I had read Blue Balls first, I know I’m backwards but I read it a while back now and I knew there was a story for Ry and Mags. I saw this one sitting on my TBR waiting for a cool rainy day and thought why not add the audio to go with it. So I did.
Both these books are written with plenty of humor and loads of banter. Mags wouldn’t be best friends with Sarah if they didn’t have the same wicked comic internal dialogue. And it cracks me up, big time. Even from the opening paragraph waiting for everyone to catch up with the term Clam Jam. Too funny. Maggie relies on her friends as her parents are now passed, and Sarah is her closest person. But Mags still wants someone to cuddle at night, especially after her ex fiancé cheats on her. And now she needs a new roommate, and it’s at this point that Ryland James, who has been crushing on Mags for some time, can make his move and build a strong relationship with her.... but he blurts out he’s gay. It’s not here per se that I had a problem, it is the length of time that it took him to come clean and confess why he was compelled to say it. It takes months and intimate moments to go by before he gets caught out. I’m also disappointed on the time it takes for Mags to forgive him, I didn’t want him to suffer terribly but a bit longer would have been more realistic. I suppose for me, I would have like that he get caught out early in the storyline and then we see him win her trust back and watch their relationship grow that way, in a more honest approach. But all in all, it’s a great story and had me snorting many times. ...more

Ransom North is single and happy to stay that way. His friend Teagan King, who he has incredible banter with, is also single and couldn’t be happier. Their friend group however are all loved up and think these two would make the perfect pair and try their best to show them that everything will be alright if they took their friendship to another level. Ransom and Teagan are aware of the sexual tension, and it’s been building for some time, but they still don’t want to ruin their group’s dynamics so they do the next best thing and have a night of passion to get it out of their system. But when the night is as amazing as theirs, one time is not enough.
I always finish a LB book on a high and this one was no exception. I would have liked to have read more on their relationship with a bit more substance to their story but it was a great read nonetheless. I adore that we got to hear more about the previous couples and where they are at now. And there was an extra special epilogue that made my romantic heart sing. You can’t go wrong with this friends to lovers book. ...more

Do you like independentIf you haven't started this series of standalone books, then you are doing yourself an injustice! Do you like firemen romance? Do you like independent woman? Do you enjoy a great storyline to go with it? Then what are you waiting for, this series is perfect for you.
One of the major factors I love about these books, is that they overlap with the other books and it gives them a more organic semblance. And because of this, we get to see the characters from the earlier books come back into play. Each book ends that little further into the future to give us more of their overall HEA's. This book, this couple, are my favourite and I can't say whether it is Jared or Presley or just both of them together that makes it so for me.
What I love about TG's writing is that she can create self-sufficient woman, not make them aggressive to get their point across, but still smart enough to know that if there is danger around, it is ok to allow others to help her, even if it is a male, and it does not make her weak. Same goes for her leading men, they don't have to up all up in their ladies faces being dominate and alpha. They know how to treat their significant others with respect and admire their achievements. This couple are the prime example of how a book couple should be. TG also has a wicked sense of humor, that is similar to my own, and I love it. Its fun and flirty but also sarcastic and mischievous. Bennett has a lot of nicknames for Jared... and they are hilarious.
I am not sure if there is going to be a spin off, or one complete standalone novel relating back to these, but I am desperate to know if Rae and her work buddy finally hit it off. I am also intrigued to find out if Tibbs reaches his own HEA and there are a few rookies that seem interesting as well. Bring on more from this firehouse!...more

I had been waiting along time for Vann's book, as I loved him as soon as he made an appearance in book one. Dillon has been growing on me with each book and I didn't realise her story was going to rip me apart as much as it did. She had a troubled teen life, and from that it has shaped her adulthood and made her more aware of her surroundings. As a couple, after Killian and Vera, these two could me my next favourite, but it is so hard to pick, as each and every one of them has moved me to cherish them all.
Vann is the big brother to Vera, and he is very protective and supportive of everything she does. When he meets Dillon they are indifferent to each other but over time he has the same feelings but it is definitely nothing brotherly about them either. They became friends with each interaction they have, and by the end, they were each others everything. For Dillon, she was just trying to survive from day to day as sometimes it was overwhelming. Not just becoming Executive Chef at Bianca, her brothers restaurant, but also navigating her entire life. Vann has a way to make you trust him and feel at ease, and did this for Dillon even before they became solid friends. Then one night they took it to a whole new level and from there, even though it gets complicated for Dillon, their time spent together develops into something special. I am sad for two reasons, one that she never confided in Ezra on that night six years prior because I think he would be another milestone for her to achieve and move past it, and he would be one more person she could completely trust being her brother. Vann was exceptional in the way he handled looking after Dillon when she broke down, it only made me love him more. Secondly, I am sad that this is the end of the series. I have a massive book hangover with this gang, one that will compel me to come back and do a read of this series in the future....more

From the main characters to the secondaries which there were a few. Indie and Lincoln are juniors in College and both have meddling moms who think that they would make the cutest couple and try their hardest to achieve that. This is not just a college romance, it is an epic love story that involves trust, loyalty, honestly, commitment and love.
Indie is quick witted, smart and a great athlete. She is on the women's soccer team at Brentwood and has moves that Lincoln has noticed. Linc is the pitcher on the baseball team and is set to leave college before senior year as a first draft pick and head off to the minors. They have an incredible year together that forms a bond that will be hard to break. I adored Lincoln, just loved him. He was so attentive and supportive of Indie and her achievements, just as much she was for him. He was talented in many areas but his greatest attribute was his devotion to his boys, his moms and especially Indie. The banter between them was funny and had me giggling out loud along with them. I am not an ugly crier with books, but I came damn close with this one, on a few occasions. Their love story was one that I felt was organic and dealt with Indies baggage in a natural way, instead of rushing them to their HEA. But when they finally got there, I did have a sigh of relief that she understood what her emotions and deep feelings meant. I knew all along that Lincoln loved Indie, even if he wasn't aware of it from day one, but he was quicker than Indie realising what they had together.
Another thing that I loved, was we got a cameo from Maddox Paige, and it help set the time frame between the books. I want to go back to these secondary characters for just a bit, as many of them are going to be in standalone books coming up. I am desperate to know what is happening with Asher and his yellow dress gal. Of course the same goes for Scarlett and Hutton. Then there is Hartley and Alice, there is definitely more to that story I need to know. I am ready to go back to Brentwood, and witness the next amazing couple....more
