decide between pleasing her team or letting them down by following what she believes to be the right path.
My Thoughts: This is an outstanding novel. It's something that a lot of Christian students go through when they leave home for college. A world full of choices and pressures from the secular world. This novel touches on some difficult subjects which I believe the author handled really well. This is a story about a young Christian woman who gets caught up in finding love and getting the recognition she's never had before. Carrie is determined to hold to her convictions, even though she finds she is being pressured by her new friends on the crew team. This was a really good novel. With a few twists in the plot, it really holds the readers' attention until the end of the story. It was easy to identify with the characters and it was interesting to learn about the rowing competitions. Without giving too much of the story away, I was pleased with the end choices that Carrie made. The author deals with the subject in the storyline, amazingly well. I truly enjoyed this novel and feel others will as well. I look forward to reading more from Merrijoy Wennerlind Buist....more

A clean romantic suspense novel that grips you from the very beginning and won’t let you go! The Vacant House is an unforgettable adventure. Read it today, if you have plans to stay up all night.
My Thoughts: Ths is an amazing murder mystery. There are so many twists and turns to it. Just when you think you have it figured out, the author Tamara Cooper presents another angle. The readers will enjoy Sophie O'Brion a mystery writer who gets caught up in a real-life mystery with her old flame Burke Maguire. I honestly can't praise this book enough! It kept me on the edge until the very end. Not only filled with suspense, but there is a sense of comedy that the reader can see through the characters that give some comic relief to the story. I can't wait for the second book in the series to arrive!...more

She possesses a unique gift for music and has excelled on the opera stage in Italy. As a philanthropist, she’s adored from America to Europe. But Miss Adelaide is about to awaken in a 1918 nightmare. The Great War—and the Great Influenza—knock, and Adelaide finds her uninvited guests more than unwelcome. They threaten her life and alter her identity and purpose. Snatched from a quiet life in an Italian villa, Miss Adelaide is thrust into conflicts others have created. What battle scars will she sustain? And where will love lead her? In The Awakening of Miss Adelaide, war and peace, laughter and heartache, love and loss come together to ignite a fresh fire that reveals one woman’s hidden needs and potentials. What will gaining a fresh understanding of herself require of the Angel of the Opera?
My Thoughts: a powerful story that takes us to the Great War, influenza and more. Linda Davis has captured this era completely and gives the reader a glimpse of what life was like. Our main character is a privileged prima donna who finds herself reflecting on her life and what God wants her to do after she "loses" the greatest gift that God has given her. This is a story that will captivate readers to the very end.
This is not a story you want to miss, it has history, mystery and of course a woman searching for love and purpose in life. I certainly look forward to reading more from Linda Brooks Davis in the future....more

The only kind of life Brighton Turner understands is the one she has endured within the dreary walls of a rural Pennsylvania asylum. A nurse has thoughtfully educated and raised Brighton, but she has also kept vital information from her in order to keep her close. Brighton befriends a boy whom she calls Angel—he doesn’t know his name—and as the two of them learn more about what lies beyond the walls they call home, they fight for their release and eventually escape.
However, the world outside the only place they’ve ever known is not what they expect. They have no real names, no money, and no help—and they must rely upon the kindness of strangers as they walk and hitchhike from Pennsylvania to Michigan to find their last hope of a home.
This heartbreaking journey, narrated in gorgeous prose, explores what it means to belong—and to scour the universe with fresh eyes for the brightness within.
My Thoughts: This is an intriguing book. From the very first word, the author gains the readers' attention until the end of the book. The plot is unique as well. The characters are well developed and gain the reader's heart early in the storyline. This is a compelling story of a girl growing up in an asylum and the trials that she had to endure.
The author has done an exceptional job of showing the reader what it was like inside an asylum in the 1930s. I don't want to say too much and spoil the novel, but as I read my heart was with Brighton and hoped she would get out of the asylum. I can not imagine anyone growing up in a place like that. This is a powerful novel that keeps the reader entertained to the very end. If you love a book with some suspense, with some twists and turns in the plot, mixed with some true love; then this is the book for you. I look forward to reading more from Elizabeth Byler Younts.
Co-owner of Undiscovered Treasures, Caroline Gibson particularly relates to the ballerina music box: forever spinning and never going anywhere. ButCo-owner of Undiscovered Treasures, Caroline Gibson particularly relates to the ballerina music box: forever spinning and never going anywhere. But when her dream prince appears, she's sure her prayers have been answered. Trouble is, even though family and friends hint that the local artist is the guy for her, Caroline takes matters into her own hands.
Andrew Carrington has loved Caroline since they were kids. But when contracts suddenly arrive begging for his signature, Andy thinks this just might be the way to win the only woman he can ever love.
And then there's the hitch in both their plans. Someone is stealing Andy's paintings, and why would they when he's an unknown so far? Is something deeper going on neither understand? Caroline must put aside her on-going battle to avoid Andy and his art so they can discover the art thief in Appleton.
My Thoughts: Welcome back to Appleton West Virginia, where we meet up with Toby, his sister Caroline, Toni and Andy. In this storyline, we find that Andy's artwork is being stolen and destroyed. This story focuses mainly on Caroline and her desire to move on in her life. As half-owner of the antique shop "Undiscovered Treasures" which she and she brother Toby own; she really wants to get out of the rut that she feels her life is in. Does she realize that her brother's life long friend actually has an eye for her?
Read the story to find out more about who stole the paintings and if Andy will win Caroline's heart.
I love this small town and the people who are in it; Caroline, Toni, Starli and the rest of the gang. You know they will always keep you entertained and on your toes. It's not a sleepy town; there is always something happening in Appelton West Virginia!
Carole Brown knows how to spin a tale of suspense and mystery, with just enough romance. I really love to read about this little town and all that happens in it. I am sure readers will feel the same once they start reading. I can't wait for more from Carole Brown.
