Review by Trinette Dungee The devastating crash that took the lives of the Pittsburgh Titans left an effect on everyone including Hendrix Bateman. Deem Review by Trinette Dungee The devastating crash that took the lives of the Pittsburgh Titans left an effect on everyone including Hendrix Bateman. Deemed one of the “lucky three” along with two other teammates who were not aboard that fateful crash Hendrix in the mindset of “life is short”, so he’s making every minute count. Including getting out of an unhappy and toxic relationship and pursuing one Stevie Kisner. Hendrix no stranger to catastrophic loss, since he suffered the loss of his sister he’s all to familiar how precious and fragile life can be. Because of that experience and the help of therapy, Hendrix is surprisingly well adjusted in coping with the loss. He’s definitely missing and thinks of his former teammates on a regular basis, but he seems to know how to channel the emotions of it all. When he meets bar owner Stevie Kisner, he’s knocked for a loop. Stevie is nothing like the women he’s dated in the past. She’s a bar chick who can wield a baseball bat to break up a fight like nobody’s business and can command a pool table like she was born to play the game; but Stevie’s not giving into him so easily. Never one to quit, Hendrix doesn’t let this deter him. He finally wears Stevie down and before you know it, he’s head over heels; but Stevie isn’t one to give her heart so easily. Stevie Kisner is very familiar with “dead beat parents”, in this case it’s her mother who was the deadbeat. Abandoned by her mom at a young age she was raised solely by her dad who as far as she’s concerned, hangs the stars and the mom; even though her dad was perfect in every way, Stevie still has abandonment issues and longs for some type of relationship with her mom. So much so that she gives her mom chance after chance. Until her mother does something that jeopardizes her relationship with Hendrix. When Hendrix fails to give her the benefit of the doubt, Stevie is once again left feeling abandoned. Hendrix’s story is short and sweet, low on angst, but high on passion. This is a cute “feel good” type of book and definitely a good pool side or beach day read this summer. It takes place in the fall/winter around the holidays so it almost seems like you can hold off and read it then to get all the “holiday feels”, and magical “I love you’s” that just gets you in the heart. While Hendrix isn’t one of my top Titan’s books in the series, it’s definitely worth the read. Up next in the Titan’s Series is Mr. Camden Poe, who is the third member of the lucky three. Can’t wait to see what he’s got for us. ...more |

Review by Lisa Kane Tate Allen is a busy pediatric ICU nurse who just so happens to be the sister of renowned baseball player, Luke Allen. He's a walking legend for the Pinstripes ball team. Tate's closest friends are his team mates, but Tate has always told herself that she will never date a baseball player. She's had a front row seat to the shenanigans that players get up to and she wants no part of that angst fest. Her room mates are sisters. Sophia (who's back ground story about her and her boyfriend Josh appeared in the first in the series-Three Strikes and You're Mine) and Daphne, who seems to have a strange love/hate relationship with Dustin McDowell, the team's first baseman. They constantly try to get Tate to relax a bit, not work so much, maybe have sex once a decade. To get a little peace and quiet, Tate agrees to a dare from the sisters-have a hot one night stand. The perfect opportunity comes up when the gang is invited to a party. It's not long before Tate lays eyes on a gorgeous specimen of a man, who just happens to be checking her out too. A little flirting, a little touchy- feely later and we have one smokin' hot encounter. Imagine Tate's shock when she finds out her mystery man from the party is Grant Navarro, the new hotshot player, newly signed to the Pinstripes. When they meet again, Tate pretends they haven't met before. Grant hasn't been able to get the night he met Tate, and was disappointed when he found out who she was and who she is related to-not a good idea for the new guy to get involved with Luke Allen's sister. Keeping away from each other is easier said than done, regardless of how determined Tate is, pesky hormones and all that. There's lots of witty, flirty banter and some steamy episodes. But Tate can't let herself get involved with Grant-there are tons of females trying to get his attention and get into his bed. She doesn't need to worry about what her guy would be up to, she doesn't need that kind of jealousy in her life. In an effort to stay out of trouble, Tate starts dating a fellow coworker-Michael. He's sweet and polite and safe. Grant is about to jump out of his skin and there are some childish interactions between he and Tate. At times I felt like I was reading a young adult romance. Grow up people! Will these two get their acts together or will they just keep wasting time and confusing everyone around them? I am really digging this new series, the guys are down to earth, not former man whores waiting to be redeemed. The women are strong, independent and not airy, fangirls looking to snag a rich guy. I suspect the next one will be about Daphne and Dustin. Theirs is going to be a bumpy ride and I can't wait to grab a ticket for that game! ...more |

Ev Review by Trinette Dungee The Ruin of Gods finally brings us the long-awaited story of Maddox. I wanted his story from the moment he was introduced. Every story has that happy-go-lucky guy that goes through life partying, drinking, and sexing anything he can and from book one of this series, that seemed to be Maddox’s role. He may have been introduced as kind of shallow, but you know he’s going to be a deep character. He’s that peripheral character that you pray has a book and that you root for during the entire series, and he book didn’t disappoint. There’s just something about a character whose charm, and charisma can jump off the page at you. He’s a powerful demigod who fights hard and holds his own on the battlefield with the best of them; but he also lives by that old, “work hard, play hard”saying. He’s a master at playing hard. When he first encounters Zora after she’s been rescued from the underworld, he’s immediately attracted to her and wants her as his next playmate. But Zora keeps him coming back for more, and more includes a level of feelings/emotions/loyalty that that he’s only ever shown towards his demigod brothers, Carrick and Lucien. With Zora, Maddox finds himself wanting more and wanting to be more with her, but Zora proves to be his biggest obstacle. Having spent her entire life being held captive and being tortured in the underworld, Zora is rescued by the twin sister she never knew she had, killed, and then made a God as reward for her sacrifices. Zora faces a number of challenges with this new life. She has no idea what actual love is or feels like. Unlike her fellow gods known as The Council, she was once human, which gives her feelings and emotions to deal with that they’ve never had to do. She basically has a conscience, so the harsh, rash, immediate, and unwavering decisions they make on a whim, don’t come so easy for her. While it’s Maddox’s charm that grabs you, with Zora it’s her vulnerability, and lack of confidence that tugs at your heart. She realizes that Maddox wants more from her, but she has no idea how to give it to him. She struggles just as much with sharing herself with her sister, Finlay and the other gods/people in her life. The underworld left her more than a little broken; it left her with a huge emptiness she wants to fill but just doesn’t understand how. Of course, no true love is gained without major drama, and Maddox and Zora have to fight their way back to each other. I feel like the recurring theme in the entire story is vulnerability which touches everyone, even the untouchable Council. These characters are written with a chemistry that’s felt immediately, emotions that are relatable, and a vulnerability that’s almost physically painful. I wasn’t expecting to get the self-awareness I got from the two of them, as well as the other characters from previous books. Typically, the swoony part of a book or the grand gesture comes from the hero, but this time it comes from the heroine when Zora confesses to Maddox that she’s managed to do something she knows he’s wanted for a while, and with that we see that Zora knows what it means to love. To get the full impact of every character, this series should definitely be read in order. My favorite words in this book: “The fact that you feel my pain is love Zora”. “Really? She asks….” I struggle so hard to get the words out …. You just used a lot of words to tell me you love me.” ...more |

Review by Lisa Kane If you've read the first book in The Law of Opposites Attract series, we witnessed the steamy dance between Lala and Holden at Col Review by Lisa Kane If you've read the first book in The Law of Opposites Attract series, we witnessed the steamy dance between Lala and Holden at Colby and Billie's wedding. We know there is something there, but Holden is a musician who enjoys playing on the stage and off and Lala is a scientist engaged to a colleague. Very different personalities, but united in their shared grief at the death of Lala's brother, Ryan. Holden has always been attracted to Lala but he was warned years ago by Ryan that Lala is off limits. As tempted as he's been, he's never given in to his feelings. But now Lala needs a place to stay and Holden offers her the empty apartment next to his. Maybe not the best idea for trying not to give in to his impulses. Lala isn't immune by any means, but thinks Warren her fiance, is a safe choice. Lala has her life mapped out in front of her, she's always followed the sensible path and thinks Holden is not the type to settle down. But when circumstances keep putting these two together, it's awfully difficult to ignore what they both are feeling. The question is, will those feelings prove to be nothing more than a mistake or is it the real thing? The Rules of Dating My Best Friend's Sister had just the right balance of humor and seriousness. There are so many poignant memories these characters have shared with Ryan, Lala's brother. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. There just may be a little divine intervention going on in this story. A love as strong as these characters shared with Ryan remains long after he is physically no longer with them. ...more |

After reading Wi 3.5 stars By Jen skewes I love anything that Micalea Smeltzer writes. I have read just about every one of her books and loved them all. After reading Wild Collision I could not wait for Kira and Rush’s story. They are two people that are very guarded but the connection between them is undeniable. They have their own thing going on that is nothing more than sex and a good time. The two of them together are fund and sexy but when their life takes a different turn that either one of them expected, it is time for them to get real. They both need to face their past and demons before they can even think about moving forward with each other. They have so many obstacles standing in their way, one of them being themselves. They must ace their pasts and their fears in order to have a happy future. I loved these characters but for me this one just didn’t do it for me like that rest of Micalea’s books have. I felt the connection sexually but there were times when I just wished for more. I wanted to feel, not just see more of the emotional connection between them. I enjoyed the book and the characters but it was not one of my favorites. Merged review: 3.5 stars By Jen skewes I love anything that Micalea Smeltzer writes. 4 Stars Review by Jen Skewes I loved this series so I was very excited when I found out that we would be getting a Holiday novella. Home for Christmas w 4 Stars Review by Jen Skewes I loved this series so I was very excited when I found out that we would be getting a Holiday novella. Home for Christmas was like a reunion with the people we fell in love with in this series. What I loved about it was the this was not just focused on one couple or one member f the band. This is a novella that reinitiates us will all four meets f the bands and the wonderful ladies that they fell for. It is written in alternating point of views for each heroine of this series. We get to catch up with them and see what are they are all up to now. Each couple s coming home for Christmas and spending it together. We get to see each couple separately with tier family and all together as one big Willow Creek family. This novella is everything yo want from not only this series but from a novella. It is a feel good, fun and sweet read that will have you smiling the entire time. It makes you remember why you fell in love with these characters in the first place. Thank you Ms. Smeltzer for giving us more of this family. Review by Jen Skewes This book was everything. I love Jace and Nova and could not wait for the follow up to their story. They are my favorite couple in Review by Jen Skewes This book was everything. I love Jace and Nova and could not wait for the follow up to their story. They are my favorite couple in this series. I love the passion between them, the love that is just so pure, the cute banter between the two of them and how they would do anything for each other. Their love just melts my heart. Everything is great for Jace and Nova. Life is wonderful, they are in love and happy. So what could possibly go wrong? Well a lot could go wrong. In a heartbreaking twist these two have to face the unthinkable. It is something that will either bring them closer together or tear them apart. With the love that these two have for each other they should be able to get through anything. But life isn’t always rainbows and unicorns. What Jace and Nova are going through is something that will test their love in a way that will break you. I swore at that moment I kept asking why? But I know why. This story is about life, and how sometimes life will throw you a curveball that you never saw coming, taking away that happiness that you found, causing you to question if you will ever have it again. But with the love of the people around you and the love for each other, will it be enough to get through it? This book had my emotions all over the place. Everything seemed great and happy and I loved it. Until Ms. Smeltzer threw in a twist I did not see coming, one that completely broke my heart for these two loving characters. But I think it was what came next that broke me even more. The hurt that I had for these two turned into frustration and maybe a bit of anger, for lack of a better word. Nova needed time, and Jace would give her anything she asked for and I completely understood but my God I felt like my heart was in my throat the whole time. That is what this book did to me and I loved every minute of it. Ms. Smeltzer once again did not disappoint. Her words and writing are flawless. The twists will break your heart. She will make you fall in love with Jace and Nova all over again. She brings out all of the feels in this one. She may have broken me at one point but she put all the pieces of my heart back together again. I loved that we still got to see the other characters. They are a family and I loved that they were a part of this journey with Jae and Nova. What I especially loved was the closure that we got at the end for this series. We get to see beyond the happily ever after for these three couples that I love. Amazing job!! Merged review: Review by Jen Skewes This book was everything. 4.5 stars review by Jen Skewes After reading the blurb for Dishonorable and knowing that it was Ms. Knight that was writing it, I knew it would be raw, 4.5 stars review by Jen Skewes After reading the blurb for Dishonorable and knowing that it was Ms. Knight that was writing it, I knew it would be raw, gritty and intense. And that is exactly what I love about her writing and her stories. And Dishonorable was no different. Ms. Knight certainly delivered with this one. Raphael is out for revenge and the one way that he knows how to get it is through Sofia. And her grandfather had no problem using her to pay his debt. On her eighteenth birthday Raphael would come for her and soon after she would be his wife. What are Raphael’s plans with her after that? That is something I had to ask myself as well. Raphael is a very broken man for many reasons. And what he has been through is truly heartbreaking and one could understand why he is the man that we see today. But beneath that very hard and tough exterior is a sweet, gentle and caring man, even if he doesn’t let anyone see that side of him very often. He is a tortured soul and with Sofia now in his life things begin to change. He begins to change, well as much as someone like him can. Sofia has her own issues and past that she is dealing with. For one the betrayal that she has just felt from her grandfather is front and center. He was never a loving or generous man but to just hand her over to the enemy sort of speaks volumes about how he really feels about her. She wants the truth where he is concerned but there is only one person who will tell her what she wants to know. But he is also the one man that she hates, that she cannot trust and also is the one man that she has no business falling for. Raphael is her enemy and even though she is stuck with him she does not have to like it and she intends to fight him on everything. Until she starts to really see who this man is. There is so much more to this man than most people think. For some reason she feels safe and secure with him. And she seems to be the one person he can open up to. But this is just a business deal. And in the end Raphael has plans for how he is going to destroy her family. Will this arranged marriage turn into something that neither one of them saw coming? Raphael is that character that is sexy and a complete alpha male. He is the person that at times you want to hate him for his actions but no matter what happens you cannot help but just love him. I found myself throughout this book just loving him and wanting to comfort him. Even through the moments when I wanted to punch him, because deep down he was a good man with a heart. Sofia could be feisty at times but she is also very naïve at times. She is still young and I think wants to be able to trust the people that she should trust. What her and Raphael have is a connection that neither one of them expected. And no matter how much they both try to deny it, for their own personal reasons, it is still there. I loved what they had, through the good moments and the bad they were perfect together. I think they both gave each other something that they didn’t know they needed. Dishonorable has it moments that are raw and intense, but there are also moments of sweetness. This was one of those books that I just did not want to put down. I loved the intensity, and the passion and the characters. I love reading a romance that involves two broken characters. What I loved was that Raphael did change when he was with Sofia but he was also the same person that he was before he met her. He was hot and cold but that was who he was, Sofia just brought out the good that was in him. I loved this book and really hoping we get more. I want to see what the story is with Damon and Liv. I was not sure what would happen, but after reading Torn I can say that it was nothing that I expected. This book went in a direction that I never saw coming. But I loved it. When Taken ended, we see that Lucinda had taken Helena. Torn starts off exactly where we left off. Helena realizes that Lucinda lied to her and now she is at her and Ethan's mercy. She has not idea where she is, or if Sebastian is even looking for her. And what is done to her while she is being held captive is beyond words. My God the ,aunt of pain and suffering and hurt that this girl endured, not just at the hands of Lucinda but in general. Sebastian dos save her and from that moment you are not sure how this story will end. There are rules that are not meant to be broken. Helena is falling for the man that she should hate but Sebastian seems to be falling as well. He has no intention of going her up after year, especially to his brothers. He has a plan and as long as he sticks to it, all will be fine. Right? That plan will end up hurting someone and there may be no fixing what has been broken. What will happen? You will have to read the book to find out. I really loved this series. I loved Sebastian even when I should have hated him. But I saw that deep down he felt something for Helena. He wan't the bad guy and what they shared as something that was deep and felt by the both of them. Helena is one tough chick. I would never have survived, but she took it all and swore she would never let them break her. Gregory plays a significant role in this book and I am not sure if I love him or hate him. Oh who am I kidding, there is something about him that makes you love him. And I really hope we get to see more of him. Torn was filled with angst, suspense, and it was hot. Ms. Knight definitely turned the heat up a notch in this one. A perfect conclusion to this duet. I hope that this is not the last act we see of these characters. Merged review: 4.5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes I could not wait to read the conclusion to Taken. Especially after the way we were left hanging. 4.5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes Holy Crap!!!! I thought the first book was intense!! That was nothing compared to what I just finished reading. My hear 4.5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes Holy Crap!!!! I thought the first book was intense!! That was nothing compared to what I just finished reading. My heart was in my throat the entire time. Afraid to turn each page because I was not sure where this amazing writing du would take me but all anxious to see what happens. You know those books where it is so intense and raw that you need to take a moment but don’t really want to? Well, that is how I felt throughout this entire book. And I loved it!! We were left hanging in book one. All we know is that someone tried to kill Santiago and Ivy was taken. And that is how the book continues. Exactly where we left off. I am not going to say another word about wat happens from here, because I do not want to give anything away. Santiago and Ivy still have that undeniable chemistry. The one that could destroy both of them on so many levels. One minute this is passion and something as close to love as these two can get and the next minute it is gritty, raw and toxic!! I do not know which one I love more. I should hate him. Ivy should hate him, but it is jut impossible to feel that when it comes to Santiago. This book had me on edge, the entire time. It was beyond intense, dark and so freakin raw. Santiago became the true definition of a monster over and over again. But we also get that glimpse of him where you know he care, where you know that Ivy has completely turned his world upside down and he has no idea what to do with it. Ivy is still a fighter, but her weakness is her family and at times Santiago. She wants Santiago but hates herself for it. But for some reason they need each other in a way that neither of them can come to terms with or even understand. This is what makes their story so compelling. But it is also what makes it so raw and toxic. I swear that loving Santiago and feeling a bit of sadness for this man has me questioning myself. Because some of his actions in this book shocked me. You think you saw a monster in books 1, just wait. But then the end you see the side of Santiago that you know is buried so very deep. And that is why you love him!! I will be not so patiently waiting for the final book. Merged review: 4.5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes Holy Crap!!!! I thought the first book was intense!! 5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes Damage is the conclusion to Collateral and it was freakin fantastic. This book is a perfect example of why I love Natasha K 5 Stars Review by Jen Skewes Damage is the conclusion to Collateral and it was freakin fantastic. This book is a perfect example of why I love Natasha Knight's writing. It is gritty, raw, intense, emotional and has twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This was the perfect conclusion to Stefan and Gabriela's story. At the end of Collateral we were left hanging in a big way, Gabriella has jus lost one of the most important people in her life. She had started to trust Stefan but now she is no so sure who's her back any more. So she calls the one person that she should be able to trust, even if she knows not too. We are left wondering who took Gabriel and if Stefan will not only find her in time and in one piece, but what will happen between the two of them when he does. She is not sure if she can trust him, she knows that he is a monster, but she also sees a side of him the gives her hope, that maybe there is more to this man than what most people see. Stefan definitely has his moments where he shows compassion, shows that he cares. until things go wrong and he turns back into that monster that you don't know whether to trust him or not. there is no doubt that these two are falling for each other. But can a marriage the was forced from the beginning, combined with the lack of trust really work out in the end? I loved this book!! I enjoyed the first book but this one I absolutely loved. I was glued to the pages, never wanting it to end. It was a bumpy road, with twist and turns, and emotions running rampant. When it was all over I let out the breath that I didn't not realize I was holding. All I wangle was for Stefan to admit his love for Gabiella but also see that man that she fell for. The one who is comforting. protective and makes her feel safe. Gabriela is one tough girl for all that she has gone through. I loved that regardless of the fact that she was stuck with Stefan for the long haul, she still stayed true to herself. She still fought back ad would still do anything to protect the ones she loves. Natasha Knight has done it again. Her writing is just so perfect. She writes a mafia romance with just the right amount of dark. Her stories are gritty and intense. You find yourself loving characters that you shouldn't, but you just do. Just a side note, I am very intrigued with Rafa and I would love to see more of his character. There is also one part of this story involving another character that I still want to understand...lol. But at the same time I am not sure I want to know. Another fantastic read from Ms. Knight. ...more |

That small town will always be home especially since the one person who holds his heart is there; but going after Taylor will change everything about their lives as they know it. Col’s career is just starting to take off and he’d love to have Taylor at his side to share it with him; but Taylor kind of has her own thing going on. She’s finally decided that it’s time she got back to her dreams. She’s going to have to leave behind her parents and their issues and focus on her. As much as she loves Colton she’s also realizing that he might be taking advantage of her just a little bit; although he’s not aware of it. She also has to deal with the attraction to her that her other BF, Matt, has. Taylor cherishes her friendship with Matty as much as she does her friendship with Colton but unlike Colton, Taylor has no desire to pursue a romantic relationship with Matt. This of course causes tension between Col and Matt. Col knows how special Taylor is and feels she deserves nothing but the best. Better than him or Matt but if either of them is going to have her, Col’s determined it will be him. This book, this book….oh yeah, there were so many ups and downs and twists and turns that I couldn’t believe it when I got to the end! The ups and downs were so seamless that you didn’t realize it was an up or down. I’m pretty quick on the uptake and can generally figure out where a story is going, but this one….uh, no. Not. A. Clue. I mean, I thought I knew where it was going but boy was I wrong. You know how you look at the bottom of your e-reader and it shows you the percentage left? Well, when I happened to glance down and saw that I was about 90% done I started to worry. I had to accept that this was going to be one of those books that didn’t end in an HEA; I mean it happens, not very often but it does happen. Well this was worse than not having an HEA…it was a freaking cliff-hanger!! Now at some point right towards the end, I did wonder if it would be a cliffy but I couldn’t see what it would be. I mean if it was just going to be Col going on living his “celebrity lifestyle” and Taylor trying to fit in, well that wasn’t going to be very interesting. Seen it, read it a million times. And if you know me, I am not a fan of cliffhangers…I’m instant gratification. I want it all right then and right there. But this cliffhanger…..I never saw it coming!! So Ms. McLain, hats off to you, you kept me entertained the entertained and guessing the entire time. I really liked this book. I liked all of the characters, the storyline, the way the story was told, I pretty much liked everything about this book; I even liked the little love triangle and I’m very curious to see how it plays out in the next book (which I hope will be released soon). So for Fly I’m giving it 4 stars. They are just the right amount of grit and darkness, mixed with sexy. A hero that I have no business falling in love with but always do. When it comes to a mafia romance Ms. Knight always hits the mark. And Collateral is no different. Gabriella is just a pawn in her father’s world. Yes, she is the daughter of a big mob boss, but to her that means nothing. Her father doesn’t care what happens to her, most of her life has been spent as a prisoner in her own home. Two years ago, on her Sixteenth birthday Stefan Sabbioni sent a message to her father via her. He promised that he would seek revenge and take something very precious to her father. What she didn’t know was that “something precious” was her. Stefan is out for revenge for what happened to his brother two years ago. He is the head of this family now and now that Gabriella is 18 he plans on making her his. An arranged marriage between her and Stefan is to take place and she is to accept her place. She has not choice bit to go with him, but Gabriella is not one to go down without a fight. She doesn’t just submit to Stefan because she is told to. She is strong and stubborn and will fight him tooth and nail. But I think in some weird way as much as she frustrates him and pisses him off, it is also the reason he is drawn to her. He’s considered a monster in her eyes, but with her being his comes with as level of protection that maybe she wouldn’t have at home. Which is the better evil? Marrying Stefan and being his or going back home to live with her father? I loved this book which is the first in a duet. Stefan is not a good man, he is angry and out for revenge, but at times I saw another side of him when with Gabriella. They can go heads to head, neither one of them backing down but that is what makes the chemistry between them so intense. He has a very protective side and regardless of how she became his, he protects what belongs to him and I think after learning more about her, he has a bit of a soft spot for her. I think there is so much more her than he realizes and when he finds out it makes him see her in a different way. Gabriella is strong and feisty, and I love that about her. She’s at war with her feelings when it comes to Stefan. One minute hating him and the next having feelings that she is not sure she should have. In her eyes he is a monster but at times, he makes her question how true that is. Collateral is another example of why I love Ms. Knight’s writing. It’s dark, gritty, sexy and a bit charming all in one. I say charming because there are moments between the two of them where they both seem to drop their guard, even if for a short time. From the moment I started reading I could not put this book down. She makes you question your own morals when you start to fall for the hero. I devoured this book. I knew this was a cliffhanger, but Ms. Knight left us hanging in a way that left me shocked. I need book two! I will be patiently waiting!! They have just the right amount of darkness mixed with passion, drama and sexiness. There's the alpha male who you want to hate but have a hard time doing do. And Descent is no different. I loved it!! Persephone's father has ben in an accident that has left him in a coma. She is trying so hard to keep everything together. They are in danger of losing her house and the family business. Trying to take care of her father and try not to lose everything at the same time is proving tone very difficult/. Enter Hayden Montgomery, her next door neighbor, brother of her best friend and her father's enemy, even if she is not sure why. He comes to her one night and makes her an offer. One she certainly refuses, until she releases that it is the only way. She loses everything or gets to stay in her house and still work for the family business. What's the catch? She is basically selling her should and body to the devil himself. Hayden has his own issues with his family. But when it comes to Percy's father, he is seeking revenge on behalf of his deceased sister, who was also Percy's best friend. Five years ago he save Percy from a night that could have totally gone wrong. But now he is back for revenge and to make Percy his. Is she part of his plan for revenge or does he truly care for her? There are so many unanswered questions, some that Percy holds the answers to, until she realizes that there is a big piece of the puzzle that she is missing. She is with him because she has no choice, but in the end will the two of them find love? I really loved this book. Hayden is an alpha male through and through but every once in a while you see that heart, you see emotions and you see that he cares for Percy. Together they were intense, raw and they both had a hard time backing down. Percy held her own when it came to Hayden, she managed to fight even if in the end she knew to give in. But she still stood her ground when she needed to. Just as Hayden was there for her when she needed it!!! As always Natasha Knight has sucked me in!! I love that this book is dark but it does not cross the line too much. I love the intensity of the characters and the emotions they brought out. It was also great to see a guest appearance from one of Ms. Knight's other characters. I don't know if this is the only book in the series, but I sure hope it isn't. I would love to see Ares' story!!! Another great one by Ms. Knight. Merged review: 4 Stars Review by Jen Skewes I always look forward to Natasha Knight's stories. Review by Trinette Dungee What I knew about Cannon West going into this book: He’s the newly appointed head coach of the Pittsburgh Titans He’s the you Review by Trinette Dungee What I knew about Cannon West going into this book: He’s the newly appointed head coach of the Pittsburgh Titans He’s the youngest coach in the league He’s a widower He gave up his career to care for his dying wife What I thought I was going to get with Cannon West: A loner A broken man trying to find his way back after the loss of his wife A little bit broody What I now know about Cannon West: He’s adjusted He’s an Alpha He is nothing like I expected him to be He’s a DIRTY TALKER! On top of being the youngest head coach in the league, he’s head coach of a team that’s rebuilding themselves after a horrific loss, and he’s known as the player who gave up his career to care for his dying wife at the top of his game, so all eyes are on Cannon West. With all of this, there’s no room in his current world for long term relationships, but he can most certainly make room for Ms. Ava Cavanaugh, the sexy manager/barista at his neighborhood coffee shop. Cannon West was nothing I expected him to be! Throughout the last few Titan books, he’s been mentioned quite often, and the main thing associated with him was the fact that he was a widower and how he cared for his dying wife. Naturally, I assumed the ghost of his wife would be ever present during this story and she’d inadvertently become a third main character. I was curious to read his story, but if I’m being honest, he wasn’t at the top of my list to be devoured. I don’t think I’ve ever misjudged a character this badly before. From the minute he’s introduced I know I might be slightly off about my assessment. When he interacts with Ava, oh, I KNOW I’m off; and as time goes on, I know I’m WAY OFF. Cannon is far from the grieving widower I thought he was going to be, and it was a refreshing change from what the typical storylines give us for widowers. In these instances, it’s a withdrawn, sullen, heartbroken man; or men who are screwing anything walking to drown to drown out the grief. Cannon was neither of these, kudos to Sawyer for switching things up. Cannon married his high school sweetheart, and it’s been ten years since her death. During this time, he’s remained active in hockey and has moved on with his life. The only thing that hangs over him is how he always made hockey his number one priority, and not his relationship. With everything he has going on, he can promise exclusivity for the time he’s with anyone, but he cannot and will not promise forever. When Ava explains that she may or may not stay in Pittsburgh, this is the perfect set up for him. The chemistry between Cannon and Ava jumps off the page from the minute Cannon hits her with what he thinks is awkward flirting, which is anything but awkward. And then he totally shocks me he shoots for the stars and declares they will be going out: “What’s your last name?” That startles her, and she cuts me a side eye before answering, “Cavanaugh,” I pull out my phone, navigate to Contacts, and start a new one. “Ava Cavanaugh, And your phone number?” Those eyes lift to meet mind, her head tipped slightly. “Really?” “Yes, really. We’re going out for a drink.” She just stares at me. I stare right back, refusing to blink. “Phone number. Now.” Those are not the words or the attitude of a man who’s broken or unsure of himself. I loved the chemistry between these two. They get each other. When they are together in any capacity they just clicked. Their conversations flowed, their banter is easy, their comfort level is so relaxed. Their relationship is so comfortable that they both very easily fall into a routine and the very commitment neither thought they wanted or needed. Their companionable chemistry was one thing, but the sexual chemistry between these two was off the charts. They didn’t just set the room on fire, they set the whole damned building on fire! “Leaning down, he doesn’t kiss my mouth but rather feathers his lips just below my ear. “Are you ready to get fuc*ed?”.….” I’m a dirty talker. Is that problem?” And that was just the tip of the iceberg with his dirty talk! With the words he used, he gave Ava a full sexual experience without even touching her at times. Hell, with his dirty talk and the actions that matched, the sex they had, had me feeling like I was on an amusement park ride! What I always love and appreciate about the way Sawyer writes her heroes, is they aren’t afraid to show emotion. Cannon is no different. While most of his is shown through what he does for Ava and how he tries to help her it was obvious when his feelings for her started to venture to where he didn’t want them to go. Cannon also possessed huge compassion; this was most obvious in his relationship with his former mother-in-law. The person battling the ghost in this book wasn’t Cannon, but his wife’s mother. The level of patience shown by this man was amazing when dealing with her. His compassion is also what makes him a good coach. “Your numbers aren’t what they were last year, and Bain is performing better. I think you have the ability to battle for that position if you want it, but I need to know if there’s anything I can do to help you get your focus back.” Camden’s gaze slides, and I use that opportunity to push a little harder. “Is it the crash? You need any help with that?” Camden shakes his head, eyes snapping back to mine. “It’s not that. Just some family stuff I have going on. It’s fair to say my focus has taken a hit.” During this book Cannon is often looking at ways to help Camden out with his game. Camden is one of the lucky three that wasn’t on the plane that took the lives of the former Titan team, and this is setting us up for the next Titan player’s story. Cannon is a quick read with low angst, high heat, and sweet moments. I always love the little nuggets dropped in one series that links back to another series. This nugget shows up when Ava gives Cannon a little of her background. “I was an HR generalist for a large life insurance company back in my hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina.” “Oh God,” Cannon moans with exaggeration. “Please don’t tell me you’re a Cold Fury fan.” ...more |

When they first really got to know each other, they were both staying at the home their parents had just purchased together in Maine. Archie didn't have much time for Noelle and as much as she secretly crushed on him, she wasn't crazy about his personality. But circumstances allowed them to get to know each other and to become close. And for a time one summer, they crossed that line and became more than friends. But things came to an abrupt end and they went back to the friend zone. Years passed, relationships came and went, some serious some not and then came the widening of the gap between them that forever changed their lives. I don't want to post any spoilers but suffice it to say that Noelle was forced to move on and to find someone she might be able to call her forever love. Archie and Noelle have the worst timing, they just never seem to be able to get on the same page at the same time. But at a strange point in their relationship, Noelle has a proposal for Archie. One he surprisingly takes her up on and things are going to change again. For the first time in a long time, they are both in the same place ready to take a chance on each other. Archie may have wanted Noelle for most of his adult life, but his fears that he isn't what she needs always seems to get in the way. Is he going to sabotage things again? Toe the Line has lots of heat and great dialogue. The thing that held me back from loving it is the angst. So much angst, so many missed opportunities. Sometimes all that drama can exhaust you and you just want a sweet romance with a few bumps. As much as I enjoyed this story, I wish there had been less pain and more fun. ...more |

4.5 Stars! Review by Lisa Kane RS Grey is one of my favorite authors. I most enjoy her rom/com's and Three Strikes might just be one of her best. Luke A 4.5 Stars! Review by Lisa Kane RS Grey is one of my favorite authors. I most enjoy her rom/com's and Three Strikes might just be one of her best. Luke Allen has just retired from being the pitcher for the New York Pinstripes. As much as he loves the game, he's a single dad with a precocious, adorable little girl named Harper. He feels she needs to come first and after filling her life with nannies, it's about time he made his life about her. Her mom, a good friend of Luke's died when Harper was two. They never married, but he valued her friendship and misses her in his life. Chloe Ricci is a pastry chef at the Fig & Olive restaurant, owned by her boyfriend and renowned chef, Miles Wilson and a good one at that. Her boyfriend is a bit aloof (come on, he's a real douche canoe) but Chloe is a little bit of a push over and she's not one to make demands. After both have finished working a long shift, he tells her he has some things to finish up. Mind you, it's late at night, it's New York and he can't be bothered to make sure she gets to home okay. But she forgets her keys, comes back to the kitchen and sees him "cooking up" a little mischief with Chloe's good friend. Talk about stirring the pot. So Chloe leaves her job, and the apartment she shared with Miles and is out in the cold. Chloe's big Italian family are more than happy to have her move back home, but she'd have to share a room with her Nonna. She's going to pass and find a job where she can support herself. A relative comes through and she finds herself working as a caretaker for an estate in Bridgehampton. Her first night there, the owner, Luke Allen surprises her from a dead sleep. Turns out his plans to go to Colorado are derailed and he's spending the summer here. No need for a caretaker. Chloe convinces Luke she can do what she does best-cook up delicious meals for Luke and Harper and do odd things around the house. These two have chemistry but Chloe just got out of a messy relationship with her boss and she isn't going to lose another job because she thinks her boss is hot. Let's see how avoiding getting involved with Luke is going to work out. Luke and Chloe are funny and caring and genuinely good people. Their dialogue is funny as are their inner thoughts, both intent on keeping things strictly business. Um hmmm... Three Strikes story flies by and was over before I knew it. My only wish is that it had just a little bit more angst. I do love a bumpy ride and love to earn my happy ending. ...more |

Greyson Archer is a former Navy SEAL now working for a private security firm. After a horrible day at work, he stops at Dolly House Gentleman's Club, a strip joint. He throws back a few drinks, but isn't really interested in the girls offering to make him feel good. That is until a curvy, hot chick works the pole. His eyes just about bug out of his head when he realizes its Finley Sutton, the widow of Marcus Sutton, one of his fellow SEALs. What is she doing here when she should be home taking care of her baby daughter? He confronts her and she shoots him down. This isn't over by a long shot. It'd been almost two years since I'd seen her, but not much had changed. Finley is still fuming the next day about her run in with Grey. How dare he question how she makes a living! She is a single mom, loaded down with debt from her complicated pregnancy and she's doing the best she can do to survive. Dancing nude pays the bills. Sure the guys there are a bit out there, especially one weirdo who pays far too much attention to her, but she does what she has to do to get by. But Grey is not going to stay away. He barges his way into her life. I stroked men's egos enough at work, and I got paid well for it. Finley blames Grey for her husband, Marcus's death. Grey has enough guilt over Marcus' death without any added guilt from her. He wants to help her and her baby, Maple. Ok, maybe he is more than a little attracted to her and this is about more than just helping out his widow. Slow and Steady is a quick read with some mild angst and drama. Grey's alpha protective side comes out when Finley finds herself in danger. Will she ever stop blaming him for Marcus' death? Can they find happiness in their mutual grief? She runs straight for her boyfriend Josh's apartment. He will make it better, he will hold her tight. Only when she gets there, he is already holding a big breasted, skank tight from behind. How much can she handle in one day? He sees her, yells that it isn't what it looks like. (really?) She doesn't stop, she goes to the home she shared with her parents and finds her best friend Leah waiting for her. It's with her that she finds the center of her gravity, her rock. Tatum tells her what happened. She is lost and doesn't know how to go on when everyone is gone from her life. Leah and her pediatrician fiance, Brent, are moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in a few weeks for his new practice. Slowly, Tatum tries to put together her life. Leah and Brent want her to move with them. Josh is harassing her, and she doesn't have any reason to stay in town. So it's a new chance at a new life and she agrees to go. Meanwhile in Murfreesboro, Blaise is a volunteer firefighter (his dad is the chief) and a co-owner of a Tattoo shop with his twin brother Asher. He has a close knit family; his mom is the administrative assistant to the mayor and his sister Ember is going to be starting her new job as a teacher. Blaise was burned (pardon the pun) by his ex girlfriend, Beth. He was about to pop the question when she told him she was pregnant by someone else. He's avoided any long term relationships since. He's no manwhore, he respects and enjoys the company of women. He just won't let himself enter into anything serious. He looks at his brother, Asher's relationship with his girlfriend Grace and he's envious. He wishes someone wonderful would come in to his life, someone worth taking a chance on. The town is looking to place someone for the marketing/PR position. By way of Brent, Tatum finds out about the marketing job. Since that was her major in college, this would be perfect for her. She runs into Blaise on her way to her interview and both are pretty taken with the other. She ends up getting the job and working with his mom, puts Blaise is close proximity with Tatum. His sister, Ember (another name connected to fire) has just moved into her first apartment but she would like a roommate. Guess who that is going to be? The connection between Blaise and Tatum is wired with electricity, both are very aware of the other. Blaise wants her and isn't about to let anyone else in this town make a move first. He is constantly touching her and whispering sweet things in her ear. She thinks she would be interested in a fling, a one night stand with him, but that isn't what he has in mind. Can Tatum take a chance with her heart again? This was an easy read, except for the heartbreak early in the book with Tatum's parents, there is little angst. I thought Blaise moved a little too fast, it seemed like he immediately made up his mind to pursue her and then seemed almost stalkish with the way he was constantly touching her when they barely knew each other. Theirs was one of those instant love situations that feels a little unnatural to me. In spite of those drawbacks, the characters were well developed and the friendship between Leah and Tatum was particularly heart warming. The secondary characters all supported the main hero and heroine and each had a story line of their own. I can easily see this becoming a series, as there is plenty of material to support more books. While he comes off as a playboy with life in the palm of his hands, he’s the one really just kind of going through the motions of life. Although he has a good relationship with his brothers and newly found sisters, he’s been pretty much on his on most of his life. The need or desire to really understand a person doesn’t happen until Emma comes along. Emma’s disdain for Brody isn’t as deep as she wants it to be. While she abhors what he is, she’s also intrigued by him. Brody is everything she knows nothing about. He doesn’t have a clue what it’s like to want for anything in his life, he has no clue what it’s like to not even be able to splurge on diner food because it’ll take away from rent money. The Fraternity he belonged to turned their backs on her brother when he needed them most, left him in a bad place and she’s been struggling to hold their lives together. After Brody’s oldest brother helped Emma and her brother out, she starts to think maybe Ridge isn’t as bad as she thought; but doesn’t mean Brody is like him. Brody repeatedly inserts himself into her life and she has no choice but to really look at him and she starts to see that maybe she and Brody are just what the other one needs to face their weakness and work on their strengths. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Brody. While he might not be my favorite brother, I was not disappointed. Brody was your typical youngest brother in terms of his attitude towards life in general. Although he didn’t suffer at the hands of their parents like Ridge with their dad and Wes with their mom, he had to endure his own kind of abuse that was basically emotional in being left to his own devices most of the time. He did experience the typical reaction of a parent when they need something in terms of the way his father constantly reached out to him because the other two wouldn’t give him the time of day. I liked the evolution of Brody in terms of him trying to win Emma over, it was very reminiscent of Ridge learning about Karrie. I loved him becoming a “Big Brother”, I think in some way it opened his eyes to the fact that there’s more to being a big brother than bossing around…he’s bond with Antione was really sweet. Not a lot of angst in the story of Brody and Emma but here was the sort of kind of love triangle, the misunderstandings, and misinterpretations so just enough to make it interesting. I think Brody’s story was a good way of wrapping of the lives of the Temple Brothers and their sisters. At the same time there is the promise of stories to come. I’ve said from the beginning I’m waiting for Crush’s story as well as Papi’s and of course Bethany has laid the groundwork. I feel like both stories may be heavy on the angst though. Review by Lisa Kane Josh Hanson has worked like a dog with very little play for the last 4 months. So what harm can come from a little naughty texting Review by Lisa Kane Josh Hanson has worked like a dog with very little play for the last 4 months. So what harm can come from a little naughty texting on a certain dating (not really dating) site with ButterflyGirl6? It's about time he let off a little steam and a casual hook up is just what he needs right now. After working my ass off to continue building my company for the past year, I'm a man on the edge. I have my limits, and the desire to pillage and plunder my way through the New York City singles scene is a sharp throb of need that can't be contained any longer. When his hot little text buddy asks for a shot of his down under, he's game. It takes a little bending in the right direction to get the money shot. Here we go. Time to lose my dick-pic virginity. He fires off the pic and then waits...and waits... Somehow the pic doesn't end up with butterfly girl. It ends up on Peyton Richards phone. Peyton who is a workaholic trying to take her subscription gift business to the next level. The girl who lives with her grandmom. Who is getting more action than she is-that's whose phone Josh's junk pic is on. Unknown User: Wait. Fuck. You're not ButterflyGirl16, are you? Peyton: Who? No. I'm definitely not. These two engage in some witty exchanges, even learning each other's first names. They end the convo, both a little sorry that there won't be any further communication between them. The next day is a big one for Peyton. She's about to meet with a company that can open up a whole new market for her. Josh's business partner Brody has to hand off a new prospective client due to too much gluten the night before. You know where this is going, right? Yep, Josh Hanson meet Peyton Richards. Both can barely take their eyes off each other. Their fantasies didn't even meet the reality of meeting in person. But let's keep the focus on business...yeah right. This situation is all kinds of fucked up, and I need to unfuck it. Stat. She stares at me, her nose crinkling. "So, last night...She shakes her head, frustration etched on her face. Junk Mail is funny and complicated and has a little bit of angst. Just another hit for Kendall Ryan! "The point is," Duncan says, "if you really care about a person, you need to let them tell their whole story. Because if you don't, you may be losing them somewhere in the details." He fires off the pic and then waits...and waits... Because if you don't, you may be losing them somewhere in the details." ...more |

Bella Keating is a math nerd. She spends her days writing algorithms and it completes her. By her own admission she's a bit of a genius with numbers, but people-well not so much. She lives in the same run down apartment above a fruit market that she's lived in for years. She doesn't own a car, she takes the bus everywhere. (I was a little surprised that given she has a very specialized skill, she isn't making a lot more money for doing what many companies would be willing to pay employees beaucoup bucks to do) Her life changes drastically when she finds out that she has been left a football team as an inheritance from a man she has never heard of or met before. But the will is ironclad, to the chagrin of his two other daughters. They make sure to let Bella know she will never be accepted or welcomed. On her first day at the team's headquarters, one of her evil sisters pranks her into believing the guy walking around with numerous pizza boxes is a perv. That's not quite true-he's the team's golden boy, Christian Knox. Their initial meeting is awkward and embarrassing. But Christian is intrigued by this ginger cutie and he's determined to have some fun pursuing her. Bella is down to earth, wants only what she's earned and has no sense of entitlement. She just can't figure out why this man, believed to be her father would leave her so much. When her mother died, she was in her teens and was shuffled into the foster care system. He never sought her out, and had to know she was literally an underage orphan on her own. She quickly learned she could not depend on anyone else in her life. She never quite got over that belief. Bella believes she can find a man who is her match based on mathematical analytics and not her emotions. Christian Knox knows a good thing when he sees it, and despite the fact that technically Bella is his boss, he's not going to let that pesky little fact stand in his way. This is a good guy; has he had his and probably lots of other men's share of women-yeah, but he never promises what he he isn't willing to commit and he's honest. But will that be enough to change Bella's way of finding a mate? This is a Vi Keeland story so expect some angst and disruption to their paradise. Bumps in the road are mandatory for Vi's works and The Game is no exception, but it's well written, the characters are adorable and quirky, the story is page turning and it's one not to be missed! ...more |

Review by Trinette Dungee There have been quite a few books in this series I’ve been waiting for, and Drake was one of them. From the minute we first m Review by Trinette Dungee There have been quite a few books in this series I’ve been waiting for, and Drake was one of them. From the minute we first met him and Breanne in Stone’s book I prayed they would have a storyline together and it would be hot. This did not disappoint. It was indeed hot, as well as passionate and gave a few giggles. Neither bites their tongue, neither is afraid/embarrassed to share their feelings. They are unapologetically who they are and, they are equally matched in their physical attraction to each other, and what they don’t want. Breanne Norcross and Drake McGuinn don’t just sizzle, the freaking burn and explode. This meeting has been a long time coming…. “Are you flirting with me, Drake? Because it would be considered improper.” I shake my head and lean toward her. Dropping my tone, I give her the honest truth. “I don’t flirt. I fu*k, and that’s it.” Brienne gasps, not in horror or shock, but more like a tiny exhale of lust as her cobalt eyes darken. I take advantage of the shock. “Boy toys flirt. That’s not me.” “And why do I need to know the difference?” she asks. I’m pleased her voice is huskier than usual. My lips curve in a wicked grin. “In case you want proof of what I’m saying.” I watch in fascination as her eyes go from sizzling in contemplation to icing back over to the multibillionaire owner of an empire. “Not interested.” Her tone is bland… disinterested as she glances over her guests. “Oh, you’re interested,” I say knowingly, and her eyes fly back to me. Drake McGuinn is done with the hockey world. His wife’s drug addiction tore his family and marriage apart, and when she falsely accuses him of places illegal bets against his team the league seemed perfectly content to believe her lies. Drakes main concern is raising his three boys and ensuring their lives are as normal as possible. When Breanne Norcross first approached him about returning to help rebuild the Pittsburgh Titans, her entertained her until she pissed him off, but Breanne won’t be dismissed so easily. Drake is rude, crude, dirty talking, sex on a stick: “Trust me… no pus*y is ever going to make things right with me for what the league did. I fuc*ed you because I wanted you, plain and simple. Just like you let me fu*k you because you wanted me too.” Something that has become more and more prevalent in Sawyer Bennett’s books is vulnerability with her male characters. There has always been a level of vulnerability with them, but lately it seems to be at the forefront of their personalities/characteristics. Drake isn’t afraid to show his emotions, especially when it comes to his family. Whether it be his sister or his kids. All three boys are crying—good, happy, emotional tears—and yeah, I am, too. I flop us down on my small front lawn that’s starting to crisp in this first month of fall. I spend quality time letting them crawl over my chest and hug the ever-loving shit out of me. Yeah… think I’ll just stay this way for eternity. Although his divorce was hard on him more because of the league’s response and his boys, it also has jaded him when it comes to relationships. That seals it. We agree we’ll fu*k on occasion and are free to be with others. It’s the perfect deal for me and holds with my current philosophy that I’m never committing to another woman again. His ex has left him bitter and with little trust in women or relationships, but when he realizes that Breanne means more to him than just a “fu*k”, he doesn’t hesitate to admit it to himself. When he realizes he’s done something to hurt her, he owns it. Where Drake is rude and crude, Breanne is right there with him. She matches word for word and action for action. “You didn’t break up with him because of me, did you?” Brienne frowns. “No. I ended things before you.” “Good,” I say adamantly. “Because I’m not asking you to.” “Good,” she mimics. “Because I fu*k who I want and when I want. Clay was convenient, just like you’re convenient. Just like there are a lot of convenient men.” Well, damn. She turned that around on me. Breanne Norcross has always been on top of her game and a force to be reckoned with in the business world, but after losing her brother, the owner of the Pittsburgh Titans, in the crash that killed the majority of the team she’s thrust into a whole new world that’s she’s not all that familiar with. As she struggled to rebuild the Titan’s she had a few missteps, one being her first interaction with Drake McGuinn. From the moment he stormed out of her office she’s been determined to get him back What I liked about Breanne was her assertiveness. When the time came, she let Drake know she was attracted to him, but she didn’t let him call the shots completely. Breanne gave him a run for his money in the emotions department. She wasn’t clingy and needy. She called the shots quite often and she scheduled the “booty calls” and “hook ups”. Something else that really resonated with me about Breanne is her sexuality. While it’s not unlike authors to write their female leads as women who embrace their sexuality, they don’t usually have them openly dating another man. Those men are mentioned but nothing major. With Breanne, she actually has a “boy toy” that she interacts with. While she may not actually have sex with him, he’s there and you know the purpose he serves to her. Best way to scrub Drake McGinn from my mind is to have Clay distract me in bed. Of course, it’s a crapshoot since fifty percent of the time I’m free, he’s not, and vice versa. I’m surprised when I get a quick text back. Absolutely. Eight p.m.? That works, I type back and exhale in relief. There… back on track. I’ll have my chef whip up something light for us, we’ll share a drink, and then I’ll let Clay fu*k my brains out. It’s a good plan. While Drake may be grieving losses in his life, and has the support of his family, Breanne is coping with the death of her brother and taking his place with the Titans. She’s hardly had a chance to truly grieve the loss of her best friend pretty much on her own. She puts on a brave face and other than a support group she started, she basically grieves alone. During their stolen moments and nights together, Drake and Breanne learn a lot about each other. They learn so much that there sex only rules and arrangements quickly morph into so much more. What I also enjoyed was the friendships in this book. Although she has developed something of a friendship over time with Jenna, she’s never had actual girlfriends. So, when Jenna introduces her to other wives on the team, she begins to get a real feel for friendship. Drake is initially and understandably hesitant about getting close to the guys on the team, but he soon realizes he has a good group and they’ve had back even when he didn’t know it. The players never turned on me, and those who were my friends stayed true. Those who were merely acquaintances listened to those who knew me, and their support came my way. It was probably the only thing that kept me sane during this last year—messages of support from players I barely knew on other teams. In a nutshell, this was hot and steamy, but not just hot and steamy; there was passion, feelings and growth with the characters. Cannon’s book is next, and I have a feeling vulnerability will be a major player in his story. Cannon’s story of how he lost a loved one through a slow death versus how I lost someone so quickly is a pointed reminder there’s no recipe on how to deal with any of it. “I want to ask a favor, and feel free to say no… but I formed a support group for the family members of the victims. We’re really connected via phone and social media because we’re scattered all over, but we have a monthly Zoom call to check in on one another. I’d love to have you talk at one of our meetings… about your experiences with grief. You’ve survived it, but I know some who are really struggling.” “I’d be glad to,” he says easily and then stands from his chair. ...more |

Review by Trinette Dungee “Serve you? In what ways?” I ask suspiciously. “In any way I want,” he replies, a devilish grin tipping one side of his mouth Review by Trinette Dungee “Serve you? In what ways?” I ask suspiciously. “In any way I want,” he replies, a devilish grin tipping one side of his mouth. “I’m not having sex with you.” “Won’t you?” he counters confidently. Jeez…does this guy scream Alpha/Confidence/Sex/Power or what!? We’ve encountered Amell several time throughout this series, but at the last time, he was was being united with his human daughter and being given the throne to The Underworld. At this point Amell is in the midst of reorganizing The Underworld and has been banished there, not allowed to visit Earth Realm due to his prohibited interference with Thalia’s battle for Vyronas. Amell has determined The Underworld needs a makeover and it’s not going to resemble anything of Kymaris’ Underworld. In the new Underworld, there is a sense of peace…well as much peace as there can be in Hell. As he adjusts to this new position and life Amell encounters a soul sent to him like nothing he’s ever experienced. Enter Nyssa McKnight. She’s a sassy spitfire that while shaking underneath, stands up to Amell. While many of the souls sent to him beg for forgiveness and second chances, Nyssa accepts her fate and does show remorse for the life she’s led or the sins she committed…especially the final sin she committed. Nyssa is quite entertaining at times when she deals with Amell. Such is the case during their first encounter when she’s mouths off to not just his subjects but to him as well. This is it. He doesn’t even need to hear my crimes. He’s going to dump me in. I hiss at him. “Go ahead and do it, you big old, winged bat. You don’t scare me.” I look around wild-eyed at this place called and scream, “None of you care about me.” I was totally not expecting Nyssa’s response and completely laughed out loud. At this point Amell himself is discovering that Nyssa isn’t the typical doomed soul, and he decides to keep her around to try and figure her out. What he also figures out is that Nyssa intrigues him on many levels. Nyssa has led anything but a charmed, carefree life. She’s struggled and fought the entire time doing whatever she needed to do to survive, so it’s no surprise to her when she ends up in Hell and lands at the feet of its King. What she won’t do is beg him for anything, but she does have to learn to live with this never-ending time in Hell. Of course, Amell becomes completely attached with Nyssa and the two end up in a “relationship” which is not surprising, but what is very surprising or enjoyable is the personalities of these two characters. They were both unapologetically who they were, and for the most part didn’t change throughout the story. They both had vulnerabilities that they didn’t necessarily display to each other but didn’t attempt to hide them once there were known. Nyssa remained Nyssa the entire time. The edges that seemed to have smoothed themselves out were always soft, just not visible to everyone. As for Amell, he accepted his position because he was appointed by Zora and his feelings for her, but it’s not something he ever wanted. I feel like he definitely struggled quite a bit with what was expected of him as the king of the underworld, and what he wanted to be as the king. While he moves forward with changes that are meant to keep the Underworld as a “dark place” as it should be, his way of ruling is not appreciated by everyone, there are those who want nothing more than to see Kymaris’ dream of taking over the earth realm and he has to establish his supporters from his enemies. Amell never attempted to hide his love for his daughter, Thalia, and how it hurt him not being able to see her the way he wanted or as often as he wanted. He had a very intimate nature. With Nyssa, it wasn’t just about getting her in his bed, but also getting to know her. Although he knew everything there was to know about what landed her where she was, he opted to let her tell him, He allowed her to become comfortable enough with him to open up about her past life. “Relax.” he adds. Lie down for a minute and let’s discuss your day.” I stare at him dubiously wondering if lie down and talk means “sex”……”You’re safe Nyssa. It appears I have to repeat this often, but I won’t touch you unless you ask me to.” He hasn’t asked which is confusing. “But you want to?” “I “I want to very much, but point out, intent on arguing this to complete clarity. “You’re evil. You have no morals.” “Few morals,” he corrects me. “Although admittedly, they’re self-serving.” “As I said, you can force me.” “I could easily force you.” I flinch at that admission and wait for him to reassure me. But he doesn’t. “Now, lie back down, face me, and let’s talk.” If that doesn’t scream intimacy, I don’t know what does. The King of the Underground has a heart…….and it’s freaking adorable and sexy as hell (no pun intended). ...more |

Usually her writings are light and funny with fantastic wit. This story told over a number of years had beautiful writing but it wasn't as light and had some deep emotions that hurt one's soul. Lainey knew of Emmett from attending the same boarding school. He was a few years older than her, way more sophisticated and was the guy every girl wanted. His family are the richest of the rich, having made their fortune in the fashion industry. Emmett's parents are unhappily divorced-his mother never got over his father, while his father wasted no time in replacing her with a younger model. His family is French and one gets the feeling he was just born sophisticated and suave. Lainey is gawky and terribly shy. She is the butt of the school's mean girls all the while she had a burning crush on Emmett. They have a few conversations, some interactions in the library. Emmett is about to graduate and while he has no lusty feelings for Lainey (there is the age difference) she has left a lasting impression on him. Fast forward quite and few years and they are back in each other's spheres. Lainey has somewhat found herself. She was raised by an overbearing grandmother. Her life has always bene one of privilege but she has wanted to make her own mark, her own way. There are expectations from both Emmett and Lainey's families and those complicate the couple's lives. I have to say that I liked how Emmett's feelings for Lainey have affected his persona-he who has always been self assured is a mass of emotions and doubts when it comes to her. That's a twist I can get behind. Lainey has molded into a woman who knows her own worth and one who is willing to lose what she most desires if she is not cherished for the wonderful creature that she has become. I like this more serious side to the author's writings. I enjoy a good rom/com, but this one was very well written. ...more |

Review by Trinette Dungee One of the “Lucky Three”. That’s what Coen Highsmith has been referred as since he was one of the three members of the Pittsb Review by Trinette Dungee One of the “Lucky Three”. That’s what Coen Highsmith has been referred as since he was one of the three members of the Pittsburgh Titans who did not perish in the horrific plane crash that took his entire hockey team; but “lucky” is that last thing he feels. Not only is he dealing with Survivor’s Guilt, but he’s dealing of the guilt of leaving something unresolved with someone who was on that flight. He’s had several high profiled incidents that weren’t so positive. He’s been in multiple physical altercations. He’s pushed away anyone who tries to help him or shows concern for him. At this point he’s more or less hit rock bottom and has been suspended from The Titans. In his mind, he’s done with the team and with hockey in general. To his dismay, the team’s owner, Brienne Norcross, and a few self-proclaimed friends from the team won’t let him just quit. They’ve suggested he use his down time to get himself together. When his teammate Stone offers him his cabin to get away and regroup, he finally takes him up on his offer. He enjoys this seclusion so much he buys the cabin. At the time he didn’t realize along with the cabin, he’d inherit a pain in the ass neighbor hell bent on cutting down the trees that borders both of their properties. Tilden Marshall is stubborn, mouthy and sexy as hell. All he wants is peace and quiet, and not constantly wonder what it would be like to claim her. Since the start of this series, I’ve been anxious for two stories, Coen being one of them. He has been a true asshole in the previous three books, so I had this feeling that he was dealing with something so deep that my heart was going to be ripped out. But he turned out to be nothing like I thought he would, his story was nothing like I thought it would be, and I was pleasantly surprised! The guy is a walking contradiction. While he does have some issues that he needs to work through, and can be blunt and harsh, he’s a very likeable guy. As a matter of fact, he’s quite…. dare I say…. charming. The Coen before the accident was a nice guy, a fun guy, the life of the party guy, and this is the guy who shows up during this book, okay not so much the life of the party guy…but the nice, fun guy. The first glimpse of this humor appears when he and Tildie have their first argument about her wanting to cut down the trees around his sanctuary. The man is overly dramatic as he waves his hands. “I’m a goddam naturalist. I draw strength and serenity from Mother Nature. I’m a motherfu*king, modern-day Snow White who communes with all the forest creatures and don’t want their habitat destroyed.” My head tips to the side as I frown with skepticism. “Really?” ” No, not really,” he says with an eye roll. “I just like my privacy, okay? End of story.” That was my first laugh out loud moment and there were many with him. What has Coen spiraling out of control in regard to the plane crash was nowhere near what I thought it was going to be. Coen’s journey is learning to forgive himself for something he had no control over. Even though he finally confides in Tillie what drives his drastic personality change after the accident, for me it wasn’t her convincing him that he had nothing to feel guilty about, but her helping him bring out the person deep down inside that was capable of more than what he thought he was even before the crash. He faced the issues he had with him family, his feelings of not being important in anyone’s life, not being capable of being who he truly is. These characters were fun. Their banter was fun. Their attraction was instant, and the chemistry was crazy. Coen wasn’t the grump I thought he was going to be. He was intuitive, compassionate, and he was so matter of fact that I couldn’t help but to laugh at his delivery in his conversations. They almost always had me giggling. “So, not fu*k buddies, but like... fu*k neighbors?” I ask, because that sounds ridiculous. He shrugs, “You’re the one keen on labels.” I really liked Tillie. This woman was not afraid to speak her mind around Coen. She may have been thrown for a loop by her attraction to him, and struggling to understand why he’s attracted to her, but she doesn’t hold back when it comes to telling him about himself. Even when she learns that he’s a famous hockey player, she’s not about stroking his ego. When he’s being an ass, she calls him out. “Are you okay?” He blinks in surprise. “Yeah, why?” “Because you’re quiet and brooding and acting weird. I feel like if I say the wrong thing, you might explode.” It’s not a good sign that Coen’s jaw sets into a hard line. “If I make you uncomfortable, you don’t have to stay.” And that’s all he needs to say for me to judge the situation. “I’m out of here.” I put my beer on the handrail and head for the back door, going in to grab my purse, my keys and my dignity. I don’t need this shit. I don’t even make it a few feet before he’s up and out of the chair, stepping right into my path. His expression is thunderous. ‘You’re just going to leave…like that?” Ordinarily, I world laugh at someone who would say something so ridiculous. “you told me to leave if I was uncomfortable. I’m distinctly uncomfortable.” “Well, then fu*k you and your tender sensibilities,” he snarls. “No, fu*k you,” I snarl right back at him as I barrel past. What I loved about their battles, he could get really snarky with her, and she’d basically give him the finger, exit stage left, and he’d be the one running after her! Also, as much as he wanted to keep it physical, it was him who was beating down the emotional connection the most. His level of compassion was a pleasant surprise. I especially loved the way he handled the mean girls and don’t even get me started on the chipmunk. Cutest thing eh-ver!!! My favorite snark from Coen came after an “encounter” the two had. “Couldn’t have done that to you if you’d have cut the trees down now, could I?” Coen pivots on his foot and walks away, chucking as he toward his house. “Seriously?” I call after him, bending over to thread my foot back through my shorts. I’m pulling them up as he turns his head slightly to yell over his should, “We should have a bumper sticker made. Save a tree, ride my mouth.” Coen turned out to be a somewhat light-hearted read that gives your inside that giddy feel. If you haven’t read the first three books, you definitely should, it will give you a lot of context/background to give you the true “Coen Experience”. Up next is Drake…. he’s the other character I’ve been dying to read about. We really only meeting him in book one and his encounter with Brienne Norcross isn’t a pleasant one. While I was off in my prediction that Coen was going to gut me. I think I’m pretty spot on with thinking this single dad is going to be, Grumpy/take no prisoners/panty melting HOT AF!!! ...more |

Review by Trinette Dungee “If it’s meant to be, you’ll find me” Talk about a leap of faith or taking a major chance; but that is exactly what Summer doe Review by Trinette Dungee “If it’s meant to be, you’ll find me” Talk about a leap of faith or taking a major chance; but that is exactly what Summer does when she meets Ben. He’s the stranger who saved her from a possible attack that she seems to have an instant connection with, which is strange because the only person she’s ever had anything close to a connection or had an attachment with is her grandmother. Not quite a rolling stone, but more like a petal on the wind, Summer moved from place to place following the best opportunities; the opportunities to make the money needed to take care of her grandmother. Landing in a small coastal town in Mississippi, Summer finds herself feeling strangely settled. It is here where she meets single dad, Ben and his daughter, Grace and where an epic love is born. With Ben being from one of, if not the most affluent families in the state, it’s a love that Summer and Ben must fight to keep. I can’t say that I believe in love at first sight, but I do believe in instant connections that can have two people falling unusually quickly for each other; and this is exactly what happens with Summer and Ben. It’s rare that I find a book that checks all of the boxes, that’s exactly what More With You does. It gives compassion, empathy, humor, and all the feels. This is not your typical “romance” book, which is why I’m choosing to not call it a romance but a love story. The story is told primarily from Summer’s POV with a few entries from Ben. While Summer realizes how quickly she and Ben develop feelings for each other and is hesitant, Ben is all in. The immediate connection does freak Summer out a little because she’s never had feelings like this for anyone factor in Ben’s daughter Grace, and she’s completely out of her element. Especially having not been cared for by her own parents; she’s not even sure if she has any maternal instincts. Even with her doubt; Summer, Ben, and Grace forge ahead. Of course, they are met with obstacles while building on their relationship from Ben’s family, as well as an old childhood friend turned complete douche. The pace of the story was very good. The dialogue between all of the characters was excellent, and the deep detail of the town gave me such a vivid picture of every scene. The chemistry between Summer and Ben was pretty unmatched by pretty much any other couples I’ve read. The supporting characters were also amazing. I simply adored Mrs. Thibodeaux aka Ms. T. She was Summer’s very own Jiminy Cricket. She was sassy, funny, and loving. Even the crappy characters, Ben’s parents and family friend Levi were very well rounded. This could all be because Summer’s story was based on the author’s life (with some embellishments). I knew going into this book it was going to hit me in the feels, but by no means did I think it would bring out the emotion it did. If you pay close enough attention, you can kind of figure out where the story is going, but I’m willing to be you will underestimate how hard it hits you in the gut and/or heart. This is Erin Spencer’s first solo project. If you are an audio book fan, you’re probably familiar with her works as she’s narrated hundreds of books as Ava Erickson. If reading this book gutted me, I can only imagine what hearing her bring her own book to life will do to me. When I think of tomorrow, when I think of next week, when I think of Christmas, when I think of this time next year and the years beyond that, you’re in every image. I want more of you. I want…more with you. Don’t say that my Summer is over. Not yet. If I could and you decide you can, I’d make it everlasting. And this is only in chapter 11 when Ben says this! It was one of the scenes when I knew this book was going to gut me. This author and first solo written book gets 5 stars from me. ...more |

Review by Trinette Dungee “One man in his time plays many parts, and this just happens to be one of mine” Will O’Connell, like many others living in Hol Review by Trinette Dungee “One man in his time plays many parts, and this just happens to be one of mine” Will O’Connell, like many others living in Hollywood, is a struggling actor. Talent is not his problem, he has loads of it. His problem? Making himself standout amongst all the other struggling actors. Even his agent can’t distinguish him from her other clients. In a conversation with his brother and sister-in-law where they discuss how many European/British actors are given role that require them to use an American accent, it is there were Liam O’Connell from Dublin, Ireland is born. Will decides to give the performance of a lifetime. He will be an American pretending to be an Irishman, pretending to be an American. With his first audition as Liam, Will nails it and soon lands a leading role in a highly anticipated movie. During this time, he meets one of the set stylists Raven. Will is immediately attracted to her and begins to pursue her. He finally gets her to go out with him and as he predicted, they hit it off. Not only does his relationship with Raven take off, but his career is now starting to soar. The problem? All of this is happening to Irish Liam. All of Hollywood is a buzz with this overnight success out of Ireland who can turn on his English accent at the drop of a dime. His plan works a little too well. Everyone is loving Liam, but when his secret is leaked can Will convince Raven that only thing fake about him, their relationship, and his feelings for her is his accent. If you are a fan of audio books you are probably already very familiar with Joe Arden. If not, he is one of the top male audio books narrators and has a huge following. He co-wrote a book with author Lauren Blakely which was a huge success, but this is his first solo written book. Because of my love for him as a narrator, I was eager to read this book, but at the same time I was very much afraid. Well, I’m happy to say, I totally enjoyed this book for many reasons. The pace of this was pretty good, there were a few areas were that seemed to be a little to descriptive. Most times the description helped, and I could clearly envision the area he was describing, but a few times it gave a little bit of a lull. Other than that, it flowed nicely. I loved the characters. I thought Will/Liam and Raven’s chemistry was pretty on point. I thought the interludes from Raven were a nice touch! Of course, I really enjoyed Will’s interaction with his niece. Who doesn’t love a guy who loves his niece and has weekly lunch dates with her!?!? Can we say swoon? I think what I enjoyed most about this book was the male perspective. It’s rare to read a romance book that’s written by a man, and you know it’s a man; It’s not a man writing under a female pseudonym. Yeah, you have your Nicholas Sparks’ of the world, but this is a different type of romance. There are little things that stand out coming from the male perspective. One of those things that give me a giggle quite a few times was his use of “tits”, he rarely used ‘breasts” and it made me giggle because each time I would read the word I’d say to myself, “he’s such a guy”. LOL I don’t think I’m being biased when I say this, but I think for his first solo project…. Joe hit a home run (he’s a baseball fan te-he), and I’m looking forward to future reads from him. I rarely listen to an audio book after reading a book, but I’m definitely going to snatch up the audio version when it’s released. ...more |

Despite being strangers, Parker proposes that Paige go cross country with him in his vehicle, he dubs "the beast." Paige's preferred mode of transport is hitch hiking. You don't hear about people doing that anymore. I can't remember the last time I've seen anyone with a thumb pointing out. But it's gotten Paige hundreds of miles and she's quite a fan. Now Paige and Parker are quite different. Paige is ballsy and mouthy and doesn't mind revving up a bit of drama. Parker just takes it as it comes. He never really knows what to expect and maybe that's okay with him. At some point, these two have to give in to the crazy over the top chemistry between them. Finally, I had been waiting for pages and pages for that to happen. But what's going to become of them when this little cross country jaunt is over? Stylo Fantome is never afraind to go where others fear to tread with her writing. Buckle up for the last 25% or so of the book because there may be some whiplash involved at how things quickly go to hell. Lots of angst, maybe a few stomach plummets. Cruise Control flows along full of humor, banter and then thrill spilling free falls. So delicious! ...more |
