The Rabbit Factor is somehow simultaneously ridiculous and ruthlessly logical. The dichotomy is delightful, as is the MC’s perspective. He is an actuary with a high probability of being on the Autism spectrum trying to understand illogical feelings and behaviors. His struggle is fascinating and oddly endearing. The mystery has all the twists and turns a person could want. All in all a very satisfying read....more

The mystery is good and the continuity is consistent. The only flaw to this novel is that it takes place in Florida with 4 POVs - 3 being British and one American - but all 4 thinking in British dialect. Little things like the American pulling up to to the “kerb “ pulled me out of the story. ...more

Kelly Miller’s Captive Hearts is another of her nuanced explorations of the untapped possibilities hidden in the Jane Austen world. Miller has a knack for delving into the meaner characters looking for the psychological scaffolding holding up their abhorrent behavior. It always makes the characters more compelling, and sometimes even gives the reader some compassion for them.
Miller accelerates the original Persuasion timeline with a fun crossover twist, which frees up the rest of the novel for some fun What If speculation. Well worth the read!...more

Trying to wrap up a 15 book series must be a complicated endeavor. Wrapping it up after the near world-ending disaster in the previous book looked impossible to me. To me, but not to Ash.
Realm and Reign starts a full generation after the fall of Faerie with the children of the major characters. At first starting over with a bunch of new characters to learn seemed an unnecessary burden, but then the author’s design comes crystal clear.
The series comes to a satisfying conclusion. I’m sad to let go of this rich world and it’s amazing characters. Thanks for everything Ash....more

The pace is good and the story well spun. It also portrays lots of dysfunctional relationships both professional and personal and how steep the consequences could be. That said there is a genuine thread of humor to buoy up the more serious theme.

Frances Evelyn has the remarkable talent of making you believe you’re reading a straightforward genre story only to pull out surprises that make you wonder if genre is even something that can be applied to her.
Mostly this is a story about the Fae and the author has put a tremendous amount of thought into their history and psychology. If you’re tired of the same old same old, give this book a try.
