The story moves on to focus on Albus but soon veers off to focus on Harry, Hermione and Malfoy. It seems as if the inevitable guilt feeling and the friendship of their sons guilted Malfoy into agreeing with Harry and even showing hints of friendship. The plot was thin, the story not uniform in its focus in characters and it seemed as if they could not give enough time to everyone to do a proper job. What I did not like, was Ron being shown in a bad light as someone who was not important anymore and who had been relegated to someone who was shabby and not really involved in the goings on around him. But, even though the story had its faults, it was still a part of the Harry Potter series and we would be incomplete without reading it once it is out in the world. In Albus Severus Potter, we could see glimpses of a new Harry again, who seemed to have inherited all the internal struggles of his father plus a few more. And with stirrings of Voldemort returning, Harry's scar twitching, revisits from Snape and Umbridge, the Triwizard tournament, Moaning myrtle and time travels, we sure felt like we had jumped back again into a world we had once loved and lost. ...more

The narrative it creates is just so amazing, I mean you feel the allure of power, revenge, power again, the justification of things and then disgust, horror, fear till it all flips the narrative. A book that combines the past, the future, the magical and the mundane flawlessly and manages to intertwine social issues such as LGBT, scientific progress, religion and the state, slavery, prostitution, women rights, democracy and so on. It was an absolute page turner from the very beginning. I loved the character of the lead heroine and the way she grew to a strong woman. The book stresses on the fact that beauty is not all to be coveted and how beauty is in the beholder. But most of all, the book is absolutely relatable. Our lead heroine is warm, very every day in her beauty has an avid love for books and has her weak moments and tantrums. She is an idealist under the pressure of making compromises, she is a woman who has to prove herself to be capable. The book is utterly riveting from the start to the end, the quotes and the sayings send a chill through you and you will continue dreaming about this long after you have finished it. The second book is in the post now and I cannot wait to receive it....more

The book matures wonderfully well with Lexi having to make up three years that retrograde amnesia took away from her, in a short span of a few months. A new husband who is glittering like gold, a penthouse, louis vuttons and a makeover, she sadly learns that those are not enough to make up for all that she has lost. The book is fast, entertaining as well as gives us a peek into a life of a person with retrograde amnesia from a very different perspective. Makes you wonder right about your own. ...more

Three cousins, a legacy and an evil to battle. While I did not like the roundabout language of the book, I loved the plot and the setting. Moreover, the pace of the book definitely increases after the first chapter and it takes you along for a very very cosy ride. The author stunningly manages to make us visualize the quiet woods, the cosy fires, the horses and the naturalness of the magic. This book is a good combination for fantasy-nature-magic-horse-romance lovers. It is about love, friendship, family and finding your niche in the world as much as it is about magic....more

Erika Johansen delivers another masterpiece with craftful story telling, strong characters, a tight plot as well as some unexpected surprises. The book weaves together the world as we know it and a fantastical world we can never even imagine seamless and effortlessly. Erika switches between worlds, languages and the way she tells her story in an effortless manner. It is not artificial, Heros and Villains are not treated as good and bad, but it brings out every aspect of a human being leaving us quite confused. At the end of the book, you could relate to every one present except some of the assholes, and I am left wondering what the next book will bring with bated breath....more
