Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors and while this wasn't my favorite of her novels, I have faith that the rest of the series will be awesome. I've noticed that often the first book in her series' starts off with a lot of plot building and that by the end of the series I'm usually in love. That said I can't wait for the next book in the Abandon series!...more

Prom and Prejudice, as the title suggests, is a retelling of Jane Austin's classic. I loved every minute of the book but I usually do when their is a Mr. Darcy involved.
Prom Prejudice is set at an elite boarding school in Connecticut. Lizzie is a scholarship student who doesn't fit in with the other rich girls. Her only friends are Jane and fellow scholarship student Charlotte. As in the original, scandals with class and misunderstandings ensue. Eulberg adds in the culture of mean, rich girls into the situation which fits very well. Eulberg's retelling of the story is fun and fast paced and very true to the original. For some this piece might be just a little to perfect, but overall a quick, fun read....more

She is terrified of looking stupid, not being able to speak French, not fitting in and leaving behind her friends. She of course meets new friends and develops a crush on her new friend St. Clair. He may or may not be interested in her as well but as always seems to happen, he has a girlfriend. The story tells of Anna's school year in Paris, her conflicts with her friends (and enemies and family), and of course what happens with the incredibly cute St. Clair.
Anna kept me on my toes the whole time, wondering 'will they get together.' Its a wonderful contemporary romance with just the right amount of humor, romance, and Parisian descriptions. I found myself feeling like a teen again, recalling the memories of trying to find meanings in looks and touches from guys. Anna's character seems realistic with both positive and negative (she is a little whiny at times) traits. I can't wait for the next book by Stephanie Perkins. ...more

Jane is one of those people who tends to watch life from the sidelines; she has always seen herself as plain and the unequal of her siblings. Things begin to change when Jane is forced to drop out of college and find work after the loss of her parents. She finds work as a nanny to one of the world's biggest rock stars Nico Rathburn. So Jane sets off to Thornfield Park where she finds a world unlike her own. She makes friends with those around her, even her boss. Not everything is perfect around Nico's estate and the house seems to have some strange secrets. Jane soons finds herself in the the middle of it all and is forced to look inside herself and to get off the sidelines of life.
Jane had me on the edge of my seat even after I looked up the ending for the original Jane Eyre (that might be cheating... but it is a different book). I had to know what was going to happen, how/if she would find love, and if she would finally come to except herself. I did find Jane at times to be slightly annoying; I wanted to shake her and say "you are worth it, now get over it and be happy." There were also some unrealistic plot elements but overall I loved the book.

It wraps up the Queen of Babble series perfectly. I found this book impossible to put down and it was by far my favorite in the series. What I love about the series is that I honestly hated Lizzie in the first book. I thought she was really annoying and needed to stand up for herself. Well she has and I love her! My only complaint is that I want more Lizzie. ...more

When I finished the book I was left feeling pretty much the opposite; slightly dissapointed by the plot but overall impressed by the young Kody Keplinger.
The story begins with 17 year old Bianca, a smart, loyal and very cynical girl. Bianca, like many girls/women, feels like she is the ugly duckling in her group of pretty friends. Her fears are recognized when the gorgeous and slutty Wesley Rush calls Bianca a duff (designated ugly fat friend). Bianca, who also hates Wesley, responds by dumping her coke all over him (which he deserved). Bianca's life continues to get rough as things between her parents quickly fall apart and Bianca is left feeling alone. Instead of turning to her friends she instead finds a fun distraction in Wesley as they have numerous casual hook-ups. All seems to be going well until Bianca realizes that she is beginning to have feelings for Wesley and that you can't always run away from your problems.
My issues with the story came more from Bianca's character herself. I found her too cynical and was slightly annoyed that she continues to hook up with someone who calls her "duffy". For such a fierce character her lack of self-esteem seemed a little off, although not completely unrealistic in the world of super skinny models. I also had a hard time believing the beyond happy ending. Overall a good read but not one I'll probably pick up again.

It is a mix of romance, suspense, and lite super natural. Violet has the ability to sense dead bodies of people who have been murdered and she can also sense the dead person's presence on their killer. Violet also has a huge crush on her best friend Jay. To top it off their is a serial killer loose in town who prays on young girls.
The novel itself is a little too predictable but enjoyable to read. The first half is full of suspence and kept me on my toes. Unfortunately it slowed in the last part as the story became a little too caught up in the romance. The story could have used just a little more character development and (this may sound wierd) more details about what happened to the missing girls. Overall quick, enjoyable and suspenseful read. Will recommend to many ya girls....more
