Minor Spoilers Alert!
After a few stimulating and equally puzzling interactions, Warren deciphered the mystery that was bitchy Bridgette fairly early on. Bridgette definitely had a bad hand dealt to her. I loved how Warren broke down her walls and taught her how beautiful and fulfilling mutual consensual sex and adult love could be.

Favorite scene: When Warren gets Bridgette to tacitly acknowledge they have feelings for each other and to agree on not bringing any man but him home.
One of my favorite quotes: ‘She’s so frustrating. She’s so damn unpredictable. She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl and absolutely everything I need.’ Warren
Although Warren was a supporting character in Maybe Someday (Maybe #1), he was hands down my favorite. I could cheer on his hooking up with Bridgette because there was a no-strings attached vibe going on and therefore no guilt. I love that Author Colleen Hoover decided to give his story more page time. And I loved the silliness of the prank war as seen from Warren’s POV....more

At the end of April 2020, I finally finished watching the Shadowhunters TV show adaptation of this entire book series. I'll really miss seeing the book characters in the flesh on screen since the cast, special effects and clever changes were so enjoyable to watch. However, the Shadowhunters TV series finale was so different than my vague recollection of this last book's ending that I felt compelled to reread the book.
My original issues with the audiobook performances, particularly the performance style of Jason Dohring, were mostly solved by bumping up the original 1x playback speed to 1.40x. I'm therefore raising my overall rating to 4 stars. While I understood and even applauded some of the TV adaptation changes, I am so glad I decided to give the final book another listen to re-experience how the author originally ended this exciting series. Also, the sneak peak at the next spin-off series reaffirmed my interest in reading that one eventually as well.

My Original 2015 Audible Guided Audiobook Review:
What did I like best about City of Heavenly Fire? Simon was the best part of COHF. He was just so funny (drunk Simon!) and sincere in this last installment in TMI series. It's been great to see how his character has grown. He got caught up in a magical world because of his love for his best friend, Clary, but he never resented her for it.
What I liked least about COHF was Jason Dohring, the male narrator. His intonation for the 3rd person narrative was rhythmically boring, and I cringed every single time it was his turn to narrate. He did much better with dialogue when he used different accents to help animate his voice. However, he impacted my enjoyment of the story too much overall.
Sadly, I doubt that I would ever listen to this last audiobook again which bums me out since I expected to do audiobook rereads.* // * I'm modifying my original review opinion of Jason Dohring's performance overall since I just read this one for the 2nd time:
What other book might you compare City of Heavenly Fire to and why? I would compare it to The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy, #3) by Deborah Harkness because both books have similar paranormal mythology.
How did the narrator detract from the book? Jason Dohring really needed more direction from the audiobook producer. His intonation for the 3rd person narrative was rhythmically challenging to listen to for approximately 95% of the book. Towards the end, I finally stopped reacting so strongly to his overall narrating style.
Sophie Turner wasn't bad at all, but I was confused as to why she read the 3rd person narrative with a British accent when she could clearly do an American accent and many other accents for dialogue. It didn't bother me because I like the British accent in general, but I didn't remember any of the core group being British.
If this book were a movie would you go see it? Yes, I definitely would. I actually saw the movie adaptation for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones prior to reading the book upon which it was based. I had been on the fence about reading this series because of a certain rumored plot element.
Any additional comments? I enjoyed this last book in the Mortal Instrument overall, but it was my least favorite audiobook read out of the entire series. All the previous audiobooks had better narrators. Review Update: I wouldn't say it's my least favorite now after boosting the speed from 1 to 1.40x since that new playback speed made my second listen 100% more enjoyable....more

Things I still loved: BamThis was my second read of STC which I own on my Nook but my first time reading it via audiobook courtesy of my local library.
Things I still loved: Bambi, Roth’s demon familiar temporarily occupying Layla’s body – love that Bambi used her boob as a pillow and moved around to a very visible spot on Layla any time Zayne or the other Wardens were around
Roth’s snarky comments. And I giggled every time he called Zayne 'Stony' or Layla 'Shorty.' Team Roth forever!
Roth and Layla’s almost frisky times. I really wanted them to consummate the hell out of their attraction, damn it!
And I loved Roth’s three little kittens even if they weren’t as sweet and cute as they looked.
Things that still bugged me: Ugh, Layla and Zayne transition from let’s crush on each other safely from a distance (because hello Layla could kill Zayne) to let’s make out status. If Roth had never been in the picture, then I could’ve cheered for this relationship development. But Roth was always in the picture and that meant everything to me. I just couldn’t accept Layla and Zayne as a romantic couple knowing that. Again, I’ll be Team Roth no matter the outcome of the fan vote for Every Last Breath (The Dark Elements #3) which I’ll finally be starting today now that my audiobook reread is done.

What did you love best about White Hot Kiss? I loved the uniqueness of The Dark Elements universe, the complexity of the different supernatural beings, and the fact that these paranormal characters had moral dilemmas to resolve in addition to very relatable emotional journeys.
What other book might you compare White Hot Kiss to and why? I would compare this one favorably to Obsidian, another YA paranormal novel written by this same author. Both have a unique supernatural universe, well developed characters with snarky, sexy and humorous dialogue. Each story drew me in immediately, and I eagerly dove into the sequel for each.
What does Saskia Maarleveld bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? She added the nuanced emotional tones to each character and did dialect accents that I didn't hear internally when I read the e-book.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? Who knew gargoyles and demons could be so badass and sexy?
Any additional comments? One of my favorite scenes takes place after Layla and Roth team up, and it demonstrates one of many reasons why I loved this story:
‘He moved so fast there was no chance to prepare myself. One second he was there, and then he was curving a hand around the nape of my neck. “You need something,” he said, and when I stared at him, he added, “Your face.”
“My face?”
“It’s in need of my kisses.”
I started to laugh, but his lips found mine as if they were made specifically to do so. My mouth parted on a gasp and the kiss deepened, stealing my breath. His fingers dug into my neck in a firm hold. Time slowed to a crawl and his mouth never left mine, his lips soaking up my responses like he was starved for water. The kiss felt good-really good–and it made me think of what we’d done back in his loft.
But reality got in the way. When he did pull back the slightest bit, he rested his forehead against mine. Those beautiful eyes were closed. “We need to get out of here and take a crack at the book.”
This was my 2nd read of White Hot Kiss but my 1st time reading it via audiobook. I'll definitely be rereading the sequel, Stone Cold Touch immediately, also via audiobook, in preparation for the third and final novel, Every Last Breath (available July 28, 2015). ...more

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? Yes. I would recommend because it was a perfect sequel. I loved it just as much as I did on my first read of it. Tenley and Hayden had some important issues to work through both individually and as a couple. I just totally got Hayden. And as in Clipped Wings, I absolutely loved Hayden's sense of humor. I could also easily sympathize with his OCD organizational mania.
What other book might you compare Inked Armor to and why? Breakable by Tammara Webber because Lucas/Landon has a similar tragic past like Hayden does. Both men reflect on past events and behavior as they try to heal from it and embrace the young woman that has entered each of their lives so unexpectedly.
Which scene was your favorite? The ‘I’m still mad at you scene’ in Ch. 8 told from Hayden’s POV:
“I told you it wasn’t a good idea, but you didn’t listen, did you?” I was rerouting the anger into sexual aggression. I shifted in the cradle of her hips; my erection nestled right where I wanted it.
“I’m sorry. I missed you.” Her hands moved down my back and under the waistband, nails digging into my ass.
“Then you should have come back sooner.”
“I wanted to.”
“I don’t want lip service. You shouldn’t have left me here without any fucking clue as to why you were gone. You should have done something about it.”
“Then let me show you.” Tenley tried to slip a hand between us and get to my cock.
“Oh, no, you don’t.” I threaded my fingers through hers and brought her arm up over her head, pinning it to the bed, and did the same with the other one, clasping them together with one hand so I had the other one free. “I’ll give it to you when I’m damn good and ready.”
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? ‘We would be each other’s armor.’
Any additional comments? This was a re-read for me and my first via audiobook. Narrators, Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter were great, a huge relief. I seriously didn't want Hayden & Tenley's story to end yet again on my 2nd read. I love when that happens! I predict several audiobook rereads in my future. ...more
I loved the overall creative complexity, the interludes that showed what happened in the past, and how annoyingly good the devil was as the villain. However, I felt slightly let down by the conclusion. I’m not sure what more could have happened, but I expected a bigger showdown and a less ambiguous dialogue scene between Cam and Lilith. Perhaps Author Lauren Kate went that route to leave an opening for another chapter in these two young lover’s journey. If so, I’m definitely down for more.
Narrator Justine Eyre did a really good job making each character’s personality distinct. The songs at the end of the audiobook format were a nice bonus, particularly the first one since it tied in so well with dialogue from the ending scene. ...more

Random elements that I didn’t like much: ☽The slow pacing ☽The weird dichotomy of old-fashioned/modern behavior and language ☽The depraved older male lover falls for the younger, inexperienced woman and the forbidden romance trope in general; the former rarely appeals/works for me, but I heard a lot about this one that made me curious ☽Narrator John Morgan’s sometimes odd vocal interpretation for Julianne
Random things that I liked: ಌThe intellectual analysis of Dante’s Inferno ಌRichard’s definition of lovemaking ಌReflective observations made by Gabriel, Julianne and even Rachel
Favorite romantic moment: “Of course you can look after yourself. You’ve been doing a damn good job of it since you were a little girl. But you don’t have to be alone any more. You have me now. I want to spoil you and make extravagant gestures because I care for you.” He moved uncomfortably. “I can’t say everything I feel. All I can do is show you.”

Zach and Moira's love story is seriously one of my favorites, so I jumped at the chance to read it again. This time around I chose to read it via audiobook while two of my book buddies read it via e-book. I loved Zach's initially more primitive and very alpha behavior and his transformation into a more complex man as he was reintroduced to modern American culture. He never lost his uncivilized nature completely as Dr. Moira assisted him with his adjustment. He also had a little bit of fun help from YouTube and the internet, ha! Fortuitously, Moira was the perfect match for him, easily understanding the challenges Zach faced while also inspiring him to embrace the more emotional side of connecting with her and a new possible future in a civilized culture.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not? Definitely. Jorjeana Marie's narrating style fits this story perfectly. As long as she's the narrator, I'll keep reading the series via audiobook format.
Would you recommend If You Dare to your friends? Why or why not? Yes, I'd recommend it to friends who enjoy a good thriller. It was believable and well executed even though I would have preferred a slightly different outcome.
What does Jorjeana Marie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? She added that extra layer of animation that I may not have had running through my head if I'd read the novel with my own two eyeballs.

I enjoyed how wealthy businessman Gabriel Bishop, a former pro-rugby player and a physically big guy, showed a lot of savvy and patience in his pursuit of petite, mousy Charlotte Baird. Her transformation from a quiet, invisible mouse into a confident personal assistant able to wrangle the "T-Rex" (aka Gabriel) helped her to become just as confident as a woman who could express and act on her sexual desires. Both characters had a demon from their past that they had to deal with over the course of their courtship. I admired how both of them insisted on helping the other do so. Their demons were laid to rest in a satisfying manner. And who wouldn't want an extended family like Gabriel's or a best friend like Molly?
Audiobook narrator Justine O. Keef did a great job and really amplified the humor apparent in the chapter titles and all throughout Charlotte and Gabriel's love story. I needed that because my contract work as an executive assistant really sucked the life out of me this week.

I really liked these two thirty-something year old characters together as a couple. Professional mediator Farrah’s pain over how her ex-husband betrayed her and made her determined to avoid emotional attachment was completely understandable. A card carrying member of his god-brothers' bachelor club, Xavier also had a past relationship do a number on him. Neither of them wanted anything heavy from each other until they did. I enjoyed how these two figured out it was time to move on from their past hurts and give their casual yet passionate affair a second chance at developing into a mature and healthy relationship with the potential of forever.
I used to read a lot of these Harlequin type contemporary romances in middle school, and Bachelor Unleashed reminded me why I was so addicted to them back then. Garrett toddler Patsy really stole George’s role as the young star in this one. I loved her obsession with Tim and smiled hugely each time she referred to him as "hon" and "mines" - too freaking cute! Unfortunately, I really hated how male narrator MacLeod Andrews read George's voice the few times he popped up during Tim's POV chapters. Narrator Jorjeana Marie is one of my favorite female narrators, so I have no complaints with her performance whatsoever. And I loved how she read George's and Tim's voice during Alice's POV chapters.
Tim’s sober efforts and his journey into responsible new adulthood read as very realistic to me. I especially loved how he tried to decipher what Cal wanted or was thinking. I liked how Alice, one of the most responsible people on the planet and a Garrett used to subbing for her two very likable but fertile parents, had to learn that Tim didn’t need her mothering him. This is a mature young adult/new adult novel with only a little heat, but that seemed appropriate to me. Damaged Beckett and dedicated lawyer Cat were an interesting pairing. Their connection was both combative and combustible. Her ex-boyfriend Cole didn’t seem to understand what “we’re done” really meant and ends up being a major thorn in Cat’s side. The three story elements combined for a satisfying conclusion. This entire series moved fast. That’s both good and kind of bad. While reading Hard to Let Go, I kept thinking how often does a group of close friends/family members find love all within 3 weeks of each other? But that is also a typical element for any romantic suspense novel, something that I’d forgotten since I don’t read that sub genre of romance as often any more. The danger in a novel that also moves so quickly and doesn’t take place over a longer period of time is not being able to develop much of an emotional connection to the featured romantic couple which was the case for me with Cat and Beckett.
One of my favorite Jeremy moments:
“I’m full of crazy awesome, Becca,” he said.“You should know that by now.” He winked at her and grinned. “You could even call it Hard Inc. Security. Oh, or Hard Security Inc. Inc. with a C. That’s genius.” A whole lot of crickets. Chuckling, Charlie elbowed Jeremy. “No one ever recognizes genius during its time. Don’t worry about it.”
First Jeremy and then Marz became my two favorite characters and that held true even for Cat and Beckett’s love story. I loved any scene with the Jeremy and Marz in it. And the two Hard Ink gang pets, Cyclops and Elaine also added little moments of humor. I loved that Beckett was determined to the end to befriend Cyclops, too cute! Where does Breaking Up with Barrett rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far? It was good. Narrator Lauren Sweet did a decent enough job, but there was one scene that I wished I’d switched over to my e-book copy to read. It was the first sex scene between Emily and Barrett. First time sex scenes can come off kind of cheesy if the narrator doesn’t get the tone just so. And unfortunately, that was the case here. Her instincts didn’t match how I would have read the scene with my eyeballs. Not her fault of course, but it did diminish those moments between these friends turned lovers a little bit for me. I made sure to go back and reread my e-book copy of that scene and the subsequent intimate scenes between Barrett and Emily.
Who was your favorite character and why? Barrett. I almost melted in a puddle when he thought back to his 8-year old self meeting baby Emily for the very first time. I like how he formulated a plan to be around her more in order to see if he was right about finding his soul mate all those years ago now that they were both mature adults. And I loved how he didn't hesitate to tell her how he felt:
“And if you want to know what’s real, here’s the most elemental truth I know: you’re the love of my life, Emily Edwards. And whatever it takes, I’ll do it. Just to be with you.”
Did the narration match the pace of the story? Yes.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? It was a quick read so I finished it within 24 hours of starting it.
Any additional comments? I'm hooked so I'm definitely eager to read the next English brother's story, Falling for Fitz (The English Brothers #2)....more

Minor spoilers alert!!! This sequel had the drama associated with any ongoing installment of a novel as well as the signature sexy times and a bit of humor as Emmy and Ben discovered what having a committed relationship really entailed. I liked the way the untenable situation with Fiona was handled and the fact that the requisite misunderstanding didn’t drag out for too long. I enjoyed the reappearance of their friends Ellie and Braydon and the introduction to Emmy’s family back in Tennessee.
For a jet setting, young twenty-something year old male, Ben handled falling deeply in love with the sweetly warmhearted, traditional southern Emmy fairly well.
‘Everything about my relationship with Emmy was uncharted territory for me, but I didn’t mind. I guess we’d find out if I was good with parents. It wasn’t her mom I was worried about–I was pretty sure I could win her over. It was her father who had me nervous. And it was the South. Didn’t they shoot first and ask questions later?’ Ben
Of course, Emmy had her moments of extreme doubt, but she came around in a realistic amount of time.
‘Was this really my life? Because a girl could get used to this.’ ~ ‘It didn’t seem to be possible for us to go more than a few hours without sex. I kept waiting for that part of our relationship to cool, but that hadn’t happened yet. He was sexy as hell and my body craved him. I wasn’t about to deny it.’ Emmy

A lot of my favorite moments were a tad risqué with a bit of humor. Narrator Jason Carpenter always excels at infusing the right amount of humor in a scene of that nature. The post wedding scene in the bathroom was simply priceless, for example. I look forward to gobbling up Ellie and Braydon’s shenanigans next in All or Nothing (Love by Design #3). ...more

Audible.com review title: "A new favorite series!"
Where does Working It rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far? Jason Carpenter is currently one of my favorite male audiobook narrators, so I'd classify this audiobook as another new favorite that I will definitely reread via audiobook again someday.
What did you like best about this story? I was surprised by how much I enjoyed some of the more explicit elements of Emmy & Ben's glamorous romance. Author Kendall Ryan put her unique creative stamp on a common romance trope, and in the process managed to impress me with how well she balanced the crazy yet plausible plot with lots of steam.
What does Shayna Thibodeaux and Jason Carpenter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? I don't talk to many people from TN in person to know how authentic Shayna's interpretation was, but I loved her TN accent for Emmy, her British accent for Fiona, and the fact that Shayna had no trouble doing a believable male voice for Ben. Jason always does a fantastic job with humor and sexual angst, and he delivered here as I've come to expect from him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Yes! But I have a habit of only listening to audiobooks while I'm doing other things that don't require a lot of concentration.
Any additional comments? That p-word email scene was fantastic and all of the sexting exchanges were fun and sexy. I wanted to girl slap the perfectly made up British Fiona many times though, grr! And there was a certain sexual practice explored in Working It that blew me away with how well it was done. I'm normally not a fan of that particular practice, so kudos to Author Kendall Ryan for convincing me of its appeal even if it holds none for me in real life....more

Minor spoilers alert!!! Unabridged Audiobook info Narrated by: Christy Romano, Vikas Adam Length: 8 hrs and 52 mins Release Date:06-23-15 Publisher: Audible Studios Ratings: Overall: ★★★★★ | Performance ★★★★★ | Story ★★★★★
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend and have already done so. Female narrator Christy does a particularly nuanced and perfectly balanced narration of both female and male characters effectively animating Elle & Ollie's struggle to embrace their longtime forbidden feelings.
What other book might you compare Kaleidoscope Hearts to and why? I'd compare it to Come to Me Quietly by AL Jackson because they both have a similar theme of forbidden new adult love; both are well written and evoked strong reactions in me. I have read each novel twice now as well.
What does Christy Romano and Vikas Adam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? They added another level of personality to each character and hit the right tones every single time. Their narrations were simply flawless.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? Yes, I loved having all the same feels again as I did when I read the e-book for the first time earlier this year. Mia was so funny! And I literally felt a combination of physical pangs of longing and joy during Elle and Ollie's sometimes clandestine moments together many, many times.
Any additional comments? I've had severe chronic insomnia for weeks now, and I can't typically focus on e-book reading for long while suffering from it. Sadly, my insomnia put my early read of Paper Hearts (Mia and Jensen's full length novel) on a bit of a hold. So this reread via audiobook was perfect. I've never listened to any books narrated by either Christy Romano or Vikas Adam. Both did a great job. In fact, Christy is now one of my favorite female narrators. I definitely look forward to any new book read by either of them. Also, that bathroom scene at Elle's parents' house was incredibly sexy. I was out shopping, but I rewound it several times and had a huge grin on my face each time before moving on to the next crazy moment. ♡ I'm even more eager now to resume my interrupted read of Paper Hearts.

It’s been a while since I read Hopeless where Daniel and Six first appeared as the best friends of Dean and Sky. I enjoyed the first 90% or so of Hopeless, but due to personal triggers I felt drained and deflated by the time I got to the end. Normally, I love male POV novels, but I skipped right over Losing Hope entirely. In spite of all that, I fell pretty hard for Daniel and Six, two clandestine lovers who met under unique circumstances that would have a lasting impact on their young teenage lives. I loved the set up of how they met, became intimate strangers, and then something more in this bite sized novel.
“Because you fist bumped me and I could care less who knows we’re together. I’m not going anywhere and I don’t want to go anywhere so stop thinking I’m into you because I’m not supposed to be into you.” I lift my hands and tilt her face toward mine. “I’m into you because you’re awesome. And because you let me accidentally touch your boob.” Daniel

Plot weaknesses: There are two types of cheating, emotional and physical. For me, I will never understand either type and therefore I don’t have a lot of interest in seeking out and learning the psychology behind either. Consequently, I find this fiction trope completely unappealing. I would have avoided purchasing the autographed paperback if I had understood that this trope would be the one explored. I felt blindsided by the messiness of this group of very likeable characters’ romantic and physical connections.
Writing style: It was very well written without a doubt. Author Colleen Hoover has a consistent, clean and very polished writing style that I can appreciate. This is now my 3rd novel of hers, and I’ve started to see a pattern in the way she writes her POVs. Sometimes I find that pattern irritating; but on the whole, I have nothing but respect for her instincts even if I don’t like the creative direction she may take with a story. The alternating POVs in this new adult novel certainly helped. It also had a net effect of making me less sympathetic to their rationalizations as they skirted and then crossed over the line from platonic love into romantic love and figured out which romantic pairing really had the most merit between the three love interests. Sydney, Ridge and Maggie all took turns pissing me off. Individually, I loved them as characters, each with their own unique quirks and personal struggles.
Favorite Character: Warren – His irreverence and later his concern over his three friends Ridge, Maggie and Sydney balanced out the melodrama of this love triangle tale.
Favorite moment – a lighter one between Ridge and Sydney when they shared negative habits in an ultimately futile attempt to dampen and resist the pull between them:
‘Ridge: Better. I can’t hear my own farts, so sometimes I’ll forget that other people can hear them.
Me: Oh, my God. Yes, this is the type of thing that definitely sheds a different light on you. I think I’ll be good for a while.’
Plot strengths: Both types of cheating (emotional and physical) are analyzed to the nth degree. I appreciate that it wasn’t glamorized in any way. There was also some humor thrown in occasionally, and I loved the concept of Author Colleen Hoover and Griffin Peterson working together to create a book soundtrack. I almost forgot to listen to it, but I eventually made my way over to http://www.maybesomedaysoundtrack.com... in order to hear the songs that Sydney and Ridge worked on during the novel. My favorite song is probably Let it Begin. ♡
That song and the excellent narration by both Zachary Webber and Angela Goethals truly helped me overcome my anger at discovering that I found myself reading a novel focused on cheating and its ramifications. It wasn’t really my cup of tea, but my oratory senses were perfectly content. I think I’d seriously listen to Zach read the phonebook.
Maybe Not (Maybe #1.5) is Warren’s novella story, and I’m really looking forward to discovering the ins and outs of how he and Bridgette came together. And bonus, the audiobook of Maybe Not is narrated by Jason Carpenter who just so happens to be another one of my favorite male narrators. ...more

I kept this gem in my back pocket f4.5 / 5 stars only because security expert Chandler could NOT dethrone baseball player Chad in my heart. *wink*
I kept this gem in my back pocket for a while. I like to keep an unread Jennifer L. Armentrout novel so that I have one to fall back on after I've been adventurous in my reading choices. I wasn't sure how into this one I would be after loving my series favorite Tempting the Player (Gamble Brothers #2) so hard. Fortunately, JLA didn't disappoint me. That scene in the sex club was a stellar way to kick off the push and pull dynamic between alpha Chandler and relationship shy Alana.
It's hard to listen to a male narrated audiobook now that my ears have been permanently seduced by Zachary Webber's outstanding narration. But audiobook Narrator Kaleo Griffith finally grew on me. Initially, I thought it was slightly odd to have a male narrate this last Gamble Brothers' novel. Overall, I liked Kaleo's strong male voices well enough. However, his female voices were a little shaky to me. If I hadn't committed to an audiobook challenge this year, I might have switched from listening to the audiobook to reading my e-book copy only.

Below is one of my many favorite scenes:
‘She was stiff against him, her back too straight and her arms awkwardly stuck between their damp bodies. So cuddling wasn’t her thing?
He wasn’t a big fan of it, either, but strangely, he wanted her beside him, and she was going to have to deal with it.
When he had her where he wanted, he gathered her wrists in his hands and began to massage the skin.
Slowly, as the seconds turned into minutes, Alana relaxed against him. Her breath evened out, and her body melted into his.
There was no way in hell Chandler was letting her go anytime soon.’
As per usual with a Jennifer L. Armentrout novel, I could have easily highlighted and bookmarked lots of feisty exchanges and sexy moments between Chandler and Alana in my e-book copy. ...more

Where does The Secret rank among all the audiobooks Audible.com Review title:"A fantastic conclusion to Ava & Malachi's story!"
Minor spoilers alert!
Where does The Secret rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far? It's one of the best audiobooks I've ever listened to, and I really wasn't quite ready for it to end.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Secret? Ch. 19 - The completion of Ava and Malachi's mating ritual was incredibly beautiful.
Which character – as performed by Zachary Webber – was your favorite? Malachi was my favorite character. I loved his instinct to protect Ava at all costs. I also really enjoyed the suspense surrounding his memory loss, Ava's heritage and Jaron's true purpose in shielding her.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? Malachi and Ava, Rhys and Malachi, and even the black cat definitely made me laugh more than a time or two. I also enjoyed puzzling over Ava's parentage and Jaron's connection to her.

Minor spoilers alerts!!!
What did you love best about The Singer? I loved the dynamic between the Irin (males) and how their roles differed from the Irina (females).
What did you like best about this story? I liked that the mythology of the Irins, Fallen and the Grigori was fleshed out in greater detail with the mystery of why Ava was an Irina at its center. There was also an interesting twist on amnesia and how that impacted Malachi's Irin brothers and Ava. I enjoy a good mystery, so puzzling out Jaron’s role in all of this was a nice challenge.
Which scene was your favorite? I ♡ the meadow scene in Ava and Malachi's dream walking.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? Their reunion and Malachi hearing how much Ava actually loved him were two really beautifully moving moments.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Scribe to be better than the print version? Zachary Webber's narrating talent most definitely enhanced my reading experience. I'm unequivocally addicted to his voice.
Who was your favorite character and why? Malachi was my favorite character. I was intrigued by his role as a Scribe, his dynamic with his fellow Scribes and his warrior skills. I also loved how he bonded with Ava.
What does Zachary Webber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? He brought an added level of nuanced emotion to the story. He truly had a perfect sense of intonation and timing, as well as great dialect dexterity.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? 'Do not fear the darkness.'

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? IfAudible.com review title: "★★★★½ twisty stars, even better than the sequel!"
Minor spoilers alerts!!!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? Unequivocally yes! I would totally recommend this audiobook because the narrators were excellent and because the story itself was such a fascinating character study.
What did you like best about this story? In addition to discovering how Victor's new covert organization was evolving, we also learned some really crazy things about Fredrik, Seraphina and Cassia and their intertwined relationship. I didn't anticipate the biggest twist although others might have or may. I love when a novel's plot direction surprises me without turning me off.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like? Male narrator Luke Daniels was very inventive with his different character voices, and he didn't sound ridiculous doing the female characters. The latter is hard to pull off for any narrator doing the opposite gender's voice, so kudos to both Luke and female narrator Andi Arndt. They both just nailed the narration beautifully! I loved that I was never annoyed when they alternated narrating a POV, and Kate Reinders did a nice cameo narration of Izabel's POV.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? Surprisingly, the ending worked for me. I thought I'd be more upset with it, but Author JA Redmerski laid the groundwork for that outcome so flawlessly that I truly have no complaints.

Any additional comments? Narrator Luke Daniels did have a weird character dialog voice for Fredrik when he picked up the random chick in the bar. It was his only weak scene in my opinion. I'm excited to see that Luke returns to continue narrating Fredrik's POV in Seeds of Iniquity (In the Company of Killers #4). I'll definitely continue my dual e-book and audiobook read of this cool series as soon as I can afford to add the audiobook upgrade....more
