As I have said in a previous review I love historical fiction. I love being transported to another time and place. After reading Chakana I was thrilled to read Guardian Of Paradise, and I wasn't let down. This was just as good as Chakana, and I enjoyed every second of it. W.E. Lawrence really knows how to transport you back in time and take you on crazy adventures with his characters.
Kira, much like Kate, was a strong female character that cares about the people that live on the island with her. She's wary when Captain Darcy Coleman and his crew arrive on the island. The natives don't think anything is wrong, but Kira knows better. She has a bad feeling about them and she knows that these new strangers are going to use the people she holds dear. And she was right.
Enter Trevor, the handsome young man who Kira falls for, and who falls for her. He wants to help her keep the people of her island safe. He cares for her and while she doesn't want to see her hurt. It takes Kira a while to warm up to him, but in the end Kira falls for him and he helps her and her friend in saving their people.
I highly recommend this book. If you love history, tropical islands, hot guys, adventure, and action. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more until the very end. ...more

Add in the fact that it is similar to James Bond and Indiana Jones and I was sold. When I received it in the mail I started to read it immediately. I could not put it down. It was just as good as I thought it was going to be if not better. I was really happy about that because sometimes you get a book and you think it's going to be great and then it isn't, well that wasn't the case with Chakana.
I really liked the character of Kate, she was a strong female and I liked how she would do anything for her family. She's a policewoman who goes to Peru to help her brother with a mystery, but ultimately finds that he's missing. Her and Dr. Charlie are trying to solve the mystery of the box that her brother sent her before he went missing.
Enter James Fleming a British secret agent who has met Kate before. She saved his life and then he saved her from artifact smugglers. They grow closer over the course of the events that happen. They make a good team, and they were quite cute together.
I highly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes World War II era novels, Indiana Jones, James Bond, or action packed novels. W. E. Lawrence crafted a lovely story that had me on the edge of my seat....more

I feel like Susan has accepted the fact that she is now a Death and will probably never see her family again. And in an attempt to become more grown up her and Billy stop using their nicknames and start going by Susan and Will. The relationship between Will and Susan changes from the first book, they start dating. I saw this coming, Susan was starting to have feelings for Will at the end of the first book, and you can tell Will has feelings for her even before you get to the second book and start reading the chapters from his perspective. There were many twists and turns throughout the book, and each character starts to realize something about themselves. Susan is still struggling being the only girl among an all male race of Deaths, but she is tired of the way they treat her and starts to defend herself. Frank is coming to terms with his powers and what they are costing him. And Will is learning more about himself. I have liked watching Susan grow into the person she is now, and I think she is a really strong character that anyone could look up to. Overall it was a really enjoyable read that had my interest from start to finish. And that cliffhanger! It makes me want to read the final installment even more now. I would highly recommend this series because it is different and highly entertaining. ~AJ...more

I received this for an honest review. When the book first started I wasn't sure how I was going to like it. The blurb had me hooked, but in the beginning I wasn't sure how I felt about Suzie. I felt bad for her, she was taken away from her family to this strange world to become a Death, and here's the kicker: there are no other girls. How would you like to be surrounded by boys all the time? I know I would hate it. And they don't like Suzie too much either. Now I know I said I started out not liking Suzie too much, I didn't quite know how I felt about her, but once we got to the world filled with Deaths she grew on me. I felt like this was so unfair for her to be dragged to a world where there are no other girls, and she can't visit her family. It doesn't seem fun. I also liked Jason and Billy who were her roommates, yes she has to room with boys. They were cool, and I loved Jason from the moment that I met him, he was adorable. At this point you're probably wondering why this world is just filled with boys right? Why is she rooming with boys? Why aren't there other girls? It is because girls are not allowed to be Deaths. The last time a girl was a Death let's just say it didn't end well. So the guys aren't too trusting of Suzie and treat her kind of poorly, all except Jason and Billy. It was interesting to follow along with Suzie's journey and how she handled things. For so long she wanted to go home, but at the end of the book she feels differently, she feels at home and she finally accepts her role as a Death. I would recommend this book, it is different from anything else that I have read. If you start out like I did and don't know how you feel about this book just stick around. Get passed the first chapter and deeper into the world of the Deaths and you may feel differently. I hope that you enjoy this book as much as I did. Rating: Five Stars ~AJ ...more

If I didn't like Olivia so much I'd be shoving her out of the way so that I could have him. But I think she's perfect for him. I thought that this was a great continuation of the first book. I've grown attached to these books. They have become a guilty pleasure of mine. I finished the book in a day, I could not put it down nor did I want to. It was good, so freaking good. I love these characters and I find myself connecting with Olivia. I feel like I can under stand her. I also have anxiety issues, not for the same reasons and not as extreme as hers, but I get what it's like for her. I get what its like to dread something and to feel these sudden moments of panic. So I can really connect with her, and it's refreshing to meet a character who also suffers from anxiety, I have yet to find another one. Pick up this book, pick up this series because you will not regret it. ~Ariadne...more

Him or Kaidan? That is the question. Overall I loved this book. It was really good, and well written. I could really relate with Hayley in some ways. I have anxiety problems too, and when she would become anxious I could really feel for her. Although I'm not as bad as her. I would totally recommend it is such a fun read and I could not stop smiling and laughing. You need to read this book, and One Condition by Nova Raines. The series is written by two different authors. Kaidan's series is by Nova Raines and Devon's is by Mira Bailee. Now buy it and read it my good people! ~A...more

At first I thought he was a complete and utter jackass, but in this one he grew on me. I liked what I read about him. I think him and Hayley are perfect for one another. I felt bad for Hayley. she's going through so much shit. The paparazzi aren't giving her any space and they're all up in her business. She's going through a rough time and she just can't seem to catch a break. She lost her dad (although she wasn't all that close with him in the first place), she has to steal a diamond necklace from one of her father's ex-girlfriends in order to get her inheritance, and to top it all off she has drug dealers coming after her because her dad owed them money. So Hayley's kind of going through a rough time right now. I would totally recommend this book. It was really good, and I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment. Pick up this book because it is super good. ...more

The book ended on a cliffhanger and I need to find out what happens next... I seriously hate cliffhangers. They are life ruiners. I almost threw my Nook against a wall. That would have been very bad... I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves romance and hot guys. I loved Hayley's character. I felt bad for her because she's going through all this shit, and then even more shit gets dumped onto her. She is by far one of my favorite fictional characters. One of the best books I have read in a long time. I can't wait to read the one about Kaidan's brother Devon. I'm about to sink my teeth into that one right now... Grrrr.... I wish I had the second one that has to deal with Kaidan and Hayley!!! ~Ariadne...more
